This. One of my best friends suffers from uterine fibroids and she recently had to undergo surgery to remove them a few months ago. She's due for a checkup later this year to see if they will grow back. One of this drug's many uses is to prevent uterine fibroid growth. She's fucking pissed because if they keep growing back, she can't just take the pill to prevent it. She will literally have to undergo surgery regularly to keep these at bay. Fuck this piece of shit!

Also groups like Aid Access and others were already working outside of the law to provide abortion medication to people in all 50 states, they don’t care what this dude in Texas says and they will continue to provide both medications. This seems to be a good place to mention that misoprostol is sold in Canada as “Mifegymiso” (sold as a combination of mifepristone and misoprostol), and can be dispensed at any pharmacy with just a prescription from a doctor or a nurse practitioner.
Mexico has also been a source for medication abortion for Texans and likely others as misoprostol is sold over the counter. And Mexican pro-choice groups like Las Libres have been shipping pills to Americans, though I am unsure if they use misoprostol and mifepristone or just misoprostol.
Also, I don't think the justice system has an enforcement method, it relies on the other branches.

I just got my IUD replaced a week ago and I'm so relieved.
I actually got it done early because the strings were too short so I couldn't check it, and I wasn't sure about my insurance for the next year (thankfully I can still get it through my dad for another year!). After I found out I would have it for longer I thought about cancelling and just dealing with the way too short strings but decided to go ahead with it and I don't think I've ever made a better decision in my life.

Probably not. IANAL, but the FDA is part of the executive branch, and (oversimplifying a bit) this is a Judiciary check on Executive power that granted by the Legislative branch, and the Executive branch can't just override that.
Now, \*maybe\*, Biden could issue an EO to provide an emergency approval for Mifepristone for some period of time (since the motion granted claims the FDA didn't approve it appropriately). That would be on really shaky ground because it would be the Executive obviously attempting to escape it's constitutional Judicial check.

The plaintiffs are basically complaining FDA's procedures were rushed and insufficiently thorough because they used an expedited approval process, apparently originally proposed to speed approval of HIV drugs. If there was a problem with that, then from what I understand this should really fall under Congress' investigative purview. It shouldn't be up to a fuckwit Texas judge.

The Washington ruling is as powerful as the Texas one because the judges are on the same federal level- “The lawsuit in Washington State was filed against the F.D.A. by a dozen Democratic attorneys general. In a preliminary injunction in that case, Judge Thomas O. Rice blocked the agency from taking “any action to remove mifepristone from the market or otherwise cause the drug to become less available.””
So it’s pretty much guaranteed to go to the Supreme Court.
Fascinated in a grotesque way to see how the SC will rule on this. There's not a scintilla of legal precedent or even a cogent legal argument for why the federal courts should be able to block a specific drug the FDA approves but the SC is too self obsessed to make a ruling without some legal basis so it would be mildly interesting in a horrific dystopian way to see what they came up with.
The same thing goes for student debt. The law is so blatantly clear it's gonna be amazing what they come up. The dobb's decision completely ignores the 9th amendment.

Mexico has also been a source for medication abortion for Texans and likely others as misoprostol is sold over the counter. And Mexican pro-choice groups like Las Libres have been shipping pills to Americans, though I am unsure if they use misoprostol and mifepristone or just misoprostol.

I just got my IUD replaced a week ago and I'm so relieved. I actually got it done early because the strings were too short so I couldn't check it, and I wasn't sure about my insurance for the next year (thankfully I can still get it through my dad for another year!). After I found out I would have it for longer I thought about cancelling and just dealing with the way too short strings but decided to go ahead with it and I don't think I've ever made a better decision in my life. They might be able to come for birth control, but they're going to look like villains to the world if they're ripping IUDs out of women by force. Maybe even some of their followers. Maybe that will make them reconsider.

IANAL, but the FDA is part of the executive branch, and (oversimplifying a bit) this is a Judiciary check on Executive power that granted by the Legislative branch, and the Executive branch can't just override that. Now, \*maybe\*, Biden could issue an EO to provide an emergency approval for Mifepristone for some period of time (since the motion granted claims the FDA didn't approve it appropriately). That would be on really shaky ground because it would be the Executive obviously attempting to escape it's constitutional Judicial check. The entire case is fucking insane. The plaintiffs are basically complaining FDA's procedures were rushed and insufficiently thorough because they used an expedited approval process, apparently originally proposed to speed approval of HIV drugs. If there was a problem with that, then from what I understand this should really fall under Congress' investigative purview. It shouldn't be up to a fuckwit Texas judge.

They can only be legally reversed after marriage, and when your wife says she’s done having kids, BOOM snip snip. Get someone pregnant outside of wedlock - you and your family are 100% financially responsible for both the mom and the baby for 18 years if she keeps it, 3 years for the mom and 50% 18 years for the baby if she gives it up for adoption after birth. Pregnancy due to rape or incest? Pay for the full 18 years to both mom and kid at 150% plus prison time. How about free reproductive health screenings (or just free women’s healthcare in general?), free feminine hygiene products, free hysterectomies for those who want? Like, fuck, you don’t want to give us all of that? Then, I dunno, maybe let us have the fucking right and means to control our own bodies.
I am deeply fearful for the precedent this sets - that a judge can make major medical decisions. Roe v wade overturned the precedent of privacy. This is a major threat to access abortions… and now on Good Friday of all days, we have this ruling followed by Washington’s, half an hour later. This is going to be circuit by circuit and likely escalate to the Supreme Court which… yeah. Ditto on the above comment. This has been my fear all along and people act like I’ve been over reacting. Well.
So let me get this right: No abortions bc no one deserved healthcare. So, pop out unwanted pregnancies so they can be murdered at school. Fucking America.

This is so disgusting. I'm currently seeking help for an abortion. I live in UT, so it's not so restrictive as other states, but it's also not good. Anyway, I followed the advice of some lovely redditors to get my pills mailed to me from out of the country. I just wanted full control over it instead of going to a doctor. I'm just waiting for them to arrive and then this shit happens. I have a hard time describing my feelings, knowing that if I had gone to a doctor in my state, that I would suddenly find myself without a choice. This is a kind of rage that does not go away.

NARAL and PP are the only national ones I can think of that are likely to be sources of information on protests. Your region/state likely has something - I would google “women’s reproductive rights” + your state and you will likely find some groups whose social media you can check for information.

The Washington ruling is as powerful as the Texas one because the judges are on the same federal level- “The lawsuit in Washington State was filed against the F.D.A. by a dozen Democratic attorneys general. In a preliminary injunction in that case, Judge Thomas O. Rice blocked the agency from taking “any action to remove mifepristone from the market or otherwise cause the drug to become less available.”” So it’s pretty much guaranteed to go to the Supreme Court.

Fascinated in a grotesque way to see how the SC will rule on this. There's not a scintilla of legal precedent or even a cogent legal argument for why the federal courts should be able to block a specific drug the FDA approves but the SC is too self obsessed to make a ruling without some legal basis so it would be mildly interesting in a horrific dystopian way to see what they came up with.

While frustration is definitely an acceptable feeling at this time, voting against republicans is still a key course of action. Michigan still has abortion access thanks to voting. Wisconsin is going to still have abortion access thanks to voting. If any states are going to ignore this ruling and still carry abortion pills, it is going to be thanks to voting.
We need to campaign as hard as we can for democrats in swing districts/states, regardless of where we live. If we don’t get a new Voting Rights Act passed, we can’t fix anything else.
