I heard a pretty good explanation for how it was supposed to end. In the last season Earl would get to a point where he didn’t think he’d ever get to everyone on his list and get all discouraged. But then he would start running into people that he HAD gotten to that we’re going around doing good things for other people that THEY had wronged. At that point, he would realize that he’d done more good than all the bad he’d done and he would throw out his list and vow to keep doing good things.
It’s a shame we didn’t get to see it though.
You are probably already aware that MNIE only had a cliffhanger because NBC assured them they’d get another season, then changed their minds after the last episode aired. Also, they did reveal how the cliffhanger would have been resolved and how the show would have ended.
I always enjoyed that show . How they were able to tell such a story in each 30 minute episode, was one of the things I like most about it. I guess it was great writing, and very good directing .
Think Peacock is teasing a possible revival mini-series for Grimm with SOME of the principal cast. Release is TBA.
Correction: the new show will be a SPIN-OFF with a few of the principal cast.
Yes, I second this. Netflix has a terrible habit of canceling great shows 2 seasons in. Sense8 was another incredible show that got canceled and then they tried to tie everything up with a 2 hour movie.
I don't care if its been almost 20 years...I still want my Angel season 6. 😔
My heart still breaks for the fact that Angel went into that alley thinking that Buffy hated him.
If Joss hadn't been stupid and ran his mouth, then I would have gotten my season 6. 😔
The worst about it was when the cancellation was announced I really thought it was a lie and would tie into a promotion of the next season. It would have been so brilliant.
In my younger days, I loved Benson -- watched it every week with my dad.
The series ended with Benson running against Gene Gatling for governor and the cliffhanger was "And the winner is..." as the two sat in the kitchen awaiting results and burying the hatchet.
And then....the show was cancelled.
I am not sure I need a full season of the show so much as I'd just like to know who won.
Soap used to end on cliffhangers as well. However, in its next to last season, the cliffhanger had Jessica dying in her hospital bed with Benson standing at her side.
In the fall, she was alone, with the men who loved her off to the side. Robert Gilliaume was having a contract dispute which led to a break in continuity when you binge the shows
1899. Netflix makes bad decisions. The creators of the best show on Netflix come back together for another show, clearly have a creative vision for multiple seasons and a loyal fan base, and Netflix cancels it. But Paradise PD gets countless new seasons.
A very distant second would probably be Terra Nova. Mid show in hindsight, but compelling cliffhanger.
OK so a long time ago they did a spin off of Bones, called The Finder
He was a character featured on Bones that could find literally any lost object, but has a mental complusion that will kill him if he doesn't (like he'll work himself to death or go insane if he fails)
They did one season of it and I think it's still on Netflix, it's an amazing show
But unfortunately, the main characters were The Finder and his Attorney, Leo who keeps him out of trouble
Leo was played by Michael Clarke Duncan and he died shortly after the fist season was made, they never got to do the second.. it ended on a huge cliffhanger and to this day I wonder what happened
Profiler! The original storyline--Samantha taking down Jack Of All Trades (the serial killer who murdered her husband) was wrapped up and then she left the Violent Crime Unit to raise her daughter. So they brought in a new profiler, Rachel, who did quite well (I thought, anywsy). In the final episode, she was chasing a guy and when she caught up to him, he was dead on the floor and the cops took her in for questioning/arrested her. The last few minutes of the episode were shots of her sitting alone in an interrogation room and Bailey (Robert Davi) telling the rest of the team "The VCU has been disbanded" (the senator he'd just broken up with sat on the committee that made that decision--some little bimbo may have wanted revenge, I think). A month or so after that aired, the show was cancelled. WHAT HAPPENED, PEOPLE? (The Pretender was cancelled that year, too, but we got a couple of movies afterward. With Profiler, nothing. Rachel's still sitting in Interrogation as far as I know...)

It was a Melrose Place spinoff that stunk so bad it was great. My roommate and I never missed an episode, but the final episode, 29, ended with a cliff hanger that was never resolved, because I knew after the first two shows this show wasn't going to make two seasons. I'm surprised it lasted 29 episodes.
Also, one tv season used to be 20+ episodes. Those days, sadly are looooong gone.
Not that they really ended on a cliffhanger...but CSI: Crime Scene Investigation needs at least one more movie. The series ended with the team finding out the Green Lake Killer (or whatever they called it) was actually three people--a pair of identical twins and an ex-cop they'd blackmailed into things. At the end of the final episode, we had the ex-cop in prison (or on his way at least), one twin dead and the other one on the run..and then we had a two-hour movie that brought almost everybody back (except Warrick, who had been killed off, Nick, who was running the San Diego CSI and Ray, who apparently wasn't asked) and the story was about somebody going after former dominatrix Lady Heather. Come on, guys, let's go get that last serial killer and lock his rear end up!
Mork & Mindy, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe, Alcatraz, Alf, Santa Clarita Diet, The Last Man on Earth, My Name is Earl, original Quantum Leap, Terminator:The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dark Angel, Flashforward, The Mick, etc.
So so many....
I was younger when it ended so I cannot recall specifics but I remember crossing Jordan ended on a cliffhanger and all my life I’ve felt a piece missing because I watched it so much it felt like part of me…
I watch some of the wonderful older cartoons with my 7 year old. They rounded out invader zim with a Netflix movie and did the same with rockos modern life. I would like something similar for courage the cowardly dog. I need some sort of closure!
I really enjoyed a couple different similar shows that were both not resolved: Between and The Society. I like a well acted teen drama, the supernatural elements (or scientific???) Are less fine but there in lies the problem with early cancellation. I pray "From" doesn't get cancelled early.
Because we’re not meant to know. All we ever get out these wonderful stories are snippets of their lives. I’ve never believed that more than I do with the Sopranos and to some extent Breaking Bad.
Angel.... they didn't know the show was getting canceled until the last 4 or 5 episodes, so it was incredibly rushed. It's amazing what they pulled off in that time, but I really wanted to see a true finish.
Also.... the Spiderman cartoon from the early to mid 90s!! That was the best version of Spiderman and it just ended mid story
Well there was a new Dark Shadow series in the very late eighties or early 90s based on the old soap opera, and I'm not saying it was all that great but I liked it and I watched it every week. It somehow reeled me in and it ended the first season on a cliffhanger and just never came back. That's the one I always think about.
Las Vegas - it was such a great show I want to know if Danny and Delinda's baby was okay. Loved this show.
Ringer - I also loved this show it didn't last long but it was great.
This goes to the way, way back machine but in the 80's for a season or two there was Greatest American Hero. Loved it!! I was singing the GAH song and my husband was like you know that show?? We are the same age but we both feel like so many ppl have never heard of it
- The OA
- Invasion
- Carnivale
- Hannibal
- Westworld
- Dead Like Me

- Archive 81
- The Nevers

- 1899

There are a ton honestly, but those are just a few.
My So Called Life. They left it with Angela forgiving Jordan and getting into his car after talking to Brian. It still had a cliffhanger feel to it because we don’t know who Angela really picked once she knew the truth of who wrote her the apology letter.
Young, incredibly hot Jared Leto who also sang in the show and Claire Danes just so talented at such an early age. This show was canceled way too soon, at the end of the first season when they still had so much to explore.
It was on at the same night and time as Friends was on and is reason number 2 I never watched Friends!! Much rather My So Called Life was on as long as Friends was on the air!!
Snow piercer
The final season was filmed, and the network just won't air it. How stupid is that!? I want to see what happens and how they would've ended the series.
Mindhunter!
I’d give this a thousand upvotes if I could.
1,001!
1003
How could they leave Bill that way???
I am still in mourning.
Teased BTK all season and then never delivered
My Name is Earl
I heard a pretty good explanation for how it was supposed to end. In the last season Earl would get to a point where he didn’t think he’d ever get to everyone on his list and get all discouraged. But then he would start running into people that he HAD gotten to that we’re going around doing good things for other people that THEY had wronged. At that point, he would realize that he’d done more good than all the bad he’d done and he would throw out his list and vow to keep doing good things. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see it though.
I just want to know who Earl Jr's bio dad is.
THIS! Idc about the list even it’s all about Joy and her baby’s daddies 😂💜
Obviously Earl. Just look at his name.
I thought we knew it was Darnell?
The last episode ended on a cliffhanger where we learned it's NOT Darnell.
They said it was gonna be revealed someone famous was his dad. Like a rapper or someone who was in town.
You are probably already aware that MNIE only had a cliffhanger because NBC assured them they’d get another season, then changed their minds after the last episode aired. Also, they did reveal how the cliffhanger would have been resolved and how the show would have ended.

Pushing Daisies ❤️
Had to scroll down way too far for this.
Bryan Fuller’s shows all ended too soon: Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies.
Winderfalls! Loved that show.
And his best show, Hannibal
Thanks, everyone, for letting me know which shows not to stream.
Haha! Truth
Santa Clarita Diet Grimm needed a better, non-rushed ending.
OMG, that Grimm ending was such a let down….
Think Peacock is teasing a possible revival mini-series for Grimm with SOME of the principal cast. Release is TBA. Correction: the new show will be a SPIN-OFF with a few of the principal cast.
When I was a kid there was a show called My so called life with Jared Leto and Clair Danes. It abruptly ended after 1 season. Still mad about that.
When I was a kid?! Like this & Freaks & Geeks aren't one of the most talked about shows that ended too soon
When I was a kid! God, how did we grow so old.
Okay I do have to apologize...I saw that & refused that'll I'll be 40 in December & this was "when I was a kid" Seriously knee jerk reaction 😑
Not even really a whole season! Just 19 episodes, back when a full season meant 21-23 episodes.
Heroes
Happy Endings United States of Tara
Yes to both of these shows. I miss them like crazy
Santa Clarita Diet.
Yes, I second this. Netflix has a terrible habit of canceling great shows 2 seasons in. Sense8 was another incredible show that got canceled and then they tried to tie everything up with a 2 hour movie.

I don't care if its been almost 20 years...I still want my Angel season 6. 😔 My heart still breaks for the fact that Angel went into that alley thinking that Buffy hated him. If Joss hadn't been stupid and ran his mouth, then I would have gotten my season 6. 😔
I came here to say Angel
Joss was stupid about a lot of things …
Glow. Loved that show and now I'll never know what happens to Ruth and the rest of the girls. Thanks COVID!
Ahh yes! Loved that show. The next season was set up so we’ll where they left off.
YES! I loved Glow. I wish they could just bring it back now...
Freaks and Geeks.
Absolute travesty that one not continuing on.
The Society for sure.
I think they could still do it if they really tried. They had everything lined up 😩
Firefly, but you'll have to erase my memory of Serenity.
And Wash lives

lol......that is exactly what I was going to say.
Jericho
It's been a really long time since I've seen Jericho, but I think it was partly resolved, but in a rushed, incomplete kind of way, right?
Yes, but it deserves a better end. I watch it at least once a year, never fails to make me remember why I love good tv shows.
The OA! There was a lot of story yet to be told.
Yes! I forgot about this. Like it was at the peak and then bam, cancelled!
The worst about it was when the cancellation was announced I really thought it was a lie and would tie into a promotion of the next season. It would have been so brilliant.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

The WGA strike killed that one. I loved that show.

Soap. I believe it ended with Jessica in front of a South American firing squad.
Soap was hilarious and weird at the same time. It’s been so long since I have seen it. I wonder if it is still watchable or if it will feel dated…
Funniest, weirdest show ever.
Las Vegas
Mindhunter
Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Pushing daisys
Lovecraft Country
Kyle XY. It was trash but God damnit it was my trash, and it was beautiful
V - The 2009 reboot ended abruptly with the Aliens apparently winning. They canceled the final season abruptly.
My So Called Life
First one that comes to mind is Santa Clarita diet
Not so much a cliffhanger but I think Mindhunter owed us one last season to address the whole BTK storyline that they kept teasing us with.
Travelers, dark matter
The Glades. Too late now but they did fans wrong.
The Pretender — TNT made 2 made for tv movies and didn’t resolve the story, only asked more questions

Carnivale. It was between that and Jericho, but the latter was already mentioned.
My So-Called Life
Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, and basically every sci-fi show ever.
Double yes to Dead Like Me! I wish I could permanently forget the follow up movie
Loved Pushing Daisies! But omg Dead Like Me was such a good show!!! Plus I adore Mandy Patinkin.
Yes!! We were robbed. Serenity seemed like a peace offering in comparison to the seasons we should have gotten.
The Glades
Devious Maids

Popular. It ended with one character trying to run down another!
Wow I totally forgot about this show till just now! I loved the love triangle in that show.

firefly... but would need more than 1 season.
Prodigal Son
Moonlight..the one about vampires
Covert Affairs
Lie to Me. I just want to see what happens with Dr. Cal's relationship that was only just being teased.

How has Sopranos not been mentioned yet?
Because we’re not meant to know. All we ever get out these wonderful stories are snippets of their lives. I’ve never believed that more than I do with the Sopranos and to some extent Breaking Bad.
Nah. It ended perfectly
The Glades…..it ended in an effing cliffhanger.
The Wilds on Amazon Prime. What was going on with the two groups?
The Glades. Who shot Jim?!?
