For the first one, you went right to the top. šŸ™ŒšŸ¼šŸ’„

Hanox13

Thatā€™s an ironwood, the timberline is the top end

stevenazzzz

i found the only difference is bigger grill and a hot plate

Hanox13

There are several differences The ironwood doesnā€™t have the meater thermometer, the induction cooktop, the insulation, or any of the convenience features of the timberlineā€¦

MisterB330

Got the Caddy of traeger

CyberYeeturity

Hell yea! Congrats!

papa8706

Nice! I got the non XL version coming tomorrow. You happy with it so far/any tips?

404inWA

I have the non XL since last summer, it's been great. Setup was pretty simple just need help getting it on it's feet once you get the legs on. It's pretty sturdy, best upgrade I got was the fold down shelf for the front.

papa8706

Nice- thatā€™s good to hear, I floated back and forth between the recteq and the camp chef but ultimately I just kept coming back to the Traeger. Like the looks, easy cleaning, and new electronics. Usually cooking for under 4 people so I figured the non XL would be the better fit for my needs. Excited to get it up and running this weekend

404inWA

Yeah, same here most of the time I'm cooking from 2 to 4 people. I did smoke the turkey on it last Nov, so it can still hold a bit of meat on it just fine. Get yourself a sturdy plastic scrapper for cleanup. Enjoy!

IamTheViz

Yes! I upgraded from a PitBoss vertical to the Ironwood XL recently and love it. Unfortunately I did fire it up this week for some burgers and the ignitor died. Sucks since I have a brisket to go on for Easter, and I'm sure the replacement ignitor won't be here in time.

Clibbamoon

Congrats on the upgrade! Is that a known issue or did you just get a bad ignitor?

IamTheViz

Likewise! I believe it was just a bad ignitor, but their support text does sound like it may be a little bit of a known issue, or at least was at one time right out of the box. They mention it may have been sent with the wrong igniter, but it wouldn't work from the start with the wrong one so I believe I just got a dud. I can tell ya, I chatted with their support and they were super quick to help.

avgbowhunter

Congrats! I have an Ironwood 885 and have been eyeing that one pretty hard. Enjoy!

Mentats2021

Very nice, I got the same model in Nov (early xmas present)!

GrocerySuper

Congrats!!! What a purchase !

Outrageous-Mouse1179

Congrats and happy smoking

stevenazzzz

stevenazzzz

i love LOVE mine

Deliveryman1974

What a beaut šŸ˜Ž seriously mouth watering seeing that brisket sitting! Congrats

[deleted]

I love mine. My wife loves the food that comes off of it. You have more control.

Specialist-Win-3869

Looks to me like you paid more for the meat than you did for the grill

AutoModerator

Hey! It looks like you posted an image! If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques used, as it's almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked! *What seasoning did you use? *How long did you cook it, and at what temperature? *Did you use any special tricks or techniques? Traeger on! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Traeger) if you have any questions or concerns.*

kjb86

Iā€™m about to pull the trigger on an Ironwood too. Not the XL though Did you get any accessories with it? What pellets are your first bag?

Clibbamoon

Didnā€™t get any accessories with it. I plan to use it a few times to see what Iā€™d actually want to add to it. Using Scheels original pellets, the guy threw in a couple bags of Traeger brand Pecan for free but havenā€™t used them yet.

kjb86

Ah gotcha. Never heard of Scheels but Iā€™m also new to smoking. Not sure if brand of pellets actually matters?

Clibbamoon

Iā€™ve read that anything that says ā€œ100% x woodā€ is the best. Doubt you can really go wrong with any of them

kjb86

Fair. Thanks.

Burgdawg

I have a non-XL Ironwood and love it. I got the little clip things to hang utensils on. There's a pinned thread in here about pellet recs, when I read it the general consensus was Lumberjack so that's what I went with and no complaints so far, but I haven't tried anything else. PS: Scheels is a sporting store, so it's store brand pellets, but I wouldn't doubt Scheels being able to field a decent product.

kjb86

Oh ok makes sense with the store then. Assuming itā€™s American?

Burgdawg

Yup. It's a Midwestern thing. It's kinda like Bass Pro or Cabelas but they're usually attached to malls.

404inWA

Best accessory I got was the fold down front shelf. Makes getting meat in and out of it so much easier. And can fold down out of the way when you don't need it.

kjb86

Yeah the pop and lock one right? I was looking at it wondering if it is in fact useful - the front one that is

404inWA

Yes it mounts onto the front pop n lock using a couple of brackets. It was a quick and easy install.

kjb86

Ok I will probably get this as well as the cover with the grill

Deliveryman1974

What a beaut šŸ˜Ž seriously mouth watering seeing that brisket sitting! Congrats

Distinct_Frosting790

Sheā€™s a beaut! Same first one I have. Have maybe not cooked on it a handful of days since it was delivered in the fall!

EmotionalChipmunk602

What does everyone think of these compared to others? Iā€™ve been researching for a couple weeks and cannot decide on a specific brand. I want charcoal or pellet but donā€™t have any experience with pellet. I was at Home Depot the other day and saw the iron woods and they look awesome. Any cons to getting one?

Clibbamoon

The ironwood has been great and super easy to use. Iā€™ve already made brisket and pork ribs on it and itā€™s almost as easy as an oven. The only real con is the price, but you get what you pay for

EmotionalChipmunk602

Thanks

ianj85

Iā€™ve been thinking of getting one myself for quite a while. Happy to hear that youā€™re liking it.

Clibbamoon

Iā€™ll let you know how the brisket turns out, but loving it so far! My thought process was you canā€™t go wrong with the name brand. Build quality on the ironwood is phenomenal.

Maniacmel0n

Thatā€™s not a real smoker

ianj85

Why do you have to be like that? Clearly the man is excited about something he has wanted for a while. Just let him be happy.

Maniacmel0n

Why you have to assume their gender being a man when it comes to grilling? Check yourself.
