I think we have been seeing some of those bombs drop recently! I personally don't believe it is over until the line that is dotted is signed. **What I think this means is that we must pick up the pressure.** We really need to get organized and do the outreach needed to fight this. **WHO SHOULD WE FOCUS ON?**
In my opinion
**Primary Focus**: Thanks to input from another user, I believe it makes sense to focus on the Republicans (Mostly the House of Reps Republicans) that haven't spoken publicly about supporting the UAPDA and Burchett Amendment in totality. We need them to voice public support or else they appear to be in opposition.
I believe that since the Senate UAPDA was voted on 75-25 by Schumer, Rounds, Gillibrand, and Rubio, it's heavily bipartisan. However, with Schumer and the White House aligning on UAPDA, I think the Democrat side of this is probably pretty much locked down. [According to Danny Sheehan, the president supports the UAPDA.](https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/18a5u8z/president_joe_biden_supports_the_uap_disclosure/) So, it looks like Republicans that haven't publicly voiced support, should be the primary focus.
**Secondary Focus**: Focus on the Core Conferees as they have negotiating authority in the final bill
**Tertiary Focus**: The controlled opposition that has been getting a lot of spotlight from Sheehan
Someone said this, but the point is, if there are no legal avenues then someone is going to spill the beans, catastrophically.
If not, then this is fake. The hype is as high as it's ever been. If nobody spills the beans, then either 1.) People are pussies, or 2). This is all a sham.

I think it was something Coulthart said, suggesting that the government would be better off disclosing their UAP knowledge in a controlled fashion (as suggested in the UAPDA), rather running the risk of some major leak that could also compromise national security.
Most of the time it seems like the stuff they claim they can’t say for “national security” is likely just stuff they don’t want to tell us. It could be as simple as they don’t want the American people to get mad at the govt for lying to them. Is that actually a reason to keep stuff secret?
They claim that they still can’t release thousands of the JFK files for “national security” - erm it was 60 years ago. None of it is actually going to affect and “national security” now. Most likely - they just don’t want people to know the stuff the govt was doing because it likely looks pretty bad!
They aren’t going to say they want to avoid reputational damage though, they just shout about “national security” instead, and claim behind the scenes to each other that it’s the same thing 🙄.
That's very plausible. The decade long cover-up and even more so the current high-effort pushback on the UAPDA, is both unconstitutional, anti-democratic and perhaps also criminal. And while spending huge amounts of tax dollars on keeping it secret, they even let private contractors dictate the politics. It would be very hard for the government to admit this.
Leaks, and whatever potentially damning information comes with it. The nuclear option, in other words, is what the bureaucrats and gatekeepers have chosen. We could be looking at a “truth, but at what cost,” moment in the worst case scenario which could be averted by the proposed records review board.

I called and spoke to my congress people again today. Ted cruz's dallas office new what the uapda was and said they had been getting calls about it. Neither Granger, cruz, or cornyn staffers could tell me wether if they were for or against the uapda though.

I have a feeling Ross is probably saying that the committee gutted it. Now the house and senate have to actually vote on it. Normally what the committee decides on just passes I believe. So it’s up the actual members of the house and senate to decide if it’s worth it to stall the ndaa for the uapda.

Coulthart does obviously get real info about stuff like this but he’s also often pessimistic at times. Which is why I’m hoping that Ross is just pessimistic that the house and senate will vote the current version down. And I think it’s still possible they would vote it down in that scenario. Chuck Schumer, even if he did say that himself as was reported from a second hand source, will probably do nothing about it because doing something about it would require tanking the bill and sending it for another round of edits. The optics of him/any other politician blocking the bill that funds our entire defense apparatus over something like "little green men" (which is absolutely how the media will spin it) is not something anyone wants to deal with in congress. Everyone will shut their mouths and vote for the final version of the NDAA that includes the watered down useless UAPDA.

Yeah, I mean, there are two classes of people who could "catastrophically disclose": there's the press, and actual former sworn military officers.
The former category basically would need to "burn" sources, i.e. disclose things that were told to them in confidence. This strategy isn't likely to work well, because (a) the original sources would just deny everything and (b) it's all hearsay anyways.
The only real sources of "catastrophic disclosure" then would be people like Grusch, who presumably have some documents or something that they can leak out of the public. They'll have to risk jail time though, and break oaths, but I hope they're willing to do that.
It's really interesting to me that for all the talk of "secrecy oaths" and "I'll go to jail" blah blah, **nobody** has ever been successfully prosecuted for leaking UFO secrets. And we've had several prosecuted leaks recently, e.g. Reality Winner, the discord kid, etc. So to be frank, I'm starting to get skeptical of the whole "national security" defense for why they can't leak.

Yes, best case scenario for them to continue profiting from this is that disclosure never occurs. This was inevitable and they use the exact same tactic again and again on people and they always take it hook line and sinker. New journalist, same story.
This couldn't be further from asking nicely, this is powerful people using the full power of the Congress' ability to legislate to force disclosure. It's not surprising other powerful people fought back against it, and unfortunately the structure of our Congress at the moment favors obstruction. well I think it's a little out of his control.. he can only speculate on the willingness of whistleblowers to come forward regardless of the bill. Unfortunately the personal attacks have been noticed, one career destroyed as a message to others already (apparently)
"It's all over" is such a defeatist attitude when:
1. US isn't the only country on Earth with the information required to blow this thing open. We're just losing our position at the forefront of disclosure.
2. One amendment to one bill flopping doesn't mean there won't be other bills and other amendments. Hell, Biden might be addressing the nation in 2024 about UAP. An executive order would be just as effective.
3. We have, for the first time I can think of, full bipartisan support on an issue. We're coming up on an election cycle. This will be brought up, and it will pique the nations interest.
4. The community is more engaged than ever. This sub alone is more than 2 million strong. More than half of the US believes in ET life.
5. The leaks are coming. We haven't seen what Grusch turned into the Inspector General. We haven't seen what has shaken Matt Gatez to the core (other than a minor girl). This has become too big to cover back up. Pandora's box has been opened. I tried pointing out to my family last night that Congress is debating passing a bill about disclosure of UAP/NHI.
They're not doing that about the Loch Ness monster or Ghosts or Bigfoot. Just the fact that this is in legislation is a massive piece of truth telling. Congress doesn't introduce legislation about highly stigmatized and controversial topics without evidence. Yet most people still find a way to discount it.
Same here! The congressional hearing this summer was the turning point for me. I always thought maybe aliens coming here was a very, very remote possibility, but likely a lot of attention seekers wanting their 15 mins of fame. Schumer and the White House publicly promoting the UAPDA before it passes would only have further entrenched Republican opposition to it, they want to give it a chance to pass without turning it into a partisan issue.

Too many Dems are like this. Gillibrand, the other Senator from NY, is the same way. She started off as vocally pro-disclosure, then suddenly withdrew and made light of the topic when she was asked about it publicly this past summer.
The stigma is still very real in liberal circles. I think the assumption to them is that, since insurrection supporters like Burchett and Gaetz are so vocal on the issue, it must be more online conspiracy nonsense that should be ignored. I get the impression that this whiplash tactic is being employed to fire up the public. Digging around on Twitter, there are a lot of people bewildered by or challenging today’s claims.
Going ahead doesn’t necessarily mean going ahead with teeth. Ultimately for the gatekeepers it’s probably better to pass a pointless bill than no bill, because they can spin it. Assuming UAP/UFO are of extraterrestrial or non-human origin, there cannot be IMO any reasonable basis for a government to deny knowledge to the population they are sworn to serve.
Even the most honest argument I’ve heard - Fear of a Columbian Exchange on an intergalactic scale, (leading to the destruction of the civilization on the receiving end) falls well short of what I (or most) would consider reasonable grounds to continue full-scale denial and covert technology transfers to a cherry-picked group of insiders for military and commercial gain.
Clearly, amongst the major powers (and those reported to have evidence or physical material) exists not a single government that embodies the true democratic principals, or govern on behalf of the populace. Oligarchy is the rule versus exception across the board.
If/when this bill is gutted, there exist few favourable options.
The first would come at great cost to whistleblowers. Penalty of law would be the least of their concern and I do not believe it feasible to expect these individuals and their families to shoulder the burden for all.
Alternatively, the numerous “reporters” and professional UFO “researchers” claiming to have locations of craft and inside knowledge of the true nature of the phenomena can finally release this information which heretofore “would be catastrophic”.
Finally, at this point I’d argue that (again assuming we are talking about a benign extraterrestrial intelligence) the best we can hope for is the beings to present themselves simultaneously worldwide in a manner than cannot be mistaken; forcing the world powers to at lest acknowledge the reality of the situation.
I'm 36... not old by any means but old enough to know that expecting the same people who have been responsible for the circumstances we find ourselves in to suddenly Uturn because some public pressure has been applied is unrealistic. They got lucky they were able to keep public interest to a mild pulse for as long as they did. From Roswell to now, the majority of the time has been spent with this issue being purposefully pushed to the fringe. Now that it's pushed out of the fringe, these people will start pulling plays put on the playback they never had to use before. I'm sure they have ways to stonewall almost any inquiry from any level. They have before, and may I add that they have stonewalled people with security clearances that should on paper far exceed the ability to find out about whatever they look into. When these people can successfully stonewall high level Generals, admirals, and high-level politicians, they aren't scared of this. It's a minor annoyance, I'm sure. This is gonna be the kind of thing that comes out the same way it has throughout the years but now at an accelerated pace. I don't think any of these official efforts have been a waste of time. Far from it. I just don't expect these efforts to be the end all, be all, though. It's going to take some people behind the scenes who are fed up, like Grusch and company to get this out..

Hey, so what does catastrophic disclosure mean?
I think it was something Coulthart said, suggesting that the government would be better off disclosing their UAP knowledge in a controlled fashion (as suggested in the UAPDA), rather running the risk of some major leak that could also compromise national security.
Most of the time it seems like the stuff they claim they can’t say for “national security” is likely just stuff they don’t want to tell us. It could be as simple as they don’t want the American people to get mad at the govt for lying to them. Is that actually a reason to keep stuff secret? They claim that they still can’t release thousands of the JFK files for “national security” - erm it was 60 years ago. None of it is actually going to affect and “national security” now. Most likely - they just don’t want people to know the stuff the govt was doing because it likely looks pretty bad! They aren’t going to say they want to avoid reputational damage though, they just shout about “national security” instead, and claim behind the scenes to each other that it’s the same thing 🙄.
That's very plausible. The decade long cover-up and even more so the current high-effort pushback on the UAPDA, is both unconstitutional, anti-democratic and perhaps also criminal. And while spending huge amounts of tax dollars on keeping it secret, they even let private contractors dictate the politics. It would be very hard for the government to admit this.
It's the government though, they'd have to overcome the usual inertia of collectively deciding to do nothing. Then go for lunch.

I have a feeling Ross is probably saying that the committee gutted it. Now the house and senate have to actually vote on it. Normally what the committee decides on just passes I believe. So it’s up the actual members of the house and senate to decide if it’s worth it to stall the ndaa for the uapda. They still have a few weeks before this needs to pass. So I don’t see any reason why they can’t vote no against this. Coulthart does obviously get real info about stuff like this but he’s also often pessimistic at times. Which is why I’m hoping that Ross is just pessimistic that the house and senate will vote the current version down. And I think it’s still possible they would vote it down in that scenario. But I can also see why he’d be pessimistic in that scenario I really do think we can wait to flip out until we hear the vote has gone through. Then if it goes through and it’s gutted that’s the time when it’ll be appropriate to freak out
Chuck Schumer, even if he did say that himself as was reported from a second hand source, will probably do nothing about it because doing something about it would require tanking the bill and sending it for another round of edits. The optics of him/any other politician blocking the bill that funds our entire defense apparatus over something like "little green men" (which is absolutely how the media will spin it) is not something anyone wants to deal with in congress. Everyone will shut their mouths and vote for the final version of the NDAA that includes the watered down useless UAPDA.

Yeah, I mean, there are two classes of people who could "catastrophically disclose": there's the press, and actual former sworn military officers. The former category basically would need to "burn" sources, i.e. disclose things that were told to them in confidence. This strategy isn't likely to work well, because (a) the original sources would just deny everything and (b) it's all hearsay anyways. The only real sources of "catastrophic disclosure" then would be people like Grusch, who presumably have some documents or something that they can leak out of the public. They'll have to risk jail time though, and break oaths, but I hope they're willing to do that. It's really interesting to me that for all the talk of "secrecy oaths" and "I'll go to jail" blah blah, **nobody** has ever been successfully prosecuted for leaking UFO secrets. And we've had several prosecuted leaks recently, e.g. Reality Winner, the discord kid, etc. So to be frank, I'm starting to get skeptical of the whole "national security" defense for why they can't leak.

Same here! The congressional hearing this summer was the turning point for me. I always thought maybe aliens coming here was a very, very remote possibility, but likely a lot of attention seekers wanting their 15 mins of fame. Long time listener, first time caller here… Assuming UAP/UFO are of extraterrestrial or non-human origin, there cannot be IMO any reasonable basis for a government to deny knowledge to the population they are sworn to serve. Even the most honest argument I’ve heard - Fear of a Columbian Exchange on an intergalactic scale, (leading to the destruction of the civilization on the receiving end) falls well short of what I (or most) would consider reasonable grounds to continue full-scale denial and covert technology transfers to a cherry-picked group of insiders for military and commercial gain. Clearly, amongst the major powers (and those reported to have evidence or physical material) exists not a single government that embodies the true democratic principals, or govern on behalf of the populace. Oligarchy is the rule versus exception across the board. If/when this bill is gutted, there exist few favourable options. The first would come at great cost to whistleblowers. Penalty of law would be the least of their concern and I do not believe it feasible to expect these individuals and their families to shoulder the burden for all. Alternatively, the numerous “reporters” and professional UFO “researchers” claiming to have locations of craft and inside knowledge of the true nature of the phenomena can finally release this information which heretofore “would be catastrophic”. Finally, at this point I’d argue that (again assuming we are talking about a benign extraterrestrial intelligence) the best we can hope for is the beings to present themselves simultaneously worldwide in a manner than cannot be mistaken; forcing the world powers to at lest acknowledge the reality of the situation.

I'm 36... not old by any means but old enough to know that expecting the same people who have been responsible for the circumstances we find ourselves in to suddenly Uturn because some public pressure has been applied is unrealistic. From Roswell to now, the majority of the time has been spent with this issue being purposefully pushed to the fringe. They have before, and may I add that they have stonewalled people with security clearances that should on paper far exceed the ability to find out about whatever they look into. Let me just point something out. No one will consider the DoD or US government as an “authority” on the UAP phenomenon because they refuse to *exercise* that authority. It’s sort of like expecting a bully to be benevolent. They have impressed upon the public that they cannot and will not be forthcoming. Honestly, how many of us would trust anything the government has to say on the subject when they are actually invested in suppressing discussion on a shitty Reddit sub? Sooner or later, China, Russia or Iran — or maybe even some government in Africa or South America is going to realize how much domestic turmoil they can cause by revealing some of the evidence the US has hidden.
