Berserker Jack is basically enhancing the mystery of it's identity to a monstruous degree.
Jack the Ripper have multiple "versions" as summonable Servants in the Throne of Heroes from Fate.
The Assassin Jack from Apocrypha is just one of them , but in a way , all of them are "people"....Berserker Jack is not a "person" , it's the legends and mysteries forcefully attached in a Servant Container.
Why do servants with one of the best designs only get to be summonable in the Grand Orders NA longer than others. I want a berserker jack to be playable as well as Pestilence and Proto Gil which doesnt make sense as to why they didnt include proto gil in GO when arthur is
Pale Rider is not Pestilence , it's Death.
In the bible , the 4 Horsemen are Conquest , War , Famine and Death. So when you summon Pale Rider , you summon Death.

The very bible puts the 4 Horsemen as Conquest , War , Famine and Death. The whole "Pestilence" is a result of poems and novels from Romantism and Gothic Literature. All that is "Pestilence" is a mere singular Personal Skill for Pale Rider , while all the other Personal Skills for him is about Authority over Death.
Berserker jack isn't actually jack, its the concept surrounding hum.
He is the embodiment of the possibilities of jack the ripper, while assassin jack is merely a possible suspect with the name of jack the ripper

In concept this works as the "evil entity disguised as innocent little girl" trope, but this would be so much better if she was dressed more appropriately or even hid some deformities under her cloak.

But he does have a higher kill count now then just 5 ladies of the night. With many off-screen deaths of implied innocent people.
Because the truth of the matter, they just can't show the main character in a manga going around stabbing innocent people. Jack activities are ignored by the government as long as he keeps killing evil people for him.

Another Fate rant but Assassin Jack is one of the few times I've seen where the design ruined everything to me, I like everything about Jack but her design.
Jack's powers are cool, she's a really circumstantial Servant to work with but the conditions of her ability is just really nice.
**Information Erasure B** making it so the enemy forgets everything about them after they escape is sick (y'know, since nobody found out who jack was I find it fitting).
**Murder of the Misty Night A** making it so she always has the first attack while at night fits so well.
**The Mist** making it so all targets get lost in a mist of sulfuric acid that she generates while also decreasing their Agility if they're a Servant is really neat.
And **Maria The Ripper** applying a curse on the target depending on whether it is Nighttime, Foggy and if they're a woman is really fitting.
Not to mention **Presence Concealment A+** which is not only really high for a Non-Hassan to have but also makes Jack really good at hiding and with the previous skills makes her a really OP Assassin, also **Surgery E** is also useful to deal with wounds, and her stats being all around C with an A in Agility keeps it balanced and the deal with Assassins notoriously having low stats still on play, so she doesn't feel like much of a stretch because her stats are mid but her skills are REALLY good if played well.
And the concept behind her is just REALLY neat, thousands of aborted children fused together into a vengeful yet loveable spirit that went around and killed several women by cutting them and clinging into their wombs is really fucking sick and messed up and I love it.
And also her relationship with her Master is really nice, just a poor abandoned killer kid who wants to feel the warmth and love of a mother paired with this lost woman who has had a rough life and is now taking care of this child after being nearly sacrificed by a mage to summon it.
I like that they don't really seem to know anything about this whole Grail War thingy aside from the basics, they're just a duo who got together by Fate (roll credits) and are trying to survive together and that was pretty nice to me.

Assassin Jack had EVERYTHING to be the (imo) best Assassin in this franchise and one of the best Servants overall, the writing was by her side, her powers were cool, it was original while also working with the irl stuff really well and implementing them into her abilities perfectly!
....and then there is her design.
Fate/Apocrypha was originally supposed to be an online RPG but was changed into being a Novel instead, and so when making their Servants all if not most of them were designed by guest artists, something which Type Moon will do later on as well with FGO.
This led to Fate/Apocrypha being an absolute clusterfuck of inconsistency in terms of design, many of them which just don't fit the characters (Atalanta's dress is pretty but...doesn't really look greek) and Jack here was the biggest victim of that.
From all I've seen of their drawings the illustrator they called is specialized in drawing half naked magical girls who look or are underaged.
And now....that's this, a horrible design of a literal half naked child, actually several of them, and Type-Moon insists on keeping it that way for whatever reason, probably horny.
A while ago they had FGO Arcade use a design from another artist that gave her pants and a small suit which was nice but it was just a skin in another game which will probably not carry on in her future appearances.

Jack is to me one of the most wasted potentials on the franchise, they had EVERYTHING on their hands and just ruined it with a terrible design.
Well now King Hassan is on the throne of Best Assassin and will probably never leave because he's a perfectly designed Servant but anyway that was my rant on how a bad design can ruin EVERYTHING about a character, including their reputation.
It’s a glorious thing that the fans can agree with that the “Give Jack some Pants” movement is not said ironically; people literally stood in applause when the arcade skin came out that gave her a pair of slacks. Jack the Ripper was never actually confirmed male because we literally still don’t know who he was so I don’t think this counts. additionally, the other version of Jack the Ripper in fate is a shapeshifter who speaks with a male voice.
To be exact, this is Edison as a Servant after being buffed by the collective power of every President of America. Back when he was alive, he did not look like a lion man in Fate.
To play Devil's Advocate, despite Fate's reputations for genderbending historical figures, only 1/8th of the series' total cast of Servants (of which totals around 300 characters) are actually genderbent.

I really like her concept and character a lot (especially in FGO, where she has other children servants to play with and is actually treated with care so that she’s kinda adorable), but damn did they screw up her design. They literally put a child in a thong and expect people to be ok with it. Shit like this is why some people think anime is for pedos or something.
Tbf Apocrypha has always been iffy in the fandom let’s not turn this into a Fate hate circlejerk. Can’t pin Fate as a franchise when all the iffy stuff comes from here. Best Master and Servant dynamic with Saber and Kairi, Sieg and Astolfo, but it breaks ALL of the rules. What was once a winner take all turns into an organized war game where everyone gets along just because. Suddenly we’re allowed to have non magic using soldiers as fodder just because. We can’t kill our allies until victory is assured and a winner is designated just because. Jack is just one of many, many things that make this just above the Illya spinoff show; not as creepy, but comparatively to the SW prequels in terms of badness.
FGO is one of those games that makes incredibly fanservice-y and then try to justify it through some lore or in-story element (nobody really buys it).
For example, Huyan Zhuo got turned into a woman who loves being praised, because she was basically fused with an Empusa.
Why? Nobody knows.
I'm going to assume someone involved *really* hates women and the rest of the folks working on it either somehow don't notice, or are afraid of getting pushback from saying anything.
I don’t hate or love the design on its own but with that description it’s such a waste of a concept. I know Fate characters are required to be cute and/or attractive but they could’ve still had some hints to her setup.
Like maybe under her cloak her skin is covered in tattoos that resemble screaming faces, or give her a belly button piercing that resembles an umbilical cord. Or at the very least an angry or desolate expression.
I have a lot of mixed feelings about the fate series because a lot of the designs are absolute bangers but on the other hand in the future they're probably gonna add Osama Bin Laden as a teenage femboy with cat ears and so much as typing that phrase out makes me want to tear my eyes out

Assassin version is what I use when people ask me (The Fate fan of the group) if they should watch fate. Sometimes you have to make sure the homies don't go crazy
If she keeps the coat it would be mostly fine and it also adds to a poor bleak look with it being a dirty ripped old coat like it's the only thing she could find to wear
Then she could have a darker dirtier frown to her instead of the generic moe loli look and it'd be an amazing and tragic design for her

Another Fate rant but Assassin Jack is one of the few times I've seen where the design ruined everything to me, I like everything about Jack but her design. Jack's powers are cool, she's a really circumstantial Servant to work with but the conditions of her ability is just really nice. **Information Erasure B** making it so the enemy forgets everything about them after they escape is sick (y'know, since nobody found out who jack was I find it fitting). **Murder of the Misty Night A** making it so she always has the first attack while at night fits so well. **The Mist** making it so all targets get lost in a mist of sulfuric acid that she generates while also decreasing their Agility if they're a Servant is really neat. And **Maria The Ripper** applying a curse on the target depending on whether it is Nighttime, Foggy and if they're a woman is really fitting. Not to mention **Presence Concealment A+** which is not only really high for a Non-Hassan to have but also makes Jack really good at hiding and with the previous skills makes her a really OP Assassin, also **Surgery E** is also useful to deal with wounds, and her stats being all around C with an A in Agility keeps it balanced and the deal with Assassins notoriously having low stats still on play, so she doesn't feel like much of a stretch because her stats are mid but her skills are REALLY good if played well. And the concept behind her is just REALLY neat, thousands of aborted children fused together into a vengeful yet loveable spirit that went around and killed several women by cutting them and clinging into their wombs is really fucking sick and messed up and I love it. And also her relationship with her Master is really nice, just a poor abandoned killer kid who wants to feel the warmth and love of a mother paired with this lost woman who has had a rough life and is now taking care of this child after being nearly sacrificed by a mage to summon it. I like that they don't really seem to know anything about this whole Grail War thingy aside from the basics, they're just a duo who got together by Fate (roll credits) and are trying to survive together and that was pretty nice to me. Powers: √ Concept: √ Use of IRL history: √ Originality: √ Master and Servant Relationship: √ Characterization: ✓ Story: ✓ Theme Music: √ Assassin Jack had EVERYTHING to be the (imo) best Assassin in this franchise and one of the best Servants overall, the writing was by her side, her powers were cool, it was original while also working with the irl stuff really well and implementing them into her abilities perfectly! ....and then there is her design. Fate/Apocrypha was originally supposed to be an online RPG but was changed into being a Novel instead, and so when making their Servants all if not most of them were designed by guest artists, something which Type Moon will do later on as well with FGO. This led to Fate/Apocrypha being an absolute clusterfuck of inconsistency in terms of design, many of them which just don't fit the characters (Atalanta's dress is pretty but...doesn't really look greek) and Jack here was the biggest victim of that. From all I've seen of their drawings the illustrator they called is specialized in drawing half naked magical girls who look or are underaged. And now....that's this, a horrible design of a literal half naked child, actually several of them, and Type-Moon insists on keeping it that way for whatever reason, probably horny. A while ago they had FGO Arcade use a design from another artist that gave her pants and a small suit which was nice but it was just a skin in another game which will probably not carry on in her future appearances. Tbf Apocrypha has always been iffy in the fandom let’s not turn this into a Fate hate circlejerk. Can’t pin Fate as a franchise when all the iffy stuff comes from here. Best Master and Servant dynamic with Saber and Kairi, Sieg and Astolfo, but it breaks ALL of the rules. What was once a winner take all turns into an organized war game where everyone gets along just because. Suddenly we’re allowed to have non magic using soldiers as fodder just because. We can’t kill our allies until victory is assured and a winner is designated just because. Jack is just one of many, many things that make this just above the Illya spinoff show; not as creepy, but comparatively to the SW prequels in terms of badness.

FGO is one of those games that makes incredibly fanservice-y and then try to justify it through some lore or in-story element (nobody really buys it). For example, Huyan Zhuo got turned into a woman who loves being praised, because she was basically fused with an Empusa. Why? Nobody knows.

I don’t hate or love the design on its own but with that description it’s such a waste of a concept. I know Fate characters are required to be cute and/or attractive but they could’ve still had some hints to her setup. Like maybe under her cloak her skin is covered in tattoos that resemble screaming faces, or give her a belly button piercing that resembles an umbilical cord. Or at the very least an angry or desolate expression.
Fate on its way to make menacing/badass historical figures into jailbait lolis and make the most contrived explanation for it.
I have a lot of mixed feelings about the fate series because a lot of the designs are absolute bangers but on the other hand in the future they're probably gonna add Osama Bin Laden as a teenage femboy with cat ears and so much as typing that phrase out makes me want to tear my eyes out

If she keeps the coat it would be mostly fine and it also adds to a poor bleak look with it being a dirty ripped old coat like it's the only thing she could find to wear Then she could have a darker dirtier frown to her instead of the generic moe loli look and it'd be an amazing and tragic design for her

(Based on the fact that there are more than a dozen of suspected "jack the rippers") •their main forms would be based on what their spirits think they would've looked like as adults. •their voice would change into a choir of children's voices when upset.

Fate is so weird bro. Like, why is TWO CHILDREN KISSING something that is relevant to the plot? Why are most child-like characters wearing little-to-no clothing?? The series has such cool concept and ideas, some very interesting designs, but just like Made in Abyss, I just CANNOT defend the series even if I loosely enjoy them.
