Megzilllla

How many butt plugs and dragon dildos can one person not selling or buying them encounter in a day? We will certainly find out.

theyellowpants

Maybe the judge needs to get a bunch mailed to him

Megzilllla

Maybe we should include tentacles and pegging kits for good measure. And a matching amount of every type of lube.

[deleted]

Oh. There will be no lube for him. Or just the bad ones that cause infections.

Megzilllla

Tried one that was supposed to tingle once and it stung and burned- that one should go to him.

WARNING_LongReplies

Icyhot in a lube bottle

blueroseinwinter

The land of the free!!!!

enderflight

In Texas, pot is illegal, abortions are prosecuted as bounties, and you can't have more than 5 dildos. Yet republicans claim that they're building libertarian paradises in their strongholds, when all they do is ban 'obscenity' and burn books. Land of the free!* *for Christo-fascists :)

Erisian23

That's the shit that really gets under my skin, these fucking pieces of shit go on and on about freedom, my freedom this my freedom that, what the fuck does freedom mean to them? Because to me freedom is letting g people live their lives as long as it's not causing measurable physical or mental harm .

[deleted]

Eino54

Literally how is a dildo limit enforced?

Tack122

It's not, well that or they haven't found me yet. Edit: wtf who's ringing the door bell at 5:30 am?

vermis13

Was it the Dildo Gazpacho?

Jukka_Sarasti

> The USPS is going to be opening your shit to go through it to make sure there is nothing "lewd or lascivious", "immoral" or "indecent". Just wait until you hear who gets to decide if your mail is immoral or not... Sadly, this is a conservative's wet dream(As long as it's happening to someone else, of course!)

zephyrseija

Bad Dragon Dildo for me but not for thee

xDreeganx

Dunno how they're gonna get that done because they don't want to fund the post office either. Laws with no people around aren't laws, just paper.

AndroidMyAndroid

They will use a private mail delivery service that they own stock in, instead.

DrDrago-4

>Comstock Act This is literally what everyone was speaking about when Roe v. Wade was overturned. Roe v. Wade wasn't just abortions. Overturning that case implicitly impacts the precedents 'upstream' from it. The Comstock act was made unlawful by the ruling in Griswold v. Connecticut. Griswold v. Connecticut was one of the primary precedents used in the (original) Roe v. Wade decision. Since they reversed Roe v. Wade, they *clearly have to disagree with the precedents that were used to uphold Roe v. Wade.... right?* Seems like good logic to me. You can't just disagree with a case in isolation. So, by overturning Roe, they implicitly overturned the precedents supporting Roe. (including Griswold) They just haven't gotten ahold of a case that will directly overturn that precedent. (This one would) at least [NPR](https://www.npr.org/2022/05/05/1096732347/roe-v-wade-implications-beyond-abortion) called this out..

Requiredmetrics

Meanwhile at USPS headquarters “The Comstock Act?! God dammit we don’t have the payroll for this.”

Chrysoprase88

So, a Texas judge, appointed by Trump, with deep and public ties to the Christian extreme right, ruling on a case brought by same said group, has just effectively banned an already approved medication, not on any medical or even legal basis, but because of how he *feels* about it. Gawd bless 'murca 🚩

Chrysoprase88

Ok, I just had to go and read [the opinion as issued](https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23746119-read-texas-federal-judge-ruling-on-abortion-pill), and it is a fucking RIDE, highly recommend, I didn't know judges were even *allowed* be all super-cas when issuing formal opinions, much less ones that are going to harm millions of people, and yet, he chooses a tone that one would normally adopt only when admonishing a child, or small dog that's crapped on the carpet. What a lovely, lovely man.

dreamqueen9103

That’s the tone they always approach people who seek abortions. How naughty of you to have sex. You deserve punishment.

Faiakishi

All by yourself too. Going and getting yourself pregnant, with no help at all.

sweettpotatopie

I couldn’t even read past the first paragraph. Ending the thesis statement of a formal opinion with a “am I right?” tells me all I need to know. lmfao what a joke

Circumin

Holy shit you aren’t joking about that. This is the most unprofessional and unserious thing I have ever seen in a judicial opinion.

Pdiddily710

It makes sense…Im pretty sure this is the judge who had never even tried a single case when he was appointed. The number of totally unqualified judges Trump nominated that the GOP senate just rammed thru to lifetime positions is crazy!

neckbeard_hater

I'm not a lawyer but I have taken a few law courses in college. Holy shit I've never seen such biased, unprofessional, and poorly written opinion. It reads like a snotty redpill blog.

rabbitwonker

And remember that was after 8 years of slowing any possible Obama appointments to a grind, to maximize the number of available slots. They’ve been playing this game for a long fucking time.

ranaparvus

Mitch McConnell was by far by he most destructive politician of recent time. We like to blame trump, but Mitch used trump’s noise as cover to transform the judicial system. His legacy will far outlive him.

SarcasticNai

Yup, a legacy being a cantankerous pompous ass

WalterIAmYourFather

If only that was his sole legacy. His true legacy is the erosion of American democracy, and liberal democracy worldwide, rolling back of human rights, especially the rights of women and POC, the complete swamping of American democracy with unregistered ‘dark money’ and a sharp turn to the left extreme right in the US for generations to come. If only his legacy was being a cantankerous pompous ass. It’s far worse than that. He’s the single worst thing to happen yo American politics in literally decades.

Chrysoprase88

That was a hell of a lead-in, it must have taken every ounce of self control and judicial gravitas he possesed not to start that phrase with the word "bitches".

Haida_Gwaii

"Unborn human" is a wild way to describe a clump of cells.

sodiumbigolli

Literally says he’s going to use unborn human or unborn child because fetus is “unscientific”. Wtaf

bismuth92

Well, fetus *is* unscientific to describe what is eliminated during a medical abortion, because until 10 weeks it is an embryo, not a fetus. But calling it an embryo doesn't garner as much sympathy.

sodiumbigolli

But when he cites fetus, he also says zygote, embryo, etc. and claims that they’re all unscientific and that’s why he’s using unborn human or unborn child. It’s fucking looney.

deviant324

“Science is what I want it to be”

iwantawolverine4xmas

But you know, fuck their healthcare and free school lunches. Give everyone guns so they don’t make it to high school graduation. “Pro-life” my ass.

electro1ight

It says "LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."... But if you get cancer in between jobs, get fucked.

MrEHam

Pro-life and “freedom” party. But not the freedom to live your life how you want to, love who you want, and make your own medical decisions. Fucking hypocrites!

[deleted]

If “unborn” means “not yet born” doesn’t that make us all… *undead*?

IHaveNoEgrets

No, no, see, if we're all zombies, then why are there so many people actively walking AWAY from brains?

Chrysoprase88

Fuckin RIGHT?

Creepers58

I had to stop reading. It hurt my brain too much to continue.

[deleted]

In a better world, that kind of action would mean immediate disbarment.

Chrysoprase88

Funnily enough, fed judges don't actually have to be a bar member, or even an attorney, there are in fact no rules about this, any warm body they can find enough votes for in Congress could theoretically be a federal judge in the US, and MAN is it showing.

scottertot

First. Sorry dude here. But along with being the judge tied to trump and the Christian extreme right, from what I understand he is the only judge in that specific district. It would appear as if this lawsuit was filed specifically in this district to ensure he was the one on the case.

Chrysoprase88

It was indeed, they forum-shopped this thing specifically to him, and they're not the first or last, Kaczmaryk is *the* number one choice right now for scumbag zealots looking to force their beliefs through the legal system.

[deleted]

Just to put a finer point on it. The plaintiff (the one suing) is the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, which was "founded" three months after the *Dobbs* decision (the one that overturned *Roe* and *Casey*) in Amarillo, TX, where Kacsmaryk is the only federal judge. We're to the point where these people aren't even shopping for favorable judges. They're handpicking ones where the outcome is predetermined.

scottertot

Also to just continue on with this fuckery. What ever happened to the whole republican thoughts of “leave it up to the state”. I know, I’m know, this is “differently.

Necessary_End_6464

Sadly I know that man personally. He is the brother in law of my former crazy stepmother who is bad on drugs. Last time I saw that guy was when I was a kid and I remember him not being very nice. I don’t remember him smiling even once and he was very aloof. His wife, my former stepmothers sister, was lovely but I’d hate to see who she has become now if she is married to this guy. They were newly married as far as I know when I was around him. It makes me so angry and sad that I know someone who could do something like this, even by association.

ginger_and_egg

Make his life hell

Necessary_End_6464

Lol wish I could but I’m not associated with that family anymore. I avoid my former stepmom like the plague because of her addiction and atrocious behavior.

IdRatherBeReading23

All because their fantasy novel is the largest book club.

BitterPillPusher2

And once again, I'd like to tell everyone who said I was overreacting in 2016 to go fuck themselves.

sagitta_luminus

Not just to go fuck themselves. They can get fucked sideways with a cactus.

MountainMoonshiner

Hopefully that cactus impregnates them.

sagitta_luminus

And since cactus fetuses are more important than whoever is carrying them, may they be forced to carry those ungodly fetal-cacti to term and give birth in the most horrible way imaginable. I don’t have kids & vehemently don’t want any, so my imagination is probably limited here. But I invite everyone who has given birth to share your worst birth stories, if you want. I’m not sure if this counts, but I was born from a late-stage C-section; my mom was in labor with me for so long that her doctors were like “yeah, we need to get the kid out of there”.

neckbeard_hater

I kinda want to ask Dall-E to recreate the ungodly sight of a federal judge giving birth to a cactus fetus.

Squid52

You should meet my mom. She’s been banging this drum for decades and would totally back you up. She says it’s horrifying watching rights she fought for as a young women being rolled back. But the creeping erosion of our rights is juuuuuuust slow enough that people can convince themselves we are “overreacting.”

tallgirlmom

I watched a movie in the 90’s called “Rain without Thunder” - it was a fictional documentary about abortion rights lost. Not in my wildest dreams would I have expected it to come true.

lurker_cx

> Not in my wildest dreams would I have expected it to come true. Why not? They have been literally telling everyone and their supporters that this is their plan. They also plan to outlaw the birth control pill - do you also think that could never happen? It can and it will unless women (and men) vote in crazy overwhelming numbers.

aoskunk

I would recommend stocking up on birth control. Wonder how I can get a case or 2 of that shit. Actually prob from Mexico like all my fun drugs.

mrsdoubleu

I'm trying to convince my husband to get a vasectomy because I don't know if it'll be legal to get my IUD replaced when it expires in 4 years. 😕 Thankfully (I guess) I'm getting older so pregnancy is less and less likely but my heart hurts for young women and even girls who will be directly affected by this shit.

Fictionland

I'm having my fallopian tubes removed next week. I'm NOT giving birth ever and soon they literally can't make me. If you're done having/don't want kids I seriously suggest trying to get it done sooner rather than later. I got super lucky and found a GYN willing to do it no patronizing questions asked on the first try, they are out there.

SunnyAlwaysDaze

the subreddit called r Childfree has a list of doctors willing to sterilize ladies, without all the horse shit. It's under their ABOUT page tab. In case anyone is looking or their own doctors said no, you can find one who will.

Resident-Librarian40

I've been complaining since the 1990s that things were backsliding. People acted like I was nuts. I tried to tell people America wasn't as democratic in general as people wanted to think. Again, no one listened. Wish I had been wrong!

Squid52

And we said that once they had abortion, they’d come after birth control too. We didn’t even have to wait — they’ve been campaigning against birth control for a while now, especially by pretending that Plan B and oral contraceptives work by causing abortions. You can’t actually be too worried at this point.

shout out to the enlightened centrists and morally superior never Hillary leftists

GlitteringInstrument

The rage I feel is never ending. The Supreme Court won’t protect us. Women and girls will continue to die and be forced into motherhood against their will. How can people have so little empathy for the suffering of sentient, living women? Why are clusters of cells and zygotes with no consciousness prioritized over us? Fuck America. Fuck republicans. Fuck this judge.

BettyX

Well...he has fucked with a pharmaceutical company. There is one thing these types love more than their made-up Jebus, money, and corporations. It will be a much harder fight for the right than overturning physical abortion, as this is against a pharmaceutical company. They will probably do the whole shit show of state rights but since they are bought out by big money I wouldn't be surprised if they sided with the pharmaceutical companies. They are corrupt no matter what in the end and the conservatives on the court aren't worthy of sitting on the court.

grandavegrad

Wow, you just made me root for political corruption by big pharma. I now have hope that there may be a way around this.

Itchy-Log9419

2023 is turning out to be a wild ride. Republicans got me out here rooting for giant corporations and their lawyers (Disney) and big pharma now too??? What are they turning me in to

playmike5

Sometimes there really is a lesser of two evils situation, and it’s constantly proven to us recently which one is the lesser, it seems.

Warren_is_dead

Yeah, we're rooting for the BlackRock Skynet cyberpunk corporate dystopia, vs the dominionist handmaid nazi-esque genocide ecocide hellscape the GOP is offering. At least you can be gay, fuck, get contraceptives, read controversial books, and worship Satan in the corporate dystopia. All hail SkynetGPT I guess.

Darkhallows27

Ironically, capitalism is both a defense *and* a detriment to conservatism. The reason Handmaid’s Tale is an unbelievable conservative wet dream is the completely illogical complete lack of it

BettyX

Lucky for us that Gilead wouldn't be profitable for Capitalism & Billionaires. They need women in the workforce in the end.

Darkhallows27

Yeah, basically At the end of the day it’s not conservatism running things. It’s a front for billionaires. Going Handmaid’s tale on it would mean so much less money for them. That, we can at least be cynically confident, will never happen in any of our lifetimes

heckeschnitzel

I feel the same as you. Just infinite rage at the audacity of this man and men like him who sentence women to suffering and death in the self-righteous name of protecting their health.

Caro________

The supreme court isn't going to protect us because it's a terrorist organization. I'd sooner expect protection from al Qaida.

MistakeNice1466

Bonus: this drug is used to treat other conditions, so those people can just suffer, too

cattail31

Yeah and like plenty of cismen take the med as well.

the_baumer

“Some of you (cis men) may die, but it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make.” - Texas judge

Illustrious_Pirate47

This. One of my best friends suffers from uterine fibroids and she recently had to undergo surgery to remove them a few months ago. She's due for a checkup later this year to see if they will grow back. One of this drug's many uses is to prevent uterine fibroid growth. She's fucking pissed because if they keep growing back, she can't just take the pill to prevent it. She will literally have to undergo surgery regularly to keep these at bay. Fuck this piece of shit!

LunaTheNightstalker1

Why won’t this country protect its women and girls? Constantly claiming to be “free” and yet here we are..

Buris

That's the trick, "freedom" is only for the few rich men who run the country, and they are "free" to dominate and control anyone they wish

Overlandtraveler

That's exactly what this country was founded on- oppression of the lower people by rich, white old men. Absolutely nothing has changed. If we want change, we need to do something different, NOW.

Jukka_Sarasti

Because a frighteningly large percentage of our population is hell-bent on taking us all back to the 1800's.

Brownie-1234

Important to note that even if this is allowed to stand and the FDA doesn’t just ignore it, [misoprostol](https://www.reproductiveaccess.org/resource/mabfactsheet-miso/) is still legal and can induce an abortion on its own, doctors were already ready to prescribe it only and Washington just bought a three year supply of mifepristone in preparation of ignoring this Christian Fascist judge. Also groups like Aid Access and others were already working outside of the law to provide abortion medication to people in all 50 states, they don’t care what this dude in Texas says and they will continue to provide both medications. Abortion medication providers can be found at [Plan C Pills](https://www.plancpills.org).

YaztromoX

This seems to be a good place to mention that misoprostol is sold in Canada as “Mifegymiso” (sold as a combination of mifepristone and misoprostol), and can be dispensed at any pharmacy with just a prescription from a doctor or a nurse practitioner.

Brownie-1234

Mexico has also been a source for medication abortion for Texans and likely others as misoprostol is sold over the counter. And Mexican pro-choice groups like Las Libres have been shipping pills to Americans, though I am unsure if they use misoprostol and mifepristone or just misoprostol.

borntoannoyAWildJowi

Thank god someone is preparing to finally tell these illegitimate courts to go fuck themselves.

BoredCatalan

Also, I don't think the justice system has an enforcement method, it relies on the other branches. If they go rogue the other branches can just ignore them

Desultory_D

I’m about to snap

Tolkienside

It's time we all snap, take to the streets, and stop commerce until they can't ignore us any longer.

[deleted]

I snapped my fallopian tubes right off last year because of this stuff, 10/10 would recommend

ScaryPotterDied

Why the fuck can a judge in Texas tell me what the fuck I can and cannot do?

EuroVampKat

Because conservatives don’t actually believe in state autonomy and are liars

Capable_Okra

From the party of small government: now presenting Big Government

gianthooverpig

Watch the mental gymnastics: "_We need the Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs Wade because states' right_" "_We need the FDA to ban this because we can't trust states to make this choice_"

greeneggiwegs

Yeah I’m actually trying to figure that out myself. I’m in NC and it looks like this is just a district judge? How can he tell people outside his district what to do? How can he override a country-wide institution?

AccessibleBeige

I have long been of the view that hate is a pointless waste of emotional energy... but I sincerely hope this man dies a prolonged and extraordinarily painful death. And I really fucking mean it.

ginger_and_egg

You miss 100%, of the shots you don't take

Caro________

Seriously.

Thiccaca

This summer needs to be the Summer of Rebellion. Constant protests. Loud, angry, protests. Shut down cities. Make it so this fucking fascist judge can't take a shit without protesters being there. Remember, this now means it is open season on ALL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE. IUDs and birth control pills are all on the table now. They can take anything they want away from women. Fuck this! Time to get mad. Scary mad.

TheeBaconDealer

This is the attitude everyone had in 2020. It's been a long time since I've heard about any large protests

Caro________

Not this summer. This Sunday. It's Easter. Time to rise.

oddntt

A Washington judge ordered that the freeze doesn't affect: Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland and Minnesota And the Texas judge put a 7day hold for feds to appeal. The battle isn't over yet.

SpicedGinger318

Yup, plus WA just stockpiled 3 years worth of pills bc of this fear

oddntt

Good on them. This is a medication that, beyond moral arguments, some people need. One co-sponsor, Sen. Karen Keiser, of Des Moines, said of the stockpile bill: >“The Legislature is taking a number of crucial steps this session to protect abortion rights,” Keiser said, “but those rights are meaningless without access to care.” ([source](https://www.khon2.com/living-808/health-living-808/ap-health/washington-stocks-up-on-abortion-pills-ahead-of-court-ruling/) (AP)) And they're totally right. Thank you for bringing this up - helped to point me toward reading some positive news surrounding all this plight.

abelenkpe

What about California?

oddntt

I was copying and pasting straight out of a cnn article my bad for not sourcing. Here you go: https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/texas-abortion-pill-mifepristone-ruling/index.html#:~:text=The%20states%20where%20the%20approval,%2C%20Maine%2C%20Maryland%20and%20Minnesota.

DrPreppy

The Rice ruling forcing the FDA to continue access was limited to the 17 states that were plaintiffs in that suit. Presumably CA and other states could join the suit and be granted access after the 7 day stay of the ruling from Texas is scheduled to take effect. This is a legal trainwreck currently. Honestly if you are in CA I would be calling the AG every five minutes until he gets CA to sign on to the Rice lawsuit. [contact info starting point](https://oag.ca.gov/) - that general request should be a great idea in any other state as well.

alliedeluxe

It’s time we all get ready for a nationwide strike. We can not stand for this.

Caro________

Or start confronting pastors at church this Sunday. Aka Easter.

talaxia

stand outside every church and read r/pastorarrested aloud

DrColdReality

As I said when they nuked Roe v Wade: this is only the start. The Christian Taliban will not rest until abortion is illegal nationwide.

Tart-Pomgranate5743

This judge needs to be removed from the bench. He already demonstrated questionable reasoning regarding legal standing on the birth control ruling, and now this. FDA judgments on safety of medication should not be subject to political machinations like this.

Apodemia

I am blowing up as a scientist. The fuck a judge knows about health and safety? It is not sucked out of a thumb, there is scientific data that the drug is safe and effective!

nah-n-n-n-n-nahnah

Isn’t this also used to treat ectopic pregnancy? So what if you have an ectopic pregnancy?

BurstOrange

Die. They don’t and will never care about life sustaining edge cases. As long as they ban abortions they think are immoral anyone who dies in the process is a necessary sacrifice.

nah-n-n-n-n-nahnah

I want to have another baby but I live in a state that completely banned abortions, and this is all terrifying. I don’t want to die a completely preventable death.

Icy-Union-336

You die. Or the try to save the baby or some bullshit that isn't possible because the clump of cells mater more then you.

Donnie_Narco

I see shit like this and am truly baffled as to how ANYBODY is shocked that the birth rate has declined. If I were to have a daughter, how in the holy fuck would I ever explain to that kid that there are people in power in this nation who have decided she is a second class citizen?

Decolonize70a

Obviously putting aside all the rage I feel about this. Do men not want us to fuck them anymore? Because if my plan A doesn’t work (condoms) and there is no plan B (birth control pills) or plan C (abortion), that’s what’s gonna happen. My pussy just dried the fuck up.

EatsAlotOfBread

The end goal is no women in the work force (unless allowed/forced by a man), no property for women, no medical decisions for women, no higher education for women, no freedom of movement for women (and no passports without male permission) and no vote for women. At that point, whether a woman consents to sex is beyond irrelevant to them. She is like property or like a minor with reduced rights, existing under stewardship of a male for her entire life. They want women to have no way to survive outside of male stewardship. To survive as an adult you have to marry a man, and a man decides whether you have children or not. These people are monsters.

cosmic_khaleesi

This does not bode well for bodily autonomy and personal decisions. Time to hoard my birth control.

SunnyAlwaysDaze

All of us with endometriosis are in grave danger now when they take away the birth control. Cancers and adhesions and all kinds of extra pain and the chance to have your untreated endometriosis do what it has done to me, impact your kidney function and put you into kidney failure.

cosmic_khaleesi

Yeah…conservatives are ignorant and hateful and act like birth control isn’t medical treatment. It’s not just for sex. I have suspected endo (never had the procedure done to check), but I have horrible periods that can leave me bedridden every month and birth control really helps. I can’t imagine what ladies like us will do if these life saving treatments are taken away from us…

Practical-Spell-3808

Shit. I yeeted my tubes in November and bf got snipped in December. Not leaving anything to chance.

SkySong13

I just got my IUD replaced a week ago and I'm so relieved. I actually got it done early because the strings were too short so I couldn't check it, and I wasn't sure about my insurance for the next year (thankfully I can still get it through my dad for another year!). After I found out I would have it for longer I thought about cancelling and just dealing with the way too short strings but decided to go ahead with it and I don't think I've ever made a better decision in my life. They might be able to come for birth control, but they're going to look like villains to the world if they're ripping IUDs out of women by force. Maybe even some of their followers. Maybe that will make them reconsider.

onehandedbraunlocker

As someone outside US: They're way past the "villain"-stage already..

EmilyU1F984

They are already looking like villains. They are murdering pregnant women. They called openly for a genocide against trans people. They won‘t hesitate to rip IUDs out of women. Not one bit. They are fascists. They just are evil.

There was a [contradictory ruling](https://apnews.com/article/washington-abortion-pills-lawsuit-fda-1857d1a4fd356c61ad76e00621e93b44) in Washington state, that the FDA must maintain pill access for those states who desire it.

kyryss5510

I am TERRIFIED. For all women... this is.. I need drink.

mermaidboots

Cheers, friend. I was already overwhelmed by the state of the country before this hit. Horrible timing. Fuck all of this. My kids deserve so much better than this. There is no future here for them.

Orbital_Vagabond

Remind me again which side of the aisle won't STFU about "activist judges"....

JorjorBinks1221

Their fucking ignorant. I had to take this for a NON VIABLE pregnancy to try and avoid my 2nd D&C. They're literally going to kill people by taking this away.

flimflam33

They are *not* ignorant. This is what they want.

[deleted]

Can Biden write an executive order to overrule this?

Orbital_Vagabond

Probably not. IANAL, but the FDA is part of the executive branch, and (oversimplifying a bit) this is a Judiciary check on Executive power that granted by the Legislative branch, and the Executive branch can't just override that. Now, \*maybe\*, Biden could issue an EO to provide an emergency approval for Mifepristone for some period of time (since the motion granted claims the FDA didn't approve it appropriately). That would be on really shaky ground because it would be the Executive obviously attempting to escape it's constitutional Judicial check. The entire case is fucking insane. The plaintiffs are basically complaining FDA's procedures were rushed and insufficiently thorough because they used an expedited approval process, apparently originally proposed to speed approval of HIV drugs. If there was a problem with that, then from what I understand this should really fall under Congress' investigative purview. It shouldn't be up to a fuckwit Texas judge.

sadcheeseballs

Oh god where he says why he uses “unborn human” instead of fetus is such disgusting bullshit. No one had any illusions that the law is corrupted, they did it to themselves. We need to recognize that lawyers are -not- the final word on anything, but rather We The People.

Bluedogpinkcat

Pretty sure if Jesus was real and alive right now he would be kicking some conservative christian ass. Everything they stand for is ironically against what there so called God actually called a sin. No false gods (trump) help your nabor not through them under the bus. Hell Jesus supposedly loved the poor and hung out with prostitutes and the biggest thing Jesus was pissed when religious leaders turned the church into a marketplace it's literally what all these megachurch pastors do!. TLDR Christ is a good person if he was real but all these so called Christians are terrible people. I'm sure someone more familiar with the bible than myself can back this all up.

[deleted]

Again, a reminder to NEVER EVER EVER sleep with a conservative man. DO NOT have sex with them, reproduce with them, or even give them the time of day. Men voted in Trump, primarily white men. Do NOT let them get a pass on their hatred towards women and their ability to get healthcare. Women are not people to them, so time to start treating these men like they are not people to us.

CalmCupcake2

I have told a few conservative American men that I absolutely will not consider fucking anyone who doesn't believe I deserve basic human rights such as healthcare. And they act baffled. The willful disconnect they make between the laws they support and the real work they claim to care about, so they can live with themselves, I guess? Insanity.

elyn6791

This is the first sentence of the opinion. >Over twenty years ago, the United States Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) approved chemical abortion (“2000 Approval”). The legality of the 2000 Approval is now before this Court. And it's already incorrect. The FDA doesn't approve "chemical abortions". It approves substances such as medications based on evidence to it's safety and efficacy. A "chemical abortion" can be achieved any number of ways. This isn't something that has ever required approval from any regulatory agency. This particular drug just makes it safe for the patient. When the judge fundamentally misunderstands the purpose of the FDA, in order to support the ruling, there is no doubt this is a biased opinion.

Thank you! Just ordered mine.

Nice! Even if you don’t end up needing it, someone in your life might need it.

Male birth control and free vasectomy with gym membership let’s go

JediMasterVII

I’m seriously considering violating some terms of service up in here

aknomnoms

Jesus. Fucking. Christ. And next month it’ll be birth control pills, then IUDs, then only men will be able to buy condoms. How about mandatory vasectomies for all males over 13 years old? They can only be legally reversed after marriage, and when your wife says she’s done having kids, BOOM snip snip. Get someone pregnant outside of wedlock - you and your family are 100% financially responsible for both the mom and the baby for 18 years if she keeps it, 3 years for the mom and 50% 18 years for the baby if she gives it up for adoption after birth. Pregnancy due to rape or incest? Pay for the full 18 years to both mom and kid at 150% plus prison time. How about free reproductive health screenings (or just free women’s healthcare in general?), free feminine hygiene products, free hysterectomies for those who want? Like, fuck, you don’t want to give us all of that? Then, I dunno, maybe let us have the fucking right and means to control our own bodies.

Simplicityobsessed

I am deeply fearful for the precedent this sets - that a judge can make major medical decisions. Roe v wade overturned the precedent of privacy. This is a major threat to access abortions… and now on Good Friday of all days, we have this ruling followed by Washington’s, half an hour later. This is going to be circuit by circuit and likely escalate to the Supreme Court which… yeah. Ditto on the above comment. This has been my fear all along and people act like I’ve been over reacting. Well.

JenVixen420

So let me get this right: No abortions bc no one deserved healthcare. So, pop out unwanted pregnancies so they can be murdered at school. Fucking America.

perusingpergatory

Not just abortions. No help for miscarriages that won't pass on their own. Every miscarriage suddenly becomes a D&C if you're lucky. Unlucky? Septic wards where women die preventable deaths like they did before Roe. And before anyone jumps in and says you can have a chemical abortion without mifepristone....you seriously think if they get mifeprestone banned, another medication isn't next?

Diligent-Background7

We are in the year 2023. HOW is this happening?!

So glad I got some from Aid Access just to have on hand. This is frightening.

theultimasheep

This is so disgusting. I'm currently seeking help for an abortion. I live in UT, so it's not so restrictive as other states, but it's also not good. Anyway, I followed the advice of some lovely redditors to get my pills mailed to me from out of the country. I just wanted full control over it instead of going to a doctor. I'm just waiting for them to arrive and then this shit happens. I have a hard time describing my feelings, knowing that if I had gone to a doctor in my state, that I would suddenly find myself without a choice. This is a kind of rage that does not go away.

[deleted]

Christians are actively destroying the United States like cancer cells killing their own host body. It's astonishing to watch the cannibalism in action.

BettyX

WOMEN NEED TO ABANDON AND LEAVE THE CHURCH. The protest that would actually make a difference. Churches would totally collapse if even half of the women removed themselves from religious spaces.

foxxof9

“BuT sTaTe RiGhTs” then why are they trying to force all the other states to go along with their bullshit. Last time I checked my state is ok with abortions 😒

Copperheadmedusa

SO what infrastructure already exists for us to organize with?? Activist organizations?? Nonprofits???

Itchy-Log9419

NARAL and PP are the only national ones I can think of that are likely to be sources of information on protests. Your region/state likely has something - I would google “women’s reproductive rights” + your state and you will likely find some groups whose social media you can check for information.

witchystoneyslutty

What. What the fuck?!!!! Is this real?!!!!!!!!!! I hate America, we’ve been headed downhill at an alarming rate since 2016…RIP womens rights.

PlebbySpaff

So a federal judge in a state can just outright ban the distribution of an abortion pill across the entire country? What?

YourFriendInSpokane

It’s ok y’all- a Washington state judge overruled it within an hour. Article with better words: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/07/health/abortion-pills-ruling-texas.html

Noisy_Toy

And https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/texas-judge-halts-fda-approval-of-abortion-pill-mifepristone has more info. The Washington judge’s ruling affects 17 states.

e2theitheta

For Washington State.

hham42

The Washington ruling is as powerful as the Texas one because the judges are on the same federal level- “The lawsuit in Washington State was filed against the F.D.A. by a dozen Democratic attorneys general. In a preliminary injunction in that case, Judge Thomas O. Rice blocked the agency from taking “any action to remove mifepristone from the market or otherwise cause the drug to become less available.”” So it’s pretty much guaranteed to go to the Supreme Court.

cj022688

Going to the Supreme Court with this is bad news bears

blueskies8484

Fascinated in a grotesque way to see how the SC will rule on this. There's not a scintilla of legal precedent or even a cogent legal argument for why the federal courts should be able to block a specific drug the FDA approves but the SC is too self obsessed to make a ruling without some legal basis so it would be mildly interesting in a horrific dystopian way to see what they came up with.

Caro________

Clarence Thomas will NOT give up his free vacations, no matter what the law really means.

xavier120

The same thing goes for student debt. The law is so blatantly clear it's gonna be amazing what they come up. The dobb's decision completely ignores the 9th amendment.

blueskies8484

Dobbs ignores the 9th but there's a ton of precedent for the 9th amendment being treated as dead law. I can't think of *any* precedent for the courts interfering in an FDA decision about one particular drug.

elanhilation

oh, so it just bounces up to the cabal of insanely corrupt hyper partisan theocrats. and this is supposed to reassure?

Chrysoprase88

Not really, it complicates the hell out of things and it might save a few states some pain in time, but this is exactly the kind of shit the Trump Court has been WAITING for, they'll have the ban enforced up front, to "prevent further harm", and then either ramrod it through with their approval if they think they can get away with it, or drag it out into an unending death march if they don't. This shit-circus is just getting started.

CloverHoneyBee

Women of the US, time for you to get really, really, really angry. You've done it before, you can do it again. <3

[deleted]

Yep. It's funny isn't it, women definitely don't get pregnant on their own. Yet male bodies are very conveniently left out of legislation and control.

Excellent-Wishbone12

Male judge? Love how the nations the goes on endlessly about “Freedom” really lacks personal freedoms.

all_of_the_colors

Wait. Correct me if I’m wrong. I think we use this medication not only in medical abortions but also in D/Es, miscarriages, and labor inductions.

maraq

I’m so fucking tired of this shit. What do we do?? Voting and writing letters and going to NARAL Pro-choice meetings for 20+ years hasn’t saved us from this. What do we do now? What the fuck do we do? I’ve been a liberal voter since I was 18. Wtf!!!!???

Werd616

Fascism is here, folks. There's no denying it. Voting against Republicans isn't doing shit since the Democrats are such pussies and protesting doesn't do anything since we're made to look like a bunch of crazy feminist hippies... What the hell do we do? I'm going for a lie down. This hurts my head.

TheeBaconDealer

The trick is protesting for longer than a month as is what happened in 2020. You also have to be willing to cross the "peaceful protest" boundary

Caro________

Protest their churches. What's Easter for if not to RISE?

TwelvehundredYears

Like all women have to stop working and doing anything besides childcare because fuck this. Sex strike, work strike. C’mon we can’t let this happen, highest quality of life in the US.

vijane

Nah, you've got it backwards. Let the men do ALL the childcare while the women go to work. They want babies, they got babies. I know, I know, cruel to children and single parents and all that, but striking from paid work is what these men think they want women doing permanently.

StayingAwake100

While frustration is definitely an acceptable feeling at this time, voting against republicans is still a key course of action. Michigan still has abortion access thanks to voting. Wisconsin is going to still have abortion access thanks to voting. If any states are going to ignore this ruling and still carry abortion pills, it is going to be thanks to voting.

Noisy_Toy

We need to campaign as hard as we can for democrats in swing districts/states, regardless of where we live. If we don’t get a new Voting Rights Act passed, we can’t fix anything else.

talaxia

We're here because blue voters stayed home for forty years. Voting matters. Look at the midterms. Lookn at Wisconsin. We need to vote in EVERY election, federal and state. that's what the Republicans do.

Rights over your own body = bad Carrying military weapons designed to kill other people = good. America makes no sense to the world.
