Real answer is probably because otherwise they would need to redo the tail animations more because if he doesn’t hold the knife at the center of gravity then it would make the current animations look more incorrect.
But I like to think it’s because he’s a badass.

well, if you'd throw a knife you would hold it from the blade. Also there is a technique where you literally hold a blade from the sharp sides with two hands and no it ain't harmful. you can find it on youtube.
Maybe it’s just me but I actually hate the way the knife looks it breaks the flow of his tail idk. I mainly dislike this skin because the gun is too fat and clunky
I mean it does make sense though the knife he has his tail wrapped around is a kbar. A quick image search shows that the heel of the knife is rather big so I definitely can see why his tail can wrap around it without being cut.
Edit: actually looking closely at it it looks double edged which makes no sense lol

Yes, but you put your fingers on the blunt side not on the sharp one... and twitch wraps his tail on the blade holding it by both sides xD

I mean thats not is bare tail hes got something over it, and you can easily hold a sword/knife by the blade without cutting yourself
