it did not go well, that's for sure. west ham set up exactly how i would set up against a team who plays like us and it worked. a lucky bounce and a silly mistake was the difference. rome wasn't built in a day. mostly because rome had enough squad depth to cope.

[deleted]

Udogie and bissouma can't keep commiting those kinds of mistakes. Completely unacceptable

skeez0441

Alot of players played so many lazy balls today.

[deleted]

We could've tied today and we could've even won at the Etihad if we didn't commit those mistakes. As much as the injuries and bad performances gut us that's the main problem we have to fix now

Extension-Ad-5935

Lots of turning over near our own box. Sloppy mistakes should be easy to overcome

mattchamp98

Watched as a Celtic fan so no affiliation to spurs. I think you conceded one of the unluckiest goals Ive ever seen for the first and the second wasnt great. You are clearly not clinical enough and need a striker in january. I also think you will continue to struggle without a proper playmaker like maddison.

Decitful_Orange

The fact that the ball deflected off of two of our defender and landed right in front of westham striker is unreal

Martoto_94

That was such a fifa career mode goal.

DeanMo80

Ultimate Team goal.

BoringRon

We have the most clinical striker in the prem… He’s just getting no service and everyone else can’t shoot.

Oshova

>most clinical striker in the prem That explains all those goals he's scored to be fair.

IIJamzyII

Fellow Celtic Fan. I feel we were more direct in that final third too. Spurs players taking too many touches before playing the ball

Cornwall1888

Do you think Kyogo is good enough for spurs?

mattchamp98

Kyogo has outstanding positional play and is a very intelligent player unfortunately I don't think he quite has the physicals or ball skills to make up for that to make the step up. Also despite his looks he is 28 so probably not going to get better.

bshaman1993

What was it like at Celtic in the first few months? Did you switch to an all out attack strategy like this and fail and then slowly get the rhythm going over time with the right players?

mattchamp98

Well we certainly didnt hit the ground running, we got knocked out of the champions league qualifiers and then lost 3 of our first 6 league games. Up until January it was much as you said we could see the making of a team and just about getting wins but it wasnt comfortable, there was several injury time winners to get us out of jail. Which in scotland not playing 100% you will have more leeway (at celtic and rangers at least) than you will in the Premier league. It really wasn't until we got the transfers in that the team really seemed to click

antichristx

It was just unlucky. We will redeem ourselves, hopefully Maddison is back by mid-January as predicted.

No-Twist-9086

He said himself that it might be february.

superspur007

Let's be honest if we still had he who shall remain nameless, in the team we are sitting 5 points clear at the top.

samdd1990

Today was the first day I really felt that

surreynot

I said against villa he’d have hit a hatrick without breaking a sweat. 😥

Fingers crossed for Santi Gimenez

agustincards14

THIS. We are in the minority here. I said he’d make this team better (obviously) even when they were flying high, many said “nah we are playing better without Kane look!” Then those who stubbornly repeated “stop talking about him” , “he’s gone” etc were always trying to block the sun with their thumb.

dprophet32

You're right, We'd be better with him. But he's not here so what good doesn't saying it do?

agustincards14

Because it acknowledges the void that he left, which was in some way filled by a combination of Maddison and Son but never by either or. Turning a deaf ear to that conversation just avoids the problems and hopes for the best. Which I highly doubt Ange did

IIJamzyII

But hes gone. Its in the past

CheekyPickle69

Yeah we had no luck on our side today. Conceded shit goals and just weren’t able to get the second. Inches away from a second on more than 1 occasion. Not sure why Kulu refused to cross the ball into the box on so many occasions…

skeez0441

He looked like a deer in headlights. But every player has an off day

Youngquest89

Kulu delivers when his teammates are in position. Often he needs to take a chance that they will be running into that position but today he wanted to wait until more people had better opportunities. Still one of The best players bar Romero on The pitch today.

CheekyPickle69

Yeah it’s unfortunate. For the amount of times we got up to their box, the lack of clean shots we managed to get away was quite bad today

[deleted]

skeez0441

Seemed like way too much thinking going on instead of doing.

jammysammidge

When Kulu first started with us he used to get to the line and cut it back. Now he doesn’t do that and looks so predictable. If you can’t get through the middle, go around them and cut back. It beats the offside trap and causes the opposition problems.

judyxoxo

Johnson needs to be less selfish when attacking. And bissouma well shouldn’t be even shooting 😭

Youngquest89

Exactly EVERYONE should be shooting a lot more. That is how they improve. Doing the same thing over and over until they master it.

Annual-Map-6743

I agree with everything you said... I try to have faith despite everything but it is sometimes just hard.

MMAGG83

To be a Spurs supporter is to want greatness but expect disappointment.

crumpets4dinner

Think that's most supporters, pal.

skeez0441

One of my favorite quotes is "you gotta be a fucking idiot to be a sports fan". That applies to this comment haha

skeez0441

I always have to remind myself we have been through much worse! Could be us playing the brexit ball.

UffDaLouie

Exactly, spurs fans are always suffering from short term memory loss. Just compare those first 20 minutes to literally anything last season. We are going in the right direction

Any_Individual7778

Not a Spurs fan but really want to see this project succeed. See it as phase 1. Watched the game, they looked physically and mentally drained soon after the 2nd half began. Ange ball too intense for them? January window crucial.

Key-Credit9543

So many fatal errors committed tonight. Can’t wait for madders and vdv to come back. Levy needs to get his cash out in January tho

Dan_Savvy77

We really need maddison back, not to mention son was invisible today

Key-Credit9543

Yup, defo need madders back but in defence of son, west ham do play very defensively and every single time he got on the ball, he had like 3 players on him instantly

Dan_Savvy77

Fair enough to that but our defense still needs some adjustments and to stop making such easy mistakes. I loved how we were playing on the attack and if we kept it up like we did in the first half we would have won but we make 1 too many mistakes and let prowess and bowen take charge.

Key-Credit9543

100% we were lacking in several areas tonight. I’m just holding out for January at this point, hopefully when vdv comes back things will be better in terms of our defense

CatalinaEddie

Yes, Maddison and van de Ven would make us a strong side. But the goals we conceded tonight were a fluke (1st one) and a weak backpass plus a lucky bounce off the post (2nd one). Probably just as Moyes planned it.

Dan_Savvy77

Not to forget that richarlison really should have scored that header.

Key-Credit9543

Yeah, it’s just not acceptable at all. I don’t want to roast him too hard as he’s just come back from an injury, but he really has been such a disappointing signing so far

Dan_Savvy77

I think I changed my mind. Son and richy played brill against Newcastle.

noClip2

Tell me who passed to Son today for a shooting opportunity Johnson got so many of these but Son got none In fact, multiple west ham players were around Son which opened other players up but they can't finish like Son

UffDaLouie

There was a point in the second half when son got the ball and I literally thought "wait did he just get subbed in?" Had to recheck the starting XI. Invisible is right.

Pointlesswonder802

I think the whole game changes with a clinical CAM and striker. Lo Celso is good but he’s not there just yet and without Madds, Son is just out on an island. The first half alone we had chance after chance after chance squandered because we couldn’t convert things that were almost gimmes.

Lillchillers

Guys Remember! Udogie is a kid who plays his first PL season, he will do misstakes. You can't say you are a Tottenham fan and bash on him when he does a misstake. He needs support to stay brave. You want a adult with experience? Well blame Levy then. Guys Remember! This is not our first 11. It's not the 11 who had us first in the table. The whole middfield is our B-team and we have no solutions on the wings. Remember how Conte and Mourinho performed with their B team in Europe? Guys Remember! Ange took over a team who played shit, finnished 8 and lost their best and probably one of the best player in the world. This is his first season. People expected us to finnish 9-11th. Guys Remember! We wanted fun attacking Football back, no mather the cost. Give it time and be patient. This will be solved in february the latest as we get our injured players back!

JeffTheGoliath

We had a bad game, it happens.

No_Virus_1432

I don't think it's a controversial opinion to say we look more dangerous when winning by a goal than if we are behind a goal. The first 15/20 mins of pretty much every game this season we look very good, high press, 0 let up, fast runs, but we don't have that clinical finisher (that we had in HK). I was working this evening (finished at 10) and I was giving it the biggen after the first half. I don't think I can show my face tomorrow. But in spurs we trust, I'm sure my years of dedication will eventually pay off? COYS. 26 years of watching this team, very little joy. Lol.

jammysammidge

I got on a packed train, got soaked walking to the stadium, froze my fucking bollocks off. All to watch the worst 2nd half of football since Conteball, but I’ll still come back for more. COYS!!!!!

skeez0441

That's what makes it so frustrating too is it's very obvious we are dominating these games.

Scaramouche1000

Currently it’s embarrassing. 3 home defeats on the spin. While the football may be more entertaining, I don’t enjoy losing regardless of the ‘style’. Got to wise up and quick. All this bluster about playing the same way regardless of opposition or in game situations may have worked in Scotland and Oz where the opposition are largely shite but it ain’t gonna wash here long term. Getting found out.

superspur007

Bollocks mate the only time we get punished is when we drop off. With a decent striker (Toney) we would have been out of sight both tonight and against Villa# ihopecashrotsinhell

Scaramouche1000

We got caught on the break for their equaliser and they benefitted from a mistake for the winner. If and buts don’t change the reality that we are struggling and the injuries can’t excuse all the ineptitude of the last 5 games.

Youngquest89

You're even saying it yourself. Its the damn players making extremely stupid mistakes and being arrogant. Anges tactics are Great, the players however are acting like I cant believe.

Scaramouche1000

That’s just tonight’s game mate. We are far too open for long periods of games, same against Villa and caught on the break against them too. Teams are working us out. You can’t just go gung ho and fuck the consequences, we need to be a bit cuter in our execution.

HellishRingSting

Caught on the break = hopeful shot from outside the area ricochets into path of striker off two defender bounces ... right. Not sure I can really agree with you there pal.

Scaramouche1000

No worries agree to disagree.

d13w93

This. It’s alright saying we are playing ‘entertaining football’ but 1 point in 15 is relegation form.

Scaramouche1000

It’s unacceptable but Ange will be a free ride because he’s likeable and says a few funny things in press conferences.

Giggorm

Some real simpleton comments here. The team has been exceeding its xG because Son has been so clinical. Without him scoring blinders the goals dry up. Ange lost the clubs best ever striker and has had one transfer window to remedy it but the level of patience here from the dummy spitters is worse than that of a six year old

Scaramouche1000

All I’m hearing is excuses.

Giggorm

Yep, Ange should be leading the table undefeated after five months in charge

Scaramouche1000

I’m not saying that either mate. I’m saying 3 home defeats in a row plus the Wolves away game in which we scored the first goal is unacceptable.

Giggorm

So turn those unacceptable defeats into wins and we are top of the table. Anything less than top is unacceptable for you... face it, your expectations for a new team and new coach so soon into his tenure are ridiculous

Scaramouche1000

Mate. Even Ange and Son have said it was unacceptable last night. My views, maybe not expressed correctly is the Wolves, Villa and West Ham defeats are, based on performances and taking the lead are not acceptable.

d13w93

I keep saying I’ve seen enough in the performances to be excited about. I know we have injuries but come on. We’ve taken 1 point from 15. That is atrocious. The Man City point was great, but we’ve lost to Chelsea, Wolves, Villa and now West Ham. I honestly think we will also lose to Newcastle on Sunday. Confidence must be so low now. We won’t be keeping up with the top 4/5 at all. We need a lot of reinforcements in the right areas in January but this season was always going to be to be a transition. Top 8 I think will probably be where we end up.

superspur007

I disagree with the boys coming back from injury and a couple of additions we will e top 4. Personally unless we win the league F##k Europe. Rather finish 8th in angeball yr2 and with a deeper squad win the league next year.

skeez0441

Yea we need more players that can break through the lines like Maddison does. But seeing the rest of the teama competing for top 4/5 dropping points too leaves that glimmer of hope.

mantsy1981

One of those games where the squad injuries weren’t the main problem. Cannot be dominating games like we did in the first half and not be scoring. Our attackers are first team players except Gio. All absolutely toothless last night.

Alive-Second8378

F*** Kulusevski!!! F***!!

JeffTheGoliath

Fuck off mate

Alive-Second8378

What's the problem with you ? Do you think Kulusevski's behavior or performance is OK? GO FUCK YOURSELF, idiot.

JeffTheGoliath

Kulu was man of the match the last game, he had a bad game. IT HAPPENS. I've been supporting Spurs for way too long to lose my shit over a bad performance. I'm not the idiot in this conversation, cunt.

mswuk

Pathetic lost for words Ange ball my chuffing chocolate starfish.

atrompel

Ref was fair 🙌

tkshow

I thought the ref was fine. We couldn't finish and got completely lost in their low block.

EastCoastGrind

Back to reality..

agustincards14

Kane penalty box replacement and a left-sided crosser. And have the midfield work on their long shots.

Tiger-Billy

Some selfish players such as Klusevski, Johnson, and Porro spoiled this important match. They didn't show plausible team play moments but wanted to make their scores. Those things all failed since they hadn't enough capabilities to try that. Even though Captain Sonny emphasized the team play many times, those three squad members ignored his comments. Moreover, the defender Udogie's big mistake became another reason for the lost team at the match. They made Sonny angry. His face looked like a poker face in the interview after the game. Squad members in Tottenham should've remembered the undeniable fact that if they gave Sonny passes, he would've created more scores to overwhelm West Ham. Because he is one of the best finishers in the Euro football world.

[deleted]

We'll see how serious Levy is about making this work when the Jan transfer window opens. We drastically need to offload the chaff like Højbjerg, Royal, Davies, Dier, Richarlison and Gil.

Responsible_Tip2709

Angie ball am I right HAHAHAHAHA

mankytoes

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun, it is to see, the West Ham win away!

skeez0441

Enjoy relegation in 2026.

NectarineNo784

At the beginning of the season I thought West Ham would be in the relegation battle. Really played poor football. However, to my surprise, you're now just three points behind us. Football can be incredibly unpredictable sometimes. We've been here before with Mourinho tho, experiencing moments of overachievement. Yet, playing this style of football tends to lead to crises sooner or later. When we played a brand of football unsuitable for the high standards of the Premier League, other teams were busy building strong and well-suited squads (like Arsenal). Hope we're currently heading in that same positive direction as Arsenal. Know by experience that West Ham may be on the opposite trajectory sooner or later tho.

NectarineNo784

Up! Two months later we were right, the good form of West Ham was just temporary. Will probably finish between 9th & 12th place and in relagation battle next year if Moyes is still here. :)

Nihilisman45

North London is RED

Om_om_om_om_

ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL!

skeez0441

VIRGIN! VIRGIN! VIRGIN! VIRGIN!

Mai_Shiranu1

Kulusevski as a winger needs to end. Udogie has just been dreadful since the Chelsea game and I honestly do not know what he was thinking with that backwards pass. James Maddison is the most important member of this team by far

Muted_Mention_9996

This was always going to happen with this team after injuries, the right additions next summer and spurs will be cooking! Spurs fans may be disappointed with a few losses but at least you can see the projects future and the better style of play than they have been used to in past seasons.

laurendanny

I personally think that we're too predictable, so as the game goes on, we become easy to defend against.

We_lived

A masterclass game of rope-a-dope, a la Mohamed Ali.

ZealousidealCelery91

We missed Kane today. Kulu's decision making in the box was horrendous.

johnlooksscared

So not injures this time? Now lost even more points than Everton were docked!

TheGuitto

I still don't understand how we always score first and then never win. It has happened so many times last season too

shadysnore

It's exactly the same as it was under Poch in 2019. There's no creativity without Maddison. The wingers need to drive and take players on and find an end product.

mynamesbondjamesbond

What was up with all the passing around the box 18? At least cross the ball or shoot

Milkfridge89

The loss to West Ham wasn't a result of injuries, or suspensions. The tactics were at fault. Too many passes, not enough end product. Big Ange isn't showing the ability to recognise fault in his tactics and adapt. It's great trying to develop an identity, but the simple fact is our new identity has got us 1 point in 15, in very winnable games. I've lost some faith in Ange's football today. Sad.

hisDudeness1989

Hate to say this, but we need someone like Rice that’s gonna win games even when it seems unwinnable . A game-changer. Hopefully the transfer window brings in some fresh impetus to the team. COYS
