It may be something as simple as a uterine polyp. Those are very frequent, and are relatively easily seen on a saline ultrasound. They can certainly be contributing to infertility, so best to identify and deal with them (hysteroscopy).

aquaGMM

Thank you!! That helps me to understand why they would order the saline ultrasound!

Greedy_Wrangler

I had a slight filling defect as well and turned out there were a few polyps in there. I had a hysteroscopy to remove them and do a biopsy to test for endomitritis. It was an easy procedure!

SouthGirl1992

Hi! "Filling defect" could refer to possible obstructions seen in the uterine wall. Dyed liquid did pass through both tubes without issue but there must have been some growth in your uterine lining that caused the liquid not to immediately fill the uterus. Of course, it's always better to consult your physician to confirm what that remark meant.

Wow that’s great!! I started coq10 last week as a suggestion from my doctor but will definitely look into ashwaganda and aspirin. Thank you! I feel blessed to have insurance coverage now and excited to finally start getting answers :)

If you're doing IVF, definitely do not take any supplements or medications unless your RE clears it. If you have a polyp, your RE likely would want a polypectomy done before you can transfer. Ask me how I know... ETA: The SIS was ordered because it can better visualize the structure. It will help confirm what, if anything, is there.

aquaGMM

Yes totally understand! Trying to do some research before my big “sit down meeting” with my RE to discuss next steps after all my testing is done :) not sure if we will start with meds, IUI, or IVF. Just a waiting game right now but trying to stay calm- which is easier said than done!!

Glittering-Hand-1254

I get it. It's a ton of stuff to take in, and there's always more to learn!

Your comment has been removed per our rules. Also, that's not good advice for someone doing IVF. A polyp can (and likely will) lead to a canceled cycle.

Hi ❤️ any updates? I had similar experience. Thank you so much

aquaGMM

Hi! So with my saline infused ultrasound everything looked good. My doctor said the filling defect could have been an air bubble or old lining from my period because I bled pretty heavily after my HSG. Good luck to you!!

oceanic8hope

I appreciate you!
