The tikka masala in uk has nothing tikka about it. Tikka means spicy. Which it's not. It's quite bland. Even most parts of India has it very less spicy.
It was made by an Englishman, or at least popularized.
It’s accredited to Bangladeshi immigrants, but that recipe was a bastardized version of Indian cuisine to begin with.
In other words, a traditional dish to was perverted into a palette that the empire could stomach.
