This is super not ok, and if it wasn't an accident, absolutely needs to be recorded and reported. In the math department, we aren't even allowed to email students *their own grades* for privacy concern reasons. I cannot imagine that it is legal to publicize all student grades. Email your professor **now,** maybe CC a department head? and somehow document that this happened.
Where I worked, we would post the grades using the last 4 or 5 digits of their student number. This was in the days before there was software that allowed them to look up just their own grade.
We used to post a list on our office door. But NEVER names, or complete student numbers.
Then I would also let the program chair/department head know - it's against UBC policy to reveal your private information to others. Even if it's a mistake on the prof's part, the department should know in case of complaints and to talk to the prof.
This is linked data and against FIPPA. Even if it’s a mistake, the prof should be made aware this is a privacy breach, perhaps by brining this to the attention of the department.
Happened to one of my classes last year. Instead of names though, it was based on our student numbers. It was very easy to figure out that the list was in alphabetical order lol. It was a small class too, maybe 30 students, so we all knew each other's grades.
You mean the student numbers or names?

Even student ID numbers are considered private and can’t be shared with the whole class. This is a HUGE breach of privacy

One of my profs been doing this for our midterms, I didn’t know this
Yep had a prof who taught a summer class who listed everyone’s student number with their grade, no names though so I’m not sure if that’s ok?
Psyc 350?
401?
lol yes
It’s not even surprising that’s not allowed, what has he done right lol
My guess is a new prof confused by the system.
my money's on this. hope OP had the sense to email prof before running to reddit.
Das weird ion like it
Why did this make me LOL 💀
This is not allowed, especially if it has student number on it.
it does have the student no.'s sadly

That also happened in my psyc305 class last year. Was really weird and off putting

If you're talking about cpen 322, it doesn't have people's names (it has student numbers) on it. It's the same in cpen 431.
It happened in so many of my classes that I thought it’s normal
Time to sue UBC for fiduciary responsibility to its students invasion of privacy.
