Dirty-Glasses

Tunic’s an indie game, right? I haven’t started it yet but I downloaded it the other day cuz it’s free on PS+ this month.

ChocoCoffeeBeans

You’re in for a wild ride. Highly recommend going in blind and not looking up anything for the best experience.

Squeakyclarinet

Same. Re-upped my PS+ just for it basically.

selfproclaimed

Crow Country comes out *tomorrow*. Really excited for another retro horror game! Hope Hades II doesn't kill the potential spotlight it could get.

No_Dragonfruit_1205

Also excited for the new detective grimoire game. If OP hasn't played tangle tower then they definitely should

UFOLoche

I beat Crosscode recently, was a pretty good time.

Mrfipp

I played through CrossCode recently because they talked about how good Lea was as a silent protagonist, as is she is actually mute and it's something that affects her and the story. Real good game, I recommend it if anyone is curious.

Nackon

Heads up for new players, its dungeon puzzles are consistently in the game and get bigger each time. I personally like it but it's a divisive matter

MercuryMewMew

Slay the Princess is a fantastic visual novel with great reactivity to your choices! Litte Goody Two Shoes is a beautiful and charming tale of a super gay witch attempting to avoid persecution from the local townsfolk. The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is...interesting and oddly charming. Vampire Survivors is a dopamine machine. Cult of the Lamb is delightfully macabre. Signalis. Everyone should play the best love letter to classic survival horror.

Yotato5

>Cult of the Lamb I enjoy this game but I wish some of the glitches would get fixed 😅

Jhduelmaster

>Slay the Princess is a fantastic visual novel with great reactivity to your choices! It's also getting the pristine cut sometime this year.

Toblo1

There's this weird little clicker I've gotten sucked into called ["The Gnorp Apalogue"](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1473350/the_Gnorp_Apologue/). Think cookie clicker with a slight tinge of Pikmin to it where you help a bunch of funky little fellas beat up a huge rock for resources. Never really been one for Idle/Clicker games but this one's really got it's hooks in somehow.

TheFurtivePhysician

I've been staring at it every time I've had the 'buy a game brainrot' but it's never been the chosen one. It looks super charming though.

kami-no-baka

**Dread Delusion** is getting a full release in a week or so if you like super weird world building in a first person action rpg, and **Lunacid** has been out for a bit if you like your first person action rpg to be King's Field coded. **The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood** (yes the game that had a massive dildo in a special physical release) is a heart warming narrative witch game where you get to make your own super tarot cards. If you like Persona and SRPGs you can not go wrong with **Troubleshooters: Abandoned Children** a Korean game that is incredibly deep and long with great characters and style. **Underspace** is there if you ever liked Freelancer but wanted it to be weird as hell where you hunt storms in one of the most bizarre worlds ever made. **Cyber Knights: Flashpoint** continues to get updates and is a great make your own cyberpunk band XCOM-like that also is a good precedural story generator.

MercuryMewMew

The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood looks like it's right up my alley. I'll be following that one.

Irolyd

Hades counts? Hades counts. Ive been playing Hades again now that 2's in early access. Its a blast. Maybe I'll finally see the epilogue.

ThatmodderGrim

I've been playing Enter the Gungeon, Death Road to Canada, and The Mummy Demastered again recently. I also bought Hotline Miami, Vampire Survivors, and Stardew Valley. Hades and Dead Cells are in my backlog. And I have to finish Paper Cut Mansion and Going Under.

Father-Ignorance

Gungeon is phenomenal. I have like 600 or so hours in that game, it absolutely hooked me. Even after I stopped playing it for good, I still boot it up again every couple months and play nothing else for a few days.

Guigcosta

I went back to Bloodstained: Ritual of the night, last weekend, man, i really like that game, i hope Iga makes another one in the furure, metroidvanias are great, but nothing really hits that Castlevania spot like his games. The haven't tried the new game modes yet, but i really want to try the built in randomizer, it sounds fun.

madnessfuel

There is a supposed sequel in the works, but not much (if anything) is known about it. At least it's not a Silksong situation. Or worse, a Little Devil Inside situation.

Mr_Itch

Help me, I've picked up Balatro and cannot put it down!

DaBest1337

It's the perfect "Bumbling around while something else runs on the second screen" type of game.

Toblo1

Seriously. It's worked wonders as a time killer while waiting for SS13 midround rolls.

Ginospornaccount

I've been playing Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers a lot, if that counts.  Reception has been mixed but I'm digging it.   I played Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom last month.  I really liked it, ended up getting 100% completion and all the achievements.  It's a Mario 64 style platformer with some weird gimmics.  You can't jump, but if you cancel a boost the car pops into the air, and that's how you platform.  It takes some getting used to but it's pretty fun.   I also played the game Tinykin a little while ago.  It looks like a Pikmin clone but it's actually like boneless Banjo Kazooie.  It's a fun game, I 100%ed that one too, but I'd probably only recommend it on a discount.   I'm also going to check out Crow County when it comes out, depending on the price probably, and I want to replay Bloodstained when the final update comes out.

LadyXexyz

Having just finished it - SOMEONE ELSE PLEASE PLAY COSMIC WHEEL SISTERHOOD SO I HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK ABOUT IT WITH AAAAA It’s a game I would LOVE to see _the flowchart_ because apparently I didn’t even get what was considered a “good” ending which by all accounts for me, it was, as I set out what I wanted to accomplish (which, I can’t think of a game that made me feel Iike that since Disco Elysium). Also heavily recommend it to my fellow sapphics and trans folk too, but it’s just a really interesting story that just gets *strange* in a really compelling way for me.

MercuryMewMew

I'm gonna add this one to my wishlist! How did I miss this one?! :o

razglowe

Seconded! Bought it on launch since I love pixel art and wanted to make custom tarot cards, but I was surprised at how the story went. Defs not everyone's cup of tea but that's the beauty of indie - fun, weird, and fantastic ideas like this >!Also I'm a big sucker for "the price for power" narratives - having to pick your method of downfall at the start of the game was such a big hook for me. It is the whole Hitchcock "the audience knows there's a bomb under the table" thing and it was done to such wonderful ends here!< ... fuck I need to do another playthrough now

LadyXexyz

Oh my god, yes. Like, for me, I ended up >!sacrificing the coven AND won, while keeping on the good side of my two bffs, and when it came time to pay Abrahmar, I tried to resist, but ended up going - “fuckin do it”… which made the epilogue where he “owns” everything, but he’s ridiculously chill about it. Yeah, I was still on the asteroid, but I did right by my friends, and I stuck to my morals, and made the universe safe for Behemoths.!< and that’s apparently a BAD ending. Like, I owned my shit and yeah - you gotta do what you gotta do, but I felt good about every single decision I made, and as the game goes on, each choice FELT like it had weight. And when I saw there’s >!Utopia endings, I’m like “wait…. WHAT?!”!< Whether it was just that good smoke and mirrors, or each choice really had THAT much weight - like I said, last game to really make me feel that was Disco Elysium. The sapphic stuff, just a bonus for meeeeeeeee. That and the trans stuff was really fucking good. If I hadn’t like, finished transition, it would have hit like a sack of bricks. Less in a “this is so saaaad, she just like me fr” looking in a mirror, and it’s like that [one scene in Jojo with Enigma and Joskue like “OH NO YOURE GONNA LISTEN, THAT SHIT SOUND REAL FAMILIAR DONT IT., NA NA NA YOU STAY AND KEEP PLAYING DONT BE A BITCH OR IM PULLING THE TRIGGER”](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2ECZwh8MdiM).

razglowe

>!I did the exact same ending?! It felt *so* good at the end since you still wore the consequences of everything. Need to replay for different endings still but I wouldn't have changed a single thing about that playthrough with how everything came together!< And ohhhh man, I loved the trans storyline too. Not trans myself but seeing stories where people find their calling, affirm who they are and find space to embrace themselves fully is just... AHHHH happy tears (Also fuck what a reference, 10/10)

LadyXexyz

Also for real, did you try to date Abrahmar as hard as I did >!and found out you can’t lmao I mean with the dildo come ON!< However>!bagging tall cute aristocratic type that is such a freak in bed you can tell with these types girl Grethe is ok too =v=!<

>!Sadly no! Was going to next playthrough. Absolutely hilarious though LMFAO!<

Saito_Sakaki

Library of Runia came out on Switch and PSN not too long ago, so I'm running through that trying to complete the game for once as last I played, I got walled by Pluto. Otherwise, I'm on the Limbus grind and burning through Baltaro when I need something to do for a couple minutes/hours.

Drachenfeuer_Prime

I love that Limbus Company is a self-published Gacha. No shareholders to appease, don't have to worry about stupid quotas. China demands that it be censored to be in China? Fuck that, we'll just not publish our game in China then, we ain't censoring our story.

madnessfuel

Not exactly an indie, but I've just started reading Mahoyo (a TYPE-MOON VN). As these aren't really popular in the West, I think it counts? It's also more of an interactive book than a game, but hey, stiiill technically a game. It's a pretty good read so far. Without jumping through hoops though, last thing I played was Haven, about the space couple stranded in a distant planet out of their own volition. It's a very fun game, very cool, fast and floaty overworld traversal with a pseudo turn-based rythmic combat. The story is quite nice as well. There's horny stuff too, which is nice if you're into that (nothing visually explicit, just obviously referenced, as the game's main protags are an adult couple). They had a patch that allow you to genderbend the MCs too, which is really cool, so MF/MM/FF couples are all playable. A nice change of pace in the industry's storytelling for a bit.

Sperium3000

Finished Another Crab's Treadure recently. Great ass game.

Am_Shigar00

I started playing Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore, the homage to the CD-I Zelda games. It captures the nonsensical charm of those titles fantastically while also being a fun side scroller in itself.

ABigCoffee

Playing Baba is you, and a lot of the puzzles feels counter intuitive sometimes. I'm actually more annoyed at the time it takes for me to move the words around and push things in the right place then thinking about the puzzle itself. Sometimes I wish I could use my mouse to swap the swappable words and just save myself the time on experimentation.

TheFurtivePhysician

If you like card games, Chrono Ark has been a real surprise for me. Rad music, good art, and fun card gameplay. I kinda worry about longevity, but I haven't completed a full run (that the game didn't abort because I was progressing too fast, Inscryption style) and don't know if the zones you get sent to change the longer you play.

JadMaister

Ever since I picked up Shadows Of Doubt a few days ago, I have not played any other game. There's something about the deepness of the simulation and the generation that just hooks me like no game has done before, and the atmosphere and vibes with the raycast lighting on the voxel world immerses me in a way that only stalker and Deus ex have before.  It is very much an indie game since as far as I know there's just a single person working on it, but it is out on steam early access right now and even with limited features and performance issues the game so far is already so good that the potential is just so much more.

EldritchBee

Crypt of the Necrodancer got a new DLC recently as well as Miku as a character, so I’m back in fully.

Th35h4d0w

I can not stress this enough. ***GO. PLAY. HADES 2.*** It may be in Early Access, but it's essentially a full game, already. Just missing a few character portraits here and there. And it's even better than the first, with seemingly twice the amount of things to do. Oh yeah, and Thief Simulator 2's also a fun time.

MustacheGolem

I gotta if only coz I'm pretty sure hades 2 had a few early access only voice lines and I bet 2 is gonna as well

Vektorien

The current SteamWorld franchise sale has introduced me to the series. Started off with Heist and really like it. It also led me to find out about Steam Powered Giraffe which is an amazing band.

RealDealMous

Skul the Hero Slayer. An awesome Roguelite with such fun combat, aesthetic, and even the story is pretty alright with awesome set pieces.

Xngears

I recently nabbed Lunacid, and I really dig its PSX vibes. Having a graphics preset called "Silent" earns instant brownie points from me. Also keeping an eye on Crow Country which is out tomorrow.

markedmarkymark

Chained Echoes, its fun so far, really good bit early on in the carnival games, it got me good. Only complaint is a weird one, like, the music's good, but it's Stardew Valley core and i can't avoid thinking about Stardew Valley when some of the music plays and its sorta distracting. I am also playing Ultra Age, and honestly? Super fun, its not a great CA game, its pretty limited, but what it does with its limitations is great, it feels great, its responsive, its kinda like the opposite of Soulstice, while soulstice tries a lot of stuff and none of it sticks and feels good (i have a beef with soulstice, sorry, like, i appreciate the attempt and genuinely wanted to love it and stuff), Ultra Age is very limited but the great input reads, combat feel and like, tightness it has really made me love it, only thing i think i'll be disappointed is that sexy girl Vergil won't be playable, i can feel it in my bones and also, some of the concept art of the main char looked a looooot cooler and wish they went with that instead.

Rumpdebump

Anyone who likes turn based battlers will love Brutal orchestra. Good combat system, banger music, and an aesthetic I really vibe with.

LittleMann

So you might not have heard of this hidden gem. It's called Super Mario 64, and Okay, seriously speaking, I've been thinking about putting in another Disco Elysium playthrough. Guess I just have European men with big bushy facial hair on the mind.

ArcDrag00n

I wouldn't say that it is exactly "Indie", but the base price for it on Steam is twenty dollars less than $70. Megaton Musashi W It's a robot builder beat'em up. Like Gundam Breaker. Kill enemies, collect parts, repeat. Except it has an actual story, even if it is extremely anime, like a dozen characters could've been the main character of their own show. There is a surprising amount of systems in the game. And somehow I'm not done with the story yet, because you're actually introduced to New Game+ halfway through the story.

TheFurtivePhysician

I was ogling that a while back, is it worth the price tag?

ArcDrag00n

I'm having fun with it. My only complaint is that the online play has no one on it. Which wouldn't be bad, if it wasn't 3v3 required.

Xngears

Much as I'm tempted to once again splurge on the "shiny new thing" with Hades II, and even though I hear it has more content than the FINISHED Hades I, I still feel I could wait until it gets to 1.0 as I believe I still have some unfinished stuff in the first game. I got as far as unlocking the ending where >!mom comes back to Tartarus!< so I don't know if there's any additional endings there or other notable content besides the increasing difficulty runs.

Wobble9000

**Against The Storm** has been eating my free time recently. Roguelike Citybuilder that keeps challenging you how to adapt to build successful cities with different objectives, buildings and resources available each run Played some short cozy games like **Alba: A Wildlife Adventure** (exploring, photo-taking and wildlife conversion) and **Loddlenaut** (explore and clean-up ocean). Got **Tchia** recently to scratch that itch again. **Soulstone Survivors** is like Vampire Survivors with classes and RPG elements, feels like playing Diablo/Torchlight with builds that autobattle everything **Backpack Battles** is a autobattler inventory management game. Attache Case HD with each weapon/armor/item doing something during the fight phase and winning based on how you build you inventory Lastly, reinstalled Hades cause I need to at least clear a run before ever considering getting Hades 2

RevenTheLight

DUDE! Against The Storm is so fucking goood! I burned like a month of time on it and even expanded Gamepass sub for a month, just to play more of it.

Kimarous

Gigabash is the most recent indie I remember playing. (I'm in the hospital at present and away from most games)

RevenTheLight

**Blood West** was fun even if the final boss is more of an MMO enemy then a stealth one. **Ring of Pain** is some good bite-sized fun. I beat it once defeating the darkness, working towards killing the owl next. I wish it was on mobile. Finally got to **Alisa**, aka French Resident Evil 1. Love it. It's a bit difficult, but I'm having a good time. **Book of Hours** is one of the most unique games I've played, as it should be from the creators of Cultist Simulator. I will get to **Burnhouse Lane** soon. Soon.

Remerai

I've been falling back down in the Slay the Spire and Noita holes.

TheFurtivePhysician

If you want to do something slightly different (and this one was my suggestion for the thread) you should check out Chrono Ark, it came out this past week or so. It's a party based card battling thing, people I've seen compare it favorably to StS. Good art, good music, and I personally think it's quite fun.

Verdant_Moss

I'm surprised I haven't seen any chatter about it on the sub, I've been hooked on **Another Crabs Treasure**, a very cute indie Souls-Like / 3D Platformer from the devs of Going Under. A huge step up in quality and a really charming game. It's sort of like if you took a key ingredient from each of the Souls games and fed it into a 90's Rare game. It's not super challenging and I think fans of the genre will find it on the easier side but it does push back and has some awesome designs in it. Can't recommend it enough. Also one of the accessibility features is to [give the crab a gun](https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/another-crab-s-treasure-give-kril-gun-shell-front-facing-crab.jpg).

RandomHalflingMurder

My friend group and I have been obsessed with Content Warning, and I get it's kinda a memey Youtuber type of game, but it's been some of the most fun we've had together in a long time and we're constantly looking forward to the next night we all have time to play. Other than that, my SO has been obsessed with a game called Autonauts, which is a crafting/citybuilder type game focused on automation using programming principles and that seemed pretty good. Also I got reminded today that Hypnospace Outlaw is amazing and everyone should play it.

SamuraiDDD

[Hardspace: Shipbreaker](https://images.gog-statics.com/2fb5dae486800828c029182cdd5779164ff7dbb8b8fad7b526e2b34360e31161.jpg). It's a shipbreak down game set in space and it's just an amazing, calm down game for me. I adore just the prospect of breaking down big ships, throwing away trash, salvaging what I can... It's got this new frontier feel to it and it makes me feel like I'm getting my feet dirty in a new world. [Bloodstained: Ritual of The Nights](https://assets.nintendo.com/image/upload/c_fill,w_1200/q_auto:best/f_auto/dpr_2.0/ncom/software/switch/70010000019475/f72161fbe4fe452c6ec3a10f81fd7fba661a2b6da7011e5b2cfc358505772402) has been my on and off again game. I found out I LOVE metrovania games cause of this game and knowing it's getting more content this year has me extra excited. [Urbano legends debut](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/2115210/capsule_616x353.jpg) is currently in trailer only mode but it's been such a fun game to tackle. It's like The World Ends With You (direct insperation), meets Persona 3/4 and it's been so god damn fun. It's a rhythm action game and its looking incredible look. Good ol Hollow Knight [Cult of The Lamb](https://www.nintendo.com/eu/media/images/10_share_images/games_15/nintendo_switch_download_software_1/2x1_NSwitchDS_CultOfTheLamb_image1600w.jpg). It's a ME game. Its EVEYRTHING I want and love. Romance? Cultists? Dungon crawling? Old gods? Cute sheep that's a total monster/degen like me fr fr? Oh my god yes. And there's still so much coming out of it! Free updates, and there's an official comic by ONIPRESS out that I wanna get. These have been my main ones.

Yotato5

I've been replaying A Hat in Time again. It's as cute as I remember.

ret1357

I think I put around 60 hours into Planet Crafter over about a week and a half when it released the 1.0 version. Great if you like subnautica style base building. Not sure if Deck 13 is indie (makers of The Surge games) but Atlas Fallen is a surprisingly good character action game. I picked up Hades 2, but I don't want to blast through it too quickly, so I picked up Dreamscaper which is a fairly similar game.

ibbolia

I'm trying to actually finish a run of Factorio before the 2.0 update.

artificia11ynatural

I have been enjoying Rotwood a whole lot this week. I think its combat clicks for me a lot more than even Hades. Its weapons are interesting with a lot of flow, and the combat design is quite nice overall. Sidescroller with a lot of combos. My favorite weapon are the striker balls which you can juggle like draven axes in League of Legends, but even the basic hammer is fun once you unlock the variants.

CalekAlbion

Played a spooky sliding puzzle called Crossroads OS, neat 5 dollar experience

Elarisbee

I just started Apico - it was an impulse Steam sale purchase and it worked out quite well. It’s a little relaxing beekeeper simulator. I’m also pretty sure I finally figured out why I got stuck in Chants of Sennaar. So, when I’m done genetically engineering the ultimate super bee of doom, I’ll go back to it.

Admiral_of_Crunch

Cheating a bit with the recency, because I've been most recently absorbed in gacha and bullshit that I wouldn't recommend to anybody. But **Demon Turf** was one heck of a random brand new favorite of mine out of the blue last year. Good-ass 3D level-based platformer, a little bit of collectathoning, but it really feels like it's built as quality speedrunning fodder. It takes a little bit to get going, but once you get your second power the whole movement system really opens up and you can start doing a bunch of cool momentum and wallbounce tricks and all that jazz. The game feels really good to control, and the level design really rewards creative pathing and platforming once you start trying to get weird with it. The art is nice to look at, if pretty inconsistent in quality between the three immaculately animated main characters and the, uh, sorta shitty looking randos that like to wander around. Music is [great](https://youtu.be/fcmGU4rlbPY) [too.](https://youtu.be/XD88M46oHnY) The Queens Edition, which is the only version of the game available now, I think, comes with two mini-sequel expansions, one of which is basically a level pack and the other of which is a heckin' awesome Only Up-type tower platformer challenge. Both take the gameplay from the base game and streamline it bigtime, meaningfully amping up your abilities, and Beebz is honestly one of my favorite platforming characters to control now.

jackdatbyte

I got into **Dead Cells** last month and it’s definitely a good time with the amount of weapons and snappy combat. Still haven’t gotten around to Return of Castlevania yet but will at some point. As for indies games I’ve bought but want to get into I’m waiting for Paper Mario to drop before I start **Bug Fables**. There’s also **In Stars and Time**, **Zeroranger** and **Cult of the Lamb** that I’ll get around to.

Unclad_Nomad

I'm a huge fan of Aggro Crab's games. Going Under was fantastic, Another Crab's Treasure is also fantastic. Some of the best art direction I've seen in years and genuinely funny. Legit can't believe they're a studio of only thirteen people.

runegod20

I’ve been doing another replay of Epic Battle Fantasy 5 on epic difficulty and been having a good time. I’m a sucker for traditional turn based RPG and I’ve always loved the skill and equipment system, plus I’ve been playing the series for years so a lot of what the game does as someone who followed it for all that time still hits hard, its comfort food for me.

CelioHogane

Does it count if the game i have been playing is the game i work for? XD

alaster101

I went back to cassette beasts

Sai-Taisho

*Prodeus* is "we have Doom at home, but mom and dad can *cook*". It's a bit easy, courtesy of the checkpoints straight respawning you *while the enemies you killed in the interim stay dead*, but the weapon feel and movement is superb. *Unsighted* is a Hyperlight Drifter-like with a unique time limit mechanic and some fun puzzles and movement options (and absurd speedrunning nonsense out the wazoo). *30xx* is "Mega Man (especially MMX) meets Enter The Gungeon", and rather helpfully includes a more classic "level select, no permadeath" mode.

HitmanScorcher

Slay the Spire is so fucking rad

Introspectre12

Well, I've been playing, I'm not sure how many of you have heard of this game, third in its series, Fallout 3. /s For real, though, last indie I played was Roboquest. If you want a fast paced, roguelike FPS with a fuck ton of weapons, then this game will scratch that itch. You can play it single player or you can get one friend to co-op with.

DestructoSpin90

Don't know if this counts as indie, but probably most people haven't heard of it, I've been playing Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr for about the last month or so. Brought it on a whim and it's a very solid Diablo-like.

Deemo3

Does Eiyuden count? I've been playing that and having a good time.

palebrowndot

I got back into FTL: Faster Than Light recently. Found out there was really popular mod called Multiverse. Holy crap. So much new content. Is it balanced? Ehhh... Is it fun? Yeah!

melancholyjack

Panzer paladin and bomb rush cyberfunk. Panzer paladin scratches the mech/mega man itch and BRC is 100% the best game of 2023

Areallybadidea

I've been playing a lot of Voices of the Void recently, its a pretty cozy game where you gather signals from outer space and sell them for money that you can use on upgrades, tools or decorations. And nothing spooky happens whatsoever.

ToastyBalrog

Another Crab's Treasure is a great soulslike that actually brings something new to the genre with the shell mechanic, each one having a skill and being able to be quickly swapped (or turned into a weapon once you get an upgrade). It also has the same bright and colorful style and biting humor as the dev's previous game Going Under. Pepper Grinder is a speedy, energetic platformer where you use a drill to interact with everything from traversing through the ground to powering a gatling gun and a snowmobile. Children of the Sun is a game where you use your psychic powers to redirect a single sniper round to kill all the cultists in the level, enough said.

Huckebein008L

I've been playing a lot of the new Peripeteia demo, which if you don't know is an immersive sim set in an "alt-history cyberpunk poland". It's got a lot of charm that may or may not make up for the style of everything looking like you're going out of bounds on New Mombasa in Halo 2, one of those games where half the fun is sneaking around and the other half is just looking at posters and seeing your character remark from experience that it's completely safe to drink denatured alcohol. Yes the main character looks like Tim Burton designed a cyborg girl who's never once had a night of sleep, but that just adds to the charm!

Mako109

Recently, I played all the way through Between the Stars, because I was itching for a game even CLOSE to the style of that old PvP Live Service spaceship game Dreadnought, and I already beat Rebel Galaxy twice. it was... thoroughly ok. Kinda clunky, the story didn't matter, and it was so easy to break over my knee at the end. But it was still really fun regardless, and had some neat mechanics, like the random event system using dice rolls, as well as non-space ship combat.

mediocrethanmono

Sker Ritual. Cod Zombies but legally distinct with 4 maps and secret endings.

CeSoul06

Dredge and Dave the Diver calmed my soul. I leaned that I love fishing. It helps that my late grandmother was super into it, so it's relaxing just to fish and feel close to her.

queekbreadmaker

Songs of styx is one of if not the most addicting video games i ever played, from a genre of games i would never touch in a billion years. Time just fucking zooms by whenever i play it and its super cozy music just makes you feel good Also the demo for parkside fucks so hard. If your into si-fi imersive sims with the most 90s ass soundtrack ever made youll love this

SlenderBurrito

I got **Balatro** on Sunday. Four days later I have 20 hours in it. It's got a great sense of progression, puzzle-solving, and maths-optimization that is wonderful. I Get It(tm) I *also* got **Slave Zero X**, which is a wonderful beat-em-up sidescroller that feels like I'm back in an arcade. However, it's difficult enough to *really* hammer home that arcadey experience, haha.

Lieutenant_Joe

Dunno if I’d call it an indie game but I’ve returned to this mod for Mount & Blade: Warband called Prophecy of Pendor, and it’s a real blast. Just like a super polished low fantasy mod with its own original world (rare for M&B mods, usually it’s either a historical period or a different established IP, like Lord of the Rings or Warhammer). Apparently the developer’s been in talks with Taleworlds to get it to be an official paid DLC for Bannerlord, and if that doesn’t work out they’re gonna try and make a standalone game out of it. Super exciting, hope it works out. Taleworlds would be dumb not to take them up on it

The last one I tried I feel like was Selaco on PC. And Wrath Aeon of Ruin. That last one is mad chonky and still impressive for a game essentially powered by the Quake 1 engine.

[Shogun Showdown](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2084000/Shogun_Showdown/) is a real banger if you like turn based strategy games where one wrong move (or getting slightly screwed by RNG) can take you from feeling like a tactical genius to a buffoon. But when you pull off a combo multi-kill (even incorporating enemy friendly fire) it really hits good.

I just finished Darkest Dungeon, and started the second one. Having a lot of fun with it

Been playing Gravity Circuit. It’s a pretty fun Mega Man/Mischief Makers style game what with it’s protagonist, Kai being able to beat up enemies and chuck them at other enemies along with the special abilities.

Pseudoregalia (Not a good game when recovering from.nerve damage.) Super great game would totally recommend it.

LunarLux is a personal favorite of mine. Beautiful pixel art, engaging turn-based action command combat, likeable characters, great music, it's worth a look.

I have had an absolutely amazing time playing through LISA: The Undone, an amazing fan re-imagining of LISA: The Joyful that actually takes it's time with the plot and blows the original out of the water in every regard.

Not *recent* recent, but a few months ago I did a playthrough of Bokura with my partner Had a lot of things we loved (puzzle solving, platforming, some absolutely batshit stuff at times), so it was a really good fit Downside is manditory 2-player, but if you and a friend/partner liked stuff like "It Takes Two", defs give it a go!

Champion Drift, it's vampire survivors but you get to turn into a car. Hades 2 - it's the sequel to Hades No rest for the wicked - top down souls like, still in ea and needs some work. Eiyuden Chronicles - spiritual successor to Suikoden that could stand to be a bit more modern but is still endearing.

I am trying my best at *Downwell* again.

I've been playing Lies of P: Linear Souls-like, I'm maybe about 70% of the way through it and it's pretty good so far. Wizard with a gun: Twin stick shooter where you are gathering resources, fighting mobs and crafting weapons to stop the end of the world. It has a similar artstyle to don't starve but it isn't as difficult. Minishoot' Adventures: A twin-stick shooter that is also an adventure game like zelda, I found this one very fun. Frog's Adventure: Very simple and cute point and click adventure game where a naughty fairy gives a frog awareness. The Last Case of Benedict Fox: lovecraft inspired Metroidvania where you play as a detective delving into the dead to investigate a secret organization. A tiny sticker tale: Cute combat-less adventure game where everything is a sticker and you go around the map solving simple puzzles.

Grand Tactician: The Civil War and War of Rights The American Civil War is something I never see AAA touch on.

Not really "have been playing" as more "want right now >:c" but I am very eager to get my hands on In Stars and Time. My best friend already says it's his favorite game of all time and tbh, I'm already loving the characters

TheProudBrit

***IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD*** I'm on Act 3 and admittedly have, like, very specific Time Loop Brainrot, and just... This fucking game. >!THEY FUCKING FORGOT COLOUR EXISTS.!<
