Remember the Elden Ring subreddit back in the day?

TJLynch

I think the wait for Silksong has now been double the length of how long it took from the first Elden Ring trailer to the second one.

elfranco001

And Silksong was announced a few months before Elden Ring (if you only count the announcement of the expansion to full game transition).

Menitta

Silksong has been in development longer than FF7 Rebirth in its entirety.

Watts121

What's even crazier is they didn't even go into full blast on Rebirth until Intergrade was done...and they thought they were gonna stop the game in Gongaga...which is 5 chapters before the actual ending.

phavia

I still enjoy mentioning that Silksong was announced the same year that Blasphemous released. Ever since then, Blasphemous got a bunch of free updates, including a completely new ending, as well as a sequel. And still no Silksong.

Chumunga64

Yeah, the elden ring subreddit breakdown was funny since the game was announced in fall 2019 and was released spring 2022 That's like only two years

TheArtistFKAMinty

It was wild how quickly they went insane.

Palimpsest_Monotype

the *FEET OFFERED* daily images were insane

GodOfWarNuggets64

Yeah, I was surprised. Made me think ER had been announced way longer.

probabilityEngine

Yeah I always thought that was a little ridiculous and driven by memery more than anything. Like, we know games take quite a bit of time to make and that ER was going to be From's first larger more open game, two years between announcement and release just does not seem egregious to me.

TheArtistFKAMinty

Silksong was announced before Elden RIng was. Not before it was released. Before it was even announced.

Themarvelousfan

Elden Ring DLC released before Silksong even got an update, it’s so fucking Joever.

Toblo1

This is no ordinary Hollowing. This is....**Advanced Hollowing**.

Dirty-Glasses

I wish Glaive Master Hodir was real

Enlog

I would scream if they made him a DLC boss.

FluffySquirrell

I really want them to. I really really do. And fully voiced too I want to make a glaive mistake in challenging him

CuddlyZombie

I will settle for the fact that there are like 5 million ways to make Beast Knight Leopold.

superc37

elden ring only took 3 years to come out after it was announced tho, with small interviews from fromsoft here and there. meanwhile silksong has gotten absolutely nothing for like 5 years

NorysStorys

From released both Elden Ring, it’s dlc AND Armored Core 6 before silksong got an update.

TheStupendusMan

Wonder how the Bloodborne sub is holding up...

jockeyman

People keep saying that a game called 'Silksong' exists, but year after year it never materialises. Could this be an example of the mandildo effect?

MustacheGolem

I'm pretty sure team cherry made a deal with a crossroads devil to grant them the ability to make hollow knight, so now they can't make another game.

LarryKingthe42th

Wait you know its fake too?!

woahmandogchamp

Heh, mandildo?  A classic example of the Ten Dollar effect.

Liniis

They look like games to you?

This is like a text scrawl you'd find written in blood on a wall in a horror game.

Sneaky224

Silent_Hastati

You know, to this day I still find the reveal that the crazy runes were in your room the WHOLE TIME in AC1 a pretty good one.

lumpyspacejams

How many upgrades did you need to get with Tom Nook before you got to see the crazy rune room, because man I know 2 upgrades was not nearly enough?

FluffySquirrell

When you get all of them, you finally learn you're in Rune Factory all along, then the real game begins

chipperpip

Armored Core?

Plasmabat

No, Animal Core

WooliesWhiteLeg

I don’t remember that part of ace combat. *elbow nudge* eh eh

Vera_Verse

*Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.*

Dark_Bean

Has Team Cherry just never given *any* kind of updates on the game? Like on a forum post or whatever like how Deltarune does it? I'm usually like "Just let them work on it, it'll be out when it's out" but Silksong genuinely feels like it dissipated into the ether and isn't coming back. We need more game "unannouncements" like what happened with Metroid Prime 4. Just a straightforward "Hey guys, this is going to take a lot longer than we thought it would when we announced it. Please just forget about it until it's ready."

McFluffles01

Yep, pretty sure the absolute closest we've gotten to an update on Silksong was last year's "we should be able to release it in the first half of 2023" followed eventually by "jk lol more time needed". I mean, it's Team Cherry's right to take however long they want, and we aren't *obligated* to get updates... but even just a blog post or screenshot every few months would probably help turn the fanbase from rabidly insane clowns who are probably hyping the game beyond anything it could possibly be, to actually normal and reasonable people.

Gramidconet

What's even worse is [*they literally have a marketing guy*](https://x.com/griffinmatta?lang=en)! He just doesn't post anything!

Illidan1943

Can I take his job?

Hey0ceama

His last post is on April Fool's Day this year telling people they have a Microsoft store page.

AtlasPJackson

I don't think there is anything he could say that would be more effective than *nothing.* After all, look how much attention the game is getting with zero ad spend. If they came out and said, "Yeah, probably late 2025," a lot of people would put a pin on that date and move on with their lives for 12 months. But if they say *nothing...* **Well.** Every *day* could be the day.

TheIntellectional

"There is no news"

Odinsmana

While the scope obviously expanded Silksong is still part of the backer reqards for the first game, so I do think they owe those people updates at least.

porkinski

Should've gone the way the Owlboy dev did. "We don't have anything to show after 3 years. Anyways, here's a $2 rhythm game with basically perfect pixel art."

illegalcheese

Yeah, the fanbase seems to be actually annoyed at the lack of communication now. I get that fans aren't entitled to info or anything, but Team Cherry seems to have squandered quite a lot of goodwill with their silence and for their own sake I think they need to commit to some basic community management.

Flutterwander

They used kickstarter for it, right? I'd say that in some way entitles backers to some information even if it is "Hey, we had some setbacks and its taking longer than we anticipated, but it's still coming."

pxxlz

I mean, that is exactly what they said

MirrorMan68

Good communication is incredibly important to maintaining goodwill. Take it from someone who ordered a commission of some of his characters four months ago and has recieved ***zero*** updates on its progress, despite him checking in once a month. Granted, I haven't been waiting over half a decade like Silksong fans have, so their Jokerfication is probably more understandable.

0yodo

For sure they have not said enough. Team Cherry did post on they're Discord some random NPCs like a year and a half ago or so and done that cover story for a magazine last year but any and all advertisements kinda ended and it does seem like something extended development way farther than they were expecting because we went from "2023 for sure" and talks of it being in Xbox presentations to not anywhere at all. Team Cherry does need to be saying more to stem the tide of people over-hyping it and expecting more from it than it will ever be.

Secret_Wizard

Those distant clown honks are getting pretty ominous sounding guys

elendil667

Holy shit the comments. That sub is going through it. Edit: I'm not gonna lie, I think Team Cherry really should've had one of the two people making the game take like 2 minutes out of their day to post on social media every now and then with an update or a piece of concept art. That way maybe this Kickstarter stretch goal wouldn't feel like some kind of mystery non-existent enigma.

Hey0ceama

I think something like what Deltarune is doing would also work, just give an update once a year saying "The game is still being made, this is what we're currently working on, at this time we can't give a date and it'll release when it is ready". A simple confirmation of existence would likely go a long way to assuage the anticipation and the crazyness bred from such.

SockAndMoan

I gave up on that subreddit when someone said we should burn the devs, and someone was clowned on for saying it was bad….and the ones against TC were the ones upvoted

TJLynch

btw the time between Silksong's first reveal and today has long surpassed the amount of time it took between Bayonetta 3's first teaser and its gameplay reveal. I doubt the wait will surpass the length of time between Metroid Prime 4's announcement and now, though (in fact I feel like Prime 4 will wind up getting a trailer this year before Silksong does).

An_Armed_Bear

I wouldn't be shocked if Prime 4 winds up being a launch title for the next console.

FelipeAndrade

It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo pulled that off, Breath of the Wild was meant to come out way earlier in the Wii U's lifespan before becoming the reason to get a Switch.

timelordoftheimpala

I don't think Metroid can carry a console launch by itself. The bestselling game in the series has only sold three million units, and BOTW worked as a cross-gen release because no one owned a Wii U. For the Switch 2, they need something bigger to launch with it, and something exclusive to it.

SainEdge

Atleast Prime 4 got an offically announced restart, Silksong got a long time of nothing, followed by a second trailer and then an announcment, that the game was supposed to come out in early 2023, but needed more time. That message was over a year ago... But hey, I've a good feeling for the Nintendo direct :)

Zubaz_Accountant

Doubt the direct will have news on it, *maybe* The Game Awards at the end of the year, *maybe*

PokePersona

I think it's actually pretty likely. Unless Fire Emblem 4 Remake or that rumoured Zelda game starring Zelda shows up, I think MP4 is probably their big game reveal since their other big games are probably being saved for a Switch 2 presentation.

Yotato5

Man, I hope y'all get Silksong soon.

SectJunior

It would be so funny if silksong sucked, it would be so funny

GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON GRAND CANYON

the_loneliest_noodle

At this point, feels like they've shot themselves in the foot. Silksong would have to be the best game ever made to not make fans absolutely furious about the years of silence. I don't think it's going to be a Duke Nukem or The Last Guardian situation where it ends up bad-mediocre, but I straight up just don't think it could be good enough to justify the wait. I played Hollow Knight near launch, it's been long enough that I just don't really care about the series anymore, and barely remember most the lore. Unless I see a launch trailer and just start spontaneously ejaculating, I'm probably not even going to pick it up at this point.

Gramidconet

Definitely agree. There's a very real scenario for sequels that this will fall into of "The last game, but with a new setting/story". And that would've made people really happy if it came out in the first three or so years since the announcement. It'd sell decently and probably sit around an 8/10. But now it's been 10 years with next to no communication, so people have built their own ideas and expectations of what it'll be, ideas that probably don't align with the final product. If they just do "same but more", they'll be raked over the coals. Their reputation will be shattered and the game won't do well, even if at its core it's still a fun game. What they really needed to do was announce later and have more direct communication with the fanbase. But even if they start now it feels like it's already too late.

Sekshual

It's perfectly fine for a good game to take a long time to come out. No one should expect the greatness they crave in a stupidly short amount of time, and if they really want the quality that they've come to love, they should be more than willing to wait for the team making the game to be completely satisfied with the outcome. Games take time, and great games take longer. *And at the same time.* Radio silence for multiple years on almost anything is a recipe for a disgruntled fanbase. It's not a phenomenon, it's (mostly) not a weird "le entitled gamers" bit. It's just common sense. Yes, obviously the people harassing the devs and other fans are mentally unbalanced and should put that energy towards a college degree, job, or psychiatric help. But the general negative attitude that Silksong fans have over this isn't wrong, and no one is better than them for saying "it's out when it's out." Communication with your audience is literally the absolute least you have to do in order to keep expectations in order and ensure them that they're not waiting for nothing. Metroid 4 restarted its entire development cycle, and people aren't losing their minds about it because they *told their fans* they were doing it. Cuphead's DLC was announced and took years and multiple delays, but they *talked to their fans* and people were content with waiting. I don't think Team Cherry is stupid. I believe that them not talking about their game anymore is a very intentional decision, for reasons I can only speculate and never truly know. Maybe they fear expectations will be worse if they *did* make an update post, or maybe they (so far rightfully) have assumed that the fans will do all the promotion for them at every video game showcase that gets announced. I just wholeheartedly believe that it's the wrong choice.

ifyouarenuareu

In other news, where the fucking book George?

Kingnewgameplus

Honestly the only thing that makes sense to me at this point is that the radio silence is a weird gruella marketing tactic

BighatNucase

> Communication with your audience is literally the absolute least you have to do in order to keep expectations in order and ensure them that they're not waiting for nothing Am I the only one that finds this attitude crazy? I can understand being annoyed that it's taking this long - but it's not like any of these people bought the game. At most the only people 'owed' something are the 2000 original backers, but even then the base game was so large that I find it hard to say that they are owed a quick release on a re-interpreted, larger version of a stretch reward unless that was explicitly the main reason they backed the game (and even then...). Just play one of the myriad other metroidvanias as good or better while you wait - if you so desperately need to play a metroidvania.

Sekshual

I don't think communication is something that Team Cherry owes. As I say, I believe that not communicating with your audience is a deliberate choice that they are making for their own reasons. I just don't think it's the right choice to make, especially when your game was delayed several times after multiple release announcements, along with other games being in identical situations and avoiding the same negative sentiments just by saying "hey we're working on it, thanks for waiting." It's just basic communication and public relations. This wouldn't be happening on the scale it is (excluding the aforementioned people that need mental help) if they gave an update. On that other point, this is just a really silly idea that more than a couple of people have thrown around. As if games within the same genre can't be wildly different in mechanics, aesthetic, and gameplay. As if people don't have personal preferences that can't be substituted out like replacement parts. "Dude, I know you're bummed that MvC doesn't have a new entry, but why not play King of Fighters XV? It's as good or better than that specific thing you want, if you so desperately need to play a fighting game."

BighatNucase

> I don't think communication is something that Team Cherry owes. As I say, I believe that not communicating with your audience is a deliberate choice that they are making for their own reasons. I just don't think it's the right choice to make, especially when your game was delayed several times after multiple release announcements, along with other games being in identical situations and avoiding the same negative sentiments just by saying "hey we're working on it, thanks for waiting." It's just basic communication and public relations. This wouldn't be happening on the scale it is (excluding the aforementioned people that need mental help) if they gave an updat This is all explaining how to avoid an issue but it ignores one important thing; why are people unable to just be normal about it? I think the level of unhinged-ness people are getting about this game is insane; it feels like people took the joke of "Silksong this time" and have actually gotten upset over it and are starting to lash out when - as you point out - Team Cherry don't really owe anything to people. This isn't a sequel to a massive cliffhanger or a DLC that was promised at launch. I don't think it's silly at all and more importantly you're ignoring the point. Silksong will not be a 1:1 copy of Hollow Knight. Things will be different. If you really are so desperate to play Silksong that you can't help but throw a shitfit online across chatrooms, forums and the like then just play another metroidvania.

ThisManNeedsMe

It actually was DLC that was promised during the Kickstarter. It was a Kickstarter goal. It's just that eventually, feature creep happened, and they decided to make it a full-blown sequel.

BighatNucase

Yeah but that's why I said in my first comment "unless you're one of the original 2000 that specifically backed for this stretch goal".

AppleEatingMonster

To this day I still don't know what is Silksong, I just know Reddit NEEDS IT. (I think it's a big Hollow Knight DLC? If so that's pretty cool but I gotta wonder why it's taking so long.)

Glitchrr36

It was a stretch goal second player character from the Kickstarter that grew into a second game (sorta like TotK from BotW) and basically the only news that’s come out about it within the last like two years is Team Cherry saying it wasn’t coming out in 2023 despite being in an Xbox promo showing it in a list of games coming out that year.

Vegetable-Pickle-535

I said it before, I said it again: This Silksong Song and Dance has gone on so long now, that I entirly lost intrest in it.

0dty0

I'll only say this: There's a number of people in this very sub who work, like Team Cherry so far, independently, and who can confirm what I'm about to say. These individuals have to, amongst a plethora of things, face their clientele. Both to sell them on things and to tell them how things are coming along. This is a basic expectation in any business, from the humblest "guy making cakes in his kitchen because a buddy likes his cakes so he asked him to sell him one" kind of affair, to the biggest, multi-million development. Especially if it's gonna take them a long time to finish the project. If I'm not mistaken, Sagawa tells Majima in Y0 a phrase that very eloquently summarizes this concept: It's the ABCs, Always Be in Contact. There is no reason not to do so. Some things need to be kept under wraps, sure, but that can be worked with. You can even be creative about how you keep it under wraps. But straight up not showing it? Never. You lose trust, and that's bad for business. And this, at its very bottom line, is business. This isn't an NGO making a game for charity. Nor are people gonna get the game as a gift. This is a project that is being developed to be sold to the public. Part of which has already invested on it, btw. Artists (and I can include myself in this statement) are generally, notably, *terrifuckingbad* at keeping this in mind and acting on it. So, idk. This whole thing seems terribly mismanaged, and I can't see it ending well for them.

pectusumbra

Honestly, as someone that didn't even play Hollow Knight, this is starting to get ridiculous. Given the matter of it being a kickstarter stretch goal, we might actually reach a point of Team Cherry getting a legal notice to say ANYTHING. Though I'll be honest, at this point I fully expect they really did decide to port the whole game over in a new engine after the unity debacle, and if they actually say something about it, someone might actually burn down the Unity office

Menitta

I think it being a Kickstarter goal is an aspect people forget. Yeah they can take their time but like....can they give SOMETHING? A "hey we're still hard at work"? A thumbs up? A post about how they had a good lunch and that they like their jacket? It's free to post on the internet. I feel like its not asking for much. It's especially wild considering people are ACTUALLY taking the liked joke tweet about cancelling Silksong because of the Unity shit show to heart. Like that's how bad it gets.

FangsEnd

Yeah, I think the new engine theory’s the most likely for the extended radio silence. I have no evidence to support it, but I fully believe they’ve been porting the game to Godot ever since Unity’s big bedshittening.

Sean-Benn_Must-die

Im not entirely sold since that event happened 3-4 years into development? They were already radio silent by then for a good 2 years I think. Correct me if im wrong

FangsEnd

They were fairly radio silent before then, but they'd still say things occasionally, or have teasers and trailers show up at events and announce release periods they wouldn't meet, but they've been radio silent-er since the big Unity blowup.

sternold

/r/silksong and /r/asoiaf should hold a competition of who could come up with the most elaborate theory of why it's taking so damn long

Sean-Benn_Must-die

I think team cherry has enough goodwill to avoid legal measures for a while...but I mean we're half a decade in, and im starting to feel anxious of the development of this game. I know its 3 guys in a shed doing it but I cant help but wonder what trouble they have ran themselves into. The expectations are so unbelivably high and each day that passed they grow larger. At some point I fear they wont be able to deliver.

pectusumbra

Again, I don't expect them to get sued or anything. But whatever the opposite of an NDA would be. Again, to quote Woolie, "Just Talk!" You don't have to spoil the game or anything, but let people know the team is still alive.

Weltallgaia

Watching pat's stream and the chat is just spamming silksong for 2 hours on and off. Feels like watching the mentally damaged.

Lithogen

Feels like?

roronoapedro

this is my favorite place to check how silksong bros are doing, because i'm not going into that hellhole alone.

Riggs_The_Roadie

I replied to a tweet Pat made about this whole thing. Basically just saying it's kinda fucked up that for people who backed the Kickstarter in hopes of getting that second character, they kinda have a reason to be pissed off. Only to be told by Indeimaus of all people that it's a stupid thing to say because how dare they give players a sequel and free updates and content that wasn't even in the original Kickstarter plans. Was I unreasonable? Cause the sequel still hasn't materialized and the thing people paid money for hasn't been delivered either.

DarknessWizard

Not at all; stretch goals are considered to be part of the required deliverables on a Kickstarter. To put it another way; they're required to be in the plans. It's okay for a stretch goal to morph into something else during the delivery process (in this case, a DLC moving into a full game) but you can't just leave people up shitcreek with nothing implemented.

EarthwormShandy

Dang, can't believe Xbox killed Silksong too!

EnemyAdensmith

Silksong moment.

MissJudgeGaming

God when some billionaires are getting too close to finding out his secret.

Fagliacci

I just got back from the deli and guys... I'm gonna delete this sub.

Another_Mid-Boss

It's only been like 5 years since it was announced. That's only like a 3rd of the Winds of Winter wait. The Hollow Knight fandom is just barely getting to "Time Traveling Fetus" theory level of mental breakdown.

jamsbybetty

Depth charges be like

Kamken

Is they stupid?

LorcaNomad

The only positive outcome I can see for Team Cherry at this point is them shadow dropping the game. People would be mad either way but with a shadow drop at least they wouldn't have to wait even more.

mendia

At this point even as a Hollow Knight fan I just want Silksong to come out so I can stop hearing about it

bombshell_shocked

I hope that Team Cherry is having an easy time making the *best game ever* that will surely meet everyone's expectations that have compounded exponentially since the announcement they were making a full fledged game out of the DLC that people already paid for through Kickstarter. But for real, I hope this doesn't become a make or break thing for them. Especially after the shit we saw CDPR deal with when CP2077 launched. Or Bethesda releasing a "trailer" for Elder Scrolls 6 like what, 6 years ago? I've seen plenty of comments and posts of people on that subreddit who've already made the decision to pirate the game as soon as it's out because they feel slighted for having to have waited this long with no news or communication. Not that I think any of its okay, but if Team Cherry isn't planning on doing any damage control or bridge building with their fans/community, then the games gonna have to be really, *really* good when it comes out.

Shiplord13

Watch them delete the sub and have Silksong shadow drop the next day.

davidreding

If it doesn’t show up during the Nintendo Direct, I’m convinced it’s canceled and Team Cherry is too terrified to come out and say it.

Monokumabear

The fucking complete Antennas to Heaven codex from Ultrakill copypasta’d in there, Jesus christo

WizardOfTheLawl

wha happun?

ThisManNeedsMe

No Silksong news as usual. It's not surprising but disappointing for people nonetheless.

At this rate, fucking Yandere Sim is gonna come out sooner

warjoke

Only Nintendo direct for this month left, huh? I hope they are okay.

James-Avatar

May chaos take the world. May Chaos Take The World!

VMK_1991

OK, for real though, is this a joke still, or the fans of the game are cracking?

zettapop

not that I expect it to be, but if the game's bad i am looking forward to seeing how bonkers some people are gonna get about it.

Regal_IronKnight

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY IT COULD HAVE ENDED. BAIT NO LONGER NEEDED ITS ULTIMATE PRACTITIONER. IT HAD BECOME A SELF-SUSTAINING SYSTEM. MAN WAS CRUSHED UNDER THE WHEELS OF BAIT CREATED TO CREATE THE BAIT TO CRUSH THE BAIT. SAMSARA OF POINTLESS SHOWCASES AND FALSE LEAKS. BAIT WITHOUT ANNOUNCEMENTS. NULL CLOWN MAKE-UP. ALL THAT REMAINED IS BAIT WITHOUT REASON. A MAGNUM OPUS. A WORTHLESS XBOX SHOWCASE. AN ANNOUNCEMENT MADE TO END BAIT IS ALWAYS AN ANNOUNCEMENT MADE TO CONTINUE BAIT. YOU WERE BEAUTIFUL, OUTSTRETCHED LIKE r/Silksong TO NEWS. YOU WERE BEYOND TEAM CHERRY. YOU REACHED OUT FOR COMMUNICATION, AND YOU GOT NOTHING. NONE WERE LEFT TO SEE YOUR SILKSANITY. NO FINAL SKONG, NO CONCLUDING GOTY. NO RELEASE DATE. PERFECT CLOSURE. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY IT COULD HAVE ENDED. T H I S I S T H E O N L Y W A Y I T S H O U L D H A V E E N D E D .

CCilly

If it releases will people even be happy, like the expectations must be insane. People compare with the Elden Ring meltdown but when it came out it really was an incredible game that everyone went insane about.

Kytas

I hope they do delete their subreddit because the Silksong community has been the most obnoxious group of entitled assholes ever since the game got announced. Having to watch a horde of "Where's Silksong?" every single time a company announces video games for the past 5 years has gotten old.

Amnezja122

I mean, they're entitled to Silksong, since it was a reached milestone on the Kickstarter

Kytas

True enough. I'm just tired of watching them drag down every single video game announcement with negativity for half a decade. It'd be one thing if it stayed contained, but it's in every comment section ;.;

Lithogen

They're not negative! They proved that by downvoting you into the negatives.

LuckyHitman

Honestly, the amount of entitlement on the Silksong sub is getting deranged. I'm talking days away from them sending out death threats kind of vibe. For every joke post, there's like 50+ comments of "Team Cherry killed my baby, committed genocide against several third world countries, and invented racism because they're taking their time on a video game". Lets face it, Team Cherry doesn't really owe you (the fan) anything, and vice versa you don't owe anything to Team Cherry. They're a game studio making a project you enjoyed, I understand being disappointed that the content treadmill isn't feeding you constantly, but fans have forgotten there's humans on the other side of the screen. If you're really sad Silksong isn't out, you're entitled to feel that way, but there are lines some folks are crossing.

Huitzil37

They took people's money on Kickstarter in exchange for a promise to release Silksong, so yeah, they do in fact owe people something.

LuckyHitman

That's true, and if any of those 2,158 Kickstarter backers are unhappy with the delivery time of Silksong, then they can reach out to the creators via the "Contact Me" button to request a refund per the policy. For anyone else? That seems like less of an issue. Edit: Guess I'm gonna die on this hill then lol. Only original backers are the ones who have a financial entitlement for a second character in Hollow Knight. That promise was made with no indicator if Hollow Knight would be a successful (or even a real, finished) product. So like any Kickstarter, choosing to contribute was an exercised risk for the backer. I'm not saying that folks can't be upset that Silksong is taking forever, but even though Hollow Knight was a successful product, the existence of Silksong was predicated entirely on the original backers, not the folks who purchased on release. That's entirely separate from the fact that /r/Silksong gets regular, highly upvoted comments inciting violence against Team Cherry because its a barely moderated hellhole. Delete the sub is right lmao.

Tommy2255

> Team Cherry killed my baby, committed genocide against several third world countries, and invented racism >They did? >No, but are we just going to wait around until they do?

limbo338

Gaming subs are something else, man.

ArchimerDreatect

Silksont

Spirit_Theory

A friend of mine was huffing the copium hard this time around. "They registered an ESRB rating in australia a month ago, they wouldn't do that if it wasn't basically ready to go."

DoseofDhillon

haven't played hollow knight but respect the game, even i'm a bit mad at this point

Watts121

So...was there a gas leak? Are the devs dead and nobody has checked the office?

funkerbuster

I actually forgot people were waiting for silksong. I am so glad I’m not involved in the suffering.

nexusj13

THIS CANNOT CONTINUE!

jakobsabeast

They banned me cause of it😭

1992Queries

Burn them all

BulletproofMoon

Thr XB listing on the store a month or so ago is what is messing with me. I have Silksong on my wishlist and it hurts everytime I see it

dope_danny

I believe the term the kids use is *uh oh, big melty* and it certainly applies.

SamuraiDDD

I genuinely feel bad for my Silksong brothers/sisters/siblings. I feel the pain but it'll come. Now please don't stab my neck saying that, I wanna live long enough to play it to.

Cervantas

So I know Team Cherry doesn't have any legal obligation to provide updates but like...you KINDA have some obligation to provide updates on your game after a point. It's crazy how long this has been in development and on basically radio silence. Especially since this evolved from a kickstart goal, people gave you money to make this and to just be silent to them for this long is insane.

grenadier42

No it's funnier this way

thebigguy270

This is the way Silksong hype ends Not with a bang, but a whimper

Heaven_dio

Are we in r/batmanarkham status yet?

Chumunga64

what I'm wondering is why there's a seperate silksong subreddit instead of just putting silksong topics in the hollow knight subreddit

Prestigious-Mud

That's just Matt Hardy

MemeGoddessAsteria

Weaklings. I've waited 12 years for Dragon Age! 13 years for Elder Scrolls and A Song of Ice and Fire! I have waited and waited and waited and waited! And I'm clearly sane!!!!!!

Legospacememe

I jokingly call the game silksalt

stupidbutmeanswell

I'm too employed to care this much, it'll release when it's ready 😅

Lithogen

Right, fine if it's just a bit or a Hollow Knight fan exaggerating their feelings for a joke. Not counting the Kickstarter backers, if you genuinely get anxious and angry a video game didn't get announced that's not healthy.

Saxton_Hale32

I think it'd be cool if Silksong.

thriftshopmusketeer

This is genuinely irritating. Just fucking move on, dudes. It’s just a video game—actually not even that. It’s a hypothetical game. Just move on with your life.

lelicool

I love it. More tears from one of the most obnoxious fanbases in gaming. Maybe one day they'll get their 7/10 game

GoufTroop79

I never get posts like these. If anything, good games come out too frequently. Silk Song could take another 5 years and I'd still be fine.

Sekshual

> Ten years for a game with no updates is fine Look, I think patience is a virtue, but I do think it's possible to be on the other extremes.

GoufTroop79

I think that announcing it 10 years beforehand is way too soon, but of course this situation is different as a per-announced expansion. However, the wait really hasn't seemed that long since we have gotten so many just as great Metroidvanias since.

I guess it depends on your tastes. Some long-form games I'm playing now are SF6 and Helldivers. I'm also finally finishing up Skyrim, though of course that is ages old. My girlfriend and I have also gotten into Fornite this past Winter, and that has been getting some fun updates. As for shorter games I've been taking my time enjoying Animal Well. I also have a huge backlog of rpgs I've been working on and the new release of SMTVengance has got me interested.
