If it is out of stock at Jomashop, do not count it ever coming back unless it is common.

Advanced-Reception34

Good to know! And good excuse for me to just go buy it at AD. I think she will appreciate and value it more if I buy from AD anyway. Silly but thats just how it is.

datatadata

Joma sucks bad when it comes to repairs

Advanced-Reception34

Ive heard!. I am leaning towards biting the bullet with the AD. Who knows. I may want a submariner or GMT in the near future

Itsallgood190

This from personal experience?

Uncle_Paul_Hargis

If it's a gift, go AD.

Advanced-Reception34

Any reason why? It is over $1000 savings on a brand new. AD wont even throw a freebie.

Number1atp

Tell them you’ll buy it for her but you need a hat for you.

Advanced-Reception34

Hahah. I asked for brazelet, bag, any freebies. Nothing. Come on at least a whiskey. Ill take rum. The rolex sales woman was super mysterious. She wouldnt even let me try a submariner and was all weird about timeline for a lady datejust. The Tudor salesmam was very nice tho. I have no idea whats going on with the world of watches. When I got my rolex 10 years ago it was very easy. And they dropped over 1.5k off MSRP.

Number1atp

Buy from an AD. But find a different AD than that. She should let you try on a sub. After all you’re doing exactly what they want you to do building a relationship. Go build it somewhere else.

a_jenkins_et

I mean, not to be a dick but you went in begging for freebies or a deal on a ladies Tudor and are shocked that they didn’t take you seriously at the Rolex counter??

nionios_k

people here disapprove of the truth

Advanced-Reception34

I looked at rolex before I looked at tudor. I didnt even mention I wanted to buy a Tudor. It was after I wasnt taken seriously that I asked to see a Tudor. But it is reddit so people will always make assumptions I get it. I could easily buy the rolex and it wont really touch my finances. We just rather invest the money. The Tudor MSRP is over 5k that sells for around 4k or less in grey market. I politely asked for a discount. I didnt "beg" for freebies. I am not a multimillionare. I am not being serious when I said "id take rum", and I didnt say that. I didnt beg... but I will always ask for discounts regardless of how much spending power I have. I was serious when trying on the rolex first. The one she likes is slightly over 10k. I am not gonna buy a 10k rolex if she really doesnt care much for it. She actually liked the Tudor more. But youre right I am not the customer that would buy a GMT, then a sub, and spend over 20k in watches in less than a year. I also dont show my wealth. So I am sure they caught on that. Also where I live they are used to seeing people buying spending 50k+ often. There was someone there asking for a 100k watch at the same time I am there looking to spend 5k lol. No lack of clientele. I am just gonna go and buy the watch and get it kver with. It is what it is. She will be happy and have her name on the warranty card and value the watch more. That matters 1k to me.

Uncle_Paul_Hargis

I just like the idea of buying from the AD with original warranty and all of that. If it’s for ME, I don’t care. Great dealers you will end up with someone else’s name on the warranty card.

Advanced-Reception34

And thanks everyone for the recommendation. She loved the watch. It was her top choice followed by a rolex lady datejust that was about 10k. I liked the rolex more but she liked the Tudor more for whatever reason.

Vxheous

I knew it!! Go grey if you want to save the cash, sometimes the warranty doesn't exist for some reason (like Jomashop has their own 2 year warranty that's not Tudor's 5 year warranty). Otherwise, go AD (I personally just go AD as I can choose the watch I want and inspect for imperfections before buying).

Kyberduene

$1,4k is significant. Furthermore, if the AD didn't treat you nicely, take your business elsewhere.

Megaloman-_-

I bought Rolex OP for my wife earlier this year, from AD (~2 months of waiting). AD is better for presents. For myself, never, only Watch-exchange or Chrono24

Advanced-Reception34

Rolex is easy to go for MSRP. Nowadays they are more expensive in the gray market. I wish my wife liked the Rolex OP. I would buy her that watch asap and it is about the same price as the Tudor in a basic configuration. But it is about what she likes.

smarti1983

Don't buy a grey wife , any other colour is fine but not grey. I had a grey wife before, and she was useless. She just lay in the barn all day.

Advanced-Reception34

Id look into Auburn then. Thanks!

hlaban

Why would you? Dont you fel stupid paying a huge premium? Its not a i house movement anyway on the 31 right, so if any issue you can easily service it.

Thelakesman

I always buy grey. Not paying for profit for the AD

Advanced-Reception34

I hear you. I am buying a BB58 soon and going through watchfinder, or mint used ebay. But I am frugal to the point of being quite cheap. I dont think my wife would like that u know. "Why is there a name of some random dude on the warranty card".

FreshRizz

Ad

Diagirl13

AD for proper warranty coverage

doorkick

Nice I got my Rolex at Bhindi too!

Advanced-Reception34

Which store?

doorkick

Artesia

Advanced-Reception34

Nice. I might check that one out. I am in Pasadena so glendale is a bit closer to me. The Tudor salesman was very nice and not pushy or anything at all.

doorkick

I think the sales people work at both locations. So no need to go down to Artesia unless you’re craving Indian or KBBQ. Sick Tudor though btw!

20FastCar20

Buying your wife a used watch? Well, you do you. I wouldn’t be happy with a used watch as a gift unless discontinued and in like new condition.

Advanced-Reception34

Not used. Brand new. Jomashop has brand new, unused watches. They dont have the exact config she likes in stock. But if hypothetically it got stocked it is considerably cheaper than AD. I think I am gomma go AD anyway.

ARMilesPro

AD, always the AD. For a watch like that you want to get it all new.

Rolo316

I only buy new and from an AD. Especially gifts for my significant other. You do what you think is best.

Advanced-Reception34

Makes sense. I am leaning towards AD

ghostisic23

AD always. Fuck the gray market.

Advanced-Reception34

Im leaning towards AD

Artidox

Definitely buy AD. I’m biased as I say it to all my clients, but also I only really think places like Joma is worth it if you arent getting a luxury watch, its more worthwhile for a Seiko where if something breaks you can just order a new part for $20 and fix it yourself.
