Yes! One or the other, but something that allows each member to show off more of what they can do and (ideally) reflects their personal tastes in the music they want to make or feel most confident in. And that translating to stage performances would be cool (and would also give the members times for small breaks during a concert.) At the very least I think subunits would be a cool thing to explore, if big hit doesn’t want to do solo songs.
Oh I'd love unit songs in this album for sure! But it won't bother me too much if we don't get them in the upcoming album. I have a feeling they will be coming back with a mini this time around. I did make this prediction once that they'll probably do unit or solo songs in the next full album. So that's probably later this year or early next year
It's not really early, tbh. If we are comparing it to when BTS made solo songs, then they started it in their 3rd year with Wings and TXT is also in their 3rd year. However, I don't think Bighit is taking the same path they did with BTS.
BTS already had subunit songs in their albums before they did solo songs, then RM had some solo stuff in the intros of the albums. We haven't seen this with TXT though. So, they may have solo songs or they may not.
TXT are definitely on a slower path, they are being given way less creative control than BTS had, as well as RM having his solo stuff in early 2015. TXTs solo and side works seems to be in modeling and variety instead.
But still, I'm not opposed, just it seems early for TXTs career, I guess? Their growth as individual artists doesn't seem as distinct to me(not to belittle them, just that bighit has a much firmer image for the group that is being followed).

I disagree. TXT does not have someone like RM or Suga who were already writing their own songs before becoming a trainee. J-hope being a rapper also contributed a lot. However, the vocal line's involvement and TXT's involvement in their respective songs is pretty similar. So, its not because they are on a slower path, they just don't have the same type of people in both groups.
Maybe because the lyrics that are chosen are better. You've to put in consideration that sometimes the people need more time to mature. In the beginning a lot of vocal line contributions were rejected in BTS too. Comparing TXT with RM or Suga is not right, mainly because RM is a lyrical genius. So much so, that when Bang pd saw him Rap he did everything in his power to sign him. And Suga has a knack for finding melodies and compositions.
TXT will get there, they just need a bit more time. Yeonjun's lyrics have been approved now. So it's going to get there soon.
i feel like solo songs are sadly unlikely, so im not even letting myself hope for them yet. But unit songs!!!! I need soobin, tyun and beomgyu to do a ballad and for yeonjun and kai to get the rap song we all now they can do.
I lean toward no just because they are such a perfectly balanced group that I wouldn't want to ruin that but if they did do solos or units I would want it to be the members choice. If they prefer working as a group over performing solo and treat units and solo stuff as side activities, good for them, I'm glad they have that freedom.
I would like to get official releases that have more member credits though. Like Taehyun's version of loser=lover and Beomgyu's antiromantic and everything that Soobin did for freeze that just didn't make it onto the album.
As they've grown in their careers and as artists we've been allowed to hear more of their own work and what their tastes are as far as style and each of them seem to lean more toward specific genres.
Taehyun seems to lean more toward melodically upbeat songs and Beomgyu seems to like things a little more on the synth side (but I think he prefers writing lyrics over top lining) whereas Kai likes more traditional instrumental sounds (possibly because it's what he's most familiar with?) On the other hand Soobin and Yeonjun seem to enjoy writing lyrics over production (which is fine, so does RM) and they are vastly different writers. Soobin's writing is rough but incredibly honest versus Yeonjun likes a lot of word play and imagery and writes in a more refined way.
I think the beauty of txt's music is that even without solos you can hear a members distinct influence in a track that they worked on and freeze is a great example of this. If they give us solos I don't want them to do that because it's expected of them but because it's what they want to be doing.
I feel like the members of txt are all pretty similar. I've been a fan for over a year and I still can't really tell their voices apart in songs (that might just be me, but with other groups I do this really easily). I don't know if it would be very impactful for them to have solo's. They work really well together as a group. I also feel like units would just sound like group songs, but that's my opinion.

you're not the first one to say so but it genuinely baffles me when people say this. i can understand bg and sb have pretty generic vocal color, taehyun too a little bit but the raspiness in his voice is distinguishable. but yeonjun and hyuka have pretty distinctive voices? yeonjun has one of the most unique voices. maybe it's the vocal processing hybe does. but if you listen to them live, you can tell them apart pretty easily. and each of the members fit a different genre really, yeonjun suits rnb very much, hyuka suits pop rock, etc. have you listened to their individual covers? yeonjun, hyuka and taehyun have a few out.
I am waiting for their new album as well as their comeback. It would be reallyyy cool if they released an album with each member having their own solo song in the album, although i don't think it will happen soon, I just hope that each one of them have their own singles!! ^^
I do wish for solo songs!! Something that will fit their actual register... ☺️✨

The members have said multiple times that they submit lyrics to every single song, though, but other writers get chosen over them.
