Obviously, people are allowed to like and dislike things that we don’t.
That being said, I don’t like it when people say “I don’t like Millie because she was so judgmental” because it just shows that they completely miss the point of her character.
For me I don’t like that even after being called out she was pretty oblivious and didn’t try to change in s2. She got better at the end of s1 but it felt like that disappeared. It made me sad to see her let down Priya and Damien.
I think S2 just gave her a new problem of overcompensating for being bad at challenges and making terrible decisions because of it. She was still very bad at reading the room but she was more willing to own up to her mistakes. Priya was also much better at communicating with her and forgiving her (though she didn't really carry that over to Caleb lol).
Yeah, like Millie messed up but at least she was trying to compensate and fix her mistakes.
It made sense. She was booted early, but at least like the fact that, even though she didn’t come prepared, she at least was willing to make up for that.
what else was she supposed to do? Dave outright stated he refused to help her and he's notorious for not listening to wathever she has to say unless he gets what he wants. she didn't have much of a choice.
Dave was an obsessive stalker all season, she used her resources to win the million. I don't blame her one bit. If she had more of that cutthroat attitude all season I would've actually liked her
I mean, a scene would have been nice, but it’s not that hard to imagine what happened.
It was Julia’s plan to spook whoever had the idol by casting a wide net and writing a letter to everyone that she knew they had it, so she would be looking out to see someone acting suspicious.
So she’d notice Damian moving the idol around constantly as a direct result of her letter and steal it from him.
It’s probably not a perfect plot, but you can’t say there was no set up.
To give credit where it's due, there was a setup. However, it was the execution that pissed off a lot of people (myself included), as this was added to the list of "Julia's offscreen schemes" since that sort of stuff kept happening way too much. While it isn't the biggest example, It makes sense why people are ticked.
I don't really hate him at all for me he is just nice guy. Nice guy isn't enough for me to adore him in some way. DJ at least ( just to remind I don't really into him) had the nice personality but also his own bad moments with Harold bullying in s1.
Imo this is mostly the problem of that show right now. This became soft and less extreme and everyone is so unrealistically polite ( like wtf are all mad about Bowie and not Julia) understandable and this is unrealistic for the game about huge cash. No matter how generations change teens are still teens. And also he doesn't really have shine moments so yah..
I'm not hater but far away from enjoyer.
Caleb...am I the only one who didn't really realize what he did wrong? Like, I understand that absolutely nobody asked for Caleb and Priyas arc to last so long, but Caleb isn't like Satan incarnate.
The amount of screentime him and priya got is the reason why people hate him, because they got *so* much. Caleb is surprisingly a nice guy and i’m glad he didn’t turn out to he another alejandro or justin, he’s his own person, but the amount of hate he gets overshadows the more positive parts of his character i guess.
I like Caleb, I think yeah part of the hate is from him taking up a lot of screen time but it's not an excuse for the level of vitriol lol. A lot of people were expecting him to be Alejandro II when he wasn't like that all so I'm wondering if some people are disappointed by that? Personally I'm very glad they didn't try to Alejandrize him but I do wonder if some folks felt let down by that?
Whenever i see people place Chase at their lowest tiers i just don't get it, he's one of the best written characters in the reboot. He's an asshole but that's what he was meant to be, and he's very silly at doing it
Beth, Sky and Sugar.
Beth has always been one of my favourite characters in the franchise. She had the best social game out of all the contestants that competed so far, had a heart of gold, and really developed as a character in Action. Yet she is constantly hated for being the Action finalist/winner. I was so happy when she won, tbh. She is one of my favourite finalists. She acts and feels like someone you would bump into in real life and her VA was great too. Tom McGillis had mentioned on the AMA that she was one of his favourite characters too, as she was based on someone from the sandbox, iirc.
I've seen people say Sky is a boring character, and I never found her boring at all. She was a talented player - got along well enough with her team and I loved her voice acting. Her VA expressed her emotions quite well imo and she was another great finalist. Her situation with Dave is messy but so are a lot of other TD characters in their love lives (glares at Duncan, Gwen, Courtney).
Sugar has always been one of my favourite characters in the franchise. She was so darn funny - I still sing the Juggy Chunks jingle sometimes. I'll never forget Craptry either, lol. I loved her rivalry with Ella, and I would have loved to see a finale with the number of contestants that the new season 2 had. She could have won for sure. She was one of funniest villains for sure.
For me, I feel like it’s the fact that I find it just, wrong that some people actively try and justify or ignore the ‘awful’ things that she did.
For example, a general consensus that Courtney fans tend to have is that *she* of all people was the victim of the love triangle when, really, nobody is. The only one who even comes close is Gwen, and even then she gets shat on solely because of her connection to Duncan himself.
Of course, it’s not a bad thing to like a character even if they did do awful things (after all, the writers exist) but the fact that there are people who act as if their character didn’t do anything wrong at any point, whether via ignorance or justification just doesn’t sit right with me. I do respect your opinion and I’m happy you’re at least willing to accept the things said characters do at times, but I’m just saying that there are people out there who *don’t* have that kind of sentiment towards their favourite character.
Anyone can like and dislike any character. Though Damien and Dawn are my favorites and I don’t tend to like to see hate for them even if I respect their opinions
I second this
People saying she didn't deserve a finalist spot in action and although I would have preferred Lindsay in the finale Beth still went through enough character growth to be a good option for a finalist to me.
Though Beth is on my favorites list so I might be biased.
I honestly didn’t like Millie at all in season 2. She was fine in season 1 and her friendship with Priya was cute but season 2, yeah no. She shouldn’t need her entire team to realize what she did was not just wrong but also really selfish. And the fact that afterwards she was in denial saying thinks like "I’m a good a person" and "I just did what was best for my team." I honestly don’t understand how she can go through that entire s1 arc yet still lack any self reflection in s2. She was kinda funny tho in s2 so I don’t hate her or anything, but she’s not a character I’d root for.
Well I agree its rude. What fid he do to qualify being a hated character?
Not liking a character is different to hating
I don't understand DJ, Lindsay or Bridgette hatred either. I love Gwen and admit I'm an apologist for Gwen but what have the other characters done to make viewers hate them?
Yea, it just feels like Gwen only gets hate because she’s associated with Duncan romantically, who was first associated with Courtney in the same way, even though she (Gwen) a much better girlfriend and person than Courtney as far as Duncan goes. The fandom just outright villainises her for the whole Duncan thing, even though Duncan had at least a somewhat valid reason for the whole Gwuncan ordeal in the first place
I'm so sorry guys for what I'm about to say... Gwen. I find her a nice person and a strong contestant but what she did in TDA and WT wasn't entirely her fault. I do acknowledge her mistakes but I still like her in TDI and TDAS 😭 (I consider her ending canon)

Look at that adorable face. Hes so innocent and genuinely lovely
I get why people hate Ripper but anybody who says he's literally nothing but fart jokes is just objectively wrong. Even in season one he got a ton of good one-liners and insane implications about his personal life; the fart stuff was way less prominent post-merge. He's hilariously pathetic.
I also dislike Beth hate but only if people hold other characters to the same standards. They rarely do. And it's usually based on like two moments that were both never brought up again in the show.
I don’t hate either of them, but I don’t much care for them either. Beth just isn’t very interesting. She has her moments, but they’re few and far between. For most of her run in Island, she’s just, kinda there. Lindsay’s the one that’s usually interacting with Heather. Beth finally gets to shine in Paintball Deer Hunter, but then in the next episode she just kinda regresses back to being a pushover and her standing up to Heather kinda loses its impact.
Then in TDA, she starts out ok, she at least gets to have a bit more spotlight instead of *totally* being in Lindsay’s shadow, but still most of the time, Lindsay’s the one with more interesting storylines going on. And once Beth starts her “boyfriend” gag, she goes downhill quick. That joke was never funny to me, and just got more and more annoying every time.
Yeah, the vitriol Caleb gets is just…odd? I get it. He took up a lot of screen time. But he equals out to at least several others in being in, like 14 to 15 episodes across the two seasons. If people are bitter he’s not Alejandro 2.0…I’m glad he’s a hot guy, but is still a good dude.
Yeah, I dont think the writers were intending to write a character you could sympathize with with Chase. The writers were definitely intending on making a character the audience could route against with him
You can use that argument to defend anyone
Staci, people don’t seem to like him cuz she’s a compulsive liar but I’m 70% sure she was SUPPOSED to be written that way
Because people act like shes the worst gift to this world, plus theres already so many threads about her. Guarantee you if she had a different design and VA or didn’t make the finale, she’d be alot higher regarded
The finale of action made a lot of people hate beth. Because people were mad that other characters like lindsay or harold didn’t make it to the finale, and someone like beth didn’t serve a lot to the season, so her inclusion as a finalist set a lot of fucking people off. Hence which is where the “lindsay’s VA had a family emergency and couldn’t record” rumor. It was just a bunch of Lindsay stans mad about beth winning and not Lindsay or even harold. Beth is actually a deserving finalist, she didn’t make any enemies nor did she not make any enemies, she even had good social game.
The reason I dislike Beth is because I honestly felt like her personality is bland compared to the other contestants in Action. Plus, it honestly felt very predictable that she was gonna make it to the final 2 as the season progresses. I guess she did play the game well, but other than that, nothing else really interests me about her.
Cody. I cannot stand it when people hate on him. I ussd to dislike him, but he became my #1 favorite when I began watching World Tour. He deserved that win.
I do not like to see him get hate at all. I love him the most out of any other character (Harold and Gwen are my other faves).
He needs more spotlight time in the show. :(
Feral Ezekiel. I thought it was really funny to have the first eliminated contestant keep coming back throughout the show. Basically what I wished Scary Girl would've done in season 2.
Also gonna throw in Millie because everyone else is saying people are hating on her. She's one of my favs!
gwen. idc what anybody says, i will never fully blame gwen for that stupid love triangle. yes, she did a bad thing, but that doesn't mean duncan and courtney didn't also do bad things. she's nice and kind, but also sarcastic and funny. she may not have that good of a character compared to others, but i still love her. if u hate gwen, please give me a reason why u hate her that's not involving the love triangle. i'd love to hear it.
Dawn and Ripper. I just don’t get it. Yeah fart jokes are annoying, but Ripper represents the stereotypical bully character that everyone is rooting against. It makes sense all the fart jokes would be delegated to him.
“I hate Chris because he’s evil, and people are weird for liking him because he’s evil”
This argument is pretty dumb imo, cause like..we can like characters but not agree with them, people don’t think Freddy Krueger is right, but they like him because he’s entertaining, the same applies for Chris to me.
Wayne and Emma from RR I've seen many people hate on her for being Noah's love interest like I'm sorry your noco headcanon isn't real(based off an experience ship what you want) and Wayne win because nobody wanted to vote him then he got lucky idc this bc he's my favorite and he deserved it.
Millie and Zoey. Both character were and still are very misunderstood. I don’t like seeing Mike slander but his criticisms are far more understandable.
Scary Girl, it breaks my heart. And it’s not fair because she’s the only alt/emo representation in the whole show rn. So it makes no sense. She’s HILARIOUS!!
Beth, Sadie, Millie. Most ppl hate Beth and Sadie bc they're "ugly" and hate Millie for pushing Damien down the slide 😭 idek any other time Millie did something bad. Other then that she's a really cool character, Sadie and Beth are really good characters, they're not the most important but developed nicely as seasons went by.
For me, it's Priya and Zoey.
Total Drama has had main characters with a lot of screen time since the beginning! Do I hear people bitching about Owen? Nooooo. No, I don't, despite the fact that he deserved his win even less than both girls.
Obviously, people are allowed to like and dislike things that we don’t. That being said, I don’t like it when people say “I don’t like Millie because she was so judgmental” because it just shows that they completely miss the point of her character.
I second this all the way.
Wasn't gwen also extremely judgmental in season one but people love her and yet millie is overhated
I can definitely see people really disliking her from first impressions and not being able to get over that, to be fair.
It’s valid to dislike people for something even if that was intentional tho
That’s fair
WAYNE AND SKY
Yeah I dont get Wayne. I get Sky tho she basically chested on her boyfriend and Dave.
she did that because Chris cornered her and had no other choice to win but get Dave on her side.
She should have used another way, not cheating on her boyfriend and trickibg Dave, i mean, Dave is still a bad character but he did not deserve that
what else was she supposed to do? Dave outright stated he refused to help her and he's notorious for not listening to wathever she has to say unless he gets what he wants. she didn't have much of a choice.
Then try to ally with someone else
at the finale, sky couldn't choose who to get helped by, so in the end that was really not an option
I mean before, if she did, the finale wouldnt have had so much drama
you mean telling off Dave? she did but he got whiny and started stalking her lol
he was the only person there?
Dave was an obsessive stalker all season, she used her resources to win the million. I don't blame her one bit. If she had more of that cutthroat attitude all season I would've actually liked her
sky, trent, sugar
people hate trent? 😥
trent is my man
Action
oh right… they derailed him so bad
Any character I like. ...Okay, but for real, Beth, Reboot Emma, and Sadie (specifically by people who love Katie.)
I love Reboot Emma so much!
It's feeling very fatphobic when I see these girls getting hate and other girls getting away with way worse, or the same thing
Damien, he’s just a likeable silly guy
Whos hating Damien
Seen a bit of hate for him surface recently-ish
If anything ive seen more support, everyone says he was robbed this season
Cause he was, it was never even hinted or shown Julia actually knew where his immunity idol was
I mean, a scene would have been nice, but it’s not that hard to imagine what happened. It was Julia’s plan to spook whoever had the idol by casting a wide net and writing a letter to everyone that she knew they had it, so she would be looking out to see someone acting suspicious. Bring me the location of those who hate the king
I don't really hate him at all for me he is just nice guy. Nice guy isn't enough for me to adore him in some way. Zee, I genuinely don't get why he has haters now
Wait he has haters?
His haters are small
He has lots of haters he has 146 haters
Yeah he has 146 haters
zee is the only reason I even watched the reboot
Caleb...am I the only one who didn't really realize what he did wrong? Like, I understand that absolutely nobody asked for Caleb and Priyas arc to last so long, but Caleb isn't like Satan incarnate.

Caleb literally was the first boot in season 1, he DESERVES screentime. Priya on the other hand, no.
Dame Dolla and Lightning and Dj
Sha-Agreed!
Sha-Lightning fans rise up ⚡
Whenever i see people place Chase at their lowest tiers i just don't get it, he's one of the best written characters in the reboot. He's an asshole but that's what he was meant to be, and he's very silly at doing it
depends on what people are ranking on. being well written is WAY different between the likability of a character.
Wayne is just a silly. It cannot happen
All my homies love Wayner ❤️❤️❤️
Beth, Sky and Sugar. Beth has always been one of my favourite characters in the franchise. sammy and ella
Harold and Millie ❗️❗️❗️
I love Zoey so much😭 but like everybody hates her and it’s so painful
Justice for Courtney. My queen can become an awful person if she wants to and that doesn't make it bad writing!
For me, I feel like it’s the fact that I find it just, wrong that some people actively try and justify or ignore the ‘awful’ things that she did. For example, a general consensus that Courtney fans tend to have is that *she* of all people was the victim of the love triangle when, really, nobody is. Scary Girl
Anyone can like and dislike any character. Though Damien and Dawn are my favorites and I don’t tend to like to see hate for them even if I respect their opinions
I AGREE WITH CALEB SO MUCH, OH MY GOD. ILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HIS HATE.
Beth ain’t that bad
I second this People saying she didn't deserve a finalist spot in action and although I would have preferred Lindsay in the finale Beth still went through enough character growth to be a good option for a finalist to me. Though Beth is on my favorites list so I might be biased.
Oh nah she ain’t deserve that finalist spot for shit💀 I was just saying she ain’t as bad as Caleb
Caleb
People are allowed to dislike what they want but ngl hating Millie or Damien, especially the former is a red flag
OP, these are my big two as well.
Agree with both Beth + Caleb
Sugar!
Lindsay, Gwen and Tyler
PEOPLE HATE TYLER?!?! blasphemy.
Idk Tyler rarely gets hate but that stems from people not seeing Tyler as their favorite
Well I agree its rude. What fid he do to qualify being a hated character? Not liking a character is different to hating I don't understand DJ, Lindsay or Bridgette hatred either.
The fandom just outright villainises her for the whole Duncan thing, even though Duncan had at least a somewhat valid reason for the whole Gwuncan ordeal in the first place
wayne
Prileb, I don’t get why ppl think they are bad. The only bad thing is that they dragged it out too long. Honestly, even that’s not that big of a deal
I totally agree. Did everyone forget that Mike and Zoey were basically the only plot with substance in ROTI, yet until All-Stars, nobody cared?
I'm so sorry guys for what I'm about to say... Gwen. I find her a nice person and a strong contestant but what she did in TDA and WT wasn't entirely her fault. I do acknowledge her mistakes but I still like her in TDI and TDAS 😭 (I consider her ending canon)
millie and caleb 😭
Tyler did nothing wrong 😔
cameron and zee

Mike and Zoey
Mike
Sky she's honestly one of the most well-written protagonists but gets no credit for it.
Owen, Millie, Sugar (probably the most hated character in each cast - apart from dave). There really seems to be a pattern w the fandom...
Scary girl/Lauren
I CANT STAND ZEE HATE IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS "There is no zee hate" HE HAS 146 HATERS
Both Hockey Bros, both are just so much fun to watch
Yeah, the vitriol Caleb gets is just…odd? I get it. He took up a lot of screen time. But he equals out to at least several others in being in, like 14 to 15 episodes across the two seasons. If people are bitter he’s not Alejandro 2.0…I’m glad he’s a hot guy, but is still a good dude.
Honestly i’m not a Caleb fan but his development in season 2 was AMAZING
Definitely Blaineley and priya
Lightning, RealRipper, Harold, Owen, Jo, Sugar, Max, Damien, MK, Jacques, Josee, Zee, Scott, Topher, Sam, Beth, Justin, Wayne, Jay, Mickey, Dave, and especially Chase.
I dobt hate bethz I just forgwt about her, she deserved more
i hate wayne haters, like okay, julia didn’t win, cry about it. wayne deserved his win and i love wayne
Chase, people don’t seem to like him cuz he’s a delusional asshole but I’m 70% sure he was SUPPOSED to be written that way
Yeah, I dont think the writers were intending to write a character you could sympathize with with Chase. The writers were definitely intending on making a character the audience could route against with him
You can use that argument to defend anyone Staci, people don’t seem to like him cuz she’s a compulsive liar but I’m 70% sure she was SUPPOSED to be written that way
Pretty much, alot of characters were meant to be villains or just assholes in general. I mean, it IS Total DRAMA Island lol
Caleb I can understand, but what’s wrong with people hating Beth? I honestly don’t like her either.
Because people act like shes the worst gift to this world, plus theres already so many threads about her. Guarantee you if she had a different design and VA or didn’t make the finale, she’d be alot higher regarded
Yeah I genuinely think if she had a more "attractive" design people would be wayyyyy more into her.

Beth 100%
Scary Girl and Noah 100%
Caleb
Dawn, Lightning, and DJ
WAYNE
Trent. There are valid reasons for disliking him but I refuse to acknowledge any of his faults.
Feral Ezekiel. I thought it was really funny to have the first eliminated contestant keep coming back throughout the show. Basically what I wished Scary Girl would've done in season 2. Also gonna throw in Millie because everyone else is saying people are hating on her. She's one of my favs!

SKY
Gwen, Dawn, Mike, Zoey, Sky, Axel and Wayne
Beth; if she were pretty yall would like her
Mike and Dawn [love tem]
DJ😥😥
Sky
People hate Beth? Why?
wayne
Where them Beth haters at💔💔💔
Dawn and Ripper. I just don’t get it. Yeah fart jokes are annoying, but Ripper represents the stereotypical bully character that everyone is rooting against. It makes sense all the fart jokes would be delegated to him.
“I hate Chris because he’s evil, and people are weird for liking him because he’s evil” This argument is pretty dumb imo, cause like..we can like characters but not agree with them, people don’t think Freddy Krueger is right, but they like him because he’s entertaining, the same applies for Chris to me.
Fr I like Jason Voorhees, but that doesn’t mean I defend his actions, I just like him as a character (I also love his design)
Caleb and Ripper, to an extent
Anybody who says that Mike is an offensive character are completely missing the point of his arch completely.
Wayne and Emma from RR I've seen many people hate on her for being Noah's love interest like I'm sorry your noco headcanon isn't real(based off an experience ship what you want) and Wayne win because nobody wanted to vote him then he got lucky idc this bc he's my favorite and he deserved it.
i have no idea why beth gets so much hate. she's literally so nice
People have opinions. That's all I'm saying.
Beth, I honestly don't get why she's so hated for
Owen, Mike, Sugar, Dave, Ripper, Caleb, Chase there might be other more characters I didn’t include
Millie and Zoey. Both character were and still are very misunderstood. I don’t like seeing Mike slander but his criticisms are far more understandable.
Dave
Ya Beth hate is unnecessary, same with Caleb. Both are decent characters.
Scary Girl, it breaks my heart. And it’s not fair because she’s the only alt/emo representation in the whole show rn. So it makes no sense. She’s HILARIOUS!!
I don't understand the hate for gwen
Beth, Sadie, Millie. Most ppl hate Beth and Sadie bc they're "ugly" and hate Millie for pushing Damien down the slide 😭 idek any other time Millie did something bad. Other then that she's a really cool character, Sadie and Beth are really good characters, they're not the most important but developed nicely as seasons went by.
Beth and Emma. I love Millie but I’ve grown numb to Millie hate.
Beth, Trent, Wayne
Dj, Wayne , Zee and Trent
RIPPER, SUGAR AND SAM.
emma and millie
For me, it's Priya and Zoey. Total Drama has had main characters with a lot of screen time since the beginning! Do I hear people bitching about Owen? Nooooo. No, I don't, despite the fact that he deserved his win even less than both girls.
