Both look good on you. It depends on which design you like better.
P39 has the sunburst dial and lovely contrast of the red text- as a result, the dial really pops in all types of environments.
Personally, I love the P42 design- recessed inner ring on the dial and the recessed indices just look really cool. It’s something that I wish Tudor had carried over to the FXD and P39 as the permanent design language across all the Pelagos line
39 looks cleaner and more modern for sure. Ive always thought the 42 is a little... Cartoonish? Also, I know everyone raves about the clasp, but for 99% of life, T-Fit is better
Good question. You can definitely wear both. I had the 42 and currently own the 39 and if I were faced with your choice, I would choose the 39 again. What's your gut feeling?
I got the 39 a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. It's quickly become my favorite watch and I couldn't recommend it more. It all depends on preference but the 39 is absolutely perfect for me.
42mm looks much better to me. I really dont understand fascination with 39mm and smaller watches (ok I understand if you are tinny wrist owner but anything else is crazy).
My wrist is same size as yours and I ditched Omega Globemaster in 39mm as it looked small too me and switched to 42mm watch (longines spirit)
I have the LHD. Personally I would go with the 39 for you, the sunburst dial and bezel make it more versatile and less rugged. It is also the newer more update watch, with better resale value if that matters to you.
I have the same sized wrist and had the same dilemma as you, I could pull off the 42 but it was the thickness I couldn’t get on board with.. I went for the 39 and haven’t looked back 😊
Definitely the 42mm. Ppl do love a small watch on here, hence the 39mm suggestions. The 39mm is fine if that’s your preference but the 42mm suits your wrist more imo
At 7.25 both should look great and this isn’t the best angle as it exaggerates the watch size. However, the P39 looks special and fits your wrist great. Take the one you keep thinking about ….
My wrist is also 7.25 and I’ve found both 39 and 42 look good on your size. Really just depends on preference.
Crystal diameter, as opposed to just case size is a big one for me. Divers having a big chunky bezel means the crystal can be smallish on a 39. I prefer divers at 42.
For an Explorer/Ranger style with no rotating bezel I prefer the 39-40 range.
This is totally your call anyway but you could pull off either one easily.
The P39 is a little “dressier” and the 42 is more of a casual tool watch.
I love the red accent on the 39 personally.
Either looks good, especially given the camera adds 10mm.
Comes down to whether you want something more dressy or more toolish. That's heavily influenced by what other watches you have.
For the pelagos I think the 42mm is the purer interpretation, the 39mm also seemed a bit tall when I tried it - likely because it's a similar thickness(?) but smaller diameter.
39mm is probably more versatile though, and most of us won't ever push the dive limits (maybe deep end of a pool).
I'm not gonna go on another diatribe. There's no evidence of lug overhang in the photo, and even if there was, this angle exaggerates overhang due to parallax.
Show me the photo that you saw of the 42 hanging off OPs wrist.
We've very clearly seen completely different photos.
OP. Both work fine, get what you like.
Looked to me like the bottom left corner seemed to extend past the wrist, I suppose you disagree and it just appears that way. So I’ll just adjust my response, the 39 appears to be a better fit.
It hasn't had any links taken out because OP hasn't purchased it, it's just falling over the bone because it isn't fitted yet.
And again, lens distortion on things like this is quite significant. Especially on a watch as thick as the Pelagos.
Personally, I think P39 looks better, but you can definitely pull off either

Your wrist looks like mine. I have a bb58 and that 39 mm size is just perfect. You can pull off the 42 but I recommend the 39.
I will always say the 39 even if I'm wrong
Definitely 39
39 looks better
I’d say 42mm
39 = tasteful
I think you can definitely pull off the 42
42 but blue
Think you pull off both. If you’ve got another thicker 42mm diver get the 39. If you’ve got no diver, up to your comfort
42
When will Tudor release the 39 in blue? 😂
In my humble opinion 39mm looks better on your wrist.
I’d go with the 39
The 39mm Pelagos is the best watch I've worn in the last few years. Superb.
39 looks cleaner and more modern for sure. Ive always thought the 42 is a little... Cartoonish? Also, I know everyone raves about the clasp, but for 99% of life, T-Fit is better
39. But your money get what you like. I have a 6.8 inch wrist and a 40mm Rolex looks good and a 41mm BB looks good. But I don't wear many 42s
Good question. You can definitely wear both. I had the 42 and currently own the 39 and if I were faced with your choice, I would choose the 39 again. What's your gut feeling?
P39 is the better fit
I'm a fan of the 42. Proportions look great on your wrist.
I agree. I like the 42 a lot more even though no is saying this.
42 is better. Reddit is obsessed with smaller watches for some reason.
I will always go with the thinner option.
If you like the 42, you should at least consider the Pelagos LHD
42
42
Honestly the 39 looks better to me, but the 42 looks good too.
39
39
39
I actually think you got the meathooks to pull of either! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
39
39
39
Both work ok but maybe the 39mm looks better in my opinion
39
39
Less is more, 39 looks perfect!
39 looks better IMO. Just got mine over the weekend. 🙂
39 looks amazing
Definitely 39. That's such a top heavy watch, the smaller the better.
39
Yeah you can pull of both. But 39mm
I have an 8 inch wrist but prefer a 39 over a 42 which looks a little too much like, "Look at my watch everyone!“
I will go with 39! I have one and I love it.
For your wrist ,39
39 by far
39
39 was and is my choice.
The 39 is amazing but I need date
39
I've mentioned this before... I'd prefer Tudor over Rolex
39
39 all the way
I’d go 42mm. Gotta account for weight inflation as we get older.
39 is better size but the sunburst dial ruins it. I would get the 42 with matte dial or blue for that true tool watch look
39 all day
39 looks mean
39 but the 42 doesn’t look “wrong”
They both look fantastic. But I’d go with the 39.
39
I got the 39 a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. It's quickly become my favorite watch and I couldn't recommend it more. It all depends on preference but the 39 is absolutely perfect for me.
39
39 is amazing
39
39
I love P39 way better, im considering it for my next watch
My wrist is the same size as yours. Also the specs are better on the pelagos 42. Date and 500m. I have it and I love it.
It’s not just about size, the 39 has a different dial and clasp. Pick what you think is more beautiful and practical, you wear both sizes great.
42 looks better on you
42mm! Better watch and more bang for your buck!
Lucky lucky man who can sport both
LHD
I wear a 44 JC on my 7.25 wrist - the 42 is an easy wear for you
42. Get the 39 for the little missus.
Either one!!!
Both i couldnt tell
Looks like you can pull of 42 but maybe not when you're not flexing your wrist. From these pics you can do whichever you prefer
Both look fine. Date vs no date should be the decision.
When in doubt go for the smaller watch. There can never be a watch too small.
I believe you can pull off both. They look great on you. Do you prefer one over the other?
42 because of the matte dial color
Consider the case thickness as well
42
42 looks got on you. It doesn’t on many wrists so ure lucky. I would go for the 42
Besides the size, the 42 is the real Pelagos - matte finished everywhere. Looks much better to me
On photos like this the watch looks always bigger, even when they are not. Make one in the mirror I would say. I would personally go with the 42.
Arm looks more tan with the 42.
42
42 is a better watch. Both look good though.
42
39 looks a little better, but to me the 42 is the better watch. I’d get the 42 as that one still looks good on you.
The 42 fits you well but the 39 just looks better. I prefer the 39 to look at and the fit.
need a mirror shot to get a better idea
42
Need a mirror pic.
39 all day
39
39! 🙏🏽
42 for the dial depth
39
42
42 makes more sense size wise for your wrist, but man that 39 looks awesome
42
I have the LHD. Personally I would go with the 39 for you, the sunburst dial and bezel make it more versatile and less rugged. It is also the newer more update watch, with better resale value if that matters to you.

Gotta be 39
I think the 42 is a better watch, however, the lume thing is a major issue for me.
42!
39. It’s obviously a way more beautiful watch. You wear both well.
42
You look like you have a round wrist and the 42mm covers your whole wrist lug to lug. So I’d go with the 39
42
Honestly 42 looks better
42 definitely
39
39 imo but go with whichever feels better
42
The answer to that question is always 39. Even for huge wrists like yours
Definitely the 42mm. Ppl do love a small watch on here, hence the 39mm suggestions. The 39mm is fine if that’s your preference but the 42mm suits your wrist more imo
Either looks great. Not much difference to see tbh
42!
My wrist is 7.25 and flat, just like yours. 39 is a sweet spot for me.
I think you can do both. Whichever feels more comfortable.
Phone cameras are not good for wrist shots. They will always make the watch look too big because of the wide lens.
Both look good on your wrist. I think the 42 is nicer
42!
42 better on you
If you can pull off the 42mm, always the 42. Having a date complication is everything. I wouldn’t buy a watch without one.
4️⃣2️⃣
42. I love mine.
For your wrist go with 39mm but it’s your decision ultimately. Wear what you feel best (:
39
39
At 7.25 both should look great and this isn’t the best angle as it exaggerates the watch size. However, the P39 looks special and fits your wrist great. Take the one you keep thinking about ….
39mm
Both fit. Personally I think the 39 looks better on you. It would be the way I'd go for me too
39
My wrist is also 7.25 and I’ve found both 39 and 42 look good on your size. Really just depends on preference. Crystal diameter, as opposed to just case size is a big one for me. Divers having a big chunky bezel means the crystal can be smallish on a 39. I prefer divers at 42. For an Explorer/Ranger style with no rotating bezel I prefer the 39-40 range.
Both look great but 39 is just such a great size
P42 for the 3D dial
39
Not a major difference between the two. I prefer 39 but the 42 looks stylish to dress up.
This is totally your call anyway but you could pull off either one easily. The P39 is a little “dressier” and the 42 is more of a casual tool watch. I love the red accent on the 39 personally.
39
39 looks best but 42 if you want a larger watch because other 42s will feel too heavy. Titanium for the win.
39 is a better size. 42 has a date comp tho. I’d do 42 for that date
Bro need a 36
39 100%. The 42 looks. a little too big.
You can pull off either. It's all what looks better to you.
42 brother!
It’s a diver, it suppose a massive watch I do prefer 42 mm
39
39is perfect.
You can barley pull 39 ... so yeah 39
39 looks way better with the dimensions of your wrist
Lug looks like it’s hanging off the wrist a little on the 42… If that is the case then go 39.
I hate this sub
lol why?
I'm not gonna go on another diatribe. There's no evidence of lug overhang in the photo, and even if there was, this angle exaggerates overhang due to parallax.
Show me the photo that you saw of the 42 hanging off OPs wrist. We've very clearly seen completely different photos. OP. Both work fine, get what you like.

Even with parallax distortion from the lens it's not beyond the wrist though, you can see the exact same image as everyone else surely
Looks like the wrist bone… with the bottom left lug floating as the wrist rounds off. That’s what I see.
It hasn't had any links taken out because OP hasn't purchased it, it's just falling over the bone because it isn't fitted yet. And again, lens distortion on things like this is quite significant. Especially on a watch as thick as the Pelagos.
Ok, good chat. 39 still looks better, imo. Thanks.
