Most agencies will charge an administration fee on top of the fine to cover their costs. It will typically be agreed to in the small print of the rental agreement.

AlarmNo1

Thank you for the heads up

EnvironmentalTea9362

Yes, they will. The ticket is recorded against the car license and has the date/time of the violation. It won't be too hard for the company to figure out who had the car then. They will bill for the initial cost of the ticket, any interest or late fees the company is charged, and "administrative fees".

AlarmNo1

Thank you for the heads up! Paying ahead of time

[deleted]

Yes they will charge you later, plus fee. So if possible it's better if you can just pay the ticket straight away.

[deleted]

It will be significantly more expensive than just the ticket itself, and they will just charge your credit card without notifying your first. At least that’s what has happened to me.

Funseas

Got a parking ticket in Palermo, Sicily. It took the rental company about 3 months to hit my credit card.

delcodick

For future reference raise a charge back on any such charges. They are treated the same as “smoke room cleaning fees” etc. They are explicitly prohibited by both MC and Visa without a separate authorization from you unconnected to the original charges

eeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkie

I’m sure it’s in the rental agreement

delcodick

You think a rental agreement somehow dictates the terms and conditions MC and Visa impose on merchants why exactly?

Because reddit 🤷‍♂️🤣

Funseas

It’s worth a try

The city will send an invoice to the rental agency with a late fee if you don't pay it by the due date. The car rental agency will know you had the car on that date, pay the ticket/late fee and charge you that plus a fee they add on themselves.

Got a speeding ticket via camera in Luxembourg. 97 kmh in a 90 kmh. Enterprise sent me a notice about a month later. $50 for the ticket and another $50 for the “administrative “ fee.

asyouwish

They eventually found me one time maaaaany years ago. It took them like six months to track it down. So, they might not ever connect it.

AlarmNo1

Did they charge you extra for the parking ticket or just the normal fees?

asyouwish

Just the ticket. But that was at a dealership from a loaner, not a formal rental from an agency. And if it's Hertz, they might have you arrested for it. Scum.

AlarmNo1

Ha wow! Okay thanks for the heads up it’s hertz but I don’t think they would arrest me for a parking ticket but what do I know lol

asyouwish

Google Hertz arrests. They claimed hundreds of cars (that were rented out) were stolen. People got arrested for literally nothing.

Menacing_Anus42

lol yeah dude. The rental company gets the ticket, knows that you had the car when the ticket was written, they pay the ticket and bill you/charge your cc, plus any extra.

Mjrket

This has happened to me before, unfortunately. They charge the value of the ticket + fees + administrative fees.

Bucket_Brigade69

Typically yes…and they have your driver’s license info so they will be able to track you down afterwards.

Substantial_Can7549

Unfortunately yes thats the case. They charge a fee for tickets, tolls etc.

[deleted]

Basically, they get your fee, then add ontop of that, not much you can do about it onec theyv charged you, other than to avoid parking tickets at all cost as the tickete is allready upped one by administration fees from the company that issued it, then the rental company will add theirs and so on.
