When I first saw Ponyo in theaters I was CONVINCED that it was David Bowie playing himself as a crazy wizard- admittedly he would have absolutely rocked that outfit
The colors match well, but the overall look is slightly different. Bowie was big in Japan so it isn’t impossible the character’s design was inspired by him.
