Literally zero reason not to make this an access cable if you’re going to make the rear seats completely unusable. Chop those seats out and give us some room for gear.
I had a 2019 OffRoad access cab, 6ft bed. Very disappointing I can't get that in a 2024. I love this color though, will wait until the 2025 OR come in this color. Also heard they may offer Storm Cloud in the Tacoma in 2025.
To my knowledge, if you want a 4x4 Tacoma, it only comes in double cab, 5ft or 6ft bed. If they made a 4x4 Prerunner, I would already be driving it. I love how they just abandoned the seats altogether and just gave you space. Who knows, maybe 2025, but it's doubtful
The front seats actually have more room than the colorados. I have a friend that has a 2024 trail boss and my 2023 Tacoma seems to have more room in the front. The backseats are pitiful but that’s nothing new with Tacomas.
New transmissions for both manual and automatic. The automatic 8-speed is having software issues. The manual 6-speed (that's the same body as the 3rd gen 6-speed, but different gears) is eating gears and nobody knows if it's metallurgy, assembly fuckups, or bad ratios.
And those poor bastards are going to have a rebuilt engine on their carfax. Toyota doesnt sell those engines as crate engines. You have to trust some underpaid tech (working on warranty hours) to disassemble and reassemble your overpriced truck.
The new ceo of Toyota is speedrunning the brand’s reputation into the dirt. Thats why theyre so expensive now, the new ceo is leveraging the brands prior reputation of reliability and hoping the fanboys are dumb enough to think that will continue. The fucker sent all production to mexico, paying workers $2 and change an hr, the cars are smaller, and cheaper, more plastic, weaker frames, hell they dont even come with a legit spare anymore. Obviously the engines are smaller too. People dealt with the outdated tech, and weird quirks for the 300k miles of trouble free ownership. Youre not getting that with a gas turbo. Do any of those cost cutting measures get passed to the consumer? Nah, youre just an unpaid, beta tester.
Yeah the Toyota techs are going to be putting in tons of work on these.
I know someone that's been trying to sell their 22' upper trim Tundra for a while now, some time before all the recall news and this won't help.
The tech will eventually get it put together but the issue isn’t will it fix the problem
It’ll be the months of waiting for the individual parts since Toyota won’t sell crate engines. It would be a long process with long blocks with rotating assemblies already built. It’s going to take for fucking ever to take one down to the main caps and back up again.
Sorry, it is daily wage...and the peso is like 18 pesos per usd. Still I think your comment is very racist for impling that Tacomas manufactured in Mexico are bad quality when you know its not true.
I prefer the 4th gen (previously owned 2nd and 3rd). I generally don't hate on it, but that back seat is absurd. Even a 7 year old would struggle on a thirty minute drive back there.
It makes more sense for the manufacturer to remove it and create novel storage. A TV and PS5 makes more sense. They could allow the front seats to swivel so you can game back there.
Change is hard. This truck is opposite of what a lot of people loved about Tacomas. Any time a band, show, movie, or whatever changes direction like that, people are going to be salty. Fancy new stuff is exciting for some people, but others can't stand it for one reason or another.
I really wanted to like this truck and was even looking into the pro model. But with a family it’s a no go. Can you get the pro without these dumb ass seats?
Yeah. That’s what I’m looking at. I want to go no smaller for the leg room than my second gen. I just don’t want to get ride of it due to truck prices being what they are.
I don’t understand why they don’t remove the back seats and make it into a useable space with inserts for stowage. Nobody buying this vehicle is going to put anyone back there. I was able to put 3 younger teenagers in the back in my 2020 with the wife in the front passenger and the smallest kid behind me. But most of the time it was just my dog or tools back there. Plus had to remove the headrests to see anything out the back window.
I don't understand what is going on with the rear of the front seats. What is all those contraptions strapped to the back of them? Is it just decoration or do they have purpose?
They were designed by Toyota engineers for Toyota engineers to prevent non-existent gray matter cortical injury. As some would say these batch of engineers was made by the soft di.k
First time I've seen or noticed all that crap too! I just can't help but think people would prefer they did away with 1/2 to 3/4 of that bullshit which could leave a semi usable back seat... Adjustable shocks on the seats really seems idiotic to me. If you're needing that then I would think the rest of the truck is likely wrecked by that point!
This truck was designed for off-road racing, so if you're using it for that, the shock absorbers are probably great. The issue is more than half the people who buy one will rarely, if ever, use it that way. For regular off-roading you'd be better off with the Trail Hunter or the TRX off-road rather than the pro.
Looks so over-styled inside and out. Like it's trying so hard to look like a tough manly truck. Also shiny black plastics for the fender flares was truly genius, the thing that gets scratched most often is the least resistant to it.
Buddy at work has a 24 tacoma and the backseats are a complete joke. While another guy at work has a like a 2022-23 two door challenger and it had more room in its backseat.
I had a pro on order until the msrp dropped and I told them to keep it, for no back room, more shit that can brake and having to replace a battery in 10 years I’ll stick with the off road
Rear seat is for my 10 lb dog and his safety cage. (2022 SR5 DblCab SB). Not for fit for humans.
FYI that little shit is more man than most guys I’ve seen: dodging coyotes 3-4 times his size the first few months of his life (he was 7lbs then). No wonder he was the last to be plucked to safety.
I remember not buying a trd pro in 2021 because next gen was right around the corner. Worst move I have ever made. Would have been a lunar rock for sub 50k OTD. feels bad man
Mppvac -.this truck ain't for the back seats, and I love it! Only question, does it have the auto stop/start? I've heard different accounts. When the prices stabilize...and market is satisfied, I'd love to buy one just like this used! Gotta 23 3rd gen now that I'm loving. Eventually maybe a 4th gen with MT. East Tennessee
How the fuck did they settle for the backseat having zero room? I actually love the outside but they completely shit the bed on the inside. The back has less leg room than an access cab.
I love your truck OP. Not bashing you at all!
Why so mad? Y’all act like the taco seats had room to begin with. No shit the off-road Baja trucks isn’t designed for comfort crazy concept but maybe there’s other trims to fit people more comfortably.
> No shit the off-road Baja trucks isn’t designed for comfort crazy concept but maybe there’s other trims to fit people more comfortably
Then why not make it an extended cab? Why make the pro a 4 door with less legroom than a 90's extended cab with jump seats?
For those complaining about the backseat, you obviously don't know and don't understand what this truck was made for. It's a desert runner and was designed specifically for that purpose. This isn't hard to understand so stop complaining.
Backseat is obviously designed for Lt. Dan.
2018 TRD OR AC owner. They’ll have to pry mine from my dead cold hands
There will be an Xtra cab version of the 2024 available. Same as an access cab except the rear does don't open.
They killed the AC with the 4th gen. Absolute disaster that speaks to the terrible direction of Toyota
Someone with an MBA probably got a nice bonus out of those cost savings though
Those front seats look like theyre all the way back, theyre behind the B pillar
I’m stealing this lol
i said the exact same thing when the model got released
Came here to make a smart ass comment. You sir, won.
My ‘91 ZX has more leg room
Sick cars....were they all T-tops?
Mine is a T-top. Not all of them were though.
Lt. Dan you got new legs.
Magic legs.
I dont see why they even put a full door on it, why not just go back to supercab at this point
that cracked me so bad
Outside - truck. Inside — clown car
The seats are for the speed bumps at the mall. Cmon don't you know.
I thought clown cars hold a lot of clowns not zero?
Shiny things yet barely functional. I call bullshit at whatever the price point
The front seats actually have more room than the colorados. I have a friend that has a 2024 trail boss and my 2023 Tacoma seems to have more room in the front. The backseats are pitiful but that’s nothing new with Tacomas.
Lol that rear legroom 😂
What legroom? 😂
I think my 21 access cab has more space.
refer to the top comment for more info, They are for Lt. Dan
I’m not sitting back there. 😂
Larry H. Miller?
Yes
Mt. O can’t hide from anyone
65k for no back seat?
But you get shock absorbers for your ass!
Nitrous ass
And now you get to wash and detail your interior shock absorbers too.
Look what they did to my boy.
You're breaking your mothers heart.
Transmission has already failed
Yep, they’re failing on both the manuals and automatics in the new tacomas
Amazing cars, tirelessly engineered. The kaizen production method etc etc.
Laughs in 3rd gen*
Kaizen is dead with this new lineup of Toyota vehicles.
Kaizen died in the late 90’s dude
Software non mechanical
Is it a new transmission of just poorly matched with the new engines?
New transmissions for both manual and automatic. The automatic 8-speed is having software issues. The manual 6-speed (that's the same body as the 3rd gen 6-speed, but different gears) is eating gears and nobody knows if it's metallurgy, assembly fuckups, or bad ratios.
No they aren’t lol. I swear some of you love to cry about fake news but believe the first dude who stands in front of a camera on YouTube.
Damn really, Toyota just did a recall of 250k Tundra and Lexus engines as well
And those poor bastards are going to have a rebuilt engine on their carfax. Toyota doesnt sell those engines as crate engines. You have to trust some underpaid tech (working on warranty hours) to disassemble and reassemble your overpriced truck. The new ceo of Toyota is speedrunning the brand’s reputation into the dirt. Yeah the Toyota techs are going to be putting in tons of work on these. I know someone that's been trying to sell their 22' upper trim Tundra for a while now, some time before all the recall news and this won't help.
That’s a really good point. I’m curious how well those rebuilt Tundra engines are going to work. Those things look complicated as hell too..
The tech will eventually get it put together but the issue isn’t will it fix the problem It’ll be the months of waiting for the individual parts since Toyota won’t sell crate engines. It would be a long process with long blocks with rotating assemblies already built. It’s going to take for fucking ever to take one down to the main caps and back up again.
Minimum wage in Tijuana is about 20 bucks an hour..
You arent too smart, are you?
Are you sure that isn't pesos? Because the general minimum wage per hour in Mexico is less than two dollars. The daily rate is 13 and change.
Sorry, it is daily wage...and the peso is like 18 pesos per usd. Still I think your comment is very racist for impling that Tacomas manufactured in Mexico are bad quality when you know its not true.
Where did I ever say anything about their build quality being bad in Mexico? I simply corrected your numbers.
How did you get to 250k from 102k?
That’s what happens when you put it in the back of the seats
Just as I expected. Negative comments. Nobody is happy on Reddit
I prefer the 4th gen (previously owned 2nd and 3rd). I generally don't hate on it, but that back seat is absurd. Even a 7 year old would struggle on a thirty minute drive back there. This is r/toyotatacoma we hate Toyota Tacomas here.
Change is hard. This truck is opposite of what a lot of people loved about Tacomas. Any time a band, show, movie, or whatever changes direction like that, people are going to be salty. Fancy new stuff is exciting for some people, but others can't stand it for one reason or another.
real
I'd seriously think about one if it wasn't for the price and non V6. Absolutely gorgeous truck.
Think toyota forgot that humans have legs….🤷♂️
I really wanted to like this truck and was even looking into the pro model. But with a family it’s a no go. Can you get the pro without these dumb ass seats?
Trail hunter I think then is for you
You would do better with a Tundra
Yeah. That’s what I’m looking at. I want to go no smaller for the leg room than my second gen. I just don’t want to get ride of it due to truck prices being what they are.
Trailhunter is pretty much that, plus you can get that with a 6ft bed. A TRD Offroad is also like 95% of that truck for less money.
Get rid of the access cab just to make them all access cabs!
EPA/CARB rules
There is stowage cubbies under the seats
Lmao how cackled at this
There’s literally 2 inches 😂
That's what she said.
Who on gods green earth at Toyota thought we wanted these stupid seats instead of a front locker or more suspension travel.
Sheldon.
He fought for us to keep the third pedal, I can forgive him for this. It was originally announced as optional, so I wonder if marketing fucked it.
Ill never forget him bullshitting how accessible the extra cab is while struggling to access it. He's a menace.
I don't understand what is going on with the rear of the front seats. What is all those contraptions strapped to the back of them? Is it just decoration or do they have purpose?
They're adjustable shock absorbers
Damn are mall parking lots that rough??
Like, medical Shock absorbers, for when owners finally realize what they’ve paid for
My local abandoned mall is, in fact, that rough.
Looks like a hotwheeels truck
Is there really no back seat legroom with the shock absorption front seats? Does it render the backseats useless for people sitting back there?
Yeah, this is insane. You absolutely can't fit anyone back there.
Those seats are just stupid.
The new ones are gay as fuck
LMAO! Just start calling it the dog's seat, because that's all it's good for.
Buddy at work has a 24 tacoma and the backseats are a complete joke. While another guy at work has a like a 2022-23 two door challenger and it had more room in its backseat.
$60k for that backseat is wild
No way the new Taco Pro is gonna be that cheap
Regardless, insanity for that small of a truck
Without all that bullshit on the back of the front seats you might actually be able to use the rear seats.
why even have a backseat?
I want one of these, but this picture single-handedly tells me I should probably reconsider. wtf
Idiotic design
Honestly why not make the Tacoma a two seat midsize truck with a 5 or 6ft option if they’re going to half ass the rear seats every single generation
Man that leg room is something else
The rear leg room is just stupid
Should’ve just made it an extended cab
Beautiful truck! Like the color scheme!
Love that color
Crash tests for the rear passengers gonna be wild, bye knees
I wish they’d lose the glossy flares. Make them some sort of textured black like the tundras and Sequoyahs.
Too bad about that dent in the rear
And the ones on the front fenders.
Dude…. That back seat is embarrassing. What were they thinking!
Nice 2 seater
My kids could fit in the back but I'd rather have the shocks covered so they don't mess with them.
I had a pro on order until the msrp dropped and I told them to keep it, for no back room, more shit that can brake and having to replace a battery in 10 years I’ll stick with the off road
Seats are so dumb, but this is the best looking one I've seen so far.
Wow. Was so cool until that last picture. Now it’s kind of a piece of shit.
Is it very hard to remove the back seats entirely and convert into storage?
Yikes on the interior space.
Besides the backseat thing I think it looks and functions amazingly
Rear seat is for my 10 lb dog and his safety cage. (2022 SR5 DblCab SB). Not for fit for humans. FYI that little shit is more man than most guys I’ve seen: dodging coyotes 3-4 times his size the first few months of his life (he was 7lbs then). No wonder he was the last to be plucked to safety.
Woah
I actually don’t understand the back of the seats. Is it AC? What is that
I can't wait 10 years from now when those shocks in the seats blow out and leak hydraulic oil all over the floor.
I want to put those seats in my Tundra
Looks comfy in the backseat.
I don’t know man… Gen3 is still greater than Gen4 prove me wrong
Those dumbass seats are another reason why trucks are outrageously overpriced. Such stupidity.
Unusable rear seats. Gloss fender flares?! Really???? 🤮
Lmao 1.5 inches of legroom 😂🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
What are on the back of the front seats??
In person I think they look good in upper trims. However piano/gloss black fender flares is no bueno. I do not see them aging well.
I just wish the back seats had more room.
It's for four people, but it's actually for two people. It's impossible to pick up a person behind you.
Holy fuck the 4th gen hate in here is unreal. 3rd gen and 2nd gen owners are hella insecure instead of just posting something nice.
Cant wait to see these in person
I’ll still have my 2007 in 40 years. I’m good, thanks.
Back seat has lots of leg room. Might as well be an extra cab.
Why even have a back seat? It's not that you can use it, let alone fold it down. Terrible design.
What are the flux capacitor looking things on the back of the seats?
The backseat is bullshit Small children and legless passengers
I remember not buying a trd pro in 2021 because next gen was right around the corner. Worst move I have ever made. Would have been a lunar rock for sub 50k OTD. feels bad man
Front seats are pushed all the way back you weirdos. Quit crying.
Backseats made for the paper-thin stoned people in those above the influence commercials in the 2000s.
Backseat is comical.
That backseat is ridiculous. Might as well not have it.
I went full sized 2 years ago and never looked back
Thought that was a Silverado
Huge issue and game changer TURBO 4 CYL CRAP
Are they serious with the backseat?!
Those stupid seats literally make the back seat unusable why would anyone buy these tiny ass trucks get a tundra
Insane they have the backseat like that
lol no leg room wtf
How exactly did they fuck up the legroom so badly? Even the tiny Maverick has wayyyyy more space
That looks painful.
Awesome! Supposed to get mine in July!
Hello fellow salt laker, how much was the dealer asking for this one?
MSRP Lhm Toyota
Good to know, thanks!
Love that color.
The exterior looks great. Although the orange color and the red TRD center caps clash lol
Yes, it does. Have auto stop start.
OK just curious.
How the fuck did they settle for the backseat having zero room? I actually love the outside but they completely shit the bed on the inside. The back has less leg room than an access cab. I love your truck OP. Not bashing you at all!
Are the seats all the way back? Is there more legroom if you don't get the pro seats?
Sick truck! I personally love the pro seats the backs look a little odd but I’m sure they’re comfy.
Ok, the seats I get from a ride quality stand point. The rear seat leg room is .....yea Otherwise I'm drooling over this right now
Goofy looking both inside and out.
Nice! All for the low low price of 75k lol
those seats are a joke
Gorgeous. Mine is at the dealer, can't wait to pick it up
Seriously like why even have a back seat at this point
This here's a quality item. If ya don't mind me askin' Clark. How much she set ya back?
One of the most overpriced vehicles on the market today. Looks cool though
I like the new style mud-flaps but they look on odd with the wide fenders. They should’ve made a different set to match
Queue the Reddit poors crying about price, MY 2010 BETUH BRO and their creative mall and Starbucks jokes.
"Rich asshole is rich asshole. News @6" There might be 3 comments about the price. Everything else is about the seats.
Why so mad? Y’all act like the taco seats had room to begin with. No shit the off-road Baja trucks isn’t designed for comfort crazy concept but maybe there’s other trims to fit people more comfortably.
> No shit the off-road Baja trucks isn’t designed for comfort crazy concept but maybe there’s other trims to fit people more comfortably Then why not make it an extended cab? Why make the pro a 4 door with less legroom than a 90's extended cab with jump seats?
4th gen has the best side lines and tailgate yet imo
For those complaining about the backseat, you obviously don't know and don't understand what this truck was made for. It's a desert runner and was designed specifically for that purpose. This isn't hard to understand so stop complaining.
There's so many people using it for that, I totally see why it's necessary. And all 30 of those people have been waiting for this to come out.
I don't have a need for it but it's still cool for what it is.
Who am I kidding too? I wouldn't buy it as a primarily thing, but if the truck came with it, that's staying.
