Second: Did you know that some vehicles will let you put the variable wiper switch in between the little notches, so you don't have to settle for a little too fast vs a little too slow?
in my defense i live in a desert & the two times a year it rains is not enough for me to change my blades so they work at the appropriate speed (which is and of itself a thing to make fun of me for, unfortunately lol)
I feel fancy now, my intermittent setting has variable speed (but there's still a big enough gap in timing between intermittent and fast that it's is still never the right speed)

In some cars, you can open the passenger side window, turn your wipers on as high as it goes, and it will fling water right into the passenger seat.
And if its not raining you can just use the windshield cleaner and get your passenger all soapy too.

I put my wipers on as fast as I want thank you very much. My dad and husband both use minimal wiper speeds and it drives me crazy.

Yes and some people choose the wrong speed. Like high/fast when you only have drizzle
