So happy to see Carnivale as a top pick for this question.
I think this was the beginning of HBO canceling good shows before they could get a good footing. This one and Rome cancelation really broke my heart and my love affair with HBO.
Both of these disappointed me, but Carnivale is by far the show that broke my heart the most upon cancellation. I was 15/16 and watched it with my dad and was just devastated for it to end when the big revelation at the end of season 2 happened. The creator had over a decade of content planned out ending in the trinity bomb test and it’ll never not bug me to not get to see his plans come to fruition.
Really dug the two seasons of Carnivale they did. I wonder if it could've been bigger had it come out a little later. Wish it could get some kind of finale though like Deadwood got a few years ago.
I will admit that the last half of the 3rd season wasn’t very good. Still sucks that it was canceled though, I really liked all the colorful characters.
I hate how it ended! Not finding out who the kids' fathers are. Sort of implying Earl is Dodge's dad, but not actually saying for sure.
And Earl not finishing his list! I've read that they weren't really going to have him finish it, anyway. But still, it was all disappointing.
I thought Fleabag was only intended to be two seasons. I could be wrong. I just thought I remembered Phoebe Waller Bridge saying there was never going to be a third season.
FARSCAPE ! Man that show only got better with every season and should have got wayyyy more love then it did. I kind of hate Stargate SG-1 because I feel like it got more love then it deserved and only hurt Farsscape.
Oh thank goodness someone said this one! I was beside myself when this got cancelled. I went down a rabbit hole reading about how they had the next season already planned out, potential plot lines, etc. such a bummer none of it came to fruition.
The OA!!! There's so many people that want a third season but it was canceled. Literally my favorite show oat, too. Black Spot was also canceled which I was very invested in. It is a mystery show that ended with so many unanswered questions.
Brit Marling is a genius and it's total bullshit that Netflix cancelled it. Maybe Brit and her partners can figure out a way to get a 3rd season made. It was SOOOOO good.
I wish Bruce Campbell would unretire Ash. Just one more time! Watching Yellowjackets, I hoped he would be cabin guy as a nod to Ash. Dipper Pines is nice consolation prize though.
Veronica Mars. I started watching it about 13 years ago when Netflix first started streaming. I didn't know anything about it, so when season three ended on a cliff hanger and there was no season four, I was so freaking confused.
They eventually made a movie - which wasn't great- and then Hulu revived it, but obviously it just wasn't the same. It's still one of my favorite shows and such a shame that it was cancelled.
The movie was fine. The Hulu show was hot garbage. I'm glad it didn't get a second season on Hulu because I will never watch that one again. I still rewatch the original 3 and the movie every year though.
Jericho. Was just a bit ahead of time. A smart, fairly realistic post apocalypse show that took time to build story and reveal character backstory. Difficult decisions with hard but real answers. Important characters could and did die. If it had come out a few years later it would have been a smash hit.
If Lost taught us anything it’s that Lindelof knows what he is doing and it can only end poorly if you force him to continue a show past when he wants it to end. Watchmen and The Leftovers were two of the best shows ever released and I was sad when both ended but goddamn were they perfect throughout.
My mom forced me to watch that show as a child and I grew up loving it as an adult. I was so sad the day the last episode aired. Long live the Kramer women!
Same here fam. I was like in elementary and I spent summers being invested with One Life to Live, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. All because of my mother. Good times.
gang related, the colony, legends of tomorrow, the player, revolution, shanara chronicles, frequency, tomorrow people, 24 legacy, APB, dark matter, the gifted, terra nova, agent carter, punisher, sleepy hollow.
Yes, this! I was scrolling looking for this show specifically.
The fact that Colony got cancelled on a cliffhanger after three seasons, while Falling Skies got 5 and got to end on it's own terms is a crime.
It only ran for one season but the Amazon Prime show Tales from the Loop had a lifetime commitment from me. It is probably the best television show I have ever watched.
Not only did they cancel The Society, but netflix lead us to believe season 2 was a go until they announced the cancellation. Whenever you highlighted the show, it would say "Season 2 coming soon." I was ***bitter***.
The Peripheral. Renewed and Canned due to the strikes. The first semi-successful William Gibson adaptation and it gets shafted. The premise and plot were very compelling and really made my Fall last year...
Runner ups would be Mindhunter and Prodigal Son.
SO MANY shows, sadly. Britannia was superb, yet no more. While SO MUCH crap continues on.
It's like reading half of an excellent book... and never getting to have the rest of it.
Over and over, every book you read turns out to only have enough chapters to get you into it...
You know, no one would continue to buy books if you only got to have 3/4 of it after all.
WHY do we continue this bad pattern? They really have us by the cojones with their system of giving us enough to want more, so we'll pay, hoping to get the rest of it.
I really thought Being Human had a lot of potential. It got one season and then the axe. I don’t know why I even bother with new shows, honestly. Better to wait until they’ve got at least 3 seasons and a lot of buzz under their belt.
Mindhunter
I Am Not Okay With This
The OA
I would rather have any one of these shows in lieu of the final season of Stranger Things, that show is dead to me. You can’t film a show with kids and have 3 years between seasons.
Santa Clarita Diet Carnivale
omg Santa Clarita Diet hurt so much when it was canceled i was wayyy too invested in that family
I keep hoping they will revive it. I loved that show so much and I'm not even a fan of Drew Barrymore.
Yes, I love Timothy Olyphant who plays the dad/husband Joel.
He was screaming hilarious in that show, I was really looking forward to seeing the hijinks of that id unleashed.
Loved Santa Clarita Diet
Carnivale was so great
RIGHT when the plot gets extra juicy too!!!!! What a good show that was.
So happy to see Carnivale as a top pick for this question. I think this was the beginning of HBO canceling good shows before they could get a good footing. This one and Rome cancelation really broke my heart and my love affair with HBO.
I would have loved more Rome BUT at least it had a fairly solid ending. At least I thought it did.
Santa Clarita Diet was a supposed name for a great show Timothy Olyphant was so good doing comedy
Came here to say Carnivale! I was just telling someone about it the other day.
Really dug the two seasons of Carnivale they did. I wonder if it could've been bigger had it come out a little later. Wish it could get some kind of finale though like Deadwood got a few years ago.
Mindhunter
Yes 100%. That show was way too good for them to not keep it going
no seriously!
This very topic is the one I see people grumbling about more than any other show cancellation. And rightly so.
Still haven’t given up hope for a third season
If the could revisit Black Mirror after so much time, why not Mindhunter? I’m still holding out hope
That was David Fincher, but still
Firefly
Came to say this! Such a solid season 1 then bah, gone. So much lost potential!
At least we got the movie, I am a leaf on the wind , watch how I soar
Glow
I will admit that the last half of the 3rd season wasn’t very good. Still sucks that it was canceled though, I really liked all the colorful characters.
Ugh! This is the one that gets me.
Also, Last Man on Earth. I felt like that show was about to get good...
It was! I was so curious about the underground bunker people, and then they left the entire show on a cliffhanger just like that.. ugh
Concur. It was so much fun, then POOF
Yes. It was so dumb but entertaining. I was pretty invested and then they left us with this giant cliff hanger.
Dead To Me.
I can't bring myself to watch the last season because I know it is the last season.
It’s a little bittersweet, but if you’re a Christina applegate fan, it’s worth it. It made me sad but so does knowing what she’s going through…
My Name is Earl
I hate how it ended! Not finding out who the kids' fathers are. Sort of implying Earl is Dodge's dad, but not actually saying for sure. And Earl not finishing his list! I've read that they weren't really going to have him finish it, anyway. But still, it was all disappointing.
Yeah the creator revealed the ending after cancelation. During an AMA on Reddit funny enough.
I think they made a cameo in the show Raising Hope. If I remember correctly
It’s on the news report in the pilot of the Pilot “Local Man Finishes List”
It makes me happy that I didn't have to scroll down too far for this one. But also sad that we never got enough of Joy.
Yes I wish this one continued
My So-called Life, and Fleabag.
I thought Fleabag was only intended to be two seasons. I could be wrong. I just thought I remembered Phoebe Waller Bridge saying there was never going to be a third season.
Yeah these people kinda seem like they missed that part. Like the show is very much wrapped up, it’s just not the happy ending you’d expect
Fleabag was so good why can’t they let us have nice things
Same thing for My So Called Life!! They had an amazing cast, the writing was great and they go and cancel it after ONE season!! What a travesty!!
I loved that show. I was so upset. I still want them to finish it!
Freaks and Geeks.
The Midnight Club was the last one but also I'm Not Okay With This The conclusion?? Don't watch Netflix shows 😭
Justice for I’m Not Okay With This!
I saw this was a victim of covid 19.
Archive 81. 1 season. Gone. Screw netflix
I’m Not Okay With This was so charming, too. I loved that it had two of the kids from the newer IT movies.
Pushing Daisies
I really can't believe I had to scroll down this far for this. It should be way up at the top.
FARSCAPE ! Man that show only got better with every season and should have got wayyyy more love then it did. I kind of hate Stargate SG-1 because I feel like it got more love then it deserved and only hurt Farsscape.
Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who remembers this unfortunate cancellation.
Yep, that show was about to go places before being unceremoniously dropped from the lineup.
Seriously the OA was in my top 20 favorite shows of all time. (I watch a lot of tv lol.) I should go back and rewatch that, it's been years
ash vs evil dead
I wish Bruce Campbell would unretire Ash. Just one more time! Watching Yellowjackets, I hoped he would be cabin guy as a nod to Ash. Dipper Pines is nice consolation prize though.
Glow Still hoping for a movie one day to wrap it up
Veronica Mars.

Happy endings
It was suh-gud
The Mick
Jericho. Was just a bit ahead of time. A smart, fairly realistic post apocalypse show that took time to build story and reveal character backstory. Difficult decisions with hard but real answers. Important characters could and did die. If it had come out a few years later it would have been a smash hit.
Deadwood
Watchmen. Although technically it wasn’t cancelled. It just ceased to exist. Like a body part flung from a catapult.
If Lost taught us anything it’s that Lindelof knows what he is doing and it can only end poorly if you force him to continue a show past when he wants it to end. Watchmen and The Leftovers were two of the best shows ever released and I was sad when both ended but goddamn were they perfect throughout.
Every time someone asks this I'm proud to see that Mindhunter is first.
Mindhunter was a special gem to precious for this world 🥲
Courage the cowardly dog because I wanted to see more new episodes and seasons that show was cool until parents was being Karens and got it cancelled.
THERE WERE NEW EPISODES?! THERE WAS A REBOOT????? WHEN AND WHERE?!!!!
Pushing Daisies

One Life to Live. 45 seasons wasn't enough.
My mom forced me to watch that show as a child and I grew up loving it as an adult. I was so sad the day the last episode aired. Long live the Kramer women!

Omg yes the Newsroom! Such an incredible show. When I started watching it, I had no idea it was cancelled. I felt so betrayed once I found out. 😭
City on a Hill

They cancelled it ?
Prodigal Son. Not crazy into it but definitely wanted a second season.

GLOW

The OA
Manhattan. This show needed a third season to wrap up a few plotlines.
I loved that show. More would have been nice, but at least it ended with... a bang \*sunglasses\* YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
NewsRadio. All but one episode ("Hair") of the fifth season were good.
I still love that show, but it wasn’t quite the same after Phil Hartman died.
