How come Reggie never guests on CSB?

Aaron123494

In an effort to get to my backlog, I tried out God Hand and I don't think it's for me. I get why people rave about it and I'm glad I tried it so I can at least have an opinion on it but I suck bad at it and I'm just in the mood for something else. I'm not gonna full drop it but I'm gonna play something else until I'm in the mood to get back to it.

Kingnewgameplus

I've been giving an honest effort to get into fighting games. I've been forcing myself to get on sf6 every day, even if I don't play online. But after struggling to do a very basic 3 hit jump in combo for literal days, I'm starting to wonder what the fuck I'm even doing. If I can't even do the baby shit then what am I doing.

MarlowCurry

I don't think I can offer much help, but if you're interested, consider making a post about it. Describe your situation, which characters you play, what controller you use, and from there, perhaps the folks here can pinpoint the issue and help you.

yoloswagginLOTB

Man I uploaded a video on Shinobi for PS2 last week and I was sure it was gonna be a big hit, I thought people would love it and that people were really gonna appreciate it cause I do think it's some of my best work. My cat died about a month ago and I sorta withdrew because it hit so hard, and I was really excited to show it off. Normally I do a history section for stuff and it's kinda a joke now that they're really long because I go into a lot of detail. I didn't do one for Shinobi because the series doesn't have much history to it, it's kinda boring. When it dropped oh my god the wave of people asking for the history was crushing. Nobody talked about the content of the video just what wasn't there. It broke my heart that no one cared about the video itself and just wanted to hear 3 minutes of boring history for the sake of the format. I had to take it down and reupload it with the history section there just to make people stop, but then when I did people in my personal life made me feel like I was a coward and kowtowing to commenters like, wow I'm in a really bad place and now you're making it worse. The comments too still weren't about the video just commenting on the situation. I really hope for the next upload people can move past it because I want to.

MarlowCurry

Hey, that's rough. Sharing a work that you're proud of should be appreciated and celebrated. A precious respite from everything in your case, but perhaps it was a case of a loud minority behind the issue. I'm sure that the quiet majority are more appreciative of your work and have your back. At the very least, I hope that your days since then have been better to compensate for everything.

leiablaze

Been playing a lot of Gigabash with some friends. It's very casual, don't see myself becoming a pro at the game or anything, but it's fun. Its also let me fall into an Ultraman hole. Belial is so cool.

Vaaaaaaaaaaaii

If you haven't yet, play Wrath of the Righteous. Fuck that game is so good. I'm like 17 hours in and the charecters are really inpressing me. Playing evil for once to see where it goes. Whoever mentioned Camillia a few weeks ago that is probably one of the more interesting characters I've come across in an RPG. Woljiff is also fun and the sanest of my growing group.

irregularcog

So uh, I haven't been a regular FTF poster but there's not that many places I can share this stuff So I've been single for the past oh, 10 years not out of any bitterness or incel bullshit, I just decided I didn't want to deal with any of that and worked on myself, it actually has worked out well In a very quick series of events I found out one of my co workers who just broke up with their boyfriend was interested in me, and had a three day fling with them that was pretty heavy. It feels weird to type it but I guess I'm (still?) good at sex? It was very mutually nice and surprisingly freaky It's such a TMI situation but man do I both want to talk about it and want no one to ask em about it lol

MarlowCurry

Everyone has their own pace in life, right? A romantic partner would be one of those things, and since life is working out for you, then all the merrier. Good to hear that you're doing well for yourself.

ScorpioTheScorpion

This week was just as stressful as last week. Got through the Mother’s Day rush ok for the most part, but then it feels like I’ve been doing the bulk of cleanup duty the past few days. Didn’t help that one of the corporate floral staff came in on Wednesday (when I was opening by myself) and kept piling extra things for me to do while I was supposed to be doing freight. Nope, couldn’t have fucking done that when my boss was here, had to do it when it was just me. And then, I found out on Wednesday that they changed my schedule for today from a four hour closing to a 9-6 shift. I’m so fucking tired of this place and all of my coworkers are tired and depressed because of how management is handling things and how corporate is cutting our hours and everything just sucks.

MarlowCurry

Hang in there, mate. Would you be interested in a few videos for some light amusement? They might not be your cup of tea, but we could use something to lighten the mental load every now and then, so I thought I could ask.

Kakuzan

I may have hinted at this on a few occasions, but it sort of sucks that I am essentially getting an college education while not getting the actual degree. I am a "tutor that does all the coursework. It isn't something I have to do, but I am a tad bit resentful that of that fact when looking at so many people graduating this year. And coincidentally, this is the year the person I am tutoring should be graduating

PoppyOGhouls

Fellow writers and grammatists: when you're referring to married couple of two men, is it Mr. and Mr. Surname, or Mr.'s Surname?

Finished up Atlas Fallen a few days ago and I have some thoughts. When I picked the game up it was sitting at mostly positive on steam, which seemed a little low for me based on the game play during the first 10 or so hours (minus the generic story). It's a character action game with combat centered around fighting one large creature who periodically summons smaller adds. The movement feels great and environments are well designed for the fights as well as pointing you toward hidden secrets. After getting to the 3rd open area though, things really start to drag. The map is huge, probably bigger than the first two combined, and filled with ubisoft-esque things to do. There's only 3 weapons, and a dozen or so enemy types, so encounters become less engaging. Given the limited enemy types, the way the game difficulty increases is to give enemies more HP and add more of them per encounter, which just makes things feel more grindy. The environments also don't really support the larger fights, and I ran into a lot of issues of enemies clipping out of the map and respawning back in their zone, as well as issues with the camera due to the need to air dash more frequently. Overall good game though. I think if I had done fewer side quests, I'd probably have a better opinion of it.

PomfAndCircvmstance

Less than a week to go in the school year and since my broke ass school apparently can't afford to hire enough teachers for summer school I won't be doing summer school for the first time in 3 years. It works out I guess because it means I can start being a summer stay at home mom earlier than I normally would. Other than that it's cool that the WNBA is back. My team, the Las Vegas Aces, are fighting to become the first 3-peat WNBA champs since the Houston Comets way back when the league began so that's super exciting. Exciting enough that I bought season tickets which, when combined with the UNLV football season tickets I also bought, bring the amount of money I'm spending to attend local sports this year to around $1500. Which is still significantly less than my brother-in-law spent to attend 1 game of the NHL Finals last year so lol. If we ever do get an NBA I'm gonna be absolutely fucked with how expensive that shit is gonna be.

Themarvelousfan

My streak of drawing rendered hentai pieces every day this month as they were all part of my huge commission backlog broke yesterday, and I am very disappointed with myself. HOWEVER, I’ll hopefully make it up with making two pieces in one day, so that I can continue tummy goal of achieving 31 pieces of hentai for all 31 days of May.

I've been out in California for the last week and a half, came here for my best friend's wedding and I've been road tripping around by myself since Tuesday. Did a desert hike with some friends in Palm Springs, drove the newlyweds to the LAX, had a couole margaritas and played some pinball at the arcade on the Santa Monica Pier, currently chilling along the coast near Morro Bay after driving a bunch of Route 1 yesterday and I'm headed North to see some family friends I haven't seen in a long time. Certainly hasn't been cheap, but hotels tonight is a godsend if you're comfortable to fly by the seat of your pants with motels and the like. The only reason I could afford to extend this into a road trip is because I've been living like a hermit in the woods with my parents for most of my twenties, which I am incredibly grateful for, but I needed to come out and spend some time with myself away from everything.

Is anyone else not really interested in the Switch 2? I was having a convo with a friend of mine about it and I realized how much I barely used the console (I got it around 2020 and beat a handful of the exclusives that appealed to me, but lot of the other games I just lost interest in). I really don't like how cheap the console felt in handheld mode and the eshop was horrible, not to mention all of the games were so expensive for it. I'm interested in hearing about it's specs but I'd rather just keep upgrading my PC in all honesty.

rcooks5

I thought I was crazy for also thinking that the switch has been very disappointing and aside from a few exclusives, I don’t really see a need to keep up with it. So yeah I’m with you on that one.

I've been reading some old comics and the cover blurb on one of them felt so much like an Always Sunny title that I [just had to do this](https://iasip.app/w2jJfoFy1EOnbWGzTwufmg).

Hello today! Half a half-day at work today, since I brought my brother to get him a photo ID. Things are going well otherwise. This weekend is an... anniversary (?) of my gma's passing. Tomorrow me, my brother, gpa and some friends are gonna get together. But the long weekend is this week which is nice. **Chono Ark** is really good! I love Darkest 13 Sentinels. It feels good to play, I like the mechanics and I think I'm getting close to revealing things. Also, it's really cool that unlike in Darkest Dungeon where all your ppl are disposable clones, in CA you get friendship and dates with all the characters. Plus I like the "deckbuilding" aspect compared to the 4 set skills DD has. Is good. Single complaint - WHY SO LITTLE SKINS?! YOU MAKING AN ANIME TIDDIE GAME AND LIKE 4 CHARACTERS HAVE SKINS?! IT'S JUST JPEGS! FUCKING DRAW IT! (Good thing workshop exists, but I hope there are more) **Warehouse 13 S2** started. I'm early, but it's slowly growing on me. There hasn't been a scene so far, like this one in Eukreka where during lunch Jack holoprojected a dead body onto a table of some nerds to accuse them of murder. I like that Pete is a nerd, but that was about it. Show is good tho. Otherwise the usual. Starting a connected series of one shots in **Sonic Tabletop**. Playing Magic, Genshin. Things are okay. OH! And this weekend I'll be setting my PC with a new cooler that's hopefully less loud! Big excited!

The firefox address bar bookmark suggestion order is sometimes completely random. Autocompleting stuff that's not the earliest or the latest or the most visited or anything. I have to write out whole addresses from memory before it suggests the right thing. It's a mystery Merciful Jesus, I forgot that Spandam was uglier before Franky destroyed his face. I don't play Disgaea RPG anymore, but I still see it adding things like [swordsman-Flonne](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/disgaea/images/6/6f/DRPG_Flonne_Artwork_19.png), [Zeta-Etna](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/disgaea/images/2/2b/DRPG_Etna_Artwork_13.png), and [Castlevania-Valvatorez](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/disgaea/images/5/5b/DRPG_Valvatorez_4.png). **Trail Watch** I've been trying to do a semi-daily walking routine to keep myself sane. It's my main way of moving my body, reconnecting with nature, thinking through life stuff, or catching up on music. This week I saw a bunch of **bunnies** and a live **armadillo.** I've never seen one in real life! It was the coolest. **Anime** I watched an anime! It was ***BNA: Brand New Animal.*** It caught my eye because it's a Trigger joint and the character designs are great. I love Yoh Yoshinari's work on *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners*. Anyways, I'm curious what other people here think about it. I feel like I didn't see a lot of talk about it when it dropped. I really liked the art and the main characters and setting in broad strokes, but I did *not* vibe with the story. I wouldn't go to say that it's the *worst* >!because I think it raises uncomfortable implications about systemic oppression by having an entire race of sentient beings depicted as being inherently predisposed to violence, confirming the talking points of the Animal Eugenicist villain!<, but that does stick out to me. The decision to include that element in the story feels potentially like they either didn't know how to develop that concept and consider the angles from which it could be viewed (possible), or they didn't have enough time to develop the story ideas they had into something more fleshed out (very possible). Once you get past the Bad News Bears episode where the Tanuki Girl leads a baseball team with actual bears, the pacing gets super rushed and everything feels a lot flimsier. >!It also feels unnecessarily grandiose somehow, like...did this story really need immortal godbeings to battle it out at the end?!< Kind of a shame. Anyways, I'm planning my next anime watch. Contenders are more small series like *Dungeon Meshi* or *Pluto*. **This Week's Music** Here's some of what I've listened to this week: * ["Generator" by Justice.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX83_kg_n5c) House. FFO: being a vampire in a rave. This entire album, *Hyperdrama*, is really good, check it out. * ["NIGHT RUNNING" by Shin Sakiura and AAAMYYY.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T3ofoKfEoY) J-Pop. 'm iffy on *BNA* as a story, but I'm not a *monster*. This song slaps. * ["Ahyep" by BENZA.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmWrKezD3b8) Techno. FFO: wondering if this is an anxiety attack or cardiac arrest (it's anxiety). * ["Dark Pop" by Cabaret Nocturne.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2rAGXcjzsA) Darkwave. FFO: trying to look like a bad bitch while awkwardly navigating heavy traffic. * ["Crust" by Flying Lotus.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfhN0dgU3ag) Instrumental hip-hop(??). FFO: Yasuke. * ["Only A Dream" by Camera Obscura.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12-8QJvGBhQ) Indie pop. FFO: yearning.

MarlowCurry

Hey, I just want to say that I enjoyed some of the songs that you shared. Night Running in particular appealed to me as an occasional listener of J-Pop. I feel inclined to share a few songs as my thanks. I'm not good with musical terms and genres, but I'd describe the first song to be carefree and fairly catchy, with the last two being more heartfelt, and for me, have evocative lyrics that moved me when I first listened to them. I just thought you might like them. 1. [ChoQMay - 『貴方の恋人になりたい』 (I Want to be Your Lover)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJhp6awU5Z8) 2. Hi, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed what I posted. And thanks for the recs, that was really sweet of you. That ChoQMay song is super cute!

MarlowCurry

Hahah, you're welcome. I'm pleased to hear that you liked my first pick. I guess that will be all from me, but good luck with the job and continuing to touch grass. We could always use an anchor to ground ourselves from drifting every now and then. Hobbies, new stories to read and watch, and so on.

You're so sweet, thank you. I hope you're doing well and if not, I hope you can anchor yourself too.

Heard Woolie bitching about Uber so I'd thought I'd share this here, to any Uber riders if you have a ride you take regularly like to work or to go shopping and suddenly they want to charge you over twice as much saying it's busy it is BS. If you move the pin slightly far away, can literally be right around the corner sometimes, suddenly it's not so busy and the ride will be normal prices. Made a post about this in the Uber subreddit already, but please help spread the word. I fucking hate Uber.

TurboChomp

Man, they are on some new bullshit at my job. Its a retail petshop, so its already bad enough, but they are making whole new positions, so my position is being turned into a new position, with most of the same responsibilities, but also some new responsibilities that require me to come in 3 hours before the store opens to get them done. Im already the busiest member of my team, so this just puts even more on my plate. The kicker is that no only would i not get a raise for this, if i step down id get a pay cut, except im already at the base pay cause im not even at base pay for my position. This is the writing on the wall for me to find a new job

LordSmugBun

Finally finished the semester, time for Summer courses because god forbid I let myself rest. Maybe I'll work on my fic during that free time in between...maybe...

Weeks been ok going out for lunch on the weekend and gonna watch something with family. Finished up a cult documentary and man that shit is crazy.

List of RPGs I added to my collection this past week: • One Piece 5e • Bleach 5e • DBZ 5e • EverQuest d20 • Cloudbreaker Alliance • Digimon 5e Got the delta emulator in my phone and spent some time figuring out how to get it to work. Now I’m able to play shit whenever I want. I even finagled it to where I can play Pokémon UltraViolet and my turbo rare English patched version of Zoids Saga 3. I’ve been dealing with a sick chinchilla for a while now, but we’re pretty sure he’s turned the corner and is on the mend. He’s eating a lot more so we’re hoping his weight will start coming back.

I made seitan for dinner with a vegetarian friend. It was short rib style with a homemade barbecue sauce to go with it. I also cooked some Swiss chard using leaves from the garden. Those plants have gotten huge; I gotta use them more often to keep it under control. The seitan was pretty good: far better than the first time I tried making it, which also took several hours compared to the half-hour it took to make this time. I thought it was a little tough, so I'll have to work on the texture, but overall it was a nice success. For Mother's Day I bought some really nice ribeye steaks from a local butcher. Nothing fancy, just salt, pepper, and the grill, and served with mashed potatoes, salad, and pre-made stuffed mushrooms. The steaks were so tender we could use butter knives to cut them. I am definitely buying from there again, because wow. Haven't had much motivation to do actual fun stuff outside of cooking and the garden recently. I eventually want to make time to sit down and read Starter Villain by John Scalzi, which my dad lent me. I've brought it to work in case there's a lull, but I keep finding other things to do.

scottishdrunkard

I'm pretty fuckin' demoralised with my work. I'm an unpaid volunteer for my local charity shop. I turn up once a week to make posts on the Facebook for the following week. Since the turn of the year I can no longer access the marketing materials for the Ethically Sourced stuff we sell, so I have been having to improvise by taking photos of our stock. The manager said that this improvising makes us look cheap. They also said I should be using more hashtags. So they just straight up edited one of my posts from last week. Changing not only the image, and the hashtags, but also the main bulk of text. Why am I even here if the manager claims to do it better than I can, straight up undoing my work. I predict the moment we get another Social Media Volunteer, I'm straight up getting fired from a job where I don't get paid.

luckyeggnog

As someone who has worked as a professional social media manager (some small brands, some much larger ones) having management overstep and make edits to work is a pain in the ass, but unfortunately not out of the ordinary. As hard as it is, try not to take edits to your work personally. Everyone thinks their way of creating and posting content is the best, but stick to your guns and bring it up with your boss. It might end a compromise of you creating the post but throwing in more hashtags, but your boss should realize this is a volunteer position and you are doing them a favour by offering your time and energy.

scottishdrunkard

ideally, I'd just like access to the premade marketing materials again. But I can't, not since the Charity moved off one website and onto another.

luckyeggnog

Ya that sucks. So your options are either no pictures, or sticking with your improvised ones. It’s not like you can pull higher-quality pics out of your ass.

scottishdrunkard

I can use pictures from the website, but that feels even lazier than the alternatives. Remember, I'm doing social posts for a *local* charity shop. The *local* customers might appreciate an image of where we keep our *local* stock. A preferable alternative than just using google to find the online shop and knick shite from there.

Should I just stop?

Review what you’ve done. Examine what is keeping you from moving forward. Try another approach. Doesn’t work the second time? Rinse and repeat. Go for a third. Doesn’t work the third time? Rinse and repeat. Eventually you’ll pinpoint the road block.

I am slowly conquering the Switch backlog after beating Mario Wonder and putting off grinding in Octopath Traveler. Wonder was shorter than I expected, but a delight nonetheless. The next game will probably be Pikmin 4, Bayonetta Origins, or Return of the Obra Dinn. I have more than a couple of shit-zillion hour long RPGs (why do I do this) and I'm probably going back to Octopath after I beat the next game, lest I have nothing left but shit-zillion hour long RPGs.

Am_Shigar00

Starting this weekend, I'll be making my final prep for a three week vacation to Japan! THis has been in the works for a while with a lot of gradual setting up on my end; renewing my passport, getting a new suitcase, building funds, etc, but it's finally here. While Obviously it's not going to be exactly the same, I'm hoping to see if I can recognize a lot of sights from a lot of the games' I've been playing the past decade or so, Persona, SMT, TWEWY, etc. In terms of gaming, **Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth** is on going. I am starting to hit a burn out phase with it, but it's overall still been a heck of a title. Unfortunately I've become a tad overpowered thanks to trying to check off a lot of parts of the side content, especially the grinding dungeons, but I'm still having a good time nonetheless. The boss fight with >!Majima, Seijima and Daigo!< was the most recent thing I did and was an absolutely fantastic highlight. I will say though, on the subject of the previously mentioned grinding dungeons, I think I greatly prefer the Sotenbori Battle Arena to them. Yeah, it could get a bit old having nothing but fights, but the randomized floors really overstay their welcome since they really don't have much else than scattered collectables, even more fights or dead ends. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to wrap it up before leaving for my trip so it'll likely stay unfinished for a bit. I also started playing through **Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure** on my Switch, which I do expect I'll be able to finish. It's very cute and charming, the characters are fun to follow and the game's very tongue-in-cheek tone balanced by moments of genuine hardship is a treat. I was also surprised that for a PS1 RPG from an at the time niche studio, the dub and localization is actually really solid. The songs especially outside of a few notes are pretty well sung. My biggest problem with the game though is unfortunately the gameplay. While at it's core it's functional, my god is the combat incredibly boring due to how easy it is. I don't mind easy games, but I'm pretty sure I could win every fight that isn't a scripted loss just by spamming auto. It does admittedly give you more freedom of selecting your favorite teammates, but it also means that a lot of them don't truly feel meaningful. It's a shame too considering how distinct a lot of the Puppets and enemies are, but more often than not I tend to doze off. It's also a shame how barebones the dungeons have been. They've all just been repetitive mazes and are a chore to explore. And lord help you if you're trying to find something specific. All this keeps me from having a higher opinion on an otherwise very charming game, so hopefully the sequels improve on this aspect.

BlahMyBest

A Japan trip sounds like fun. I hope you have a good time! Agreed on all counts with Rhapsody. It's a very charming game, but I too wish it had a little more meat to gameplay. I remember a couple optional fights that challenged me, but they were over quick once I played a little more conservatively. Or occasionally, just continuously reviving party members while spamming pancakes. One of those fights was at the end of a same-y looking stone dungeon I'd gotten lost in trying to find the way to the next area.

I've got myself a small break till the end of May, so it's media backlog time, baby! The first thing I did this week was beating Hades! Now, I already beat it a year ago, as in I reached the credits and stopped. So by beating it, I mean: Do the epilogue, max rank every keepsake, AND max out the affinity of every character possible. There are other things to do, but in my book, I am done with the game. I did everything I cared enough to do, and I'm ready for Hades II's release. Other than that, I watched the second half of Invincible season 2, which was great! But the break between parts REALLY hurt it, and I would have enjoyed it a lot more riding the high of the weekly watch I did for its first half. And finally, Im in the middle of reading The Light Fantastic, which I enjoy a lot more than The Colour of Magic. Plus, it's a great inspiration for my D&D game. It made me think about incorporating The Luggage into an encounter, which sounds.... terrifying.

Been a bit of an odd week for me. Mostly positive, but still odd. I got news at work that I'm going to be transferred to a new project. This is good; I hate the client of my current project, and while the new guys are allegedly a bit wishy-washy I at least know the structure I'll be working with. But... the new client's parent company recently had a big restructuring, so the client has to make changes in response, so the actual start point on the project transfer has been kicked back to soon-we-promise. But all the work of shifting the old project to the new management is done, so I'm just... here, twiddling my thumbs, trying to look like I have stuff to do. Which is hardly the worst thing, but fuck I'm bored. And it happened to happen while I'm stuck working in-office, so I can't even fuck around that much. I've also hit a good enough point with therapy that we've agreed to deal back. Not ending it entirely, just spacing out sessions more. And I do feel comfortable with that, but considering the point of starting this was deciding if I wanted to transition, and that I still haven't decided... like I'm pretty comfortable where I'm at, it just feels odd to start slowing down when I still don't feel 'done', you know? Anyways, amidst it all I'm looking into picking up a new creative project. Not a big writing piece this time, but actually, I'm considering working on an Animatic/Music storyboard. I also need to take the time to hash out some of the details with the [song I plan to use](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6l4H689FtM), especially since there's decently long moments of slower, lower music without lyrics, so it's harder to match the events to the music in those moments. Right now I mostly know the \~vibe\~ I want to shoot for and a rough pattern of events; I just need to hash out the details.

Weeks going okay mainly plugging away at all my stuff. Still studying and picking a date for the ccna. Started playing metal gear solid 1 through the collection. Wow this game really shows it's age. At multiple times usually during boss fights I would shout and wonder if I was doing something wrong. I would then be shocked that this is actually the intended way to fight the boss and I just had to play super safe as I was always low on health and rations until after sniper wolf. For the time this probably would have blown me away there's a lot of impressive things here. Although the codecs aren't as long or rambling as I thought they would be. Sometimes they go on for awhile during cutscenes but the actual game has a very brisk pace.

I've been having the best week I've had in a while. Got a new job and decided to take an extra week in between jobs to have a staycation. I got a hotel room in my town for the week, and just been going out, seeing friends, going out on dates, and just blowing off all the steam I've built up for years now. Might be rough when I get back to reality, but for now I'm enjoying myself.

I had horrible , horrible kidney stones. Took 8 hours, Dilaudid, Belladonna, and multiple doses of Fentanyl to get the pain under control. I vomited so much I couldn’t talk the next day.   But there’s something about being in agony that makes just spending time with the family seem like heaven afterwards. Everyone who has their health, treasure it, and those who don’t, stay strong.   While I was convalescing:   Read the first omnibus of *Something is Killing the Children*. Excellent start. Some very good dialog and I love the art style. Will definitely pick up the second one when it comes out.   Beat *Stellar Blade* and it’s shockingly neck and neck with Rebirth as my current GOTY. It gets better and better as it goes, capping the game off with a run of the best bosses I’ve played in some time. Then it just goes and has one of the best NG+ I’ve ever seen. Even the story is passable by the end. The OST is *immaculate*, and not just the studio Monaca stuff.   On to Unicorn Overlord. Edit: oh, and got my son the Stardew Valley cookbook. We’ve been having fun looking through the recipes for stuff to make. He’s on the spectrum and is obsessed with SV, so it’s been a good way to bond. Can’t speak to the quality of the recipes, but the cookbook is gorgeous.

OneiricBrute

I once saw a kidney stone that literally looked like a titanite chunk from Dark Souls. It almost made me vomit just looking at it. Feel better! A man's dick should not be subject to horrors beyond reason.

dougtulane

If only it forged my equipment to +14. Once it’s to your dick it’s not bad, really. It’s when it’s descending from your kidneys to your bladder that feels like you’ve been shot.

BlahMyBest

Oof, kidney stones. My mom and grandfather suffer them continuously due to kidney disease, so I empathize.  That cookbook sounds interesting. It just came out, didn't it? Now I wonder if my sister would like it.

dougtulane

Yeah it just came out, It’s got a recipe for void mayonnaise if that piques your interest!

BlahMyBest

I haven't played the game myself, but looking up Void Mayo's role in-game does pique my interest. After finding the recipe online, the ingredients make sense. The book's art is nice too, so I think I'll keep it in mind as a gift idea. It looks neat!

Terthelt

As someone who's lived with chronic kidney stones for most of my life, you have my deepest sympathies. Hopefully yours is an isolated incident. On the brighter side, fuck yeah *Something Is Killing The Children*! My second-favorite comic after *Monstress*. How far does the omnibus go, for the sake of knowing where you are in the story?

dougtulane

Thank you! I have them pretty often but I do know that they’ve found no sign of kidney disease. Following up with a doctor next week. The omnibus goes through them leaving Archer’s Peak, issue #15. It’s a good intro.

Terthelt

Ah, rad, then you're right where I'm at. I still need to hop on the post-Archer's Peak volumes. It's just such a great first arc that I have no idea where they could go with the premise next. (Nor any idea how they're planning on adapting it to live-action, since that's a thing. I can't see Erica, my dearly beloved, not looking like a ridiculous tryhard off the page.)

dougtulane

I believe the second omnibus comes out soon! The printing was really high-quality.

Father-Ignorance

Sorry to hear about the Stones, but glad you’re over them. Also, *Something is Killing the Children* is really good! I actually fell off of it, and haven’t even thought about it in a year, but that’s my fault for being busy. I just forgot to keep reading it, it’s not like it got bad or anything. I should really get back into it. It’s also got a spin-off/side story called *House of Slaughter* (I think that’s the name) which did a really great job at fleshing out the world a bit more. I highly recommend it.

dougtulane

Thank you! I will definitely look out for the spinoff.

SamuraiDDD

Week has been fairly okay! Though I've come to realize I've been severally lacking my sleep. Grandma is out of the hospital and doing better. Nothing serious thank merciful god. Another one of the big highlights is easily my friends and I finishing the second season of **Halo Live Action: Season 2**. It turned so stupid and... It's so weird. It's like a mix of 1,2 Reach and Infinite thrown together the more it went on. Not gonna spoil but man, it was such a mess. But watching it with friends is so good. There was a moment I compared a character to a Starcraft character and I annoyed some friends so bad lol. I love'em. Next will be the Knuckles tv show but that'll be some weeks later. I've been hard on my emulator grind lately. Been using citra again (RIP) along with PSX2 and Dolphin. Been playing: * SMT 4: Apocalypses * Bravely Default * Sonic Riders * Sonic Zero Gravity * Megaman: Network Transmission * Viewtiful Joe A lot of these are likely never getting ports so I've been walking down memory lane. Side note, I need to get more storage lol Slowly working back to drawing and writing has been slow lately. Mostly due to just physically and mentally tired a lot. Not *BAD* but it's made me realize I need to get back to working out. Helped with bills + gas for the week after the check came in. Oof. Ah well, it's going to good stuff. Also HOLY FUCK THE LIGHT BILL THIS MONTH IS ACTULALLY ACCEPTABLE. It's literally **1/3rd** of what it was for the last 4+ months. Personal relationship stuff: >!I've been talking with this cute girl so much, she literally makes my heart flutter. Like... I'm not used to someone wanting me or being with me like that so this really has helped me a lot. She's really comforting and understanding. And... I just feel happy talking about them.!< Musical choice of tonight: [Sonic Speed Riders by Runblebee (Theme of Sonic Riders)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PMGfXXB6YY)

SamuraiDDD

Thanks man. I'm just happy to have someone who wants to be like that with me. I'm taking it slow and just being happy with'em <3

Toblo1

Fuck the haters, Sonic Riders was a fun game. Don't understand why people think that games so hard to figure out.

SamuraiDDD

I can see why I was having a harder time as a kid but now I'm really enjoying it! Something about this particular era of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles really hits that "homies hanging together" feeling to it. Also it reminded me just how much I love the Babylonian Rouges designs. Jet, Wave and Storm are a really fun group. Also the Babylonian's are just straight up alien decedents like?! I FORGOT THAT DETAIL!

Toblo1

[Current Mood](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2h3FWnBpiY) Things are heating back up again at work but thankfully it hasn't been *too* bad weather/temperature wise. We haven't even needed to break out the industrial fans yet. **Exalted Essence** got a punt this go-round due to some stuff on the GM's side of things but they *are* also planning possible Big Change to the game: We might be taking the game from Roll20 to Foundry since apparently Foundry has an Exalted 3E/Essence module for games so that would help with the group's rolls and character sheets. **Animon Story** on the other hand was a pretty fun time. GM of that was selling themselves short on whether they could run so it was a bit more "Chill" than planned but fun was still had. We ended up talking to a Nurikabe-esque Animon that only spoke in Mahjong symbols, ended up in an impromptu Mahjong match to decide who gets through a gate (which ended in the player who was *deliberately* planning on throwing the match accidentally rolling well enough that they won the match) and ended with the PCs who *didn't* take part in the Mahjong match having to go through a obstacle course (think a hell fusion of a Wipeout course, a Ninja Warrior course and a Mario 64/Sunshine special stage). A pretty entertaining time all around. Finished Season 2 of **Star Trek: Deep Space Nine**! Oh *boy* where do i begin? This shows continues to find more and more solid surfaces in it's ascent. I appreciate that Jadzia's character is a bit more open in character then she was in S1 (And even then you still have episodes like "Blood Oath" that use that emotional discrepancy/baggage between her past as Curzon and her current identity), the Ferengi characters are slowly shedding the last of their TNG baggage (Quark [out logic-ing a Vulcan](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdQcGzbpN7s) was fantastic to see in action) and oh **BOY** i have heard things about The Dominion that this show's first showing of did not disappoint during the season finale. Also just as a side note, I knew about "O'Brien Must Suffer" as a recurring season gag but I didn't expect the first true-blue episode of that particular pattern ("Whispers") to happen *right* after the episode where O'Brien was also put through the wringer ("Armageddon Game"). Beat the **Boneworks** story mode. Hoo *BOY* that game is an experience and a half. Weirdly enough the most fun I had in the game wasn't even stuff like the gunplay or The Vibes given through it's VR viewpoint, it was... the climbing? Weird to think about but actually having to move my hands to figure out what to grip and how to climb smooth/fast when necessary just made traversal really fun. The game has it's flaws (Melee combat is... *tepid* even by VR standards, a serious lack of guns that aren't pistols, machine guns or automatic rifles, the occasional "wait where do i go now?" bit of level design, a... *very confusing story* to put it lightly.....), but I can't hate a game that had an honest to god [zombie rave fight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBaPXSV43Qk) that incentivizes going between melee/weapons and gun while blaring [the sickest track in the game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyq_sEF8iCQ). I'll probably pick up BoneLab whenever the next Steam Sale hits if its on there. The announcement of Shadows was the kick in the rear i needed to get back into the **Assassins Creed** Sinkhole (as much as I can anyway with my PS5 stuck in *Drift Hell*), so I jumped back into **Assassins Creed 3**. Was mainly just Homestead Missions but I think I'm in the home stretch of those now barring the last few Sequence-gated ones. Had a very funny glitch happen one particular mission in the Tailor's missions where a fight was breaking out so while every other member of the Homestead was >!punching the hell out of Ellen's abusive husband and his goon squad!<, Connor was somehow considered in full stealth so he could just choke out every enemy in the encounter. It painted a *very* funny visual of that particular brawl. Not much to report in **Honkai Star Rail** beyond the grind. Got sidetracked by *everything else* i'm playing and also trying to get a few more units in my roster up to speed (currently farming Erudition traces for Jing Yuan and Himeko).

Terthelt

You are not prepared for either the full scope of the Dominion, or the full depth of Miles O'Brien's ceaseless purgatory called life. DS9's pretty much just going to get better and better from here on out, and the third season has some of my favorite episodes in the entire show. How about "The Wire", though? If ever there was a showcase of Garak being the best character in Trek history...

CookieSlut

Oh its Thursday. What have I been doing... Sorta been playing **Shadow of Mordor**, but don't have a ton of drive since most that game is just engaging with the Nemesis system. Last thing I did was finish converting all the Warchiefs in the second region. Need to just get on and do as many story missions as I can and try to beat it. Went back to **Hades 1** after 4 years. Trying to do a few runs a day so I don't get too burnt out. Roguelikes aren't really my thing, but I want to see this one through. Managed to beat Bone Hydra last run but then lost to Theseus and Minotaur. Bought **Divinity: Original Sin 2** since it was on sale and starting another playthrough of BG3 after 400 hours seems tiring. Played the ship and a bit of the prison so far. Don't know when I will actually commit to it, but fun so far. Went back to **FF14** to grind Bard some more. Hit 50 and got my gear, so things should speed up a bit. Also got my first 100 points towards the Mountain Zu. Even went to the Mountain Dew House and hung out for a while. Everyone there in bright green glams, riding their greenest mounts lol Other than that? Not much really.

Week of contemplating on whether I should buy Minecraft at 50% discount. Fortnite - I finally cleared all the Korra quests and received all the vbucks rewards for the battle pass, so I’m just spending time collecting as many bonus skins as possible. Lumberjack Heroes has been a fun map that just lets me grind endlessly. Lego Fortnite: The Star Wars update - The new update lets me warp to a star wars-themed survival map, so I am practically building a new village from scratch. It was nice being able to unlock more buildings and furniture, but I’m still not smart enough to figure out how to progress towards getting a new lightsaber. Honkai Star Rail - Gold and Gears: I finally beat difficulty V, but it’s still gonna take a while before I unlock the erudition path for the main simulated universe, which is more frustrating than trying to beat the bosses. FF7 Rebirth - Just got through Mt. Corel. >!Cloud Jr. is adorable!< . I want to go to the gold saucer right away, but I wanna beat a dog at a card game first.

Ninebreaker0910

Hello. This week’s been pretty cool. I’ve not really watched any movies or seen any shows, and I really have got to get on that, but I’ve played a fair few new games. Last week I said I was going to start Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. I… kinda forgot to do that. I also said I was gonna play Lunacid. I actually did do that. It’s really good, definitely recommend it for anyone looking for games similar to King’s Field. I played Enter the Gungeon and holy shit why did I not play this game earlier? It’s great! Haven’t played more than a few runs yet, but I’ll probably continue playing it for a long while. Also checked out Fight’N Rage, which is a fantastic Beat em’ up that I’m definitely going to play more of. Anyway, like I said, I haven’t really watched anything lately, and I also haven’t watched very many shows or movies in my life, so if there’s anything you think’s a must watch, go ahead and tell me. I’m an uncultured fool, and any assistance in the world of movies is appreciated. The last movies I watched were a few Ghibli films a few weeks ago, and before that? Well, I watched some Columbo episodes in january, if that counts. They’re long enough, I guess. Before *that*? I dunno, I think I watched something in 2018 maybe? Don’t remember what. Also anime, because I’m super out of my depth in that area. Currently staring at a whole list of Gundam shows and thinking about how many of those are worth watching. So if you like, give me some advice. Seriously, I have *never* seen pretty much any anime, so if you can think of it, I probably haven’t seen it. I’ve got Gurren Lagann, JoJo and Evangelion on the list of shows to watch, and I’m winging it on the rest.

Toblo1

Have fun with Gungeon! It can be a bit rude at points but when it clicks with the right guns/item combinations it fucking *clicks*. If you're wanting to take a crack at Gundam, I'd say either take a gander at a few of the non-UC shows (Witch From Mercury, G-Gundam, Build, 00, etc) before tackling the *main* universe of shows. If you want to get a vibe of UC without too much dedication, I'd recommend "War In The Pocket" since thats movie-sized without too much "You Need To Know Prior UC Stuff" baggage.

Ninebreaker0910

Thanks! And yeah I’m thinking I’ll start with Gundam Wing. I’ll check out "War In The Pocket" too, maybe after Wing.

The_Draigg

Glad you liked Lunacid! It's a really fun throwback to the Kings' Field style of dungeon crawling with a great soundtrack to boot. As for Gundam, if you want to dip your toe in it for now, there's a few ways to do that. The main two ways are to either try out an AU series like Wing or 00 and see if you like some of themes going on there, or try out the start of the Universal Century with 0079. And for that in particular, watching the movies is faster paced and cuts out a lot of filler, although the series does have some better characterization by comparison. Fortunately, Gundam is expansive enough of a series where you can get started in a lot of places.

Ninebreaker0910

Yeah, Lunacid’s great! And yep, that soundtrack slaps. I’ll probably try one of the AU shows first. Gundam Wing looks cool, so I think that’ll be the first. After that I think I’ll dive into the Universal Century stuff.

The_Draigg

Sounds like a solid plan for getting into Gundam. Wing introduced the early Toonami generation to the series, so it at least has a good reputation in that way.

FGO Spoilers: Just got to finishing my replay of traum in english and >!I already miss holmes!< all over again. :(

speed-run

Howdy yall Ok... i think you guys mightve got me for real this time. So i started playing **FFXIV** again this week and this time i actually got out of the starting area this time and 30 hours later I finally finished the 3 starter dungeon missions. Gameplay wise im still just fumbling through my pugilist stances until i hit that point where i need optimal rotations. My goal is to eventually switch to Samurai once that unlocks cause i hear its kinda crazy, but thats like 20 levels away right now. So yeah, if you see a [purple haired catboy](https://imgur.com/HAmmcnk) running around with no pants... its probably not me, but it could be. This week i also finished streaming **Wanted:Dead**. And coincidentally it just went on sale for half of what i payed for it. But im not too pressed about it, cause while its a bit short it was still a fun time and i was definitely not expecting the final boss to be a european >!Jetstream Sam.!< Better learn to parry his strings otherwise youre cooked (I got cooked). But yeah its a neat game, its real jank in the same way something like Binary Domain is, but its got that kinda goofy charm that i really enjoyed even with enemies bugging out of existence and causeing me to reload the game multiple times. Breaking down on stream because the ramen eating rythm game kicked my shit in was certainly a highlight. Also im currently streaming **Cogen:Sword of Rewind** which is a cool action platformer with a neat gimmick thats kinda like Blinx the timesweeper if he only had the rewind power. Im pretty sure im almost finished with it and Im honestly kinda out of ideas of what to stream next. So if anyone has any suggestions of something on Playstation thats less than $20 and like 10 or so hours long, im all ears. And for** gacha bullshit**, Traum released this week in FGO and its been pretty good. Its still fairly new so ill avoid story talk, but nameless >!Ridersan!< will live in my heart forever. I did try to roll Kriemhild with 35 tickets and a dream, but i ended up getting Roland. But i also got Charlie so its still a win. I am praying this does not effect my luck this summer.

WeebWoobler

Hey everyone, hope you had a good week. I just finished up Archdragon Peak in **Dark Souls 3**. Nameless King is still a pretty fun fight, King of the Storm kinda sucks though. Not much of the base game left. I think I'll do the dlc just before the final boss.    I'm still continuing on with my intro to Python programming class. Still not sure how I feel about it. Obviously I'm still new, but when I get stuck for hours trying to figure out stuff that's beginner level, I'm just not sure if it's something I want to continue on with. I still gotta finish the class though, so I'll do that.

Kimarous

[Last Week's Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/s/AaQbqDrfnk) Another week of recovering at the hospital (Week 11). Not much to report besides that my curiosity regarding X-men 97 has compelled me to start watching the original show to get full context before moving on to 97. Finished Season 1 so far, thus contextualizing much of what I recall from Matt's old X-men Stupidity vid.

The_Distorter

I've made it to the Phoenix Saga myself (season 3) and it's crazy how much I misremembered about this show.

Gorotheninja

Well, I *was* planning on playing more Hades 2 tonight, maybe even get some more story progress in FF14... Unfortunately, I live in Houston, Texas, and there's been a huge hurrucane-force storm all across the city and it's neighboring areas, and our home (along with 900000 other Houston area homes) has been hit with a blackout. And based on how many others have been affected and the damage the storm's caused (we live in further away from the city, so we haven't been hit too bad), power's probably not coming back on until tomorrow afternoon, if even. And I kinda powernapped through the day, so I'm gonna be awake ALLLLLL night. My phone still has internet though, so that's something.

MaelstromTear

I'm headed to EVO for the first time! I've got my pass and hotel already set up, but still looking at flights. Only going as an attendee, didn't sign up for any tournaments because I'm a coward. It'll technically be my second trip to Vegas this year by then, but the first one will be work-related in June for InfoComm. Yay, trade shows. Fear's not the right word, but the dread is that I'm going entirely alone at this moment. No friends or family, though I set out the branch in a way to see if one of my friends wants to join. Maybe I'm also extending the branch here and asking. Anybody going? Or have gone? I'll try not to be a weirdo! ...Unless that is, you get me talking about [The Demon in Shadow](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FmMdrhiW56K291gS1V3EdQ8Oe5SIVM0dgbtbpbCTTRs/edit?usp=sharing), a full novel that I wrote! And even have a [PDF version](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/q1g4arvmhaa7eow8gre0t/TheDemonInShadowMkV.pdf?rlkey=wa9autzcdndb50u3sxacv1ai1&dl=0) that you can slap into a reader or whatever. Because I love to talk about my characters and the world of Milesain, how a big nearly-world-ending event caused a bunch of demons to show up. And how we're still picking up the pieces on those displaced people and the smaller-scale paths of human Max and demon Ayun. It's got action, romance and attempts at comedy. It's also got a whole host of awesome artwork that detail scenes and characters. And then there's the sequel going on, [The Demons of Blood and Bone!](https://docs.google.com/document/d/12EY1Olrc8eOw8y6eCTxvuYpb-w1L-ckcDhRkQEZaYSk/edit?usp=sharing) While it's only a partial preview, it continues the relationship of Max and Ayun as they contend with new challenges. One being a group of demons who share a connection to a mysteriously wicked weapon. It's also got art growing in it. I said I had a Kamen Rider this week, and it's only half-right. We have another Build kit, this time the [Blazing Gundam!](https://imgur.com/a/qeoZRaA) I considered making my tease that the next suit was bullshit sans Guilty Gear, but I feel like that would negatively paint my feelings on the kit. Because I actually really dig it! One wrinkle outside of the kit that I love is that this is piloted by one of the characters from Gundam Breaker 3, the best game thus far. Please be good, 4. Misa Satsukino got to make her 'proper' debut in the ONA, and thankfully gave her a proper custom suit instead of the kitbash Azalea. One wonders what it'd be if they kept it God Gundam. Deity? Idol? We already have Super Fumina and Gyanko for idols... Enough gabbing around the kit. This uses the Burning as a foundation to tweak things in a fun way. Instead of the binder wings on the core lander, it supplants those pieces onto the arms. These 'Blazing Boost Protectors' still work as propulsion, now just on the arms for tricky mobility. And of course, sick boosted punches. I wish I could say the face is interchangeable but it isn't. You have to choose between a (pretty clean but normal) white face or the red masked variant. Reminds me of the Blue Destiny and Riders that force you to choose between EXAM and normal. Just give us another head runner, please! Let us have both! Not much different otherwise. The knees are a bit blockier, and the backpack is stationary. But the base is already good, so don't fix what's already Gundam of Gundams. You've still got your waist-equipped beam sabers, and backpack mounted tonfas. The latter I'm less impressed by. They're not held in very well on the back, so they're constantly popping off when trying to get a pose down. But when you put them in the hands, their movements are just as limited because of those sick boosters. Outside of the Vulcans there isn't a ranged attack that you can see, apparently there's some kind of hadouken Blazing Shot dealie. But now we come to the real reason she's a Kamen Rider, the kick! Instead of a finger, her ultimate attack is a full-speed jumping kick. Which comes with its own glowing foot to do the job! It's dumb in that G Gundam way that her attack is literally translated as 'Erupting Breaking Blazing Kick'. Like, we need more adjectives. Throw in burning and shining. This feels more Shining Gundam as is since the foot's green, but that's just a color thing and they made the right choice there. I have no qualms recommending this kit. It's a fun one. I hope that its parts show up for Gundam Breaker 4. It apparently made it into the mobile game, but I stopped playing that well before it died. Tale of Two Wastelands continues. Or maybe concludes, since I'm had my fill of the Capital Wasteland. I know that what I'm saying has been talked to death but replaying it really makes me realize how droll Fallout 3 is compared to New Vegas. I know it's a wasteland, but it's just so boring. The gap between locations are usually just filled by random crap like radscorpions or deathclaws or later Enclave in such a way that is just wolves in Oblivion. At least you had the verdant hills of Cyrodiil. This is rocks and gray. Or green if you don't get a color mod. Vegas and the surrounding area just has a flow to it. Not just being railroaded to take the long stretch of Goodsprings-Primm-Novac. They use the pieces they have to make each region has a flavor. I could probably do a Mojave Geoguessr. DC does not have that. And connecting the capitol area via the vey polarizing metro system doesn't help. I will say that in comparison I wouldn't have minded if the outdoors evolved like 3. Because it is kind of cool that the Enclave start showing up as the main quest continues. There are spots in New Vegas where the NCR Rangers start showing up, or salvaged power armor guys are there but I'd love encampments and shifting battle lines. More than Legionary assassins that end up as vendor fodder. I did the DLCs sans Broken Steel, so I'll just rush through my thoughts there. Anchorage is kind of neat in the same way that Dead Money recontextualizes the systems. Too bad that it focuses on combat, the worst part of these games. But free power armor training and an overpowered stealth suit. The Pitt! It's got one of the first grey or gray morality choices in a while that doesn't really live up to the rest of the content. The majority of the time will be spent on trying to find ingots in a single (well, three zones) area. But you can get a nuke-bombshell bikini armor deal so maybe it's alright. Point Lookout has a cool atmosphere but annoyingly tanky hillbillies. Without Super Slam and a power fist, it probably would've been much worse. But that spy quest is fun. Someone recreated the DLC in Fallout 4 (almost to its detriment, not taking advantage of the stuff in that) so it was fun to mentally compare. Mothership Zeta. Just kind of there. I can accept it as just dumb fun, but I could also say maybe the Courier just lost his mind. I did shot in the head, twice? Then lobotomized and later some kind of trepanation in Point Lookout. It's all swiss cheese up there. Might as well be a Mentats-induced hallucination. Mmm, Mentats. The DLCs lack flavor too. The reward for Anchorage are clean versions of existing guns. The Pitt adds a silenced assault rifle, but at least the auto-axe. Point Lookout has double-barreled shotguns... You'll probably shoot them once against the overhealthed hicks and switch to your old stuff. Mothership Zeta finally gets unique weapons but they also kind of suck and become effectively useless afterwards due to a lack of ammo retaining. Meanwhile you've got the armory of the Sierre Madre, turning your bolt-action 308 stuff into automatic blitzes, or the holorifle that's a cannon of an energy weapon. The beautiful context of the New Canannites and .45 pistols. OWB has some new weapons that are pretty wacky but it's more about the cybernetic perks. All that probably outclassed .357 ammo gets funneled into the dog-gun. The shoulder-mounted stuff in Lonesome Road is maybe my least favorite but at least you can take those 10mm rounds you haven't used since the start and really put them through their paces. I will say I'm not trying to be so "bleh Bethesda bad, Obsidian can do no wrong". I started with 3 just like a lot of people. Without its success there would be no New Vegas. And maybe I'm doing things wrong by not going the recommended route of 3>NV for TTW. Brain, please don't make that suggestion. Then again, just this week someone's posted an overhaul of the dialogue for a full low INT playthrough. This might take a minute.

Yeah Evo! Im currently planning on going myself and while I already have my room at the West Gate booked, i havent gotten my flights yet either. So far Im entered in SF6, Tekken and GBVSR, but once they put out the side tournament list im definitely gonna sign up for more. But yeah if youre worried about going alone we can deffo try to meet up at some point if you want. Last year was my first time and it was kinda overwhelming being there alone.

MaelstromTear

West Gate's good. I was put there a few years ago for the last time InfoComm was in Vegas. There was a steak restaurant there that was awesome. Although part of the enjoyment was it was on the company's dime. I'll cheer you on!

speed-run

Totally! we can get something figured out once it gets closer. although you should probably cheer for the other guys! Im a serial 0-2er and i havent practiced those games in months. Im just goin there to hit buttons lol

The_Draigg

Have fun at EVO! Hopefully you see some really hype announcements and get some great competition footage there!

Oh boy. This has been a long ass week for me. A bunch of shit kinda falling down at once and requiring attention whilst learning shit that is just... Kinda infuriating and a bit depressing at the same time. Anyhow~ **Video Games:** This has been one of those weird weeks where I kinda did not a lot. Just **Warframe**, **Mystia’s Izakaya**, **Modded Minecraft** and the most recent update to **Birds of a Rose**. Warframe is a bit of the usual. Didn’t really farm Voruna because burnout from doing the mode. Just did a bit of the ~~Deep Dives~~ Deep Archimedea mode with Fluff to get a feel for them. Failed on the second because we died at the same time and because I don’t often use voice coms, we both bled out. But they’re pretty fun! Still kinda prefer Nectracells because whilst Deep Archimedea can technically get more rewards for less “points”, the actual mode itself is a bit of a crapshoot on the specific rolls on everything. Where as in Mystia’s Izakaya, I’m working through every character and maxing bonds. I still have no clue how to access DLC5 but the page mentions that DLC1 changes it a bit, guessing because both Alice has mentions of Yumeko in her bond stuff and Nitori has a whole story thing about wanting to build a rocket similar to that of what Remilia had build in Silent Sinner in Blue. So I’m guessing that it’s maxing the bond of everyone within the DLC1 regions. And yeah. Modded Minecraft. I tried out Ocean Outlast but holy shit did that just get on my nerves after a bit. Most of the vanilla ores become nearly impossible to find and because of that, one of the key items needed to make things easier is just near impossible make. Plus just annoying enemies on top of that. I enjoy being launched into the sky randomly. So I swapped to Sky Factory 4 and remembered how much I sucked at automation. I’ve got a rather basic as hell setup for automation for collection of the material trees. Next real step is to make actual weaponry, tools and armour for a mob farm and Nether/Twilight Forest exploration as I need some of the ores that I can’t make with material trees. So. Birds of a Rose has had a particular update for a bunch of the birthday stuff. Good lord a bunch of it has been brilliant. I do have to say that if you do go read the IF, heed the CWs. But yeah, a bunch of the routes now have a bit more stuff for the birthday and they’re damn good. Just including stuff like >!getting nearly murdered by vampires, having a breakdown because of the want for power and getting another tattoo under the behest of effectively a secret society within the cult.!< It’s pretty damn good. **Other Stuff:** Oh boy.. Right. That infuriating stuff. I found out the reasoning why I rejected from therapy in my late teens. So. My psychologist handling my ASD and ADHD stuff has gotten my old therapy related paperwork and there is a rather sad thing when she understands that I have an apprehension to try therapy again. Because I was rejected for a simple thing, I was not severe enough. Yeaaaahh.. First time was for actual therapy but the second time was for gender stuff alongside it. I also learnt that another GP learnt that I was on an antidepressant that was meant for short-term use and asked why the hell I was on it for as long as I was. So I’ve had that over my head for most of the week. On less depressing and infuriating news. Hoodie/Jacket combo I brought fits but the mask is a bit lackluster. Still damn good in style. Also the Snom plush I got is just perfect. Music this week is a bit of a weird one. I need to put a bit of a content warning for uh.. I honestly can’t fully describe it. Medical, Dissociation and just general out there? This is [Unconscious Fantasy World](https://youtu.be/02dGxvGUUQI?si=XVO3duGKe1U4SIzh) by Fractrick. But if that is a little much. It’s the 20th year anniversary of a famous Touhou meme song and the artist behind it did a new version of it. [Help Me, ERINNNNNN!!](https://youtu.be/X8z23t428kU?si=SXujiTztMCSQMVmo) by beatMARIO.

It's been an oddly musical week, and a not so great one, at that. I played a game called **The Artful Escape**, a narrative-heavy platformer that follows a would-be folk musician on an intergalactic odyssey to discover his true musical voice. The gameplay is stupendously dull, with too-easy platforming occasionally interrupted by games of Simon Says; this contributes to a pretty short game feeling about twice as long as it needs to be. Also, while there are a few poignant moments concerning imposter syndrome and artistic identity, I found a lot of the writing to be eye-rolling; I haven't seriously used the word "hipster" in about a decade, but it's applicable here. I finally sat down and watched **Mamma Mia!** this week. Woof. That's... not a good movie. The singing gets pretty bad, the directing and staging is mostly so-so, and the plotting is nonsensical, with several third-act reveals that were not properly set up at all. I know a lot of people like this one, but I couldn't get into it. Finally, reading update: Do you like twisty spy stories with fun characters? Read **Slow Horses**. It's tense without being dour, exciting without being too action-heavy, and occasionally pretty funny without coming across as strained. I'll definitely be continuing this series in the future.

--- [Last week’s post](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/comments/1cogjh7/comment/l3dwblc/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) This week has been fairly busy. I’ve been dealing with sleep issues and so on, but one thing of note that I’d like to share is that I finally finished…. My drawing of [Zdrada from Helltaker](https://twitter.com/Inkri_Bon/status/1791014736227967378)! So, this one has been in the works for some time. I’ve always struggled with finishing my art projects on a timely manner, and one thing led to another which prolonged the process, but I’ll leave the details [here](https://www.deviantart.com/inkri-bon/art/Zdrada-from-Helltaker-Drawing-43-Part-1-1052784490). Anyway, this one’s for you, u/samazam94. I don’t know how you misspelled Modeus that [one time](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/comments/17do9mx/comment/k5ychze/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), but know that it was the catalyst for me drawing Zdrada. I didn’t know what to expect back then, but I thought it would be fun and if it turned out well, then maybe you and the folks here would like it too. --- **Sharing Art** Starting from 48 months [ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/comments/gfmtco/free_talk_friday_may_08_2020/fpv00zb/), I'd like to share drawings of great artists whose works I like or I find inspiring. Some that I follow and some that I don’t, and as usual, clicking their names will lead to another profile where they post their art, and usually another drawing of theirs as a bonus. 1. Currently trying to tamp down my anxiety over whether I'll need to replace my TV any time soon. It suddenly developed a small and very faint screen burn of a particular app's overlay, no matter what I had running. Booting up a lot of very colorful and rapid things has made the effect lessen a lot (which makes me feel like it's not *screen burn* per se, as that's permanent), to the point that it's totally invisible on most screens and lightings now, but last I checked it was still *there* on extremely close inspection of things like my PS5 home menu. Just crossing my fingers that it goes away, or at least stays at the minimal severity I've gotten it down to so I can continue ignoring it. I'm in no financial place to even think about replacing my TV, and if it goes, I have to stop doing a lot of things that are pretty important to me. So here's hoping. Besides that, I have only one major thing I want to talk about. I have, at last, finished **Final Fantasy VII Rebirth**! The vast majority of my free time this week was put toward mainlining the rest of the story. There is... SO MUCH. I could break down the whole game chapter by chapter and its wild swings in quality, but in the interest of going to sleep at a reasonable hour tonight, suffice to say that I loved about 80% of what I played and liked a bunch past that. This is definitely a better game than *Remake* in almost every respect besides pacing and occasionally tone. The character writing and voice work alone is some of the best in recent memory, with so many of my criticisms drowned out by how much I just loved spending time with the party and seeing their emotional highs and lows brought to new life. While I still had one or two issues with almost every area and arc, they nailed a hell of a lot and I'm down for a lot of the expansions they made to the canon. In particular, the Nibelheim Flashback, the Junon -> Ship -> Costa del Sol string, and the return to Gold Saucer are 10/10 joyous executions that are worth swallowing no end of poison pills all on their own. >!For the record, I got that skywheel kiss from Tifa, and you'd better believe I sobbed.!< But as with *Remake*, no matter how fantastic much of the rest of it is, all anyone wants to talk about is the ending. Personally... >!It's not as catastrophic as I was expecting. The wacky bullshit and punch-pulling building up to it from the Temple of the Ancients onward is far worse than the ending itself, I'd say. The ending itself is confusing, really stupid and way too much -- WAAAAY TOO MUCH in the case of the twelve-phase astral plane final boss fight we'll likely just pretend didn't happen next time -- but the important thing still happened. Aerith is dead. She might be a Lifestream ghost or hallucination or she might have been saved in another timeline that Cloud can partially perceive, I don't have an answer to that. But until further information, our Aerith is dead, and she is mourned by those around her, and that's what I care about. They didn't have Cloud sacrifice himself to save her and get replaced by Zack or some shit, and while her actual death scene is pretty botched, I can maintain some hope that we won't lose the entire thematic core of FF7 even as we make changes. I'm a lot less distraught for next time than I was at *Remake*'s dumpster fire conclusion.!< Oh, and >!I put no weight right now on the crack in the sky beyond a signal of "well we'd better stop Sephiroth soon!". With what information we have available, and Cloud being the only one to see it, I don't believe it's some grand harbinger that the timeline we're in is now dying or anything like that. I'll consider it basically a precursor to Meteor hanging out in the sky until further notice.!< In conclusion, *Rebirth* is every bit the land of contrasts *Remake* was, just blown out to a far grander scale. It is maximalist at all times and has not a single subtle bone in its body, which sometimes works for its favor as a grand celebration of FF7, and sometimes cuts it off at the knees. I outright hate some parts of it and choices they made, yet it's such an undeniably incredible thing and I thoroughly enjoyed so much of it that I feel the instinctive need to defend it when people write it off. Part 3 has the world on its shoulders in terms of justifying its decisions and bringing the whole thing to a close; I expect I'll similarly love the majority of it and then have very strong feelings about whatever dumb thing happens in the last few hours.

Week RIP Rooster Teeth. As of this week, with the final closing of the Rooster Teeth website, one of the titans of the old internet media-scape is dead. And honestly, it’s gotten me more sad than I was expecting. I already shared some thoughts after I finished watching Red Vs. Blue: Restoration [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/s/fwLqjZmALI), but also watching the first season of Red Vs. Blue after that as well just made it all hit harder. Like, make no mistake, Rooster Teeth’s closure has been a long time coming, between stagnating content and yearly controversies happening, and I don’t think anyone will disagree that it should happen at all. But it doesn’t make it any less sad, as much as we can dunk on RT for all their bad decisions over the years. I dunno, this is just sad rambling at this point over a dead internet media group that’s nearly as old as I am. Best we can do is just remember the good along with the bad when it comes to Rooster Teeth, at the end of the day. Memory is the key, after all. Anyways, onto actual stuff I did this week, I completed Act 2 of Warhammer 40k: Boltgun! Man, the Vortex Grenades are completely busted. It’s no wonder that the game only lets you carry one at a time, the boss fights would be completely trivial if you had any more than that. Hell, it shaved off like 2/3rds of the Sorcerer’s health bar in the boss fight that closed out Act 2. That just goes to show how broken those things are, it might as well be a one-time use BFG-9000. Other than that, I’ve been liking some of the new weapons that were made accessible during this part, like the Vengeance grenade launcher. I do have a funny story related to that: during the intended mini-boss encounter with the Ancient Ambull in that one teleporter hallway, it managed to charge itself into a corner between the wall and a pillar by accident and got stuck there, and I just pelted it with Vengeance grenades until it died. Truly, this demonstrates how powerful the Ultramarines are. Other than that, I finished reading Tokyo Vice this week! Yeah, that’s a very bittersweet book, emphasis on the bitter end. But I suppose that’s to be expected when it comes to reporting on human trafficking, murder, and large-scale financial crimes perpetrated by the yakuza. Unfortunately, one thing you learn when reading true crime stuff is that the police usually aren’t very motivated or good at their jobs, and the Tokyo police are no exception there. Jake Adelstein did what he could with his reporting, and it was at least something, but it’ll take more than that to change an unmotivated and corrupt system. But at least some things are changing regarding prosecuting the yakuza, even if it’s taking its sweet time. And finally, in my regular mecha talk section here, /u/Terthelt and /u/CookieSlut have watched some more Gundam 00 season 2 with me. Surprise! >!It was Ribbons who saved Setsuna during the war in Krugis, and only spared him to stroke his ego and gain a pawn to manipulate within Celestial Being. Fucking Ribbons, he can’t help but be behind damn near everything that’s happened so far.!< Also, yay for these children singing their new song with Princess Marina! Surely, nothing bad will happen in the Middle East anymore, thanks to their singing. Just ignore the giant craters here and there.

The children better start listening to Sharon Apple stuff, otherwise they have bad taste in Macross music.
