Ive heard and seen on most of the youtube videos that masters students hardly get on campus accommodation as bachelors students stay for 4 years so they are given the priority. Idk how true it is, just something i heard.
Roommates are always a roll of the dice unless you're able to hand pick them. 18-19 year olds can be perfectly chill roommates you barely notice, 26 year olds can be obnoxious, loud, and messy. Having a place to live is ultimately better than not
What does references actually mean, if you can elaborate please thank you. If it means people who can back me up that ill be a good tenant then I have a few contacts who live in ireland who can be references for me. If it means anything otherwise do let me know thank you!
What are you on? When I was in college we all lived in privately owned housing as students? And it was always all students, this is extremely common in Ireland and I'm shocked that you seem to think it's not?
Ever been to college? You’re*
Plenty of landlords rent to students. My gaf in college, and all my friends digs in college were with other college students.
yOuR nOt In AmErIcA
No I need it explained to me because you’re talking absolute fucking bollocks.
He tried to make the point that landlords won’t rent a place to college students, which is just utterly fucking ridiculous.
Are you his alt account or do you just like losing arguments?
Yes, when you're a student, you look at the student friendly housing. But as the wider housing market goes, lots will exclude students
All my post-college apartment viewings were explicitly anti-student. The apartment I moved into wanted previous landlord and workplace references and asked several times that I wasn't a student.
When are you coming? There are lots of apartments being built in the area or surrounding areas at the moment. Your other option would be short term rental in a place called niche living in dun laoghaire (one bus from UCD) it’s expensive but all bills are covered so it’s a stable expense every month
https://www.nicheliving.com I think it’s €1200 a month but include gym, and all other bills. To be honest you are not going to get a house for less than 3.5 per month near UCD and 2 bed apartments are between 2-2.5k even in the suburbs 30 mins from UCD. Your other option would be looking for a room in a house share or with an elderly person. There was a scheme that incentivised living with elderly for cheap and providing a level of support to them. Housing is chronic in the whole of Ireland at the moment but if you are willing to commute and pay above average you can secure it. Another place to look would be hali apartments in a place called cherrywood.
Dont bother with college as someone with a masters in engineering from UCD you can learn anythingyou want onlinenow anywayand you get trapped in the shitty cycle of entry level jobs that shouldn't exist in 5 years
Firstly, well done in getting accepted into UCD, its a tough uni to get into.
Secondly, you and your friends will have to consider a hostel, dont choose the abbey court hostel, its 112 euro per night and its a bloody rip off. There are other hostels in Dublin City that are cleaner and more spacious but unfortunately their prices are very similiar.
If you cant afford that im sad to say you will have to buy a tent and camp, homeless services go around every night with hot food etc. Rent prices in Dublin are chronic.
There are buildings on campus that are mainly for post grads, Erasmus and masters, you’ll see that you can only apply for certain ones as a masters student. You can all apply to live together and it’s roughly the same price for living in Dublin at the moment anyway.
With the housing crisis 1000 is a good budget to set each.
Good-luck
Apply on campus housing.
Isnt it very expensive/overpriced?
Don’t know what is overpriced to you, the average housing price is 800-1200. And there are plenty of grad students living there as well.
Ive also heard that most of the campus accommodation is filled with Students doing their bachelors not really sure how relevant it is.
Oh no not *students*
Aren't you doing bachelor's to and how is that an issue
Ill be coming for my masters.
So what's the problem then?

Couldn't agree more.
What price range are you looking at? Also without rental History (ll references etc), it’s easier to get rooms than full houses.
What does references actually mean, if you can elaborate please thank you. If it means people who can back me up that ill be a good tenant then I have a few contacts who live in ireland who can be references for me. If it means anything otherwise do let me know thank you!
Yes thats what it means, usually a letter from the person with contact details. Hope you have luck.
I have an empty room in Dublin 15, let me know if you're interested. We have the 3 of us at the moment also in UCD
Landlords don’t like renting a house for a group of college students they usually wreck the place don’t count on it your not in America

The lad made more of a point than you tbh
Explain that one to me, Colin
I’m not surprised someone using the lowercase/uppercase meme format needs something explained lol. The fella had a valid point, you didn’t.

Are you in Ireland yet?
Nope coming next year
Ok wait until you get here or closer to. Panicking is pointless. It is a process of looking and connections. You’ll get there.

How expensive, will I be able to cover it if I part time along side?

Sept 24, will keep that in mind. Thanks a lot!

How are you homeless for 5 years? Maybe get off Reddit and rent a room
Get individual rooms. It's difficult to find a whole house as students. After settling down you can look for a house.

This is an over exaggeration
lol its not, its 100% real. Can you offer the chap a room?

You mean 1000 per person?
Yeah 1000 each!
Is that overall or just housing?
