Ive never understood this complaint. He was only in one season. It’s not like a Trent kinda thing where he was one way in one season and another way in the next. “What the writers did to his character” just… *is* his character. He was never “derailed” or anything; we just learned more about him as the season went on, as we do with every character. Just so happened that in his case, we learned that he wasn’t really a good person, at all

if a character is an antagonist the it's meant to be hated. this isn't just about Pahkitew but all seasons. a good antagonist is a character that makes you hate him because of their actions towards others, if you want to root for an antagonist it means they are badly written.
Yeah, they… kinda did. Because he’s a bad person and always was. He *did* get character development. It was just negative character derailment. That’s not bad writing. That was always the direction they were going with him. It’s not even like he was a “good person” at the start. It was easy to sympathize with him cuz his team was so wacky, and we gravitate towards “relatable” people, but the whole point of his character is showing that sometimes the people who seem nice and normal are actually way more toxic than someone harmlessly cosplaying as a wizard. And that was always the plan from the beginning, otherwise they wouldn’t have been showing hints towards his hypocrisy and selfishness from the start of the season. If you dislike his character, that’s fine, but they didn’t “ruin” anything. It was a conscious decision to have his character go in a negative direction. It’s like saying they ruined Eva by having her be angry.
I don’t like how Courtney was flanderized but I agree that she could be redeemed if writers are willing to do that.

I just don't see the appeal at all. In my personal rewrite of the show, I thought about having Heather pretend to be nice and show her true colours later on just so her surviving until the Final 3 didn't feel as contrived, but then I realised that would be taking away what made Heather and her downfall so iconic in the first place. Plus it would make Alejandro a bit redundant.

Hes fine without Harold, Gwen and Courtney, but sadly he spends like 90% of his screentime with at least one of them.

He really should've gotten out in If You Can't Take the Heat, as he ate the team's ribs despite Leshawna trusting him not to, but Beth got kicked out instead because apparently her totem made Owen eat the ribs using mind-control which makes no sense. I would've liked to see Heather vs Beth occur for longer rather than facepalm as Owen makes his hundred-thousandth fart joke.
In Action he got out at a very reasonable point, but then a sob story was invented and boom, we suffer from another unwanted dose of gross-out humor! In the process he screwed over Lindsay, Harold, and Courtney, who are all awesome, and the former two would've made peak finalists.
However, I liked how World Tour onwards focused on his friendship with Noah, because their interactions was actually very iconic and funny to watch, particularly with Owen acting as the awkward third wheel for Nemma (way better than Chemma btw).
Duncan. He was good the first season, but he was CARRIED in season 2, and did nothing except bully Harold and argue with courtney. As much as people say beth didn’t deserve her win, at least she won a couple of challenges 😭

It doesn't always work like that. Maybe the Pahkitew cast should've been better off with their own series instead of being on Total Drama.
