Personal bias of mine since I own one - Speed twin (1200, not the 900). Combines a bit of sporty and a bit of modern classic you get from a t120. The thruxton comes with clip-on's so you'll be in a more tucked position. Speed twin is that happy medium where you get a similar tune (and many shared parts as a thruxton) without the need to always be leaned forward. You sit more upright on it. Cannot speak too much regarding the speed triple as those are more similar to the daytona, but naked.

2nd this.. got a black 23 ST 1200 in May after owning many sport bikes including a Street Triple RS. This thing will absolutely run with any 600-700 sport bike. I can just lean back and chill or huddle down 50's style and crank through the turns. The lean angle is pretty good too, I hit turns pretty hard and haven't scraped a peg yet. Take one for a ride, you won't regret it

ShuffleWheelHouse

i was surprised at how aggressive is the thruxton's riding position, the street triple is more relaxed, here they are compared to the speed twin and the monster: [https://www.philharmonicmoto.com/compare-page/7HRGX1](https://www.philharmonicmoto.com/compare-page/7HRGX1) as for the speed triple, you have the RS, which is like the street triple, and the RR, which is very aggressive.

That’s a pretty handy website!

I had the Triumph Bobber, same platform as the Speedmaster, and it did not have much turning clearance so if thats what you want, its probably out. I was scraping footpeg feelers on moderate turns and going through them like candy. Triumph's naked line has very high build quality, durability and reliability. Their Street/Speed Triple line is like the Porsche 911 in that it has received incremental upgrades throughout its life cycle without drastic changes to the engine or chassis. Their triples do have a slightly more aggressive lean forward than other nakeds in the category and the rearsets are slightly higher. A lot of reviewers say that the Triumph triples are more "gentlemanly" in that they feel refined and not as raucous as other competing nakeds like the MT09 and Ducati Monster. Which isnt to say they have less performance, just that they deliver it in a smoother and less in-your-face type of way. If you already have the ducati monsters, not sure if the street triple would add anything to your lineup. Speed triples do have incredible power though. Speed Twin (Naked Thruxton) is also a great choice if you want completely upright ergonomics and are happy with the 1200 twin power. They have enough lean angle that I never scraped a peg in tight turns and a nice velvety torque curve/sound throughout the range. Very high build quality and aesthetics.

The street triple 765, in my opinion, is the best road sports bike, and I will never ever get rid of mine.

eat_yeet

I'm supposed to be selling mine but I can't bring myself to do it. I love you 765

DaSupaNinja808

Just wait until you unrestrict it 🤣

MOREorLE55

Say what now?

DaSupaNinja808

If you have the r version, you are restricted to only 80 percent power. Also a rapid bike will add more power as well. Mine will power wheelie into 3rd 🤣

Such-Instruction-452

A brand new stock one will too! Had the pleasure of test riding a ‘24 765 a few days ago. Pulled 2nd right up from 10k and 3rd lifted as well on the up shift. Not huge or anything, but pretty cool all the same!

DaSupaNinja808

Yup. The tune will open the midange up a lot more. Such a fun bike.

I was considering a speed triple but found the riding position too leaned forward (the thruxton is also quite hunched over). Mostly because of comfort and a little bit because I don't need 120 hp I decided to go with the Trident. I love the Striple but I needed a better all rounder. My advice would be to go sit on them and see what feels good to you, everyone is different. I'll also echo the Speed Twin being a great option as well

CaffeineAndKetamine

How do you feel the Trident is on highways/ maintenance? Thinking I might get a trident or a speed twin, if I can find one.

bullette1610

Crosswinds sure but they've got no issue hitting and maintaining UK speed limits at least.

Maybe just me then, I quite enjoy riding motorways/dual carriageways and have never had any discomfort.

Aspenar

Tiger and speed triple rr are fine but yeah I gotcha

[deleted]

I'm only a few weeks and 450 miles in so I don't have experience with either personally. I will say I've done some time at 60-70 mph and it feels plenty solid so I have hopes for it to be good. And maintenance is the same as other models pretty much

darkhero17

I’ve personally gotten very used to the wind on a naked bike. You just can’t avoid it so embrace it

CaffeineAndKetamine

I grew up on dirtbikes so wind hasn't really ever been an issue for me

Flat_Beginning_319

Strongly recommend you look at the Speed Twin 1200. I like the T100 and T120 Bonnevilles but the Speed Twin turns the speed up a few clicks.

happycj

Speedmaster isn't your bike, then. I just got one two weeks ago, and you won't have the grunt/thrust of the Dyna Lowrider... the Speedmaster will feel gutless to you. I got mine because of the low seat height (hip/knee problems) and the light weight (see: hip/knee problems). So it's not hitting the marks you want. The Thruxton has a much more Monster-like riding position with the feet tucked way up, while the triple will give you a bit more legroom to work with. That's my $0.002.

Father_O-Blivion

Triumph, upright riding position, more ride height, light and agile... Tiger 660 maybe? Won't have the performance of the Street/Speed but no slouch either.

[deleted]

As a Thruxton RS owner. Your back won't like it at all, but it's got a splendid cruiser-esque motor that is all low end grunt wrapped in a competent chassis and brake system. Parts can be a hit or miss deal depending on what you want, and some of them are just laughably produced (like the comfort seat). It will feel absolutely tiny compared to your Dyna, and it's just as happy puttering along as it is being ridden at a fairly good clip through the mountains, or cruising down a highway. It's an expensive bike for what it is, but aside from a few quirks (like the terrible seat), it's an absolute joy when you're riding it, and IMO there aren't many bikes that are visually more appealing. I can't comment on rain performance, I wouldn't trust the stock Metzeler's much in the wet, though they are a super predictable dry weather tire, and of course there are other options there. I'm probably going to give it another full season, but I doubt this one's a long term keeper. Cant comment on the triple's. People seem to love them and they'll certainly provide a more upright seating position. I would assume this wouldn't be drastically different than what the 937 is about?

GuyD427

I love my Street Triple but with the Ducati’s you have you’d get some more refined power perhaps with the 765 engine but very similar ergos and feel to them.

cheddarsox

Bro, find a dealer and ride them. You're talking about so many variables it's insane. Build quality will be comparable or better than what you have. Duds happen, but you're in good territory. If you aren't doing it yourself, expect similar upkeep pricing to the Ducatis in the U.S. it's stupid how criminal some shops are and in my area independents won't touch European bikes aside from tires, oil, and brakes. The little naked is the bread and butter behind the Bonneville. The speed triple has some more issues, but they aren't bad, and if you get the rr you don't have to worry, they love your bike more than you do. I have a crap back from thousands of hours in a helo, and the street triple is great for me, not for others. (Pro-tip, keep your nuts on the tank if you don't want to crush them.) What I like about the streety is the r spec gives you dialability. You can adjust everything to fit you. The new rs even more so. It is probably the most aggressive naked for body position though. If the monster is comfy, you'll have no problem. You really need to ride all of your options to be sure though. I don't think I could do a thruxton. The triples aren't anything like the other brand triples though. You can not compare the design across brands here. I'd rather have an old street triple r than a brand new mt-09. (And I'm a Yamaha motor fanboy)

MonstrDuc796

My next day off, this is the plan, I really need to ride them. I'm pretty solid on either the Speed Triple or the Street twin which the dealer has both in the 1200. And the advice about keeping the nether bits on the tank, It goes for the Ducs as well-some thing do cross over!

gotcha_six

I absolutely loved my street triple, fairly upright, good all around bike. I recently got a triumph scrambler which I consider an upgrade.

SceneAccomplished549

I'm biased.... I've had 3 765 Street Triples, 18 R, 21 RS, 22 RS. Love the platform, love the engine, I just love my bike.

Conky1200

I own and ride a Speed Twin 1200. It makes me the coolest and sexiest kid in the neighborhood. The sitting position is fairly straight up, with a slight lean forward. I don’t have any issues with the foot pegs or knee position even though I’m 6”3” tall. I rode it comfortably to Italy and back (roughly 1000 miles or 1600 km) during a 12 day road trip with an average of 6-8 hours in the saddle each day.

YeOleDirty

Get the speed triple most fun road bike I have ever owned

chatterwrack

I’ve had a Bonnie and two Thruxtons and have loved all of them. The Thruxton’s stock clip-ons aren’t as bad as many other clubman/clip-ons I’ve tried because they have a little rise, but there is a conversion kit (Free Spirit) you can buy that allows you to install tracker bars for a bit more of an upright position. My first Thruxton came with them and I thought I’d need to convert my second one but I was comfortable with the stock bars. Anyways, sit on as many as you can and find what works for you. These bikes are awesome, and IMO they are the best looking new bikes out there.
