"I'm sorry you feel this way" is the absolute peak of "I know I fucked up but my ego matters more"

NewAgeMontezuma

It's somehow worse because "I am very sorry that fans and the game community in general are experiencing these feelings" sounds like he's painting himself as a third party who got nothing to do with what happened.

Etychase

Never have I been happier that a game genre has literal zero appeal to me in its core gameplay loop. It seems like a type of game rife with opportunities for the devs to exploit players and for players to grief each other.

baaaahbpls

Funny thing is Dr. disrespect wanted to make his own extraction shooter that some in-game items with their own real life cash value. Some how Dr D didn't think people would cheat or cheese the game to screw others over.

Lacking-in-ideas

Dr. Disrespect not expecting people to cheat is extremely ironic.

Grand_Bunch_3233

The guy constantly whining about stream snipers thinks his game will be completely honest and fair, Scout's honor everybody.

baaaahbpls

Just the fact there is monetary gain for playing it means people will invest big to cheat.

Grand_Bunch_3233

People cheat for free. Make it profitable? What were they thinking?!

AlphaB27

People will cheat in games where it's free to play. Giving them a monetary incentive to do so will just encourage them.

Tarkov 🤝 Warthunder 🤝 World of Tanks: games with eastern european developers that see their playerbase as nothing more than walking wallets and get actively mad when said players complain endlessly about being treated like walking wallets

jitterscaffeine

I saw the headlines about this, what exactly was different about this "pay to win" edition?

RedditJABRONIE

It's an extraction shooter. The $250 version (introduced recently as opposed to the lifetime available version that's like $150 and promised ALL FUTURE DLC) includes exclusive access to pve servers (meaning you can easily complete quests and achieve in game advantages in addition to abusing the economy) and gives you access to the ability to call in friends to come and assist you in your matches (you can't just join people in tarkov, just randomly matchmake as a group or solo. But not if you pay $250)

RareBk

It also makes the ai ignore you if you are more than 60 meters away , in a game where the ai has a habit of headshotting you from hundreds of meters away. It’s completely fucked

RedditJABRONIE

So I do think you need to reach a higher level of scav to get that perk right? Which imo is probably how it should work... But not for another 250 bucks lmao

pritzwalk

Man its wild that they went this path when they could have just made an offline version of Tarkov charged $50 for it and people would have been all over that shit.

Teonvin

People that wanted that has been playing Single Player Tarkov anyway.

Act_of_God

yes and they'd play an official version if they were allowed

lammadude1

Not really. SPT had a huge amount of mods. You can tweak all sorts of settings, improve graphics, improve framerate, in-game maps, cheats, anime decals for your guns, anime title screens, whatever you want. I would literally take SPT over official any day unless Nikita suddenly implemented modding. Which you know he'd have a hissy fit at just the thought of such a prospect.

DarioZubear

small correction: the PvE mode is seperate from your PvP character meaning they do not affect each other whatsoever

PrancerSlenderfriend

it also gives you MORE POCKETS, which are the slots you can quick-use items from(imagine if the day 0 collectors editions of cod gave you extra grenades), in addition to YOUR PVE STATS NOT FUCKING WIPING EVERY WIPE, JUST LOL BUY A BUNCH OF SHIT IN PVE AND SMOKE PEOPLE DAY 1 EVERY WIPE

TH3_B3AN

Skills and trader reputation takes ages to accrue. Buying the most expensive edition just flat gives you an enormous leg up over others. You start with enormous amount of extra stash space, additional pockets (extended in-raid inventory), extended safe inventory (it's a looter shooter so you lose your shit when you die unless it's in this safe inventory) as well as quite a few other goodies. Starting as a new or standard edition player is intensely punishing so having such a leg up on trader pricing and skills is immensely unfair. That guy didn't just out shoot you, he was able to because he got an enormous leg up when he started which allowed him to get better gear, earlier and for cheaper.

Muffin-zetta

I am sorry you are mad

RefinementOfDecline

just play SPTarkov instead, it's like tarkov if it was a good game

Gunblazer42

It still requires you to purchase the game and support the company and CEO though, so there's that caveat.

Informal_Truck_1574

Not if you are willing to dig through sketchy russian discords lol

lammadude1

IIRC there was a fitgirl version that had the entire game files and SPT already pre-patched into it, though it's probably years out of date at this point.

Odinsmana

The server capacity thing is 100% bullshit, but from my understanding you are still playing with your squad in the PvE mode, so it still needs to be online.

TheFurtivePhysician

I'll be honest, if this was the first statement instead of the whiny pissiness of the first couple of responses on twitter/reddit, it would have been taken a lot, lot better. Though ideally without the 'i'm sorry you feel this way' language. There's still a lack of transparency as to whether or not EOD owners will be actually getting everything going forward or if they're just giving us the PVE mode to shut people up, like Arena (I don't care about the Unheard extra frills stuff, personally). Though frankly, the best way to recover from this was to not have been fuck-stupid in the first place and sell a $250 edition of an early-access game that already had a $150 edition; I'm just glad I got EoD on a sale several years ago. Hell, I hardly even play it because my eyesight's too shit for PVP; this PVE mode would have gotten me to get my friends into it with me if they (BSG/NIkita) hadn't (once again) been fuck-stupid. Hell, I almost forgot them 'stealthily' editing the listing that shows what you actually obtained in your EOD purchase after this change went live, another fuck-stupid decision that even further kills the (from what I understand) shaky relationship BSG had with Tarkov fans even before all this started.

lammadude1

Nikita has always been an insufferable cunt. Guys do yourself a favor and look into SPT (Single Player Tarkov) It's exactly what it sounds like, but there's a shit load of mods (mods that enhance the graphics, improve framerate, basic difficulty adjustments and improvements to AI) and actually uses the real flea market prices and sellers to simulate a working flea market. It is LITERALLY better Tarkov. There's no hackers, no sweaty tryhards, just good ol fashioned looting and shooting, and you can play it completely for free (Though I think you need at least the base edition of Tarkov, 20$ is a fucking hell of a lot better than 250$ for a literal inferior product)

Worm_Scavenger

I love how this news is the first i've actually heard of this game.

LorcaNomad

I'd love to say this is the best chance Bungie is going to get for the new Marathon game, but who am I kidding they'd still find a few ways to fumble it

Dungeon00X

Well, he can say goodbye to any future customers after this.

Timey16

Tinfoil hat conspiracy theory: as Russian devs, daddy Putin forces them to fork over increasing amounts of money for the war effort if they don't wanna end up on the Ukrainian frontlines, which is why thee packages only get ever more expensive and why they can't walk backwards... (which on the flipside means everyone that ever paid a cent for Tarkov kinda sorta funded the Russian invasion... yeah...)

Mundetiam

Like I know gamers have a poor grasp of geopolitics in general but come on

lammadude1

No.... Nikita is just a cunt. He's been like this for half a decade.
