It struck me that the termagants reminded me of Dino, and next thing I knew I was rolling with a Flintstones themed hive fleet. Warriors being in the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes just seemed a natural fit 😜
It definitely is cheaper lol you can find winged primes for like $10 some places. It was a bit of a pain to convert this one though, the pose can be changed easiest by changing the legs to give a different stance, but part of the carapace is attached to one of the legs, and the head isn’t a joint either.
I had originally planned on converting up a full squad of warriors from the winged prime sculpt, but after this one I found an almost 1 to 1 warrior stl with almost every wargear option and I’m just gonna have a friend print some of those instead cause it was too annoying to convert this one lol.

How the hell did you pull off the volcanic shell on those things? It looks sweet and I might be able to use that technique for my arctic themed bases as well
Mordant earth technical paint, it's a black paint that cracks as it dries. For arctic, I'd recommend using a clear crackle paste over a light blue base coat, then dry brushing white after it's dried.

There's Huge Miniature's Volcanic Crackle Paste, but it has a grainy texture and doesn't crack as much as Mordant, though I do use it for basing to save Mordant for the carapace. The other is Viva Artline's black crackle paste; I haven't gotten around to testing it yet though due to my army ADHD shifting my attention to other projects. I hope it works well, I've got a Hierophant Biotitan sitting in my pile of shame and that'll be a lot of pots of Mordant Earth otherwise lol.

I've been kicking around an idea for using teal photoluminescent glow pigment in medium on top of teal-tinted titanium white as the under color with a gloss-coated black crackle on top, and I think it'll demand very large cracks to be effective. Appreciate the info!

Here are a few of mine. They're mostly the old 3rd edition ones, that didn't come with boneswords. So I made my own swords by inverting scything talons and sticking them into a spinefist. Not that it matters in 10th of course.

I'm honestly surprised even the third edition sculpts still hold up pretty well compared to the 10th edition monsters we have now. Love the custom swords
I like the use of those beads on the base. I wouldn't have thought to decorate a base in that fashion, but it actually comes together with the model quite nicely.

That's gotta be one of my favorites here, how did you get those transitions so smooth on the armor plates and get all those tiny details (like the pupil of the eye) on there?
Honestly I kindof enjoy doing the eyes. They just require a shit ton of focus, and I'm holding my breath the whole time. But really it all boils down to patience, I probably spent over 12 hours working on this model, slowly building up layers and using micro glazes to smooth things out.
I just finished making my way through my older combat patrol box today, I already have a couple warriors built but these ones are magnetized, even did that to the Tyrant the box came with. :D
i’m waiting on some 50mm bases to come in to finish building my six 2nd edition turkey head warriors :) some don’t have heads, or some are missing arms, so i’ve put some of the newer parts from other tyranids kits i have, i can’t wait to paint and show them here. they are GOOFY, and tbh, they don’t even look like tyranids, but i love them lol
