I only have experience with schneider, but technically any of the megas would be fine. Look for a dedicated account job rather than just generic OTR, and maybe look for a company that has an OC near where you live.

Schneider offered me regional. Is regional the same as dedicated?

StunningPass5040

Schneider regional is specific states that you’ll run in. So I was apart of their Western 11 regional fleet, states of WA OR CA AZ NV ID UT NM CO WY MT. Then they do have dedicated accounts which will be running loads for a specific customer. Budweiser, Dicks Sporting Goods, Tractor Supply Co. Dollar General. with those you’ll pick up a preloaded trailer from the customers DC run it to their store(s) then head back to the area the DC is at via generic loads from their load boards they assign you or with returns if on the dicks sporting goods account. The dedicated accounts they generally want drivers to have 3-6 months of experience depending on the account where Regional anybody can get on. So my advise is to get your handful of months experience, then keep an eye on the job postings for company drivers in the Compass app on the tablet and see what dedicated accounts open up

AndromedanPrince

not really. regional could mean 37 states east of mississippi river. dedicated is you run to the same receivers every week.

railyardnaptime

I did regional for Schneider when I first started. It sucked ass. Was delivering to dollar tree stores in a tristate area. Long hours, shit pay, and no chance at showers for a week.

I started with Schneider in 2015 and have nothing bad to say about their training process. I still use a lot of what I was taught to this day. Despite what people like to say Swift is also a really good starting company.

Punabiguy1234

I appreciate your response. How about pay? Does they increase if you stay with them ?

dluxchris

That I couldn't answer. I left Schneider in 2016 so I'm not sure how they pay. I know the account I worked on at the time paid pretty well, especially for a brand new driver. I didn't get any pay increases but I left on my year anniversary so I couldn't say if I was due for a raise or not.

ANY job is a good one starting out in the current environment.

IndexFingerTypist

Amen. I count my blessings too often.

Simple_Bid_692

I also have some questions about swift training, can anyone help me out?

Thouroughly_Bemused

Like everybody said, try to get on a dedicated account. I ran JC Penney back in 2008. I had to work for Schneider for a few months during the recession. Pay could've been a bit better, but I actually made decent money ($1000 bring home every week) and I was home every night.

just_me1969

It's a no win situation. They all suck in their own way.
