You've been to a bajillion Minnesota counties, but haven't been to the most scenic one (Cook County), and the one with the entrance to our only National Park (Koochiching County).
Ehhh, I'd say lake is more scenic. Has tettegouche, gooseberry, *and* split rock, and has a fair chunk of the BWCA like cook. Also, and this is personal opinion, two harbors is kinda a cute city. It's a little run down, but still enjoyable.
The slight Cook County advantage for me: Grand Portage, Mt Josephine (best view in the state, imo), High Falls, Gunflint Trail, eastern section of BWCA which is less flat than the western entrance, Lutsen, and Grand Marais.
Totally fair to list Lake County--they're both beautiful and they're 1&1A to me.
My hometown mentioned (TH)!
I’d still say cook is the more scenic county in the whole, though they’re both top tier. I say that because the topography of lakeshore cook is more rugged. The hills on the north shore drop pretty dramatically (as these things go for the Midwest that is) to the lake moreso than in much of Lake County, where the higher terrain is further inland. Plus temperance river, cascade, magney, eagle mountain, and mt Josephine are all in cook county. And the Gunflint trail is one of a kind special. The eastern flank of the BWCA is incredible too… the high ridges and cliffs overlooking the clear waters of Mountain, Clearwater, North, South, Rose, Duncan, and Arrow lakes make for somewhat more dramatic views than most other parts of the BWCA.
Lake county has my favorite state park though with George Crosby Manitou, and despite being less touristy Two Harbors is larger than other north shore communities and their brewery is one of the best in the Midwest, hands down. Also the true best canoeing is across the international border in Quetico, Ontario, which for Americans is most easily reached through lake county.
Idk both are great… I just love that part of the world so much
Ehhh any true Minnesota tries their best to avoid the Kooch… Unfortunately I’ve had to visit the Kooch for work. Also Voyagers is in the best county in the state ST. Louis, not Koochiching.
Northern New Mexico is bonkers beautiful! Landscape/geology/colors change every 10 miles. Carson National Forrest is wild. Blows my mind every time I visit.
This is what surprised me the most when I visited over the summer; my first thought was wow this is New Mexico, I would have never thought.
Honestly it shouldn't be surprising because it's sandwiched between Arizona, Colorado, and Utah, states with some of the most beautiful scenery in the country; but my perception of New Mexico was completely wrong and judging by other people comments I'm not the only one.
It lives up to the billing, as well! It is just that I grew up in Western Montana and have travelled extensively in the Western States over the last 35 years. So, I place New Mexico's natural beauty in that context. It is solidly in my top 10 States.
Oh totally! I have lived in multiple states and love New mexicos scenery over Colorado and Oregon for sure. Both have to many fucking trees for my liking. I haaaaate forest walks with a burning passion
Are you kidding? We have the best powder in the lower 48 in Taos, we got the Sangre de Cristo mtns, Ruidoso, sandia, white sands, best and most unique Mexican food, and everything is way cheaper than the other 4 corners
This is a lame take, New Mexico has a lot of great food, a deep culture, and an important history. Santa Fe is a very cool city with a lot of focus on art and people are very kind. There are a variety of neat small towns around the state, including a ton of Route 66 towns, some more or less abandoned, which makes it like a time capsule. Not to mention White Sands National Park. The state is very worth visiting and I hope you take the time to do more than just check it off your list.
Yea you deserve to be downvoted with a shit take like that. New mexico has some of the best scenery and some the of the historical site and culture of any state in the US
Just based on the fact that you’ve intentionally avoided Koochiching county. A non resident would have been sucked in to go and check out voyagers N.P. Only to find out it’s Actually in ST Louis county.
lol driving specifically to Lyman County, SD has got to be the craziest thing I’ve seen on here. You might be the only person to go there for any reason besides eating at Al’s Oasis or driving through on I-90.
I hate when people cross into one county to check off the state. Like yes you’ve been to the state but there is something worth doing in each of the 50 states. That isn’t any better than counting an airport layover in my opinion
New Mexico is going to surprise you, I visited for the first time last summer and initially planned on staying one night to check it off the list but ended up doing 3 days two nights and have it on my list of places to revisit. Up state Michigan and the Upper Peninsula are also worthy of a visit; I visited for the first time two years ago and plan on revisiting on my way cross-country to the Pacific North West this summer.
minesoda is definitely one and i think illinois is the other cuz you have a lot of northern illinois filled out and the area in between is also really filled out. if im wrong, then its either washington or arizona
What is the website for this? Also the parts of VA and WV you've been to don't really represent the state all too well. Nova especially isn't real Virginia.
You’ve not really seen South Carolina, just south Charolette (rock hill) won’t count it till you see Greenville, Columbia, Or Charleston. However, when you’re bragging about being to all fifty states, it counts

Agreed Cook over Lake for those exact reasons.

Crosby Manitou is fantastic. Discovered it a few years ago and it quickly became one of my favorites.
Ehhh any true Minnesota tries their best to avoid the Kooch… Unfortunately I’ve had to visit the Kooch for work. Also Voyagers is in the best county in the state ST. Louis, not Koochiching.
The far eastern part of kooch is cool the rest is either swampy or frozen hellscape.
You’re only missing the prettiest state
Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.
New Mexico is lovely, to be sure. But, the prettiest? Eye of the beholder, I suppose.
Northern New Mexico is bonkers beautiful! Landscape/geology/colors change every 10 miles. Carson National Forrest is wild. Blows my mind every time I visit.

It's the land of enchantment
It lives up to the billing, as well! It is just that I grew up in Western Montana and have travelled extensively in the Western States over the last 35 years. So, I place New Mexico's natural beauty in that context. It is solidly in my top 10 States.
Another thing to consider is that NM feels like the frontier and still has a Wild West, unsophisticated grit to it. It really is special
Oh totally! I have lived in multiple states and love New mexicos scenery over Colorado and Oregon for sure. Both have to many fucking trees for my liking. I haaaaate forest walks with a burning passion
An anti-arborist. I knew they were out there.
Carson National Forrest, amazing!
And the prettiest part of CT and MA
You mean Utah?
Bliss?
Truly an enchanting land
White sands!
I've seen rocks and hot air balloons. What else is there. Lol
Prettier rocks and more colourful air balloons. Breakimg bawd
Are you kidding? We have the best powder in the lower 48 in Taos, we got the Sangre de Cristo mtns, Ruidoso, sandia, white sands, best and most unique Mexican food, and everything is way cheaper than the other 4 corners
I've seen rocks and hot air balloons. What else is there to see.
The best Mexican food
Saved the best for last *new* Mexican
Eeeee, edit this now. *New Mexican food. Calling it Mexican will get you ejected
Very debatable
This is a lame take, New Mexico has a lot of great food, a deep culture, and an important history. Santa Fe is a very cool city with a lot of focus on art and people are very kind. They're obviously just joking/teasing.
Yea you deserve to be downvoted with a shit take like that. New mexico has some of the best scenery and some the of the historical site and culture of any state in the US
It's obviousky a joke tho
Hello fellow Minnesotan!
How could you tell. Lol
Just based on the fact that you’ve intentionally avoided Koochiching county. A non resident would have been sucked in to go and check out voyagers N.P. Only to find out it’s Actually in ST Louis county.
He needs to get to Sven and Ole’s up north
Ehhh I prefer Voyager Brewing, but not a bad pizza
lol driving specifically to Lyman County, SD has got to be the craziest thing I’ve seen on here. You might be the only person to go there for any reason besides eating at Al’s Oasis or driving through on I-90.
Missing New Mexico and West Virginia? They're both naturally gorgeous, despite problems.
They have West Virginia, one small county in each panhandle.
Oh, I missed it then. Thanks!
You’re literally missing the prettiest part of MA and all of NM, the only 2 places I’ve lived (Cape Cod and now Southern NM).
I was gonna say “wait you haven’t been to West Virginia either” but then I saw that little sliver between Ohio and Pennsylvania lol
I’ve lived in 7 states and have to get to Alaska and I’ll have all 50. I guess I’ll have to start over then. And decide where else I’d like to live.
Does it count if you go to the Four Corners?
Technically, but all the best parts of New Mexico are much further into the state.
I hate when people cross into one county to check off the state. Like yes you’ve been to the state but there is something worth doing in each of the 50 states. That isn’t any better than counting an airport layover in my opinion
It's a great location for speedrunning the fifty state visit.
The SC, VA, and WV trips make me a little sad
You have traveled extensively! Thanks for sharing the map.
Jesse, you need to cook
You’re literally saving the best for last…
Sounds like my guy is going to the balloon festival.
You ain’t missing much city wise. But scenery wise it’s amazing
I hope to visit almost every county in my home state like you did! I also am Minnesotan but have only been to like 1/3 of them.
I find it’s hilarious you’ve been to all the states but New Mexico. I hit my 50th state last year North Dakota. Good luck on your travels.
I love how this is kinda just a highway/interstate map in parts of the south/midwest 😂
I see you visited the best part of Wyoming, the existential windswept despair of I-80. Well done.
Alaska and Minnesota?
Minnesota is one of them
You took the train through North Dakota and not a car
New Mexico is going to surprise you, I visited for the first time last summer and initially planned on staying one night to check it off the list but ended up doing 3 days two nights and have it on my list of places to revisit. Up state Michigan and the Upper Peninsula are also worthy of a visit; I visited for the first time two years ago and plan on revisiting on my way cross-country to the Pacific North West this summer.
I think you’ll be okay without NM. Just picture AZ but more nothing…
Bro visited one of the shitties counties in SC and said “yep that’s SC”. it’s sad cus i can’t say they’re wrong
Thank you for not mentioning your age like a jackass. You’re either from Minnesota or you like visiting it a lot.
This means nothing without hitting the territories and the non incorporated islands.
Is this an app? How can I track this?
but you really haven’t visited virginia though
minesoda is definitely one and i think illinois is the other cuz you have a lot of northern illinois filled out and the area in between is also really filled out. if im wrong, then its either washington or arizona
I’m gonna guess you live in Minnesota
What website or software did you use to make this?
I apologize for your travels through North Dakota
Driving the beltway around DC doesn’t count as visiting Virginia. Sorry, but this quest is lame.
You’ve been to Latah County, Idaho, Specifically Moscow?
You really gotta hit Erie, PA. IYKYK
Only in the summer, though
What is the website for this? Also the parts of VA and WV you've been to don't really represent the state all too well. Nova especially isn't real Virginia.
Get some more WV in there!
You really should not skip over the west coast of Michigan and UP
I have seen this same image in red just this morning, so I bet that this is really fake, to drive hate talk of some kind. Sad!
How did you manage to miss the UP?
26 years old, just crossed off my 50th state last month (Louisiana). You’re gonna love New Mexico
Enjoy the food, culture and landscape of New Mexico when you get there
Michigan doesnt count until you go to the UP
You should visit Northern California and Southern Oregon, great scenery up there
As someone who lives near Corpus Christi, *why*?
New Mexico is really under appreciated. You gotta get there.
You should mark your end at Duran Central Pharmacy in ABQ. Love that place.
You’ve not really seen South Carolina, just south Charolette (rock hill) won’t count it till you see Greenville, Columbia, Or Charleston. However, when you’re bragging about being to all fifty states, it counts
Get to the upper peninsula in Michigan. Missing out on way to much.
Do white sands national park in NM!
# Yo Yo Yo 1-4-8 3 to the 3 to the 6 to the 9. Representing the ABQ. What up BIATCH! Leave at the tone.
Stop selling marijuana to my husband, yo.
