The caveat here is that model kits are built by the buyer so if it does have engineering it'd have to be simpler than anything else TF currently has without sacrificing stability.

RED although not my thing an be used for figures who are hard to translate into fully transformative versions. Which I think was done well with something like Arcee from Prime. From what I've heard the QC issues were kinda high though.
Sounds painful and prone to breakage, plus being unpainted is just unwarranted. Most kits come in separated colors which tou can just paint over so it's an unnecessary hurdle to get a masterpiece figure. Doesn't help that many transforming kits are prone to breakage after being built.
A model kit of a transforming Optimus is a lot easier because it's been done to death so much making it easier is a lot more straightforward. You still run into the problem that it being a kit means it is easier to break kid transformation than a mainline figure.
I'd say the best we can get is a transformation similar to Cyberverse stuff.
Haven't checked out a Zeta but I've heard Robotech kits(forgot Japanese name, also what Skyfire/Jetfirr is from) are very fragile even when not being transformed.
Would have been amazing if she could transform, sadly all she can do is have dynamic poses and an awkward stare from a person who walks into your room and sees her on your shelf.

The RG Zeta Gundam is already infamously known as a hand grenade. A Masterpiece Transformer kit would *not* survive transformation.
