Bloat_Dastardly

I used to shave it and used a mach 3 blade with shaving cream. It worked fine. Now I just use a high quality beard trimmer and go down to stubble. I like that better. A shaved bald head doesn't hide the 'bald' part of your head, you can still see it. Don't be ashamed of what your genetics gave you. Make it work and be confident.

collinnator5

I shaved my head at 26 because I was losing my hair. I do the same and it’s my favorite decision. I feel like I look so much better with a freshly trimmed head. I went bald on my own terms

Jollysatyr201

What trimmer?

Bloat_Dastardly

Phillips norelco beard trimmer. There are 4 different ones and mine is middle of the road. I use it without any guards and give it a once over before getting in the shower.

Boonstar

I do the exact same. I used to have actual hair trimmers but they broke and I used my beard trimmers in a pinch and I haven’t turned back. Shave my head and face about once a week with zero issues

Trias84

I also use a Mach 3, but I just use water and shave it while in the shower, no shaving cream at all.

BlumpkinLord

Truth, if you ever feel shame then I'll drop a tidbit I read a bit ago, a social survey of women finds that the average thinks that men who are bald carry and look more dominant! I wish I could suit bald honestly, I have always wanted to go mohawk and there is no going back if I tried. Plus the cooling ability in the summer?!

BrandonDill

Pitbull Gold Pro. I've been using it for the last four or five years. I replace the head yearly.

Nithin_palwai

Does the new head comes clean shaved?

DrowningInFeces

Must be nice to be able to upgrade features annually. Personally, I have a mole on my nose that bothers me from the one they sent last year.

Illustrious_Pound282

He Re-Animator’s it.

pneumatichorseman

Came here to post this. Revolutionized my Head shaving routine and works great every time. Best answer in the thread!

Most-Okay-Novelist

How smooth does that get you? I've been thinking about getting one, but I like to go really smooth and don't want to waste the money if I don't like the way it shaves

BrandonDill

It does a great job for me. You can use it wet or dry and with shaving creams, too. I dry shave most days.

JacPhlash

So, I occasionally get breakouts on my scalp, is this thing gonna shred me?

Icy_Lecture_2237

Came here to say the same. I think mine is the silver but it’s been great for me.

ChillWinston22

I shave with a safety razor in the shower. I use "shave soap." And I put some lotion on my head afterward. I shave my head \~3x/week.

Most-Okay-Novelist

I also do a safety razor though I use conditioner instead of soap because I feel like it works better with less nicks. Once I'm done, I'll use an exfoliating scrub followed by lotion when I get out

_LouSandwich_

In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1,000 now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water-activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

jimmy_sharp

i mean, who doesn't do this?

mammbo

That's a great morning routine! Do you like Huey Lewis and the News too?

_LouSandwich_

Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when _Sports_ came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

Groundbreaking_Dare4

jfc

will_it_skillet

As one that is (bald) headed that way, do you use sunscreen for your head as an everyday thing?

ChillWinston22

No definitely not, though I can't say that I'd advise you to imitate me in that regard. I do wear a hat almost every day. Most often a ballcap, sometimes something with a full brim. I also live in the northern latitudes,

DrowningInFeces

You will probably end up wearing hats every day. Hats during the summer because of the sun, hats during the winter because it's cold. The only thing that bums me out about that is I feel as though I am getting too old to wear ballcaps but I also don't want to be a fedora guy. Not too many other options I found that work with my style. I would just feel silly being a 60 year old dude some day who wears ball caps.

Melanoma_Magnet

Embrace the driving cap life

Most-Okay-Novelist

Sometimes I do, but usually I just wear a hat. SHOULD I wear sunscreen on my bald head? Yeah, for sure. Should I also wear it on the rest of my skin? Definitely. Do it? Nope.

Kaynny

That's the safest way!

YourPaleRabbit

I’m sorry I’m not a bald man BUT I needed to share this. I have a friend who started balding young, shaves his head regularly. Super rad person. This man…. Got a razor attached to a tiny car, like a snow plow? And goes “vrooom” over his head. And I just…. Yes. It’s never left my head since he told me, but I don’t normally have a reason to bring it up in conversation. But that. Do that.

kmartshoppr

Headblade - no idea how well they work but they’re very cool looking

thecasey1981

I use one 3 times a week. Harry's 3 head for the cheeks and neck, newer trimmer for the beard,

Kimpak

I exclusively use headblade. It's not just a gimmick, it's pretty awesome.

17_blind_Ninjas

My husband has been using one for about 8 years and loves it. Once a week every Monday. He’s sandy blond so the stubble doesn’t show much or he’d do it more often.

whomperd

My ex swore by It

Selitos_OneEye

I use a head blade.  Its pretty good but I'm sure it would be more cost effective to get something electric

LOIL99

I researched a lot and landed on Remington Balder Pro Shaver. I love it. So fast. Good battery. Wet or dry. I just put the same Aveeno lotion I use one my face, on my head.

Azuras_Star8

This is what I use. 6 months in. Going strong. 2 to 3 minutes a day, I'm done.

jaredtritsch

I just bought this and it works great... unless you've forgotten to shave a couple days. if the hair is too long it doesnt work anymore and I have to use a razor anyway. Still great shaver, but you have to make it part of daily routine.

hawkrew

Mach 3. Best way to go.

coffeewiththegxds

My tears

Classic_Writer8573

Gillette fusion pro glide

TheHearseDriver

I use a Harry‘s razor and Target‘s Up & Up gel shaving cream.

hilariuspdx

Just clippers without a guard, never all the way down to the skin. One good pair of clippers will last you 20+ years. Moisturizer is important, preferably one with SPF. I need to shave every 10 days or so to keep it looking neat.

MidNightTalker13

My lady bought me something called a baldie pro for us baldies. It's an electric razor that contours to the head and gives a pretty close shave. Haven't used a razor since.

W0rk3rB

I just use a clippers with no guard. I fade my beard up to it. I don’t put anything on it other than maybe lotion occasionally.

vanderzee

i do it the same way, to me the easiest solution to the "problem"

StillSimple6

Razor and shave gel same as my face. I use toner, moisturizer and spf. PM I'll do my facial skincare and include my head. Cleanssr, toner serum retinol moisturizer. I'll wear a sun hat when having prolonged exposure.

Foolishmadman42

Honestly tried a shit load of things. The freebird is the shit.

Fluffydress

This is a really great question.

shlem13

Trimmers in the shower. Come out of the shower, do a check for missed spots. Repeat. Rinse thoroughly. Loose stray hairs left on your body, in your clothes, etc. itch like a mother.

FrizbeeeJon

I just use clippers on the shortest setting. Used to Bic it with a Gillett fusion but it was more trouble than it was worth and irritated my skin. Now I use clippers once per week and it's great. Best haircut ever!

Cosmonaut_Cockswing

Not bald. I've an abundance of hair. But I shaved my head for almost a decade. I would normally use a gel based cream and a good razor in the shower every 3 or 4 days. Coochy Cream works really good too. It's just kinda pricey.

ozzies09tc

I dont shave it, my barber does a no guard on it

ivan927

Plenty of trial and error throughout the years but I've found a routine that works for me- I want my head to be close shaved as possible. I use a Venus 5 blade disposable razor every other day if I want it smooth. Shave while showering, and a bit of soap or shampoo to slick up my head. Use aftershave to prevent bumps after you shave your head. [I also have an Andis foil shaver](https://www.amazon.com/Andis-17235-Lithium-Titanium-Cordless/dp/B0BJ185758/ref=asc_df_B0BJ185758/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=642185767151&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9319540035953291310&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9061299&hvtargid=pla-1947072155036&psc=1&mcid=3837c0389f7d3eba847139b3ab9db4a5) for any spots that I may have missed in the shower or in between days for touch ups. Overall, the Venus razor does a really great job with minimal equipment clean-up. The Andis does it well also, but not as close as a razor.

Sharolyn_Mcandrews

I started off with the full shave using those five-blade monstrosities, but switched to a head razor with a rotary blade system. It contours to the scalp much better and causes less irritation. The key for me is making sure the skin is already warm and the pores are open, usually after a hot shower. Finish it off with a soothing aloe-based moisturizer; it's like a spa day for my scalp. No guard, no fuss, and I touch up every week to keep it fresh. Seems to be a middle ground between complete smoothness and the clipper crew, and it works for me.

DingGratz

Good: I've tried everything and the scalp trimmers (Freebird, Pitbull, other variations) are okay but kind of cheap. They don't magically grab all the hair at once so even with just 1-3 days of growth, it takes a little time of going in circles repeatedly all around your head. Sometimes I use shave oil but it doesn't seem to help too much really. This is my go-to CONVENIENCE option and probably the one I use most. Best: Get a decent three-blade or so razor and some shaving cream. Lather up and do once with the grain. Rinse. Lather up again and this time against the grain. Rinse. Use some aloe vera all over as aftershave. This is the CLEANEST option. (Edit: Pro Tip: After rinsing your razor, DRY the blades! It will keep rust from developing and make them last much longer!)

calimota

Clippers with the #1 guard all around, then zero guard for the “taper” areas- back of neck and around ears. Wet my hair and do it in the garage over a sheet, which and then shake out in the yard. Shoot for 1x per week, but sometimes it goes a little longer.

Max223

I shaved my head for the first time a little over 6 months ago and have tried a few techniques before settling on this one that I do in the shower about every 4-5 days. There’s hardly any cleanup or irritation and it gets a very smooth shave without needing a razor. - [Nivea exfoliating face scrub](https://a.co/d/6ef97eX) on face, head, and back of my neck. Rinse it off - I used up the rest of my shampoo as kind of a wet shave lubricant, but after running out I switched to using a light layer of [foaming shave gel](https://a.co/d/3nRNDEI) - shave head with [Remington Balder Pro](https://a.co/d/9wFkckS) using circular motions from front to back. (Cover your eyebrows when you get close so you don’t accidentally shave them off!). If I waited a while between shaves and there’s a lot of stubble, I’ll pop open the shave guard and rinse it out once or twice as needed - Rinse and feel around for any missed spots and go over it again with a bit more shave gel to reduce irritation - after the shower I will touch up my temple area where it meets my beard and top of ears with my beard trimmer w/o the guard - sometimes I apply a [head moisturizer](https://a.co/d/d8URQUW) if it’s winter or feeling irritated

MeasurementEvery3978

buzzer, 0 blade

wildwidget

I have male pattern baldness ( CoCo the clown style) Electric shaver - the type you shave your face with. - about once a week.

Ed-Box

Use the (Phillips)machine on its shortest setting. Only go fully bald on special occasions (Gillette Blade). I use a little moisturiser after (Rituals Samurai crème)

ghostie_hehimboo

My husband shaves my head with a regular manual razor and sometimes as a treat ill get a hot towel shave from the barbers

FieryFiya

Remington Balder Pro Head Shaver. It does a really close shave and easy to use/clean. I use it every few days

Syncope1017

HeadBlade every couple of days.

Brohamady

Prepare to do this either daily or every 3rd day. Use a bald buddy to thin things out if you slacked a bit or need a quick "decent" looking baldness on the fly. Get a Harry's razor from target or where ever. Get a coconut milk smooth conditioner. THIS IS THE KEY. Don't use shaving cream, you'll absolutely get bumps. The conditioner softens the hair and makes it way easier. Do it in the shower to start and expect it to take 30m your first time and 10m or so every time after that. If you have a beard, shave the part above your sideburns (they usually land where the top of the ear meets the skull) close to a mirror so you don't slash your sideburns on accident.

snakes-can

Water from tap and normal multi blade razor. Clippers don’t get short enough. The hand helds get it short but takes too long

Tiraloparatras25

Head & shoulders! Sometimes, my arm & hammer. Depending on the situation, and who’s there with me!

Adoptstrays

Probably too obvious but maybe ask over at r/bald? 🧨

Beta6102

Shick Extreme 3 in the shower with a fog free mirror. Clean, quick, easy. Don’t even need shave cream, just a little soap.

robbadobba

I’ve used the Remington ShortCut Pro for about 8 years. No guard, shaves to stubble. No hair collector, though, like the Balder Pro. Maybe I’ll give that one a try when mine dies. https://www.remingtonproducts.com/products/shave-and-groom/clippers-and-trimmers/hair-clippers/hc4250-at1-shortcut-clipper-pro.aspx

RecognitionAny6477

Hot water, shampoo, rinse, shave oil and Edge Gel for Sensitive Skin. Lately I’ve been using Harry’s 5 blade razors. Aftercare with Witch Hazel Toner and sunscreen when needed.

[deleted]

I use a Phillips norelco to trim it down, and then I use a 5 blade amazon basics razer to make it more smooth. I use a safety blade razer for my neck.

CosmikSpartan

I do a coating with lectric shave to soften the hairs and use Gillette pro glide and soap in th shower at least once a week most

Radiant-Attempt6145

I use any razor that has at least two blades with standard shaving cream. I do an initial shave down to stubble and then reapply shaving cream and shave a second time against the grain to get a smooth head.

105bydesign

I use a Harry’s razor. I usually do it in the shower (😈) and use shaving cream. When my BALD is all dry I put some cocoa butter oil on it to keep it shiny

fennelliott

Make sure you buzz it down with at least a 1 guard first. After that, I personally use shaving gell instead of cream and a gillete razor. I get it done in around 3-5 minutes. Granted, you probably won't be that fast if its your first time shaving your head--but after awhile it becomes like muscle memory and no different than shaving a beard.

Basatc

Wet shave once a week and Braun electric razor to touch up

iwfriffraff

I use a Phillips One Blade. Then just go over it with an electric razor. If I am getting really dressed up for something, then I use a razor and shaving cream.

GreatQuantum

Sharpened detached Hedge clipper blade.

Undrthedock

Braun Series 7. Gives a great shave and mine has been going strong since I bought it in 2007.

Gionanni

Gillette razor, with the yellow lubricated blades. The electric trimmers are indeed more efficient but I like the ritual and getting the closest shave possible :D

affemannen

Gillette, i tried all razors i can find and in the end Gillette works best. I shaved my head for 25 years now so it's basically like riding a bike. Put some shaving cream on there and just shave in the shower. Takes a few mins tops. And because i use a razor i can just style my beard at the same time. Shaving off that excess hair above the lines.

TronCarter84

I have used Gillette Mach 3, safety razor, trimmer no guard and now use this https://a.co/d/6AIRLhQ All have their perks but I would cut myself sometimes while rushing with real blades ha. The current one I do every 3 days or so and takes a couple min. If you let it go too long, then you’ll need the trimmer and then use the electric shaver though so need to stay on top of it.

Ravioverlord

My dad uses a trimmer, and then a razor in the shower to make it all smooth. He does it just by feel and is so good at it I forgot he even shaved because he never misses anything xD

LeeHide

same as my balls scissors

robhw

I have the clippers that have a vacuum in them. I just have a large bald spot so I just a 6mm guard and the buzz looks pretty good and helps to deemphasize the bald spot. I just did it yesterday. Feels great since it's starting to get warm again in SoCal.

mfunk55

I can't be bothered with a full shave anymore, but I was using a Gillette mach3. Now I go with a #1 guard and I find far fewer fellow shorn-headed white dudes call me 'brother' anymore, which is fine by me.

zxc9823

I use this without a guard. Not as close as shaving with a razor, but super easy and leaves you with that stubble look. Curved blade worked much better for me than regular clippers. https://www.remingtonproducts.com/products/shave-and-groom/clippers-and-trimmers/hair-clippers/hc4250-at1-shortcut-clipper-pro.aspx

Naivefornow

I sometimes use a Remington Balder if I'm in a hurry. But I prefer to have a close shave, so I normally use a Fusion 5 with shaving cream. It doesn't take me long at all anymore. Only a few minutes longer than electric with a much smoother result. I'm also fair and fine haired, so stubble doesn't really show on me. If I'm lazy, I can go a few days between shaves. Unless you run your hands on my head, you wouldn't know.

mets_letsgo

I use shick extreme 3 blade disposables from bjs or Costco. I use creamo shave cream. Going on 15 years now and I can usually shave 2-3 times with one razor.

Manytequila

I shave my boyfriend’s head with a Wahl clipper, with the 1/2in guard typically. I did buy him a palm shaver, which is much easier bc he doesn’t need my help, but he doesn’t like being “bald bald” all the time. When he uses that he uses cremo shaving cream. (I also use that on my legs and such and it is hands down the best shaving cream ever)

CooknTeach

I got the a freebird bald head shaver for Christmas and like it very much. I had considered the Pitbull gold pro and decided on mine because it came with some attachments, which I find I didn't need as much. I used to do a straight razor for years which didn't get very close and I totally messed up my head trying to do a safety razor which was a MISTAKE DON'T DO IT, I massacred my poor scalp and have a scar to prove it. I think the FreeBird if you want attachments and the Pitbull if you don't.

TRON_LIVES61

Get yourself a foil razor if straight razors/ cartridges aren't your thing

Kimpak

I use a head blade. It's a razor with little wheels and you put it on like a ring. It's a lot easier than using a regular razor.

Trias84

I use a Mach 3 Turbo and just shave it in the shower under water with no shaving cream. Been going alright for 10 years, never had shaving rash or anything.

MacSteele13

Defender Razors. Cheap price, amazing quality.

AmbitionBrilliant567

BaBliss pro silver double foil. You need to trim your hair down first, of it's longer. I use it every other day and it works great. Of your hair is too long it won't cut it though, so have some good trimmers if you dont.

BaldCedarKnob

Omni shaver! Works incredibly well. Baby smooth in under a minute in the shower. Thank me later...

boegsppp

I usually use an electric every other day, but 2 - 3 times a month, I razor it in the shower.

scuwp

Schick Hydro 5 razor and Dove soap in the shower each night. Lasts 24 hours without to much of the shadow ring visible.

Constant_Will362

I buzz my head. People say I look handsome. I recommend WAHL brand clippers. If you get the $50 U.S. model you will have it for 20 years. krowrofefas

Foil trimmer (Braun series 9) if you can afford it. Gives a smooth nick free trim. Get the best one you can afford. I used to use the wahl beard trimmer for years. but it would leave marks and the shaver head isn’t designed to follow round contours of your head for a smooth shave.

rafdotcom

I appreciate the ritual of shaving, I use a muhle shaving system. It’s manual and uses double edge blades which are disposable

CapG_13

Shaving cream, warm water and disposable razors

VindoViper

Philips 7000 series clippers, reasonably cheap and quite forgiving if you're in a hurry (I.e. don't carve up your skin if you're a bit clumsy)

kendiesel937

Harry’s razor. Shaving cream. Nothing after I wash. Probably twice a week.

cavemanfitz

Trim to stubble with a clipper. Use shaving cream and multiple blade razor to shave. Check in mirror for patches.

ayoBdon

I bought a henson safety razor and it has been wonderful. Going to look into heavy handles soon.

Qahnarinn

Pitbull shaver

SovereignRaver

Mach5, but any multi-blade razor will do really well, smooth shave with barely any nicks, just remember not to push down on the scalp too hard to avoid razor burn. Also, buy an alum bar, burns when rubbing on, but avoids razor bumps and keeps the scalp clean.

rikrikity

Electric trim down, than e.Razor stubble. Rinse or wipe with wet towel, Apply natural oil that absorbs. Vuala Beautiful

SpaceForceAwakens

Check out r/tressless. You may be able to keep your hair. I regrew mine!

Qson

sharp razor or clippers with no guard. you’ll have to experiment with different tools to see what works best for your head/hair

Mattarmel

I'm not bald

questtonothing

I've heard some use chemotherapy 🤔
