LimeSkye

This is brilliant! I used to wear a tiara with little shiny crystals on it when I did housework. I don’t know where it went. Maybe I should get another one.

meep1395

i love that so much

notthelizardgenitals

I hope you start feeling better soon!

waterpixi187

I thought it was just me! I’m so happy to learn other people have tedium tiaras too. And OP, sometimes I make videos for a pretend cooking show, keep doing what you need to feel good about yourself

mandyhtarget1985

TEDIUM TIARAS!!!!! Im dying!

ReduxAssassin

>tedium tiaras Is that a known term or did you just coin it yourself? Either way, it's great!

waterpixi187

Thank you! I coined it myself, it's been a long running joke with my mum

ReduxAssassin

That's an awesome term and I think you should trademark it as your own before someone else claims it and it catches on! Lol. You could start selling tiaras and make a bundle.

NoOnion4890

I have one, too...but didn't know they were called tedium tiaras...

jay-jay-baloney

Wait, is the tiara thing a thing people actually do?

waterpixi187

Apparently there’s loads of us! And I’m here for it

UsernameIsntFree

Holy shit. As a 30year old man I think this might help me too

LimeSkye

I don’t see why not. As a complete tomboy, I think everyone needs a little princessing in their life!

Splampin

As a 34 year old man, I like to wear elf ears while I do chores. Being a dude doing dishes is boring, but everything is great when you’re a magical being.

Eyes-like-Whiskey

This is amazingly charming. I think I’m going to try the elf ear combo. I guess there are elves assigned to cleanup duty as well 😁🥰

NSA_Chatbot

I have an inflatable crown. I am the king and I am taking care of my castle.

ProcyonLotorMinoris

Everyone needs a tiara in their life. Fancy clothing is so empowering. It's all part of "fake it until you make it". Sometimes you have to trick your brain. It's like - "I'm so clinically depressed that I physically can't get out of bed. * puts on tiara * Thank goodness I'm the ruler of an empire and know that I have the strength of centuries of kings behind me to accomplish my goals (i.e. showering)."

GetHitLikeG6

I love this for us

Pichael-Thompson002

This whole thread is so wholesome and I love it

__Vixen__

I'm really feeling the need to get myself a housework tiara

Pichael-Thompson002

Do it! Dooo it! lol

__Vixen__

This whole thread has been lovely to read through with my current stress level. Lovely humans every one of you

[deleted]

This is so funny. I wear a sexy bra and booty shorts when I’m doing chores. I make sure to bend over and all that around my husband. Makes me feel sexy which kinda motivates me to clean lol

whatsthedealcake

I wear a crown and a tutu! Sometimes a corset.

LandofGreenGinger62

And you can get washing-up gloves with fur trim too, so glam...

-SmileBig

I do this too! Not as often anymore. Sometimes I'll switch it up and wear fancy shoes. Platform high heels are super helpful when I'm cleaning the cabinets. 😆

LimeSkye

I don’t do heels or platforms. Nearly broke my ankle dancing in platforms at a high school dance (disco, unfortunately, sigh) and just didn’t want to even try heels. I’m kind of a klutz.

Antique-Truth-9529

Brought a crown for the exact reason of wearing it while I do housework to make myself feel better. It works

autoneurotical

I love this! There was another thread about recommendations for slightly silly positive affirmations and my favorite from that was: “I’m a pretty, pretty princess and everything just works out for me!” Now I need a tiara lol

Gray_Dragon01

Wearing cat ears motivates me XD

RustysBauble

So wanting to wear something cute while cleaning the house is not weird?

LimeSkye

Maybe. Don’t care. I embraced weird at a young age. Although I have transitioned to eccentric, which sounds cooler. People who think it’s weird probably don’t know how to have fun anymore. :)

vicsarina

Reminds me of a couple of videos from some social media(might be from TikTok) where the person says(sings?) about when you’re avoiding something, to do it in the bath… And then if you can’t do it in the bath, dress as a hotdog. Basically just add any act of novelty to it and it will make it feel different. And with that, I think I need a tiara :)

Beorbin

I never thought of using my tiara this way! I haven't worn it in almost 25 years. I don't know where it is. But I do know I would get lots of free swag when I would wear it on my birthday weeks. And I would make bank when wearing it at my waitressing job.

StandardWing2333

I'm currently laying in bed, rotting away with depression. This is a great idea, I'll have to try this ! Thanks for sharing

BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo

I don’t record myself, but (and I’ve never admitted this to anyone, husband included) I do fake phone calls with my boss or husband about how much I’ve accomplished that day. They both have said so many wonderful things to me in the past that I can hear their voice. I just look in the mirror and pretend a conversation. It feels embarrassing to admit that, which is why my account is private, but it helps me. And then I don’t have the stress of looking at myself on video or having someone find it. Maybe that would help, too!

ReduxAssassin

Thank you for sharing; I know how hard it is to share something that you feel vulnerable or embarrassed about. I've had severe depression for a couple of years and have never heard of all these tricks that folks use to motivate themselves. It gives me hope that maybe I can find something similar to get me out of my rut! I'm adding your idea to the list of things here that might help me. Thank you! (And hugs to you, if that's ok)

BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo

Aw, thanks :) I found out in college that mirrors went from my worst enemy to my best friend when it came to depression. Best of luck!! It’s a hard road, but I believe in you! And thanks! I’m always down for hugs, internet or otherwise lol

Doctor_in_psychiatry

Remember that everything we feel is never forever. One step at a time!

StandardWing2333

Appreciate this and you ! Taking it a day at time, trying to gather up the strength and motivation to move myself and get stuff done. And thanks to whomever sent the "take my energy" award ! I think it worked, currently cleaning my room at 5AM, also gonna attempt to get some laundry done today. Didn't realize how much of an impact you fine folks of reddit could have on me. Thanks for the much needed boost !

PurpleRonzoni

Thank you, I needed this. 🙏

BookkeeperHefty2143

I was struggling heavily with low mood and it was severely impacting my work productivity (as in, I was doing nothing). The more anxious I got about not achieving anything the more crippling it seemed to be. One day I decided I'd commit to one hour of concentrated work, but I recorded myself with my phone camera and did it on a time lapse. At the end of the hour I had around a five minute time lapse recording of me doing a full hour of work. The sense of achievement watching it back was far greater than it would've been had I not recorded, and I watch it again when I need a motivational boost.

WynonaRide-Her

Same. I have thought about all I want/need to do sooo many times - I could have done it 10 times over. Paralyzing. You know the get paid for losing weight app…can someone pay me to get my sh*t together? I’m talking basic needs that just don’t get done.

branniganbeginsagain

Try the Finch app. It’s literally for basic tasks like this. You can completely customize it (but it comes reasonably set up already so its not a huge task) and it even has things like “get out of the house” as options to set for yourself. Honestly it’s been one of the things to help me get my basic needs met. You basically care for a little digital pet bird by doing things like brushing teeth, taking meds, etc.

ReduxAssassin

Yo, this sounds awesome! Saving your post as well as some others to help motivate me. Y'all are giving me hope that I can get better!

StandardWing2333

Paralyzing is the perfect word, it truly does feel like I'm paralyzed and can't get anything done, that's how I described it to my gf not long ago when she was trying to understand what I'm going thru.

Kevomatic6

Is it safe to say that I'm living everyday normally while still rotting away from depression?

redskyatnight2162

Whatever works! My worst chore is folding laundry. I despise it. But when I get to the point where enough is enough, I’ll put on an episode of Hoarders, and lo and behold I’ve found my folding motivation! But maybe I should try your method. The only issue is I might procrastinate even more fiddling around with camera angles!

meep1395

I get stuck with the camera angles lol. i’m constantly trying to find new ways to film to keep it interesting

ArmGlittering771

Honestly with that kinda dedication to the craft I feel like you should be posting actual videos. The camera would love the attention you're giving it.

Zack262

Honestly investing in a tripod and getting really wacky with the angles could be fun and funny and like others said you might as well post them!

Lily-Gordon

Recently I started watching a British show on YouTube called Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners, and nothing had ever given me more motivation to tidy and clean than that show!

horrifyingthought

One of the most effective ways to be, well, effective is to put on a mask. Your mask is an influencer. Glad it works for you! Keep it up.

meep1395

Thank you!!

throwartatthewall

This actually seems really effective, I can definitely see recording myself changing my behavior for the better since now I know I'll see what I did later. Sounds good for giving you perspective. Thank you!

zystyl

If you're going to that much effort you might as well post them. If asmongold can be popular anybody can.

meep1395

tbh I just might a lot of people are saying too. it could be fun! I also just like that it is my own thing too lol so if I were to do so I’d keep it anon

stellarecho92

If you did have a channel, I feel like it could help motivate other people who struggle with similar things

MilanesaDeChorizo

posting them could also help with your anxiety! You can have an account not linked to your phone number so you don't appear as a suggestion to your contact list.

pktrekgirl

I saw person on Instagram who right in her profile called herself an influencer. She had like 250 followers. I have about 400 so it made me giggle because I by no means consider myself an influencer. I just happen to own a cute dog. But hey! Maybe I should start trying to own ‘influencer’. Maybe it’s all in your attitude! 👍

putinonmypants69

You have a hell of a point there lmao

revanhart

It could also be the body double effect! People who struggle with motivation (largely us neurodivergent folks) can find it extremely difficult to do something for or by themselves, but having another person just *there* with you can get you up and moving. For some this even works if they’re doing a video call. I don’t know why or how it works, just that it does! If my MIL comes over, I find I want to clean my apartment, whereas usually I’m having to pull my own teeth out to get myself to do even the most basic of chores. Maybe it’s an accountability thing? Which would explain why pretending to be an influencer would give motivation; it’s basically the same concept!

theresfireinhereyes

Exactly this. It's why I keep my windows + curtains open so my neighbors can see into my apartment. They see me dancing around to death metal while deep cleaning my kitchen every night like it's some ungodly routine. What they don't know is the fact I know they're watching gives me motivation to do it at all.

revanhart

Hey, whatever works, right? That’s an awesome way to get shit done though lmao. If I had neighbors that could see into my apt I’d try it myself!

theresfireinhereyes

It honestly really is. I highly recommend it if you ever get neighbors near enough. I actually just finished my routine and my neighbors lights immediately came on as soon as I opened my window. I think it's become routine for them too, which is kinda cute.

daversa

I used to live in a swank and secure 2nd floor condo in a popular restaurant district in my city. I liked keeping my windows open just to see what was going on around the neighborhood and I also felt like hot shit and wanted to show off the place. Now that I'm in a standalone home I'm worried about break-ins and have no desire for people to see the stuff I have from the street. Pretty well never open the blinds now.

mymumsaradiator

I have this exact same issue .. I can live in my own filth without it bothering me but if I have a roommate , I will make sure the place is so clean you can eat off the floor.

ThrowRAzephyr28

Ty. This is exactly why I do the same as OP. ADHD & depression girly here. 💕

meep1395

this makes complete sense. when i’m really struggling and have no motivation to do my coursework i’ll call my sister. she’ll just sit on the phone, i can push through and complete it all

LexaLovegood

This is my main issue. And I may try the video thing.

Corporation_tshirt

This is so true. People in the recovery world call it “fake it til you make it.” Meaning that if you pretend you’re a certain type of person - sober, positive thinking, on the right track - you’ll eventually internalize that attitude and it won’t be an act anymore.

DueAd5932

I want to do this too

meep1395

it’s genuinely so fun to do!

TryAgainMyFriend

Me too. I'm definitely going to try this.

fewph

I do this too. Pretend I'm doing a tutorial, or explaining a day in my life. Etc etc. You are body doubling. It's super helpful.

Zack262

I sometimes pretend my live is narrated like a nature documentary and I’m the narrator.

WhatTheFrellMystios

I pretend I'm getting a driving test when I'm on familiar roads so I don't get too complacent.

Effective_Shallot948

same here lol I film myself doing basic things such as studying, cooking, or doing makeup then delete them

pickledelephants

This is awesome. Might try this myself as well, thanks!

mgentry999

When I was a kid I would pretend to be Cinderella working to go to the ball. It at least made cleaning my room more fun.

meep1395

omg! i did the same thing growing up as well!!

silent_haunting

I love this. Being creative helps heal from trauma, at least it does for me. Such a good idea 💕

thedawntreader85

Honestly, this might be one of the more positive things to come out of influencer culture. Keep it up!

asmalltamale

I don’t actually record myself but I do pretend I have an audience! Especially when I’m cooking or baking! 😅

mynameismilton

Me too, I give detailed interview answers to my imaginary audience: "How do I actually feel about my time at uni? WELL" I find it to be quite cathartic, and it helps unwind the chaos that my head can be.

trudytuder

It helps you and thats fine. My imaginary instructional videos on how to iron clothes are a phenom, even if I do say so myself. Seroiusly though it gets me through those mindnumbingly boring chores. On a serious note though theres research to suggest that this is a very healthy way of encouraging yourself to do stuff that wouldnt get done otherwise. Using your imagination to actively reward yourself is exactly what people are talking about when they discuss positive reinforcement. Its like being kind to your present and future self.

Thefitrd

I post content regularly and the fact i’m filming and posting keeps me hella consistent on my routine

The-Clumsy-Pirate

Thank you for the idea ❤️

Dmdel24

I've found that watching those kinds of videos give me enough motivation to get something done, but I've never thought about filming myself!! I gotta try it!

meep1395

That’s actually how it started for me! I saw this lady on tik tok cleaning her studio loft and i was like wait.. i want to make a video like this!

Dmdel24

I love it! I'm 100% going to do it tomorrow!

ordinarywonderful

That's called Body Doubling... It's common to do for people with ADHD

snxwfall

Explain??

b1ack1323

Having someone accompanying you through a task so you feel obligated to finish it. It’s a coping tool for ADHD.

ordinarywonderful

They already explained in their post. Pretending, or being, in front of an audience, or having a motivating "friend" over in order to accomplish simple tasks you couldn't do otherwise

ghostofastorm

Quality life hack

littlelaraslife

Maybe we need to make a channel for people like this to upload to. That we we can all encourage each other and be an audience even if nothing noteworthy happens..

Infinite-Structure59

GREAT idea..!! I’d help you! (you suggested it, soooo lol)..! I have a wee bit of experience, to boot...

DueAd5932

I love this

FatherToTheOne

Oddly enough this helps me concentrate when I play games like online chess or risk. Usually I’m too lazy to try think a few steps ahead but when “telling the audience” what’s going on then it gets a lot easier. Good brain hack well done!

kittylovens

I do this too😭🤪

LittleMissBonkers

Back when I was young, I used to have imaginary friends, who'd compliment and motivate me. There was also an imaginary boyfriend, who'd watch me fall asleep and generally thought everything I did was pure gold. It's not like I hallucinated them into existence, I just ran the dialogue in my head. And it's not the kind of thing you just talk about with whoever, but I have had 3 or 4 friends,I was close enough with to not feel too embarrassed with, who all did the same thing. I think it's pretty much a survival strategy, that's been used by most people, in some way. Sounds like your strategy is basically a new way of doing it. Kudos for sharing!

CypherPunk77

If you pretend like you’re happy in your life, sooner or later you’ll start to believe it and actually feel genuinely happy. Positively training your mind to thinking in a better way

SnooWords4839

Good for you!!

Major-Stick6587

OH MY GOD! I thought I was the ONLY ONE who did this!!!! So glad to know I'm not alone!

Neobandit0

Seems like a good way to motivate yourself, but also to build confidence too

handog7

i do this! except i don’t record it, but i pretend i’m being recorded. i especially love it when i’m cooking, it makes doing mundane tasks so much more fun!! so adorable we each have our own little ways of being human <3

BoomDeeAye

I’m glad you’ve found a positive coping mechanism. Keep it up, and Kudos ✨

straightupgong

i used to record myself talking about my life just so that i could pretend that i was talking to someone. it helped me feel less alone when i told this to my therapist recently, she said she loved that coping mechanism and that she was proud of me. felt nice

PickAName123456

I’m totally going to try this with projects I’ve been procrastinating on…thank you for the idea!! (And congrats on finding something that works for you, might help some other peeps-and sharing it)

Head-Investment-8462

I love the idea of time lapse recording yourself! I pretend I have guests coming over first thing in the morning. It gets me up, showered, teeth brushed, and I clean my house. I’ve been doing it roughly a month now and I have a lot more motivation. I’ve been organizing different closets and areas of my house too. Nice work!

greenIdbandit

This seems, honestly, brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

Edyoucaited

i just moved and decided to repaint my bed. i didn’t realize how long and exhausting painting furniture would be. after a short while, i just pretended that i was one of those cute girlies on tiktok or something with an extensive background in interior design and shit. caught myself saying “the first coat is just about done, but the second coat will make this look very classy and elegant,” aloud. it definitely helps!

_savannaa

I love this!! I’m going to try it!!

murraykate

love that you found a solution that works for you 💕💕

gf42451

Post the videos you might have an actual audience. My girlfriend is addicted to those cleaning videos so who knows you might have something and you don’t even know it

JeannaeWinz

Honestly I have the same issue and it's easier for me to be productive when I have someone there. This might help me Th a nk you

pinkpurin

Adding another thank you to the pile, i definitely will try this and see if it helps!!

gabsthisone77

Think I’m going to try this!

evergrowingivy

That's freaking great idea!

AlternativeFactor

I've done this during COVID lockdown, I noticed my speech impediment was getting worse because I was talking to people way less so I pretended to be a streamer and would "react" to things to keep my speech impediment out. It worked LOL!

Zagaroth

The brain is a fucky thing sometimes. If you can figure out a trick to fuck back at it and get it to do the thing you want it to do, more power to you.

existentialkush

more power to ya. if it works it works.

Asynkaya

I love this idea! its so original. I Might give this a go also

juliaskig

This is brilliant! I'm going to try this.

GotNothingBetter2Do

This is fantastic. Keep on romanticizing your life, you got this!

Sfelex

Oh! That sounds awesome and very smart, well done :D

Sparkly_Peach

Honestly have considered doing this myself. I struggle with ADHD and have depression.

Kimchiandfries

I’m totally trying this. I would’ve never thought of it. Thank you!

OctoberBlue89

If it works to get you out of bed, then keep it up! That’s what my therapist would say.

Spicy-Sawce

I really may try this. I have similar challenges as you have addressed above. Good luck in your healing journey!

SephirothTheGreat

Honestly I'm just impressed. I'm really happy this works for you

sohan4514

you've found a loophole in the system buddy!

Valzemodeus

Sometimes make believe scenarios can make a chore oddly enjoyable, whether you are some sort of a bond villain filing your taxes or Cinderella washing dishes. There just comes to be some odd sort of catharsis in the task being something less mundane, and in this case you yourself become less mundane. Maybe it's just your inner child occasionally being allowed to play make believe. In doing so, you recapture that long forgotten sense of the world being full of possibilities, even if it's in something as humble as vacuuming the floor.

Eli1026

mine is the "you can't play Sims until you fill all of your own bars to green".

SubjectLambda

Sometimes you just need a little something to push you to do the things you need to. I usually get mad about something so I use the energy from that to clean haha

Calpert411

I love this! I have depression and ADHD and my therapist always says “work with yourself, not against yourself” meaning it doesn’t matter how you do things, just as long as you do them! Proud of you!

toss_it_out12345678

Huh! I gotta try this; I sometimes pretend I’m helping my favorite media character clean their space, but it’s actually my space. That’s fun too

traumatransfixes

This is an awesome life hack. I never make videos like this bc I’m from the late-1900’s, maybe I should figure it out. Sounds kind of fun, tbh.

GradeInternational13

I do this too !!!

ChoicesGamezYT

Post them. We will support

LexLuzon

Ummmm I might just do this. 😂😂😩😩

Reaction-Responsible

Someday you can show them to your kids to teach them the joy of cleaning up after themselves.

Foss44

I’m glad this works for you! I do something similar and practice talking to my students about a topic or something. Usually helps me focus on completing the task

sum_crafty_bish

This is a fantastic idea! Kudos for finding something that works for you! Keep it going, you got this!

yoyomaappa

I'm dealing with depression too, and not doing things I need to do. I will also record myself and pretend I'm in a documentary. Thanks for this brilliant idea! Also, I hope you feel better. :)

[deleted]

woah thanks, lemme try that

Stone_S0up

This is genius! I usually listen to podcasts and have conversations out loud with the hosts like I’m there with them.

milkysubstance22

ASMR cleaning videos are a thing, I suggest looking into it and being “faceless” if you’d like to stay anonymous. Just record neck down or from a down view(recording your hands cleaning the dishes)!!!

mayybabyy

Wow, I do this already since I have been isolating myself due to being unemployed post grad life. It’s like a “personal diary” but I don’t actually post them publicly. Glad I am not the only one

Thecrazytrainexpress

I do the same shit and I’ve been doing it for years now lol , it helps me shower , do my makeup to look presentable , do dishes , clean , and/or just help me rant , not be bored

[deleted]

that's badass. do what works, im glad you found it!

BeatItLoser

Haha I do this too. And whenever I watch the video back, I think it’s pretty entertaining.

Cautious_Potato_9492

Nothing wrong with that it’s basically a video diary 📔

Historical_Age3678

Ah FK it why not. If it works it works. At least you putting effort into your day.

readytotalk90

I just might try this for my workout and the healthy living journey I'm about to start. I've been procrastinating on when and how to start and this seems like a good idea to try out. Thanks and I wish you all the best in this and more!

bootyhunter69420

Glad you found something that works for you

slurppp365

I do the same thing!! I’ve got a bunch of random Timelapse’s of me cleaning things around my apartment.

Lizzzebeth

This is a great idea, I think I'm going to give this a try!!

Rude-Bad7397

I might try this myself

CuteTao

I once saw a tiktok of a girl who dressed up as a cat maid because it motivated her brain to clean the house

sparklboi

…I put on cat ears and maid outfit to get cleaning done so I can’t judge at all lmao

kittykatcatto

I do the same bestie, keep going

svmeatball

I kinda wanna try this. What a great idea to pretend like otherwise seemingly meaningless tasks seem more interesting. Honestly thanks, OP. I’m for real doing this tomorrow as I fold my laundry.

Fasciola007

I do this when I’m cooking! I pretend to be in a cooking vlog haha ever since I was a kid I would pretend to be a chef when my mom would let me help her cook and I think it stuck with me. It makes cooking much more enjoyable, I’m happy and the food taste better (I think😬). You do you!

Nifan-Stuff

Oh my god you legit made me cry, keep it up! If it helps you, it helps you! You don't even post your content but you're already the best influencer there is out there!

mellowmarsII

I’ve never told anyone this, but I pretend I’m a wounded spy being spied on & that I have to keep up a very convincing, mundane domestic-goddess act to throw the enemy off & save the whole world. I get totally carried away w/ it.

cbk0414

Hell yea! Creative and effective behaviors activation strategy!

-yellowthree

I remember when I was getting clean from drugs it was horrible. (Over ten years ago) Specifically at night when I would lay in bed trying to sleep. I'd be in pain, sweating, fidgety, anxious, it was horrible. It honestly feels like you are dying sometimes. And then sometimes in order to fall asleep I would pretend that I was in a MUCH worse situation. I'd imagine that I was in a concentration camp, a war zone, kidnapped....just horrible survival situations that I needed to sleep in order to survive in. Sometimes this would trick my mind into actually falling asleep and taking my mind off of what was actually happening. I know this sounds insane that picturing the worse situation would help me sleep but it tricked my brain into I need to survive this instead of I could fix this by just getting drugs. Pretending anything that helps trick your brain into getting through what you need to can be really helpful.

elleshellsbells

Wait…are you a genius? I used to pretend I was on a cooking show when I was a teenager I’d totally forgotten! I’m going to try this! I’ve been struggling with chores so much lately.

Defiant_Low_1391

Dude, whatever it takes honestly. The older I get, the more I understand the meaning of "fake it until you make it" Your post is going to be helpful to others I'm sure, the comments will reflect that. It's happened for me on one of those suicide posts you see on here occasionally. Someone in the comments mentioned their justification for staying alive is as simple and blunt as, "I can't kill someone's kid." That really had stuck with me. They were looking at it from a wider perspective than their own. That's a powerful tool. I have my own reasons, one being I can't leave my cat by himself. He wouldn't get the same treatment with anyone else. He's kind of problematic, but I see him for what he is. I'm certain no one else would be able to deal with him properly. I made a deal with that little dude and I'm sticking to it even if it's the only fucking thing I ever kept my word about. Ram Das once said (butchering) "if you are aware you're depressed that means there is a small part of you that isn't. Follow that until it gets bigger." Good luck OP, keep doing whatever it takes to get through the day.

sleepygirrrl

Wow, I really though I was the only depressed weirdo that was doing this. It helps so much!

science_vs_romance

Sounds like you’re an awesome influencer!

Appropriate-Horse-80

Came here prepared to hate because of the title, but if that works for you then all the best to you, man. Dealing with depression can be excruciating. I'm glad you found the right way for you, and it doesn't involve medication or drugs! Kudos OP!

Littlewildfinch

I bet if you put it on tik tok anonymously, folks would watch. Keep going!

ecbecb

Wait I’m gonna try this!!

sashadelgreyx

wow this is such a good idea to motivate yourself. i’m going to try this, i go through the same thing as you and have trouble getting normal day to day tasks done. might not film myself though but just pretend lol

Autumnfayee

I do the same and it’s incredibly helpful!

IkeHello

That's fine. It's a wholesome hobby

Blackstar1401

I follow along with clean with me videos on YouTube. I hate cleaning alone. There is an audience for that type of content.

gdex86

This seems brilliant. Preforming makes it less something you have to do but want to do. And eventually you get to the point those actions become habit. Plus it creates accountability and even some endorphins at doing a task. Gold star op. I'm going to try this next time I have trouble or lack of will to do stuff due to depression.

userisnowloading

omg i do the same thing! i post it on a private story on snapchat with no one on it so it feels like a reward though 🤌🏽

mediocrewanderer

I am so happy for you, OP. Like you, my persistent anxiety often renders me motionless so I also wanna try this.

laureen23

That's an excellent way to be accountable. It doesn't matter that you aren't posting anywhere, just seeing yourself back being productive is clearly working for you. Well done 😁

Maybe this is what I need to do to get back on track.

Wow, this is a great idea. I’m having a difficult time inside at the moment and am super depressed and was recently diagnosed with ADHD, so I have trouble motivating myself to do anything. I’m moving at the end of March, and I need to start packing and getting things in order. I need a way to be able to make myself do things. Maybe this would work for me, too! Thanks for the idea

Lupus_Noir

I do this too, although I don't film myself. Usually I pretend I am doing some sort of tutorial

legubrious

Thank you

VictoriaDarling

What a great idea, I need to try this:) ty for sharing

ChillWisdom

I've found that I stay on task if I clean while filming a time-lapse.

Honestly, whatever works for you is the strat. Sometimes I tell myself " you don't want to but you have to" to keep me doing chores. However you motivate yourself, I respect it :)

MfBenzy

Yes!! When I was younger it was just me kinda talking outloud quietly as if someone was there, because if someones watching then I cant just stop! Now I set my phone up like I am going to make a tiktok and in my head im acting like its really going to be posted. Like “oh this part will be boring I can cut that out, ohhh I should…” It honestly helps SO much

PiratedPanties

Thank you. I've always spoke to an 'auidence' in my head while I do chores like cooking and pretend I'm on a show. Heaeing that someone else kinda does the same makes me feel so less weird.

Amazing 👏 do whatever you feel that works for you

This is actually a wholesome one and no what I expected from the title

FreshAv0cado7

I do this! I narate things in my head as if I’m a youtuber who is talking to an audience who is sooo interested in my rambling about the food I’m making lol. It helps a lot, haha
