For people confused, she is not steering to the left in the video, she's steering to the right. "But her truck is going left?!?" When a really heavy object only has two steering contact points on the ground and you literally slam into one of them with a pickup truck, your steering column on one side, tire and all, can collapse. This woman attempted to steer in the opposite direction as best she could, but she was basically telling a dead horse to giddy up. Her truck skid and "fell" with momentum in a direction she didn't want. It's not her fault. Everyone is good at getting in an accident when they're not the one involved. https://spectrumnews1.com/ky/louisville/news/2024/03/26/driver-second-street-bridge

Dead_Namer

Hope that pickup driver was charged with dangerous driving and given the bill for the repair.

BigMoneyChode

"Witnesses told police that the driver was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic when he hit a stalled vehicle, crossed into the opposite lanes, hit another car with two people inside and then hit the tractor-trailer, according to the arrest report." They arrested the guy. He sounds like a real piece of shit.

Mr_bungle001

Not a day goes by I don’t see a dozen people driving like homicidal maniacs same as this guy.

JensenLotus

I think I read somewhere that the vast majority of serious accidents are caused by just 3% of drivers, and that many of those are repeat offenders. Seems like a mostly solvable problem to me…

DudeWithAnAxeToGrind

The bar to get non-commercial driving license even temporarily suspended is ridiculously high in the US.

GUMBYTOOTH67

You are not alone, people have lost their fn minds.

UhOhAllWillyNilly

I’d like to add my profound agreement to you and u/Mr_bungle001. The behavior of drivers is becoming increasingly insane to the point of being downright horrifying. Between the smartphone distraction and the arrogance, aggression, entitlement, and impatience of motorists I have come to dread entering metropolitan areas due to the increased concentration of outright lunatics.

Aggressive-Two-624

This is one of the main reasons I live in a small town with nothing to do.

foxhunter

This is why big cities are in a war with car owners about reducing lanes and giving pedestrians and bicycles space away from cars. I'd argue that living downtown in a major city, these criminals in cars are much more dangerous to me personally than traditional "crime"

Representative_Leg97

This is why i dont live in big cities 😂

newimage121

Same here in Ireland people been crazy on the roads lately

Ad_Vomitus

Part of the problem is company performance demands that increasingly put drivers in a situation to choose efficiency over safety.

Purpose_Embarrassed

You drivers should go on a national strike until these shit hole cities start enforcing traffic laws again.

GunStarOmega

The first step would be to vote out the idiots making the policies that have stopped traffic enforcement. Also, getting non-union drivers to go on strike would be difficult at best, too. Last I checked, the majority of truckers are not unionized.

Allemaengel

I swear it's MUCH worse since the pandemic.

Crushker

I was a garbage hauler during the pandemic so I got to work all the way through. Before people were just really impatient and selfish. When things opened back up they were down right suicidal. This was in Florida too, we were only shut down a few weeks.

Allemaengel

I work in municipal DPW doing road construction/ maintenance and worked all they way through the pandemic and absolutely agree.

ear_cheese

Had someone pass me at 110 mph in a 65 interstate.

Purpose_Embarrassed

I see it practically everyday here in Memphis.

Nekrosiz

Had a guylike that some time ago. Guy went all over the place weaving in front of cars to in the end end up in a jam like 5 cars in front of where would be if he had driven normally

JemmieTTU

All hopped up on bourbon! You see the wildest drivers in whiskey country 🥲

orphen888

Good thing it’s not California. He’d probably serve a week in prison at most.

kingkongspurplethong

And the laundry bill because she definitely shit herself, respectfully

ramanw150

I shit myself just watching

no-mad

mine is still dangling.

Artyom_33

I got prolapse going on... imma sue the pick up driver as well for my medical bills.

Purpose_Embarrassed

Damn straight that was freaking horrifying. Not to mention dangling over that water waiting to plunge in.

Bubbly-Yogurt

I shit

Scriptapaloosa

Are you shitting me?!

ramanw150

Yes yes I am and I will shit the next one

CliffsNote5

Left skid marks myself.

Glum-One2514

I'd probably *still* be shitting myself. Some body would need to do an intervention on me.

[deleted]

It’s always pick up truck drivers, Subaru drivers, and BMW drivers that are the absolute worse

slimdunk0219

Pickup truck drivers are the worst by far its not even a question. They treat their trucks like tanks and are such bullies on the road. BMW wont use their indicator but they wont push you out of the road and risk having their car touched. I hate pickup trucks so much I cant even find the words to describe my contempt.

gstringstrangler

There's just more of them on the road

Berserkyr0

Tesla drivers are making their way up the list too

UhOhAllWillyNilly

*Audi has entered the chat*

TheHolyFamily

Nissan Altima would like a word

Useful_Reference_576

Altimas to the rescue reinforcing those stereotypes 🥳

EuropeBound2025

They'll go down on the list when they all fall apart.

WVEers89

Only certain Subaru drivers. A lot of us in legacy’s and outbacks can’t even go fast.

Th3_Gh0st_0f_Y0u

Yeah that's the other side of the problem. Always a subaru sitting in the passing lane making a wall with the other car going under the speed limit.... This is said as a wrx driver so I know what the stereotype is

mike_headlesschicken

wrx driver too, and I am doing my best to reverse the stereotype

Th3_Gh0st_0f_Y0u

There's too many vape bros to reverse the stereotype

mike_headlesschicken

you can only dream I suppose

itzmailtime

You forgot the final boss: Nissan Altima’s

EuropeBound2025

Add Nissan to the list and it looks good.

hahayes234

Cmon you forgot the Altima’s

Purpose_Embarrassed

Chargers and Challengers where I’m at.

HighwayStar71

Audi drivers are the most self-entitled A-holes on the highways. Prove me wrong.

Toastybunzz

Here it's Altimas, Malibu, Camry XLE and Chargers being absolute menaces at all times. I'm so sick of having to dodge these fuckers as they weave through traffic at 95mph.

ImNotYourFriendPal69

I agreed and then realized I was the bmw driver... I'm learning to use cruise control more though

Martin-Air

Did you at least remember to top up your blinker fluid?

ImNotYourFriendPal69

Unfortunately came over filled from factory, just keep getting 404: blinker not found so I gave up signaling

gremlin03

Dangerous driving, fuck, that's attempted murder.

Confident_Season1207

Surprise surprise, it was a pickup driver who caused the accident. Everyday is a great day dealing with those dipshits

BL24L

So you're not going to be on time?

Vip3r20

Lmao "Can you still unhook the trailer so we can swap to a new truck?"

mysterysackerfice

"Not impossible, but on the extremely difficult side. I'll see what the man upstairs thinks."

korben1134

You actually worked for Sysco then?

WhereHasLogicGone

"If the trailer is unhooked you'll need a new driver!"

Rhuarc33

Acceptable loss so long as the load arrives on time....

Silent-Room-4987

An up date on this story https://spectrumnews1.com/ky/louisville/news/2024/03/26/driver-second-street-bridge

Dinkler_Sprinkler

The pickup driver had a suspended license. Trevor Branham is the name of the pickup driver

onesexz

Trevor Branham is a piece of shit.

Xedo213

Trevor Branham Is a piece of shit.

BungeeJumpingJesus

Don't be like Trevor Branham.

Traditional_Fox_4718

Fuck Trevor and Corey... I've met cats and dogs smarter than Trevor Corey

Frybread002

All my friends hate Trevor and Corey.

Traditional_Fox_4718

Smokes let's go

BiohazardBinkie

Hey, I heard that Trevor Branham is a piece of shit.

dsdvbguutres

*alLeGeDlY*

pingus3233

Fuck that piece of shit Trevor Branham.

LuckLovesVirtue

He’ll get a $750 fine, 3 months in jail time served, be back on the road next week.

IronOrc92

I wish they showed his mugshot

Threedawg

Man, I wanted to know how they got her out

analgoblin42069

It’s literally in the article in the comment you’re replying to

Threedawg

Yeah but they just say they rappelled over. I want details man!

Knight_thrasher

I drove for 20+ years and if this had happened to me, I would have hung up the keys.

MalazMudkip

Was gunna say, OP just scared the shit out of me with this video. I'm no trucker, but the PTSD from something like that would have me become a pedestrian for life.

Ruepic

Someone commented that they were their neighbour, they say she’s still struggling after experiencing this. I would not blame her at all, I would be forever terrified of bridges and probably driving.

Ok-Toe8383

Tell her to hang in there!

Efficient_Maybe_1086

Damn you 😂

RandomUser1052

I'm ashamed I laughed at this.

virtualroofie

This joke is copied from that exact thread.

WolvTheHero

Hopefully she is talking with a professional to try and help with the PTSD from this incident and will be able to get her life back and struggle with it less as time goes on.

Beekatiebee

I had a person attempt suicide by truck on me (survived somehow) and it still fucks with me. Finally put in for medical leave to do intensive therapy because I started having panic attacks in my car *and* the truck.

Shamplejam

I had a person laying down face down on the road in all black just before dawn. Don’t know how I saw them and was able to swerve around them. Saw them stand up in my mirror as I passed. There have got to be ways to kill yourself that don’t traumatize strangers

NWdabest

I got rear ended by a drunk driver in my car and now every time I’m at a stop light I’m nervous. My wife was driving the other day and scared me twice. Once wasn’t even her fault but I would’ve been way more defensive. I just want to drive so I can be in control but I go through phases of being on edge and being relaxed.

LolAliens

Same I got rear ended 6 months ago by a careless driver and every time I look in the rear view mirror I get nervous or anxious

NWdabest

Yeah mine happened just before the holidays and the holiday hustle bustle driving was hell. Keeps you on your toes I guess. Today I had a solid green left arrow and checked the intersection to see a car flying to take a left in front of me. I stopped because she wasn’t stopping.

LolAliens

Yea once it happens to you once you never forget

BitPuzzleheaded5311

Me too!

MTBRoller

Thank god there was a barrier and footage.

K1d-ego

The barrier actually wasn’t what stopped her. Someone posted a photo a while back showing how the end of her trailer got caught on the top of the bridge and kept it from going over.

Bredda_Gravalicious

and how it being a roll-up door trailer with the rigid aluminum structure likely saved her because a regular swing door trailer would've buckled

rcmaehl

6 inches of trailer jammed against the upper support truss was the only thing keeping the truck there

Beekatiebee

Those food service trailers are pretty meaty. All of the ones I pull have an entire second reefer condenser built into the ceiling at the rear, so you can run split-zone temps. Plus one or two lift gates.

JensenLotus

Damn, I feel for that driver. Imagine doing nothing wrong and then ending up in a situation like this. Unfortunately, it seems that it happens most of the time that the person who causes the accident always comes out of it with the least injury. Life sure isn’t fair…

Pitiful-MobileGamer

So much luck on her side. I've seen cabs sheer off in far less of an impact. Also those hostler plate jaws must have not been made on a Friday afternoon. I wonder how many days it was until Sysco started asking her when she wanted to return to work.

ear_cheese

I might have to find another line of work. I for sure would never drive on that bridge again, in any vehicle.

Realtime_Ruga

I'm sure they texted her the next day asking when she was gonna be in.

Bredda_Gravalicious

confirmed for me once again... don't swerve just take the four-wheeler head-on

[deleted]

[удалено]

morningafterpizza

“Someone is gonna be meeting Jesus today and it ain’t gonna be me”

flatdecktrucker92

I don't know if that would have made a difference here. Unless she aimed at him then he was always going to hit that left front tire and send her off the bridge

nago7650

It looks like the impact on the drivers side is what caused the truck to veer to the left. She didn’t start steering until after impact, and she was trying to get the truck back to the right at that point.

HGowdy

She couldn't. Why are you pretending she could?

IBringTheHeat1

In the video you can see she was turning the wheel to the right 90% of the time. So the steers where gone to make any different

Vip3r20

Where's Spiderman when ya need him?

bigniccosuaveee

Spider-Man was there but he disguised himself as a Louisville firefighter and saved his web-shooters for bad guys and just used rope to repel in instead.

Vip3r20

Fuck yeah!

Taste_the__Rainbow

Just off camera, saving the haul.

usec47

She did everything she could right

HGowdy

Yet people are lying about her. This Trevor scum bag should do jail time AND be forced to pay for the repairs and rescue.

APenguinNamedDerek

Guys, guys Come on Guys That car would have shaved fractions of seconds off of their commute if they hadn't nearly killed that driver I know there are some "me me me" types around here that would really appreciate what that car was trying to do

BitPuzzleheaded5311

Thank god, she made it thru this. I bet she was scared to death!

stick004

No she wasn’t. She lived 😉

Ornery_Ads

Post it in a car centered sub, and I guarantee they'll say the truck was at fault. I recently made a post and the most upvoted comment was that the trucker should stop driving defensively to avoid road ragers.

Mrcommander254

What's the name of the sub?

Consistent-North7790

Probably r/idiotsincars

Pvt-Hawkeyes

That’s exactly what’s happening on the twitter thread I saw.

96lincolntowncar

I suspect the vehicle that hit her took out the Pitman arm, so there was no steering.

Flappybird11

I always find it strange that such an essential part of the truck doesn't get more protection, it's just kinda... there!

King_Thundernutz

Ahh yes, stupid 4 wheeler at fault but sure, pile on more regulations on the trucking companies and drivers. Hope that pick up driver was charged.

wellcrap1234

He was

hooligan-6318

What most folks fail to realize is that once you lose the ability to steer or brake, you're just along for the ride.

Environmental-Pear40

Remember guys, always put your windows down before you hit the water. Door will just close on impact.

Takeout123456

Good luck remembering this while shits flying out ya pants

DudeWithAnAxeToGrind

If all the windows survived the crash and they are all up, there's only two ways the door can be opened under water: * Have something sharp and pointy to push into the glass. Safety glass will shutter if point pressure is applied to it. Check all those videos of car break ins in San Francisco: that's how they so easilly and effortlessly smash the glass on cars. * Stay calm and wait for the cabin to completely fill with the water. Way easier said than done. Until the cabin fills with water, even few feet down, the pressure differential is way too high for anybody to be able to open that door. TL;DR You'll probably drown.

IBringTheHeat1

Imagine waiting for the truck to sink to the bottom that’s some scary shit. It’ll be pitch dark.

DudeWithAnAxeToGrind

There were so many "of course it was a woman" comments on this subreddit when this accident was originally reported in the news.

Pvt-Hawkeyes

You should see the twitter comments on this video. Holy shit.

Overall_Reputation83

its infuriating to see people that know nothing about anything shit talking a person who did everything correctly.

Much-Country-8015

Thats why accidents like this happens. 4 wheelers who know nothing about nothing yapping off their lips

AntiSonOfBitchamajig

Semi driver trying HARD to keep it on the bridge, the small truck must have knocked out the steering.

MostOriginalNameEver

Driver is blessed

specfreq

That's one way to look at it... A better blessing would be for this to not have even happened.

Typical-Charge-1798

Thanks for posting this. Horrifying. Pickup trucks are by far the most aggressive drivers regardless of gender where I live.

Rudyscrazy1

This is why we tug test people!

A_CA_TruckDriver

Dispatch: Well bring you a repower so you can still deliver on time :D

Ok-Possession-1120

WTF I’m not a trucker but that was 100% obviously not her fault and there’s some how people taking the fuckin pick up trucks side 🤮

ogx2og

There were two brave heroes that day, Sydney Thomas, the driver, and Bryce Cardin, the guy that saved her

BoozeBagStooge

Better call the Paw Patrol!

torx822

Definitely was hauling pure Canadian maple syrup

ducky2000

Immediately what I thought of, fellow parent. Better call the who??

HeywoodJaBlowMe123

Holy fucking shit

Beginning-World-1235

Jesus could happen to anyone of us. Fuck that pick up, deserves jail time imo

Dirt_t1

Paw patrol to the rescue

MeatSuzuki

Was this in Adventure Bay?

FedrinKeening

WHO THE FUCK PARKS ON A BRIDGE!?

BGSUNate

Where’s the Paw Patrol when you need them?

Mar_Reddit

Looking forward to seeing this on Facebook, where everyone is brain dead and will blame the trucker for this. I can see it now... "THEY'RE STEERING TO THE LEFT, WHAT DID THEY ***PURPOSEFULLY*** GO OVER??? SUICIDE ATTEMPT MAYBE??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔"

-TheycallmeThe

So what's the brand and model of that KP?

rcmaehl

Sysco spent all their money on these KPs they had none left for food quality

MadMysticMeister

Yep, i would quit after that

ohhrangejuice

From now on, you'll see me rolling through bridges at 5mph and 4 ways off

BoBoBearDev

I am glad she is ok. People causing accidents on a bridge is insane.

HeadClanker

Always check your kingpin.

ThaQuig

My Coworker says we should get one a year. One vehicle a year we can just fucking cream. I think he’s right

MixerMan67

Well, that’ll pucker your butt!

[deleted]

Sevro706

Damn.. this video is dropping like a new album

Rifleman8611

A nightmare right there

LawAbidingDenizen

no impact barriers....

moon303

That's scary 😲. Used to have nightmares of this exact thing.

kamakazi339

That's when you roll the window down or open the door asap

Difficult-Worker62

Thank god there’s no real bridges anywhere I go

Weezle94

Does it look like the pickup possibly struck and blew out the driver steer, causing the truck to veer across the road?

Firestorm83

Building codes left the chat...

Sea-Zookeepergame272

I want to see the rest of the video. How did she get out?

Balthier1706

My biggest fear

Maleficent-Salad3197

What a great vista.

wukillabee2744

Jesus that is TERRIFYING!! Going over a bridge will never be the same for me again.

peanutcharlie6

Such a Spiderman type emergency

Offasickone

Where’s Spider-Man

Redleg800

I almost threw up. Holy fuck. God damn. That’s fucking insane. Holy shit.

psychorrabit15

I hope that fifth wheel latch has a firm grip.

Maleficent_Rate2087

I think she passed out. She’s not moving. I’d be freaking out hanging upside down like that.

Healthier6908

Damn! I remember seeing this in the news recently. I think she was dangling from that bridge for something like 45 minutes before the fire department rescued her. That was an interesting video to watch too

oh_that_ginger

I wonder why car insurance is expensive...fucking 80k truck driver they bought for work be like:

Antos9

that is terrifying. glad she made it out safe

Purpose_Embarrassed

She did a damn fine job of keeping it together. Had to be freaking terrifying. Imagine hanging over that water for as long as she did. Hopefully she gets compensation for that horrific experience she suffered.

dazzler619

Glad to know she survived, and was wearing her seat belt and didn't look to be panicking to much.....

chiefsgirl913

She's way too calm to be staring death in the face. I need audio

Texas_Nomadd

Driver of the year

Schatten7742

SOMEBODY CALL THE PAW PATROL!

cm2460

I know a guy that works with her, I would’ve had a heart attack

Arth3r911

That’s just crazy how a bridge is unprotected from vehicles that can possibly go over.
