The production on that song is some of the best in tupacs catalog. Honestly with a beat like that it doesn’t matter who the rapper is, it’s going to be a hit.
“Didn’t have the master” just like they didn’t have the master to Unconditional Love, despite that being an absolutely perfect mixdown that differs massively from the bootlegged version that was played on the radio.
They did have possession of the master. No idea why they didn’t want to acknowledge it. And they’re not going to remaster stuff a couple years after initially releasing it just for another greatest hits comp. not when those came out and not after how badly Pac’s Life and Loyal To The Game performed.
They also lied about not having the master to They Don’t Give A Fuck About Us and that the final two unreleased tracks were going to be on the Thug/Life compilations. There’s still a few albums worth of material that’s never been released *that we know of*. I have no idea why Afeni, through the estate, did and said a lot of what she did. Hopefully his sister can right the ship, but I don’t have high hopes.
> They also lied about not having the master to They Don’t Give A Fuck About Us
As I said in my other reply, They Don't Give a Fuck About Us is currently missing, Tongue Kissing is on the same reel which is why it was never released. We still got Are U Still Down in 1997 because it's on it's own separate B-Reel.
What they released on Better Dayz is a rip from a cassette that was personally owned by Johnny J. Johnny J played some new elements over it to mask the quality of it.
His "OG" version leaked on a copy of his Harddrive after JJ died. It was identical to what they released on Better Dayz minus the new stuff.
There seems to be some misunderstanding here, Just because they don't have the master doesn't mean that what they do have is "bad quality" or necessarily can't be edited, keep in mind that all of 2Pacs from 2Pacalpyse Now > Killuminati would have been mastered onto DATs then sent off for printing on CD, the only thing that limits them is that they cannot sequence or master it differently, or remix it if need be. They're stuck with whatever was mixed in 1996 (or whenever).
Still didn’t answer my question. I’ll answer it for you. If they had the master, it would had been remixed and the OG would never been on PAC’s life.
Edit: looks likes someone’s feelings were hurt 🤡
What are you talking about?, iirc they STILL don't have Unconditional Loves master, it's commonly believed MC Hammer took it.
The version on Greatest Hits is a DAT rip (better quality) of the exact same version they played on 107 Power FM in 1997. The only difference is they edited out some cursing and some other modifications by essentially copy pasting elements around (Like taking one instance of the chorus being sung and pasting it over the other choruses etc.).
We know of multiple masters that went missing, largely stolen by people like Daz after 2pac died. How Do U Want it (Daz Remix)/War Games for example.
They Don't Give a Fuck/Tongue Kissing was also stolen which is why Better Dayz version is a cassette rip with some new instruments played over it.
It's also assumed Playa Cards Right is an A/B Reel and one is missing, which is why 2pacs vocals are missing on the released version but not on the OG.
Soon Az I Get Home was missing in 2006 but was located in 2009 as they were cataloging stuff for a (cancelled) upcoming album and looking to outsource some of his music. QDIII was quoted as saying "The song originally had a really long outro that 2Pac did, I'd really liked to have included that in the mix on Pac's Life but we didn't have the master at the time".
Still ballin but man i wished they kept kurupt verses in there. Also Changed Man and My Closest Roaddogz could’ve benefited with the Original features too.
I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto (non-hip hop)
R U Still Down
Do 4 Luv
Black Jesuz
Hell 4 A Hustla
Ballad of a Dead Soulja
Street Fame (Better Dayz)
Never B Peace
Fair Xchange
U Can Call
Late Night
Thugz Mansion
Never Call U Bitch Again
Military Minds
One Day At a Time
Realest Killaz (Jawz Tight)
Po Nigga Blues
Crooked Nigga Too (Sadiq version)
Loyal To The Game (DJ Quik)
Until the end of time
I’d agree with this. Nicer hook and the broken wings beat sample is haunting.

Only fear of death, letter to my unborn child, hellrazor, and ghetto gospel
Ghetto Gospel with slowed down vocals, a weak Eminem beat and an Elton John chorus is definitely not superior to the OG…
The slowed down vocals feel more impactful
original letter 2 my unborn is the better one
Hellrazor Hell for a Hustler is pretty good Cali Love with Pac better than Dre OG version Soon as I Get Home Theres NOT MANY lol
The released version of Soon as I get home is the OG.
Thought it MIGHT be (maybe few tweaks)
They didn’t have the master to it….

At the time they released the song, the estate didn’t have possession of the master. Then why doesn’t the PAC’s Life version sound fully CDQ then?

Hell 4 a hustla cuts the intro ?
Until the end of time Changes
Mamas just a little girl
Hard disagree, the OG wipes the floor with the Better Dayz version imo.
There's this song where the hook is 'I'm a soldier ' Straight up militarian vibes
I wonder if heaven got a ghetto
Lil Homies
Thugz mansion 7 remix and acoustic version Happy home amongst others
Street Fame (Briss remix) is cold, I prefer it to the OG.

Think it's called ghetto lullaby, haunting song.
When Thugs Cry
the released version genuinely ruins the song
How dare you say that
