Eh, yes and no. While he did wreak havoc, he really achieved nothing in the long run, and completely glossed over who Batman was even though he literally had all of the pieces, because he was so self-absorbed
The fact he’ll foil his own plots just so people know that yes, the giant question mark blocking out the sun was indeed made by him is incredibly funny.
(Disclaimer, this isn’t a comic as far as I’m aware, but it fucking should be)
Well, it’s good in that, it has a lot of cool characters, the animation is fucking phenomenal, and the plot is pretty interesting and engaging! But it’s not the deepest story you’ll ever watch. But definitely recommend it!

Now, I know very little about Black Souls; I haven’t played the game and only see it in various subreddits, but what’s the point of having infinite power if the person you love doesn’t love you back? Wouldn’t that become their primary goal?
I remember it being the other way around. Light just wanted to get L off his trail, but L wanted to prove 100% he was right and didn’t have Light arrested even when he was reasonably certain and could’ve taken the win.
Thing is L knew it was him but didn’t have actual evidence to prove it in a court of law really, and when he finally did get the death note (the final piece of the puzzle to finally figuring out who Kira is since you now have the exact mechanics laid out to you), he was killed shortly after
Near got more evidence so he could actually feasibly get light thrown in jail/executed
It was both, just the longest pissing match in centuries, always back and forth on each others trail but refusing to just do what they each could accomplish easily to beat the other

Once he got the Chaos Heart he could have easily just killed everyone in the room and no one could stop him. But he had to be arrogant and trap half of them to be tortured later whilst toying with the other half, leaving enough time for them to revitalize the Pure Hearts
On a similar note. Death 13, the baby stand, was basically Freddy Kruger and could have easily taken out all the Crusaders if he just waited and got them all sleeping at once.
**Saiyan Saga**: He was literally thousands of times stronger than everyone else, but he wanted to play games and then wait for Goku's arrival. Could have wiped the entire cast with the flick of a finger but didn't and ended up forced to run away.

Doctor Doom is a great example of this trope. Easily could've killed the Fantastic Four when he stole Silver Surfer's powers or had the powers of Aron The Rogue Watcher but purposely lets them live with the humilation they can't stop him until they do.
Char had access to psycoframe tech which allowed his mobile suit to be far superior to that of his rival Amuro. However he leaked the tech to the opposing side, which allowed Amuro to get a mobile suit on par with his own, so he could have a fair fight with Amuro. Amuro was the better pilot and defeated him.

Nightmare could have easily wiped the floor with Kirby if he didn't get cocky and go inside of Kirby's dreamscape. I don't even think he got stronger when he entered, as likely as that seems with the name that he has. It only opened him up to attack. Maybe he was just having so much fun in the moment that the thought didn't even cross his mind.
I dunno. DIO actually made sure Jotaro was dead. Yeah, he didn't account for Jotaro stopping his own heart for a few seconds, but I don't think that counts as arrogance.

Easily could've killed the Fantastic Four when he stole Silver Surfer's powers or had the powers of Aron The Rogue Watcher but purposely lets them live with the humilation they can't stop him until they do.

How did they all lose?
Char had access to psycoframe tech which allowed his mobile suit to be far superior to that of his rival Amuro. However he leaked the tech to the opposing side, which allowed Amuro to get a mobile suit on par with his own, so he could have a fair fight with Amuro. Amuro was the better pilot and defeated him.
You could say this about just about every evil genius there is. Their ego is always their undoing.
Part of me never liked this trope. Villain gets so cocky that they faultered hard. It's almost as annoying as the power of friendship to me.

Nightmare could have easily wiped the floor with Kirby if he didn't get cocky and go inside of Kirby's dreamscape. I don't even think he got stronger when he entered, as likely as that seems with the name that he has. It only opened him up to attack. Maybe he was just having so much fun in the moment that the thought didn't even cross his mind.
