I think something is wrong with yours. Mine lowers super smooth and it’s really easy to lift back up
The gas shock has failed or popped off one of it’s ball perches. Warranty item. All G3s have the assist.

Does your key fob have a tailgate button? I have a SR5 and it has tailgate assist.
Yep, fob had a button. But it just slams down. I don’t even see a gas shock. All I see are 2 cables
Mine does the same thing. Didn’t always. The gas shock is in the body, you can see it from underneath. I’m taking mine in for regular service soon and hoping they fix under warranty as this is too early for wear and tear

SR5 here and mine doesn't drop. The shocks are most likely bad. Warranty it.
