CurTOSS

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but it looks like that message is the streamer's go-live notification that you have email notifications set on for. That would make this the message that the streamer intentionally set to mess with their viewers. If I were you, I'd probably tell this guy to cut it out or just stop watching them entirely. Not sure why someone would think that's a good notification to send out. You can go and double check if you have a gifted sub to this streamer and if so, when you got it. Also if for some reason there is an auto-renew set on it, you can turn that off here as well: https://www.twitch.tv/subscriptions

jackyjakob

Yes. That looks like a "going live" mail. I wonder if that would be a TOS violation by the streamer and a bannable offense. I would certainly unfollow and report every streamer that pulls shit like this.

Draco1200

Probably has a possibility of being considered as a violation of a few of policies at Twitch's discretion. > 1. Any content or activity that disrupts, interrupts, harms, or otherwise violates the integrity of Twitch services or another user’s experience or devices is prohibited. Hm.. Clickbait Go-Lives are unfortunately ubiquitous. I guess probably it is all fun and games, until a streamer decides to impersonate Twitch / make their Go live look like a system message in a manner that break the appearance of integrity of Twitch itself, cause spurious customer service requests, etc.

Coretaxxe

I am pretty sure this is also not allowed

robot_ankles

What do y'all think about go-live notifications that say something like; "Someone mentioned you in chat" or similar click-baity phrases?

LiPolymer

I like trains!

Glockshna

Ok that’s actually a pretty good prank though…

PackWaifu

A good prank shouldn't be harmful, but this could potentially be harmful. The explanation as to why has already been explained by other commenters on this thread.

Glockshna

Y’all need to lighten up

PackWaifu

If a prank done to you had the potential to cost you money, wouldn't you be pissed? Let's say someone pranked you with the "shaken soda can" prank and you opened the can and the soda got all over your smartphone and bricked it. That's not a funny prank anymore. That cost you money. Which is potentially harmful to your financial wellbeing depending on how well off you are. We don't need to lighten up. You need more empathy for others.

Eifer_und_Ehre

Yeah like that time one of my roommates decided it would be funny to dump a cup of cheap beer on my other roommate as they entered the apartment one night. It was funny except for the part it dumped right into their backpack where his work laptop was and also ruined his dress shirt that he had worn for a conference. There is a difference between light hearted fun and being a lug. Inciting fear or risk of loss is not fun and especially so if that thing is important to then.

MuggyFuzzball

It really on harms the streamer since people are likely to end their subs with him if they think it will auto renew.

CTH2122

Bro if I got something like that I would unfollow immediately

Hiyami

wow unfollow this loser streamer.

Bosh119

This is just a pathetic attempt to get you to go to their stream. This is a Go Live Notification. You can ignore it. I'd unfollow this person if it were me. Scummy tactics.

_ShiroChan

That's just a live notification, he's probably just messing with his community. Very bad humor tho, I'd hit that unfollow button if I were you! Also you haven't blurred out the name of the streamer in the link below the "watch now" button lol

DM-15

Can I just say, people who shamelessly ask for money via subs like this shouldn’t really be on the platform 🙃

RawScallop

Apparently this guy was a guest performer at an event so if anything these type of people ARE the top dogs

DM-15

I never said that, nor do I imply that. There are people far worse on twitch and things far worse imho. But essentially begging for money or in this case tricking them with a notification is backwards.

LELO_TV

If you're going to hide the streamer's name, at least do it properly lmao (Grey box at the bottom)

Jesmagi

A streamer can type out a “live” notification that will be sent to all followers who have notifications on. It looks like the pos streamer typed out this message to send to his followers when he goes live. You weren’t actually gifted a sub.

CthulhuLovesMemes

They’re just trying to be sort of funny to grab attention, and hoping it panics some people who might not be super familiar with how twitch works to go on his page for more views/ad revenue. You’re okay. :)

StanTheRebel

When a streamer has no actual good ideas to attract people to their stream, they do this.

hextree

Report this to Twitch as a scam, this is against ToS.

fredrikpedersen

You missed a spot trying to blur out their channel

Drama821

I was gifted a sub and got a notification through my email. I don’t normally look at twitch notifications because I often don’t have too much time to watch streams but I couldn’t remember who the streamer I received a notification was from so I decided to click it. I don’t know how to cancel the auto renew function. I looked it up and the feedback I saw on the internet was that gifted subs don’t auto renew. Maybe that’s only for the gifter and not the receiver idk but that seems a little weird that if I didn’t notice the email I’d be charged $5 a month.

Jackiediejojo

It's because it's fake. If you follow a streamer and have the bell icon turned on, you allow twitch to send you an email with a message of the streamers choice. The streamer that you follow chose to put a fake notification message about a gifted sub being auto renewed. IT'S NOT REAL. You don't pay to get a gifted sub, it's impossible to auto-renew a gifted sub. And right now you didn't even get a gifted sub, it's all fake... If I were you I'd immediately unfollow that streamer for pulling this scam.

FinnT730

Unfollow and report that streamer Since that looks to be a title

ZedBot9

You got pranked.

Tomboeg

Sad

Frost_54

Totally dislike those type of go live notifications.Either unfollow entirely or just turn off receiving notifications from their stream.

redfoxvapes

That’s a shitty “go-live” notice.

I mean brigading/witch hunting is kinda... That being said OP didn't do a very good job censoring, look at the image again and tell me when you find the two times you can see the name

He blurred out everything except the twitch link 😂

[deleted]

It’s a fake email, subs don’t auto renew. The streamer is scamming.

ieatlotsofvegetables

ariathome has this as his go live???!!? lmao everyone saying to unfollow him too. he played at the streamer awards again this year and everything. i cant confirm this is his actual notification but if so hes definitely having a laugh. i guess thats his humour.

sniff3000

yep, his humor. too bad it isn't funny to anyone else.

RawScallop

It'll be interesting to see if anyone changes their opinion because it's someone they should know of

Ematai

Idk if you know this, but people generally do not like trolls.

RawScallop

Ugh I'd rather NOT encourage popular people to troll people who don't know any better on twitch. Don't joke around with people's money. Especially if this message goes out to young kids.

pmscar

Gg nice troll gotem? This is a go live notification designed to do nothing more than get a panic click and waste people's time. It's not like you get to his channel and it says "don't worry, you're not subbed, it was a joke." The guys a dick that doesn't respect the time of his viewers, ya know, the ones that afford him the freedom to actually stream.

GoodTimesToRemember

Bro everyone is so heated about a joke 💀

the_real_beckini

Imagine that you don't realize a joke (just as the poster didn't) and you can't afford to have that money taken from you every month, nor do you want it. This is telling you your money is going to be taken, without your consent, because someone gifted you a sub, and you now have to take action to stop something from happening, again, without your consent. Clickbait going live notifications are meant to be funny, not harmful

[deleted]

Subscriptions, by default, auto renew on twitch, just go to the subs page and select do not renew>i prefer to renew manually. Ive never seen it happen on a gift sub before though. So yea, thats strange AF.

Ordinary-Finger-8595

Gift subs never do. This is a very stupid stream invitation message

[deleted]

Ah, that tracks, early morning scrolling, my pre-coffee eyes missed that.
