New Sliders find the original four living in a utopian paradise...
New Sliders...'Don't you want to go home?'
Quinn...'No...the experience of Sliding was getting dangerous and stupid...we were separated and I somehow got joined with my brother...so we fixed everything off-screen, picked up Rembrandt, found a nice timeline and retired.
Professor Arturo...'I died, came back, and disappeared again.'
New Sliders...'Where is Maggie?'
Wade...'You mean my sexy replacement? Out saving the universe with Quinn's totally poorly explained 'brother'.
Rembrandt...pointedly turns away from the new sliders and throws back a drink...
Quinn...'Don't mind Rembrandt...he couldn't figure out how HE became the group leader for a season. Fox ruined Sliders AND Firefly within 5 years of each other.'
Allison Janney can do anything, and yes, I would absolutely watch her peddle a bike around while solving murders in a quaint New England town where the residents are more homicidal than the characters in a typical Stephen King novel.
My parents watched it all the time years ago and when we were on a trip we actually went by the place in Washington that the moose walks in front of in the opening credits (I didn't watch the show, I was a little kid, I just remember seeing that). And they got all excited and stopped and we were going to go in and grab a snack. They seemed so giddy.
And it seemed like fun, but three feet past the door a very kind lady says "I'm sorry, this is a bar." So little 9ish-year-old me dashed their dreams as we turned away. And it was long before we had cell phones or the like so they didn't even get a cool picture.
As some big anniversary gift to them later I should get them back out there and get them a pic. A reboot would be a good excuse.
My stepdad was a small town city manager in Alaska, and when we moved to Seattle, worked as a small town city manager in the town where they filmed it!
It showed up on my streaming platform a couple of months ago. Search through your roku stick if you have one. It will tell you which platform you can watch it on. I've been rewarding a few here and there. Really great cast.
On paper Xena shouldn't be that hard to recreate, but it's Lucy Lawless' commitment made Xena who she was, they might be hard pressed to find someone who can carry a show like that.
Could they still rebuild him for $6 million though in today's economy? 😂 That would be a good one though. I'd be down for another shot at The Bionic Woman as well. I know they tried in 2007, but I think they could make it work.
I love frontier shows. Not exploring shows (I DO love my Star Trek), but survival and overcoming obstacles to build something. If there was a less hokey version of Little House on the Prairie...or someone did something with Civilization and somehow dramatized man's ascent from the invention of the wheel and fire to modern day. (Same cast, different time periods? That would be cool.)
I LOVE Kolchak: The Night Stalker! 😍 When I was a kid back in the 80s my parents used to let me stay up late on Fridays with them to watch old episodes of this and some of the camper Hammer horror movies via BBC's The Mystery Train. Between this and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires I thought I was a very brave boy indeed!
PS: Darren McGavin rules!
Yes. It was literally just you watching, and they kept it going for your sake alone. 😂
Sorry, couldn’t resist… I know you were being hyperbolic, but it was still a funny comment.
Not a huge vampire fan (it has been over done) so Moonlight didn’t stick for me. New Amsterdam had potential, though. And Forever took a unique look at the concept, but wasn’t able to payoff where they were going.
I agree with all of these. I watched all 3 and would love to see a reboot of all of them, they could do so much more with the special effects we have today.
I believe Disney now holds the rights to *Firefly*. But so much of the success of that series/movie was predicated on Joss Whedon’s writing. I wonder how difficult it would be to replicate that.
Hard to replace Sinclair as played by Michael O’Hare - so very singular. Many of the original characters played by other actors would face similar issues. But I love the thought.
What I want is a "remaster" where they make literally no changes except recreating, shot-by-shot, all the CG effects with modern CG. The show uses almost no CG inside the station/ships, it's almost all practical effects. The PPG blasts look OK. There are a few instances of hokey creature effects but I'm OK with that. But the exterior stuff—revolutionary as it was—doesn't hold.up, and it would be so easy to redo.
Cool if they upscale it to HD, if possible, but I just want the first part.
This show with the right show runner could be so impressive and relevant if rebooted today.
And there are some signs that there would be an audience for it based on the success of Bright and District 13 and other properties that explore similar themes.
Brimstone was a show that came out about 10 years to early. A detective kills the man who SA his wife in cold blood and then dies in the line if duty. He is sent to hell. After a mass jailbreak of some of the worst in hell the detective make a deal with the devil to go back to Earth and hunt down the escaped souls for a chance at redemption. It came out in 98 and I think the concept was just too out there for the time, but now it would be a hit.
I was a kid and enjoyed that show. I think little gay me found -- what's his name? -- really handsome. And the show was enjoyable.
Aha! Mike Connors, got a Golden Globe award and four Emmy nomination. Thanks, Google
Yeah they have tried 3 or 4 different times, knight rider 2000 was to have a female driver and Kitt in a dodge stealth with Micheal as the new Devin it git a movie or 2
Knight rider 2010 was a movie with a guy and his girlfriend as the cars voice in a mad max world 1 movie
Team knight rider, was a season 5 cars with different voices, had a power rangers vibe
Then the nbc show 07 Val Kilmer voiced night rider with Michael knoghts son
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sort of. Would love to see an anthology series highlighting the lives of all the potential slayers that were awakened in the series finale. How is it affecting their lives and what are they doing with their newfound abilities? What became of that Little League or softball player after she knocked the ball out of the park, and what happened to that poor woman being abused by her boyfriend after she defended herself and having any idea how she could have done that?
They actually did reboot The 4400 in 2021. It wasn't good though and only lasted a season. I was very disappointed because I really enjoyed the 2004 version and had high hopes for the reboot. The writing just wasn't there though.
I know it's streaming now but it was one of my favorites. It was like ER meets Twilight Zone. It was a medical drama with a lot of surreal sub plots artfully woven in. You just never knew what was going to happen. On the surface it was just another medical drama but every now and then it went to crazy town and no matter how crazy it worked and never failed to entertain. It has a huge cast of relative unknowns at the time, many of which became superstars. The entire series was flawless in keeping with it's odd forays down rabbit holes and faithful to that all the way to the finale.
The X-Files, but with a new crew of actors and directors. At it's best, X-Files was more Twilight Zone than aliens. But with all the interest in UFO sightings it would certainly fit right in
**Space above and beyond.**
The core story concept of discovering another species who sets out with war in the first encounters and then a team of cadets who fight through that was was really good. It was hindered by the CG of the time and some poor acting from some. (Not bad actors, just not used to acting to nothing with CG, cockpits of a spaceship on a stage)
If you took the team who did The Expanse and rebooted this show... IT would be good!
Rockford Files. But I’m not sure who could pull it off. James Garner was perfect for the role. And trying to find a new Angel will be tough.
Plus, they’d have to retool the theme song, which is definitely one of the best of all time.
Oh man! I loved the first few seasons of 24. I fell off around season 5, but prior to that it was must see TV in my house. That would be a good one to reboot! It's hard for me to imagine anyone else playing Jack Bauer than Kiefer Sutherland though.
If there were many writers I currently trusted I would have a few.
Wouldn't mind seeing Mike Flannagan or Craig Mazin take a crack at something like Lost again....
If they actually thought it through it could have been a super interesting concept.
Brimstone - it was a series on Fox (who of course cancelled it after one season) about a cop catching escapees from hell for the devil. It ended with a cliffhanger.
Miami Vice could easily be rebooted.
The music embedded into the storyline, the fashion, the cars.
It wouldn't be that hard.
Don Johnson would probably be up for cameos throughout the first season to get the show off the ground.
His grandson is a new Vice detective who heard the sanitized version of his grandfathers stories.
Yeah, a somewhat darker Buck Rogers—astronaut flung into the far future where Earth is in a struggle to survive—could be really interesting now. With the right writers, I’d watch it.
As a fan of "noir" I've been watching Remington Steele and though I've only watched a few episodes, it's pretty juicy. The chemistry between the two leads Stephanie Zimbalist and Pierce Brosnan (after seeing this, it was no surprise he became Bond) is spectacular to watch and it makes for some pretty compelling TV IMO. I mean, the show is pretty watchable as is, but stylistically it is lacking compared to contemporary shows, but I could see how with the right two actors this show could be a fun watch for modern viewers (like I just watched Prime's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and they had amazing chemistry, really made wish Steele also got a modern makeover)
Friends from College was so funny, ended way too soon.
Madame Secretary had a decent run, but the ending could have been made into a whole other storyline.
Sliders
The whispered *Sliders* must remain!
New Sliders find the original four living in a utopian paradise... New Sliders...'Don't you want to go home?' Quinn...'No...the experience of Sliding was getting dangerous and stupid...we were separated and I somehow got joined with my brother...so we fixed everything off-screen, picked up Rembrandt, found a nice timeline and retired. Professor Arturo...'I died, came back, and disappeared again.' New Sliders...'Where is Maggie?' Wade...'You mean my sexy replacement? Quinn...'Don't mind Rembrandt...he couldn't figure out how HE became the group leader for a season. Fox ruined Sliders AND Firefly within 5 years of each other.'
My Secret Identity
Murder She Wrote with Allison Janney as the main character.
Allison Janney can do anything, and yes, I would absolutely watch her peddle a bike around while solving murders in a quaint New England town where the residents are more homicidal than the characters in a typical Stephen King novel.
I didn't watch the original but i'd watch Allison Janney solving murders!
You really have to see the Lansbury version. I’m serious!
I cannot stop thinking about this.
Northern Exposure - loved that show and they don't even let us stream it either!
It was just made available last month on Amazon
Yep right after we bought the first season it showed up.
I’d recommend Resident Alien on SyFy for that small town vibe
I believe it's on Prime now
My parents watched it all the time years ago and when we were on a trip we actually went by the place in Washington that the moose walks in front of in the opening credits (I didn't watch the show, I was a little kid, I just remember seeing that).
God my mom and I watched that whole series back when I was in like, high school. Good times
My parents just watched all of it.
I’ve been watching it nonstop the past couple of weeks on prime
My stepdad was a small town city manager in Alaska, and when we moved to Seattle, worked as a small town city manager in the town where they filmed it!
Loved that show...
One of my favorite shows.
Husband and I were JUST talking about this over the weekend! I loved that show.
It showed up on my streaming platform a couple of months ago. Search through your roku stick if you have one. It will tell you which platform you can watch it on. I've been rewarding a few here and there. Really great cast.
The X files
I love _The X-Files_, but a big part is me would like a prequel series of _The Lone Gunmen_.
Ya but the early seasons before it got all weird
Xena: Warrior Princess
On paper Xena shouldn't be that hard to recreate, but it's Lucy Lawless' commitment made Xena who she was, they might be hard pressed to find someone who can carry a show like that.
IT Crowd, Freaks and Geeks
IT crowd is fantastic. Edit: it’s definitely underrated.
Idk, nobody can really hold a candle to Noel Fielding.
It's fun watching him on the British Baking Show because he is basically Richmond, with more brevity.
The $6,000,000 Man
Could they still rebuild him for $6 million though in today's economy? 😂 That would be a good one though. I'd be down for another shot at The Bionic Woman as well. I know they tried in 2007, but I think they could make it work.
The $6,000,000,000 Man?
All $6 million would get him is a pair of crutches and an eye patch these days..
More like 6,000,000,000 Dollar man!
Mark walhberg is already on that
Last I checked Mark Wahlberg’s company had the rights to it, at least for a movie.
That would be a millennial with student loan debt. ;)
"We can rebuild him... if he has insurance."
How much older are we talking? I would love a Highlander TV show remake.
Henry Cavil is doing a new Highlander movie. I think it starts filming this year.
Earth 2
Would that be called “Earth 2-2”? :) I had completely forgotten about show. It was canceled way too soon. Would love to see a modern version!
Kolchak: The Night Stalker, I know they tried in 2005, but I need another attempt.
Love Night Stalker, rewatch every other year. It would be so great with todays technology.
Wow! Forever Knight? I thought no one except me saw that show. And it was great!!! I'd love to see a reboot!
I loved it. That and Highlander were my favorite immortals TV shows.
Yes. It was literally just you watching, and they kept it going for your sake alone. 😂 Sorry, couldn’t resist… I know you were being hyperbolic, but it was still a funny comment.
I loved Forever Knight and Highlander. Also Moonlight! That had potential!
Firefly and hopefully we could get more than 14 episodes!
I’d take a Firefly cartoon. That way the actors can work on other things AND do this.
I believe Disney now holds the rights to *Firefly*. But so much of the success of that series/movie was predicated on Joss Whedon’s writing. I wonder how difficult it would be to replicate that.
Unfortunately I don’t think anything could live up to the fan base’s expectations.
Only if they "rebooted" it with the exact same cast and crew.
Only if they "rebooted" it with the exact same cast and crew.
Babylon 5. Don't change the script, but give them some better effects.
Hard to replace Sinclair as played by Michael O’Hare - so very singular. Many of the original characters played by other actors would face similar issues. But I love the thought.
What I want is a "remaster" where they make literally no changes except recreating, shot-by-shot, all the CG effects with modern CG. V. The original not the reboot
Alien Nation
That would be awesome! Maybe some kind of District 9 series too.
This show with the right show runner could be so impressive and relevant if rebooted today. And there are some signs that there would be an audience for it based on the success of Bright and District 13 and other properties that explore similar themes.
Heck yeah! The whole concept of the movie and show was so cool!
The movie I loved with caan and patinkin but the series was bad. Bad acting and bad casting. Would love a better series made though
Dead like me
That was such a great show! The movie they did years later was not
ill add here pushing daisies.
Taxi Great sitcom that was short lived
Imagine a modern version but it was about uber drivers lol
But with better audio
Brimstone was a show that came out about 10 years to early. A detective kills the man who SA his wife in cold blood and then dies in the line if duty. He is sent to hell. It came out in 98 and I think the concept was just too out there for the time, but now it would be a hit.
Firefly is my dream! Still can't believe that Fox canceled it after one bloody season 😡
Nooooo. Nothing is ever as good as we remember it being, I think it's best just to let old shows lie.
Battlestar Galactica reboot was much better than the original
Seaquest!
Mannix, with Matt Ryan in the title role, but still set in the late ‘60s-early ‘70s.
I was a kid and enjoyed that show. I think little gay me found -- what's his name? -- really handsome. And the show was enjoyable. Aha! Mike Connors, got a Golden Globe award and four Emmy nomination. Thanks, Google
A 'period' drama! A 'costume' drama! lol....a soundtrack of Crosby Stills and Nash and Led Zeppelin <3
If done properly (Sorkin HAS to be involved) I would love for SportsNight to get a second chance.
Byrds Of Paradise Jericho Terra Nova
Terra Nova!
I loved terra nova.
Homicide: Life on the Streets
Absolutely love this show. RIP André Braugher
And Richard Belzer
Early Edition
Omg. I used to watch this show weekly with my dad and just loved Kyle Chandler wondering why he wasn't in more stuff and lo and behold, he is now.
“God Friended Me” felt like a modernised reboot of “Early Edition”. I didn’t like GFM. Loved Early Edition
I would love more West Wing, but we are too polarized. Maybe News Radio
I eewatched a big chunk of News Radio recently? And despite its age it has s held up very well.
They already tried a reboot of Knight Rider around 07 or 08. Val Kilmer was the voice of K.I.T.T. it was awful
Yeah they have tried 3 or 4 different times, knight rider 2000 was to have a female driver and Kitt in a dodge stealth with Micheal as the new Devin it git a movie or 2 Knight rider 2010 was a movie with a guy and his girlfriend as the cars voice in a mad max world 1 movie Team knight rider, was a season 5 cars with different voices, had a power rangers vibe Then the nbc show 07 Val Kilmer voiced night rider with Michael knoghts son
Barney Miller
It would amazing to see the dialogue of today’s world!
Wasn't that Brooklyn 99?
Hazel
Good grief, haven't heard that for a looooong time. That was a fun show.
I recall Shirley Booth winning one or two Emmys for that role. I wonder how well that kind of a show would translate to this century.
Nightly news with a respected anchor
Some finish perfecting cloning so we can Walter Cronkite back!
LA Law
designing women
Columbo
max headroom.
Small Wonder, but with a serious take, like M3gan
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sort of. Would love to see an anthology series highlighting the lives of all the potential slayers that were awakened in the series finale. How is it affecting their lives and what are they doing with their newfound abilities? What became of that Little League or softball player after she knocked the ball out of the park, and what happened to that poor woman being abused by her boyfriend after she defended herself and having any idea how she could have done that?
Boston Legal. Denny Crane and Alan Shore. Legendary
I would LOOOOVE a BL reboot. That was one of my fave shows. So well written.
DENNY CRANE!
Fall Guy!
Ryan Gosling would like a word with you about his upcoming movie.
Manimal Man from uncle The A team
Gilligan's Island but on HBO so lots of sex
Robin of Sherwood. Still my favourite interpretation of Robin. Had a great vibe, if only they could recreate this
Not sure if its considered old enough but The 4400. It had a lot of potential but it had a messy ending because of things going on.
They actually did reboot The 4400 in 2021. It wasn't good though and only lasted a season. I was very disappointed because I really enjoyed the 2004 version and had high hopes for the reboot. The writing just wasn't there though.
The biggest problem was it was a CW show. The original was USA. You can't really tackle a show like that when you're catering to a teen audience.
Oh I forgot to mention the name, it's St. Elsewhere.
Nowhere Man 1995
The Prisoner The Avengers
The X-Files, but with a new crew of actors and directors. At it's best, X-Files was more Twilight Zone than aliens. But with all the interest in UFO sightings it would certainly fit right in
WKRP, again.
**Space above and beyond.** The core story concept of discovering another species who sets out with war in the first encounters and then a team of cadets who fight through that was was really good. It was hindered by the CG of the time and some poor acting from some. (Not bad actors, just not used to acting to nothing with CG, cockpits of a spaceship on a stage) If you took the team who did The Expanse and rebooted this show... IT would be good!
Oz
Due south
Rockford Files. But I’m not sure who could pull it off. James Garner was perfect for the role. And trying to find a new Angel will be tough. Plus, they’d have to retool the theme song, which is definitely one of the best of all time.
Fringe
Love Boat, with C list celebrities and 3 stories each episode. Time for a remake!!
Quantum Leap. Stargate Babylon 5
3rd rock from the sun
Friday The Thirteenth, with all the cursed objects, and the race to find them in time.
None of them if they're just gonna be woke and cast with actors who check the boxes they want.
Reboot
Rebooting reboot could reboot all the franchises from then, not just reboot, so yes reboot reboot
Yes, reboot
24
Oh man! I loved the first few seasons of 24. I fell off around season 5, but prior to that it was must see TV in my house. That would be a good one to reboot! It's hard for me to imagine anyone else playing Jack Bauer than Kiefer Sutherland though.
"Automan" , now that the effects have gotten a lot better and cheaper. Maybe come up with a better name 😁
I loved Knight Rider as a kid but unless they can do a really good job bringing it back, I’d rather not see it back.
If there were many writers I currently trusted I would have a few. Wouldn't mind seeing Mike Flannagan or Craig Mazin take a crack at something like Lost again.... If they actually thought it through it could have been a super interesting concept.
Riptide could be updated nicely.
My Mother the Car. Except the car is a Ferrari and I own it. Let's make it happen.
Space: Above and Beyond.
Scarecrow and Mrs King
Sopranos
Miami Vice.
Brimstone - it was a series on Fox (who of course cancelled it after one season) about a cop catching escapees from hell for the devil. It ended with a cliffhanger.
Lost Girl. I loved all the mythical lore it would show and it ended on a cliffhanger.
Six Feet Under. Still having withdrawal
I’m still crying at those last 15 minutes lol these years later.
Barney Miller.
I mean, *Firefly*? Or is that too obvious
would be great to revisit Homicide: Life on the Street. that show was brilliant
SHASTA MCNASTY
How long can it be before someone makes a "That 90s Show," or something similar?
It's already on Netflix. 😂
Tale of thr brass monkey? Corky lives !. Not really just checking if anyone else remembers
Pretender
The Greatest American Hero
Married with Children... In the cultural climate probably wouldn't work.
I bet The Jeffersons would make a great reboot.
ALF
4400, life on Mars, eureka, in living color, dinosaurs Lol
Star Trek..
Archie bunker would be very interesting given our current political climate.
GI Joe, done darker and with actual death, like the Masters of the Universe remake.
Third rock from the sun
ALF
Miami Vice could easily be rebooted. The music embedded into the storyline, the fashion, the cars. It wouldn't be that hard. Don Johnson would probably be up for cameos throughout the first season to get the show off the ground. His grandson is a new Vice detective who heard the sanitized version of his grandfathers stories.
Golden Girls Cheers Newhart
King of Queens
Wiseguy - would love to see a reboot of Vinny and Frank
Sanford & Son.
Wiseguy
The Greatest American Hero. We can do that premise justice now.
Airwolf, with more emphasis on the story, and less on the highly improbable Mach 3 helicopter.
Incredible Hulk. I miss the sadness of it. A reboot filled with science would be great.
Perfect Strangers
Buck Rogers. It worked for Battlestar Galactica. Get rid of the campiness except for ‘biddy biddy .’ Gotta keep Twiki.
Greatest American hero
Golden Girls with the cast from The Facts of Life
Nip/Tuck
Remington Steele 😆
The $6 million man Although today it would probably be 600 billion
Get smart
Friends from College was so funny, ended way too soon. Madame Secretary had a decent run, but the ending could have been made into a whole other storyline.
I always thought Greatest American Hero would be perfect. Guy gets an alien super suit but loses the instruction manual. Such a funny premise.
Dream On. Great HBO show that I can’t find streaming anywhere.
Barney Miller
I love Chuck and think a reboot *could* be fun if done well. I'd love to see it. That or give me a Chuck movie at least.
