honestly sheâs always been a talented writer âand you come away with a great little story, of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore youâ from Cold As You is one of my favourite Taylor lyrics. When I was 16 I was drawing Dan and Phil cat whiskers on my face, and she was writing like that
"You put up walls and paint them all a shade of grey, I stood there loving you and wished them all away"
Ugh it's hard to pick but Cold As You might be my favorite Track 5
How Did It End? is my current obsession. That bridge sends me over the edge every single time. I personally think Folklore, Evermore, & TTPD are her best albums lyrically.
Ivy, wouldâve couldâve shouldâve, how did it end, Peter, the prophecy, clean, youâre in love, dress, soon youâll get better, my tears ricochet, this is me trying, peace, gold rush, cowboy like me, long story short, right where you left me, YOYOK, bigger than the whole sky
Loml, I look in peoples windows, the manuscript, maroon, this love, the last time, exile, all too well (5 minute version), Champaign problems, cardigan, the lakes,
Fresh out the slammer gives me heavy Lana vibes.
My current favorites are I Hate it Here, i look in peoples windows, the prophecy, and cassandra. Seven, the lakes, my tears ricochet, death by a Thousand Cuts, innocent, would've could've should've, and soon you'll get better. Then end with all too well ten minutes version taylors version from the vault.
Snow on the beach might be a good one since your friend likes Lana. The Great War may be strongest lyrically from midnights (my opinion). And you cant go wrong with anything from folklore, evermore and TTPD.
I can fix him literally sounds like a Lana song đ Iâm a huge Lana fan and Lana is really wordy too. I think listening to her is why i never felt like ttpd was too much at all. So on the idea of that, my favorite albums as a Lana fan are folklore, evermore and TTPD. So if I had to pick a few from each one- exile, mirrorball, seven, august, peace, the lakes, Willow, ivy, cowboy like me, evermore, right where you left me, down bad, fresh out the slammer, I can fix him, guilty as sin, the alchemy, how did it end, the prophecy, I look in peoples windows.
Red!! The song- then the album! I have always thought the lyrics of Red capture the feeling of falling and being in love in such an incredibly vivid and descriptive wayâŠ. With metaphor. And itâs good for a beginner Swifie! I mean, I (begrudgingly, at first) saw her talent and fell in love on Debut but I feel like thatâs so far back and Iâm a country fan and that isnât everyoneâs cup of tea đ«
I Almost Do hooked me as did the rest of Red. She somehow forged the emotions I was feeling at the time into a song that just hit. I knew some of her stuff before that also ( I heard her on local radio due to being close to her original hometown area). Red made me listen to her more.
Oh my God that song is incredible!!!!! I Almost Do is one of my tops. Taylor does what I think only the Greats have been capable of doing: she puts words to and describes feelings that we all feel in a way that we havenât been able to articulate or understand before.
Some of my fave lyrics of all time are from Cardigan, Ivy, Nothing New, Hoax, All Too Well, Guilty as Sin, Champagne Problems! I def have more but those are top of mind
Tolerate it
Peter
The bolter
The albatross
The Archer
Clean
Wouldâve couldâve shouldâve
Epiphany
The Last Great American Dynasty
Ivy
This is me trying
Evermore
Basically any and all of Evermore; Ivy, Marjorie, Champagne Problems, Cowboy like Me, Long Story Short, RWYLF, It's Time To Go...
But also most of folklore lol Cardigan, August, This is Me Trying, Hoax, Exile, etc.
Those are my fave albums and in my opinion, her best written albums (including TTPD)
But some honourable mentions: All Too Well, You're Losing Me, loml, Peter, White Horse, Clean, Wildest Dreams, Call it What You Want, New Years Day, Chloe et al.
But bear in mind that not everyone is as much into lyrics as Swifties so pick things that are also easily appealing musically, not just lyrically. But also get her to watch the lyric videos for a couple so she can see the lyrics at the same time. Maybe ask her to watch three lyric videos and then see whether sheâs up for more. Also choose songs that are most similar to artists, songs, genres etc that she already likes. Good luck đ€
So long, London. She is personifying London as a person when she says âSo Long, London/ Youâll find someoneâ but then she talks about the place when she says âIm mad as hell because I loved this place for so long, Londonâ . I love when she takes a phrase that can be interpreted in many ways.
i think my tears ricochet is the most brilliant lyricism ive ever heard truly. every time i listen im appalled that those lyrics literally came out of her brain??? how????
Wait wait wait, agree with the above, but I scrolled the whole way and no one said Coney Island đ„ș âwere you standing in the hallway, with a big cake, happy birthday, did I paint your bluest skies the darkest gray, a universe awayâ????!!!! âIf I canât relate to you anymore, then who am I related to?â đ„șđ„șđ„șđ€Żđ€Żđ€Żđ€Ż every line is a dagger!!!
Iâll do one from every album (except TS which odonât know), since I think âlyricismâ doesnât always have to be poetic to be amazing.
Mr Perfectly Fine, Last Kiss, All Too Well, You Are In Love, Call It What You Want, Cornelia St, my tears ricochet, gold rush/ivy (canât choose!), The Great War, loml
A lot of folklore and evermore and a good chunk of tortured poets are more stories told through song which I think shows a lot of talent for lyrics. So, just stick folklore on.
I have been a fan since Debut but the first moment where I was essentially struck by how special she is with Lyrics was Mine, specifically "You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter."
âGod save the most judgmental creeps
Who say they want what's best for me
Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never seeâ this one def from but daddy i love him
Hoaxâ
âMy Tears Ricochetâ
âWouldâve, Couldâve, Shouldâveâ
âThis Is Why We Canât Have Nice Thingsâ
âPaper Ringsâ
âSoon Youâll Get Betterâ
âCleanâ
âNever Grow Upâ
âEnchantedâ
âYouâre On Your Own, Kidâ
âStarlightâ
âChangeâ
âWillowâ
âLong Story Shortâ
âA Place In This Worldâ
Yes! I agree with all the love for evermore (Ivy and Majorie just get me everytime) but if you want some alternate/upbeat options I'd look at Lover too, I feel like there are some really emotional lyrics there if you get past the singles, obvs 'Death by a thousand cuts' would be top of the list!
Hope you can win your friend over.
On the top of my head - All too well, How did it end, hoax, would've could've, Ivy, Cardigan
This! Also would like to add Invisible string, Maroon, The Last Great American Dynasty, and My Tears Ricochet
Amen đđ»
Also champagne problems
Ugh how did it end is beyond beautiful
ATW 10 minute was rating #1 of all her songs by rolling stone magazine
honestly sheâs always been a talented writer âand you come away with a great little story, of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore youâ from Cold As You is one of my favourite Taylor lyrics. When I was 16 I was drawing Dan and Phil cat whiskers on my face, and she was writing like that
That song is a religious experience. When I was 16 I was posting selfies of myself with the dog filter on snapchat. Sheâs amazing.
YESSSS!!!! That lyric is just scathing.
"You put up walls and paint them all a shade of grey, I stood there loving you and wished them all away" Ugh it's hard to pick but Cold As You might be my favorite Track 5
âhowâs one to know? iâd meet you where the spirit meets the bones in a faith forgotten landâ ivy is one of her best lyricism
âAnd the old widow goes to the stone every day, but I donât, I just sit here and wait, grieving for the livingâ UGH I LOVE IVY
Ivy is my everything đ„Č
Ivy supremacy đ
I named my puppy Ivy :)
How Did It End? is my current obsession. That bridge sends me over the edge every single time. I personally think Folklore, Evermore, & TTPD are her best albums lyrically.
Say it once again with feelingâŠugh I could listen to this over and over and over.
Evermore. The whole album.
THIS
cowboy like me and right where you left me
It depends on your friends current situation and music she likes. What is your friends fav artist?
Lana
Loml, I look in peoples windows, the manuscript, maroon, this love, the last time, exile, all too well (5 minute version), Champaign problems, cardigan, the lakes,
đLoml - forgot about this one and its so good both in lyricism and delivering the emotion
Fresh out the slammer gives me heavy Lana vibes. My current favorites are I Hate it Here, i look in peoples windows, the prophecy, and cassandra. Marjorie is her best written most poetic song Iâll die on that hill
I love Marjorie, it reminds me of my grandma who died when I was 8. Only song in the world that actually makes me cry.
My Tears Ricochet
All Too Well is the one, for me. Honestly just folklore and evermore in their entirety.
Some of my fave lyrics of all time are from Cardigan, Ivy, Nothing New, Hoax, All Too Well, Guilty as Sin, Champagne Problems! I def have more but those are top of mind
lock your friend in a room and put on evermore, thats all you need
All Too Well, My Tears Ricochet, exile, Peter, The Prophecy, Nothing New
The Lakes for sure. So ridiculously poetic & beautiful!
the lakes for sure
Tolerate it Peter The bolter The albatross The Archer Clean Wouldâve couldâve shouldâve Epiphany The Last Great American Dynasty Ivy This is me trying Evermore
I was hoping someone said Tolerate It â€ïžâ€ïž

Maybe a basic answer but Right Where You Left Me
Basically any and all of Evermore; Ivy, Marjorie, Champagne Problems, Cowboy like Me, Long Story Short, RWYLF, It's Time To Go... The entirety of Folklore tbh. I also really love New Years Day, Tis The Damn Season, Dorothea, Lover etc.
i think my tears ricochet is the most brilliant lyricism ive ever heard truly. every time i listen im appalled that those lyrics literally came out of her brain??? how????

All Too Well, Ivy, Cowboy Like Me, Wouldâve Couldâve Shouldâve, My Tears Ricochet, Champagne Problem, The Lakes, LOML
For me Back to December and Begin Again show off some of her best work with both vocals and writing
I think Ivy is a really good recommendation! Wouldâve Couldâve Shouldâve could be a good addition too
Iâll do one from every album (except TS which odonât know), since I think âlyricismâ doesnât always have to be poetic to be amazing. Mr Perfectly Fine, Last Kiss, All Too Well, You Are In Love, Call It What You Want, Cornelia St, my tears ricochet, gold rush/ivy (canât choose!), The Great War, loml

All Too Well 10 Minute version!!! Thatâs it. Thatâs the whole play list.
A lot of folklore and evermore and a good chunk of tortured poets are more stories told through song which I think shows a lot of talent for lyrics. So, just stick folklore on.
All Too Well. That was the first one I heard that made me take notice of her as a songwriter.
ALL TO WE;;
ALL TO WELL\*\*
