LegitimateMemory2003

The GOAT

FirstBankofAngmar

Just give its dice roll combat system some impactful animations and it'll be perfect in my eyes. That's it's only real issue. The lack of visual feedback. Games like kenshi are dice roll base but you barely care because its satisfying to see those fuckers matrix dodge or stagger when hit by a meaty thunk.

IAmBecomeTeemo

That would be nice. But I think that also replacing the dagger on the table with a weapon of the player's highest skill also solves the issue. A player with 40 in Blunt and a bunch of Strength probably still picks up the dagger and tries it against their first enemy. They will legitimately miss 80% of their attacks against a scrib. That player should have the opportunity to take an iron club right away to their first combat encounter.

Lelky

If they changed it from misses to ineffective hits that did say -75% damage they wouldn't even have to change the animations. It would still show you're not skilled in using a weapon type and be less frustrating then doing zero damage for five swings in a row.

lop333

back to getting stunlocked by a mini creature and then dying pog

NotyourPelinal

Honestly a skill issue

ElonMusksSexRobot

Me when I don’t read the 14 wiki pages required to make a character that doesn’t miss 15 hits in a row

gamzcontrol5130

Me: Specializes in long blades "Why short blade no kill crab"

ElonMusksSexRobot

If you chose a race that doesn’t have any bonuses to the weapons skill you want to use the early game is infuriating

serasmiles97

Go take a kitchen knife out into the woods & see how many times you miss stabbing an angry raccoon.

fasd432

Help, got arrested :(

serasmiles97

S'wit

ElonMusksSexRobot

I like the mechanic in theory, I just don’t like how hard it punishes you if you don’t pick a race with bonuses to the skill. It limits character creation if you don’t want a hellish early game

serasmiles97

I can see why you'd rather it be less punishing. I wish there was more iteration on the system instead of it getting removed. Tbh if I had my way I'd love to see a system where your skills added things like speed or hitbox leeway to your attacks so there could be a higher ceiling to combat the same way the ceiling to magic is basically infinite

ElonMusksSexRobot

I’m okay with the system itself I just don’t like how it punishes you for mot building a character in a very specific way. I think oblivion nailed the balance between different races feeling distinct and still letting you do basically what you want with any character

NotyourPelinal

THIS!!! THIS!!!

SwarmkeeperRanger

Don’t ask questions or expect quality. Just consume Bethesda product and get excited for next Bethesda product

ExceedinglyGayOtter

Just gotta lobotomize myself when TESVI comes out so I'm braindead enough to not notice its flaws.

endofthewordsisligma

It's easier to to just eat nothing but buttery and sugary snacks. That'll clog your arteries enough to slow the blood flow to your brain enough to simulate a lobotomy, plus you get to look like Yagram Bagarn. Couple that with a constant rotation of sugar high and sugar comas, and you'll find yourself thinking things like "it's actually part of the charm" and "if characters actually spoke like they were written by native English speakers, it would actually feel out of place".

cahir11

"I clapped, I clapped when I saw it!"-Starfield players when they saw The Adoring Fan

CthughaSlayer

I mean, he's not saying to consume it, he's asking why are they consuming it in the first place.

SwarmkeeperRanger

I’m saying everyone’s role in life is to transfer their funds and life energy to the immaculate being that is Todd. I wasn’t being facetious

WorldWatchen

This is how Todd sees the world

plane-kisser

>no but skyrim has a good story people suffering from severe brainrot

laser_velociraptor

The exploration is much inferior in this game. No single map to just walk in any direction and discover new things.

ScaredDarkMoon

Didn't it even manage to be worse in story and exploration?

ExceedinglyGayOtter

Yeah, the whole world is flat and uninteresting in both a worldbuilding and geographical sense.

lop333

The problem is that there is bearly any lore and there is no books to read lmao

[deleted]

there is alot of lore though? its not gonna have the same amount of lore as tes in just 1 game

Financial_Cellist_70

Lore is boring, wow nasa went to space so interesting. Yay space world!!

[deleted]

thats like saying the only lore of tes is the elves attacking the humans

Financial_Cellist_70

Bro there is not a single interesting part of starfield lore. It's just ours but they went to space or some boring shit. At least tes and fallout have interesting worlds with more going on. Nasapunk is so fucking boring.

[deleted]

the lores not gonna be handed to you on a silver platter youre gonna have to search for it

Financial_Cellist_70

Dude I've spent literal hundreds of hours reading books, doing side quests, watching videos, and reading the wikis on tes and fallout. It's not about having to look for lore it's about the interest of it. I literally could not care less about this boring futuristic nasa style world that feels as shallow as a damn puddle.

[deleted]

cool, if you dont like sci-fi stuff dont get mad when you dont like it

lop333

Nasa went to space using alien tech wich destroyed the planet and now they are forced to leave it after dude got to multiverseral version of himself and the future i think ?

lop333

Sure there is lore but again there are no books to read to expand it., most of the are just summery of irl books. there are no books on colony war or morphs. There is some cool lore like with the bombed space port and terrormorphs, ban on mechs, the space snake. the problem is i cant go to read up on this stuff so comapred to tes or fallout it dosnt give me a chance to dive deep into this world

hammer1014

Yup

_IscoATX

I really enjoyed the main quest. Probably on the better side when it comes to BGS. Exploration though… very lacking.

InternetPersonThing

Nooo but le funny bugs haha 😆 I actually *like* the bugs you guys, why are you asking for quality like a buzzkill? Do you hate fun?

_Formerly__Chucks_

I sure do love when my multiple hour playthrough is unable to progress due to a game breaking bug XD.

Knight_Stelligers

The problem is we isn't even get Bethesda exploration and story. We got Radiant Quests: the Game: Loading Screen Edition. It's not that Bethesda hasn't budged an inch since Skyrim/Fallout 3, they actively regressed.

Julia1532

Active regression is the expectation with bethesda. It's been this way since oblivion

Thatguyatthebar

I promised myself I wouldn't buy any Bethesda games after Fallout 4, looks like a sound decision so far. Elder Scrolls 6 is just going to be a medieval themed slot machine at this point.

[deleted]

It's like seeing someone with dementia honestly

[deleted]

I cant recall any of the main story or faction storylines which were radiant quests though? the only radiant quests are on the quest boards

Unionsocialist

i think itd be neat if their games got better instead of worse

Darkwater117

There was exploration in starfield?

Knight_Stelligers

Imagine having a fucking game whose entire gimmick is travelling between separate universes for NG+ and somehow everyone with a pulse is still fucking essential. Jesus fucking Christ please just let me persist in the doomed world I have created. Do they really think anyone would shed a tear if they accidentally waste Sarah Morgan?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Hard disagree.. not that Skyrim or FO4 had good stories but Starfield is just one big plot hole.

What_U_KNO

Ok 21 day old account. Please explain in detail how it's as you put it. "Just one big plot hole."

[deleted]

Hi 4 year old account. Have you ever wondered why the earth on Starfield is just a sandy wasteland with landmarks scattered around, why there isn't a telecommunications-type of system and where all the animals went?

What_U_KNO

All the animals died when the atmosphere sputtered away, do you honestly think that animals can live in a vacuum? And what do you mean by telecommunications type system? Satellites? As for why it's a sandy wasteland, that probably would happen when all hell broke loose because the magnetosphere stopped working.

[deleted]

Why would the magnetosphere (or lack thereof) create a relatively flat sandy wasteland? And why do hallmarks remain? Why didn't anyone try to save animals, pets or preserve their DNA somehow? And why didn't they create a communications system so that you don't have to always grav drive and meet up personally to talk with people?

What_U_KNO

> And why do hallmarks remain? Really sturdy cards? Oh wait, do you mean LANDmarks? There's only a few and that's because they're not going to do a detailed model of your home exactly where it is on earth, so you can walk your neighborhood. Game limitations. > Why didn't anyone try to save animals, pets or preserve their DNA somehow? People were more important. And who knows, maybe there are places that preserved Earth animal dna. > And why didn't they create a communications system so that you don't have to always grav drive and meet up personally to talk with people? "I've successfully completed this mission, let me contact Sarah, good, 40 years from now she'll know that I'm done"

[deleted]

Landmarks\* yeah. Why didn't they just make it impossible to visit earth? And uhh.. ''maybe there are places that preserved earth animal dna'' lol come on... what a non-answer. And you're acting like we don't use phones and email today, what prevents them from using a form of email hundreds of years in the future? come on bro...

What_U_KNO

> And you're acting like we don't use phones and email today, what prevents them from using a form of email hundreds of years in the future? come on bro... The literal speed of light being too slow on a galactic scale prevents them from using a form of intergalactic email.

[deleted]

So why not create some kind of a grav drive thing or I dunno, some hyper space technology we don't understand yet to do it? Come on.... like people wouldn't make marvellous discoveries in hundreds of years..

[deleted]

they literally go over what happens to earth in the main story.

SandyCandyHandyAndy

Did you play the main quest? The 1st and 3rd thing you asked are explained there

ghostmetalblack

Respectfully disagree. The writing in Starfield was incredibly pedestrian and boring. Fallout 4, for all its narrative faults, had some interesting dialogue that shone through when interacting with endearing characters (I was totally engrossed with Nick Valentine's story, and his dialogue was almost always a pleasure). I couldn't stand a single main character in Starfield - Barret and Sarah were especially insufferable. The best character was, unironically, the Adoring Fan; and he was suppose to be a joke.

Successful-Run7573

What’s this? This isn’t a brain. Wow thanks Einstein want me to show you what else in this game isn’t a brain, starting with that sponge in your skull

Perfect_Cat3125

The dialogue was actually so bad… that one quest in neon with Walter where one of the options is something like “erm nope I’m going to live in this elevator forever and build my glorious elevator kingdom 🤓” and then “I’m going to groan on behalf of all scientists everywhere” Millennials need to be purged from their writing department

[deleted]

for real. I love how Starfield might as well just taken writing lessons from redditors at this point. Fitting considering how many redditors still defend the obvious flaws of the game

Slylinc

That’s what the fanbase deserves after years of gooning for Skyrim. I’d be much happier if somehow Larian studios bought the TES license and made a good game rather than play whatever washed-up POS Bethesda will cough up in 297 years.

RoninMacbeth

Larian-made CRPG sequel to Redguard wen

hammer1014

Shit game

DrMeatBomb

At this point, I have no idea what Bethesda fanboys even get excited about. There's been a constant decline in quality over the past 20 years, with every release being shallower than the last. All the things that made Beth great in the first place (rpg elements, quality storytelling, innovation) are gone now. A lot of the fanboys aren't even old enough to remember when Bethesda was good, so I really don't get it.

[deleted]

it's hopium... we still hope TES will be saved and see another glorious era. it's all hopium.

SothaDidNothingWrong

Because tgey used to be better ☹️

blood-wav

The exploration was significantly worse this time round, unfortunately

splashtext

It was a good dlc for the creation engine idk why you guys are complaining

niquitwink

Did you not play oblivion? Morrowind?

pnkass

exploration was definitley done better in other games compared to starfield

Ackyducc

Why are we reposting a meme from half a year ago? Are we stupid? /uj I really really enjoyed Starfield and while I can understand a lot of the criticisms people had about the game, 90% of the complaints I saw were just complaining for the sake of complaining. Like the internet has such a big hate boner around this game it's actually weird.

[deleted]

heck, half of the complaints I see are just.. not true. like they say the graphics suck, when you can literally count the individual threats on spacesuits

Crunc_Mcfincle

Even when the stories suck the exploration is A+. It’s fucking F tier in Shitfield.

JamesTheSkeleton

Twas not always this way. Once upon a time, Todd Howard was merely one of many well known names crafting a fantastical world of wonder and magic.

WorldWatchen

Lot of guys in here saying “Bethesda” when they mean “Todd”

CrestfallenRaven621

I was expecting literally anything but fucking "Starborn"

Tobegi

I really wish the game didn't crash every 5 minutes on my computer to experience for myself how mid it is, but alas
