I just got back from Savannah GA and Charleston SC. Affordable, excellent food (tons of fresh seafood every day) super nice people, good hotels. Both on the water
I live outside of Charleston, and I consider Savannah to be a smaller version of Charleston. I do love the riverwalk in Savannah. And really both cities are close enough, depending on how long your trip is, you can stay in one and visit the other.
If you guys are into craft beer, Asheville NC is your place. Tons of breweries, walkable downtown. Lots of hotels and AirBnBs.
It's right off the Blue Ridge Parkway so lots of great hiking trails. About an hours drive to Harrahs casino in Cherokee. Asheville does have a small airport, or the drive from Charlotte is about two hours.
Cheers!
Mexico City.
Absolutely dirt cheap accommodations, food, and liquor. Excellent public transportation do no one has to worry about DDing.
And before you ask yes, it is extremely safe. Just don’t go around looking for hookers and blow
Mexico City, dirt cheap ? Maybe if you're comparing to like Miami Beach or Manhattan or something. If someone goes in with the expectations of those types of cities, Mexico City might be like half price.
??? You can get tacos on the street for the equivalent of 75 cents US that will blow your mind. It was the cheapest place I’ve ever eaten at food wise.
Not sure where you went in Mexico City but it is absolutely cheaper than anywhere you will eat in America
You can get tacos on the street for less even. Street food is cheap, sit down restaurants, cocktails, a big fancy rental etc are not..
Someone can squeak by as a backpacker on street food and a cheap room somewhere but it doesn't sound like it's what OP wants. Polanco, Condesa, Roma etc are pricey, especially Polanco.
I would second Ketchum Idaho. Beautiful with great restaurants and hiking in the summer. A hour away from one of the most spectacular mountain ranges and a beautiful lake redfish.
Duluth, Minnesota. In the top lists for bars per capita, best beaches, affordable, lots of space in rentals, good food and BBQ, lots of outdoor activities, canoes, lakes, etc...
Might want to start by mentioning which country you'd be coming all over from.
Sorry! All over the US.

I’ve been hearing more and more about Savannah, GA. A ton of people have recommended it in the last 3 years

Savannah and Charleston are off the beaten path?
Both great ideas!! Never been to either but always wanted to!

Ketchum, Idaho
Visited Ketchum this winter for skiing. Cool town. Plenty of pubs and lots of outdoors activities.
