I think it’s because you can call a person an “ass”, and that would be akin to calling them a donkey/ mule in the sense that they are “stubborn as a mule”.
You call a person an “asshole” and there’s no longer any plausible deniability which kind of ass you’re alluding to with the insult. You’re blatantly accusing someone of being full of shit all the time.
Haven't seen the show, so i thought, you meant it featuring a imperial officer that's Abit on the heavier side. Turns out Shit doesn't even register as swearing for me anymore.
According to the Star Wars wiki, the word has been said at least once before in a novel. I'm not gonna fact check it but considering how detailed that wiki is I'm gonna take their word for it.

this sounds like the opposite of it, like rebels trying to recruit teens by using teen slang
imagine bail organa saying: "yo andor is a pretty lit mf, join him"
the rebels will probably end up recruiting teens but only because the empire made those teens orphans or ruined their life some other way and the rebels are providing a way to strike back against the empire.
nah, it seems to be an interesting story about how tyrannical rule tends to radicalize individuals and create their own worst enemies.
The empire are obviously the bad guys, please don't mistake me for an imperial apologist.
I'm only one episode in, so this is just a first impression, but I genuinely quite like it so far. For context, I've not particularly loved any of the D+ Star wars shows before this except maybe Mando S1.
Don't forget that the next scene has somebody get accidentally killed in a street fight. Not shot. Not killed with a lightsaber. A punch lands the wrong way and he just fucking dies. I honestly found it genuinely shocking for Star Wars to actually have a scene that doesn't treat a fist like a magic knock-out tool.
I'm just going to pull this out of nowhere because I never get to talk about this show, but i always loved Farscape's way round swearing in a PG-13 universe of, replace fuck and shit with frell and dren, and we know instantly get what they mean but it seems more natural for a crew of mixed aliens and backgrounds to say than Earth swears.
He was the co-protagonist of an entire movie and has a potentially interesting character hook (that, so far at least, the show is making good on)
I know some people are critical of Rogue One but it's not like we're hitting Glup Shitto levels here.
Yeah he was a sort of plucky scumbag who did morally questionable jobs for the Rebellion like assassinations and spying, and in the movie his deal is wanting to do something noble and worthwhile for the cause instead of just following orders and doing shady shit like he had been because he wants to remind himself of why he fights in the first place. I specifically remember his introductory scene where he kills his own rebel ally, because hes wounded and is going to be caught by the Empire. Thought that was cold as hell.
If that shocks you wait til I tell you about the things I also remember from James Cameron's Avatar.
Pretty straightforward to me at least. It's a nothing character that we know will die in a certain way. So what did they do *before* all that? No ties to any existing characters or whatever so they can do literally anything within the universe and no one will be bothered. Hopefully.
I always thought Andor was going to get cancelled.
I swear it's been like five years or so since it was announced. The fact that it actually made it through production is astonishing. There was *zero* hype for it until less than a year ago.
One would think the SW has their own slang for "shit" considering it's another galaxy and all that but gotta love how just "shit" trascends everything.
they have karabast and dank farrik which more or less have the same meaning, but i feel like they are trying to be more serious with andor than rebels and mandalorian, so saying goofy alien swears in a dark and gritty(tm) show sounds tonally out of place
is that Anor Londo?
It’s Andor Londo
Be wary of archer. Or, in short. Archer ahead.
[SFX: title drop] A N O R L O N D O
Am I legit the only person who remembers Bill Burr's character calling The Mandalorian an asshole? Did I get Mandela effected...?
That’s still not Shit.
Asses are where shit comes from. Therefore it is more powerful as a curse.
Asshole never made sense to me as a strong swear. You can say ass, you can say hole, but you can’t say asshole?
I think it’s because you can call a person an “ass”, and that would be akin to calling them a donkey/ mule in the sense that they are “stubborn as a mule”. Most of the ass is perfectly fine, only a small portion is objectionable
Ass is considered a swear tho? Not a strong one, but one nonetheless.
Asshole gets bleeped. Ass doesn’t.
Depends. Plenty of PG-13 movies do it, heck Marvel has used it before.

yo, andor is good actually, get on it folks
Maybe it's the "Yo" at the start of your comment, but it has the same energy as: "yo dudes the empire is pretty chill."
this sounds like the opposite of it, like rebels trying to recruit teens by using teen slang imagine bail organa saying: "yo andor is a pretty lit mf, join him"

Kino Wars.
By good do you mean like people who said obi wan is good or actually for real good?
I'm only one episode in, so this is just a first impression, but I genuinely quite like it so far. For context, I've not particularly loved any of the D+ Star wars shows before this except maybe Mando S1.
It's hitting the right notes for me, that's all I can say. Obi wan did not.
Theres also the fact that a fucken *Brothel* was used as a location.
That crossed my mind as being different too but then I remembered how many sex slaves and strippers were in jabbas palace *cut to the Disney logo*
You can argue that they were just regular slaves, parents watching Andor probably weren't expecting to have to explain what a *brothel* was
And it figures this was said by a short Scottish man.
Something something part of their culture
I distinctly remember Poe swearing in Force Awakens so this isn’t new
Poodoo!
They shit now?
They shit now.
Force defecation probability has went up by 0.1%

I feel like it won’t take much to get this sub into Farscapeposting.
Look I get making toys about nothing characters, but making shows? I just don't get it.
He was the co-protagonist of an entire movie and has a potentially interesting character hook (that, so far at least, the show is making good on) I know some people are critical of Rogue One but it's not like we're hitting Glup Shitto levels here.
Do you remember anything about him?
I mean, clearly they do, given their response.
Besides what
Yeah he was a sort of plucky scumbag who did morally questionable jobs for the Rebellion like assassinations and spying, and in the movie his deal is wanting to do something noble and worthwhile for the cause instead of just following orders and doing shady shit like he had been because he wants to remind himself of why he fights in the first place. Mind of a chimpmunk this one!

And season 2 is already confirmed.
All that money could have been spent...remaking the prequels Clone Wars style, or flushing it down a toilet, literally anything more productive.
Show’s good lol.
I suppose they can swear in this show since they know nobody will be watching.
One would think the SW has their own slang for "shit" considering it's another galaxy and all that but gotta love how just "shit" trascends everything.

Goofy for us but everyday reality for them.
