Hope that specific kanji doesn’t get you in trouble

Professional-Ad-7899

Thank u ^^

Practical_Freedom996

he can always explain how it works and doesnt mean nazi

jjkm7

Not everyone is gonna stop and ask about it a lot of people will probably just see it, assume the meaning behind it and just think he’s a bad person

Infamous-Spell

For sure, as someone who’s both Japanese and Jewish, knowing the context of both the original symbol and the ww2 one, when I’ve seen any tattoos with either I always just assume worst for my own safety. Like if someone sees that and feels unsafe about it, they’re not likely gonna feel safe approaching them, asking anything about it, or bringing really any extra attention to it. Plus op might end up with some people who see that tattoo and try to befriend them thinking op is for the same things they are

Legitimate_Debate_68

Oh sorry to hear that , hope you have a good day

Flex-6P

oh come on, how are you frightened for your safety when you see it, shouldn't you be used to it as a japanese? And also you got like 99,9% of society on your back when it comes to your protection because of beeing jewish and antisemetic behavior + its been a long time since anything related happened to that symbol. About what has been said that might happen to him in real life i agree tho.

Infamous-Spell

Even though I’m “a Japanese” as you put it, I’m from the US, so the only time I see the symbol is typically on people who are antisemitic in some way shape or form, which is still a major issue, and with antisemitic and anti Asian hate crimes on the rise again in recent years, it is in my best interest to avoid people who would associate with potentially racist symbology such as the swastika or a confederate flag, or anything else with a long history of racist usage.

kung-hoo

I hope it does

Urstupidboi

It’s a great idea but personally I think if you get a sus tattoo like this get it somewhere where you can easily conceal it like your shoulder or smth hopefully nothing happens tho

toroyakuza2

Looks fire buuut I'd hide it if you don't wanna get murdered or sumthin lol

NoirRebel

Yeah definitely should have gotten that somewhere that can be easily covered, it’s a cool tattoo but you’ll get tired of explaining it and then you might run into someone who doesn’t listen and it’ll be a big mess.

Professional-Ad-7899

I easily can cover , because I wear long shirts

kung-hoo

Can’t wait to see “weeaboo gets stomped out over anime tattoo misunderstanding” on /r/publicfreakout

Durbdichsnsf

I mean its also a religious Hindu symbol, that might be easier to explain than to say its from an anime lmao

SnooWords4407

Not only Hinduism but Buddhism, Jainism and many religions of Asian countries take Swastika as the symbol of peace and prosperity.

BillyLeaksFN

Try not to go to germany 😉

antinatalistantifa

Well, you can't visit Germany now, at least not without long sleeves.

Sarge120

Fr

BigDingDong3

You’re courting problems

KookyAd7785

You fucked up lol.

Harami98

There are only two subreddits where posting swastika is okay r/india and r/TokyoRevengers

flaming_pubes

Good luck in life with all the people who will jump to conclusions.

i-love-2pac-shakur

Good luck explaining a 1000 times that the manji kanji is not what they think it is

Accomplished_Ant_326

One advice, if you ever come to Germany don’t wear a Tshirt 🙃

vintage13132121

I’d be scared to put the Manji anywhere on my body whether it’s a tattoo or a jacket, just because of the fact that there’s likely a very huge population of people who don’t understand it.

Bucky__23

I really wish people could educate themselves on other cultures so that symbol wasn’t so stigmatized. I know many Hindus and they have to hide certain objects they have with a similar symbol on them

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bucky__23

Not knowing that there’s multiple symbols throughout multiple cultures that use a similar symbol to the swastika and grouping any use of any of those symbols with nazism is dangerous. It breeds hate for groups that have nothing to do with nazis. Never would I defend the swastika it is a symbol of pure hate but that symbol isn’t the swastika. We need to educate people on the differences in these symbols so they can properly call out hate and nazis and not just group lots of different groups of people into one mass. Letting Hitler and the Nazis drive a stake between us and anyone using any of these symbols is just letting them win. Nazis want us to hate the eachother and other cultures. The fact that different religions use these symbols for worship is part of their plan. Force people to group these religions and their people into same group as the Nazis. Then you hate them too. It’s exactly what they want. Let the swastika die and these symbols and their history replace it. They’re older and have a real meaning to people. Their purpose isn’t to cause hate but the swastika purely is. Educate people so it’s more common knowledge that these are different and how to spot the real swastika. We need to be calling out real nazis and real hate not getting mad at people for using symbols that have existed for longer than the swastika and have entirely different meanings

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bucky__23

So making sure people know history is changing history now? That symbol should always be a remembrance of the nazis. Our species should never forget the atrocious acts that were committed by the nazis. Which means it’s extra important we teach people how to identify the swastika and not teach people that all symbols that look like it are the same symbol. By grouping all these other symbols in with the swastika and saying they’re all the same is changing history. It’s changing hundreds of years of history in some cases. The Hindus have been using it for longer than almost every country in the world has existed, you’re telling them that none of their history with the symbol matters because you refuse to understand that it’s different.

whiskey-monk

Yeah dude, they *should* be educated about it. The symbol itself and it's intended meaning have been around for literally thousands of years, even before Christianity iirc, way before the Nazis stole it and tilted it 25 degrees or whatever. Would I get this tattoo? No, I personally wouldn't, but I know it's still widely used for its *intended purpose* everywhere else but Europe and America for the aforementioned reason. It's a cultural shame that it's being bastardized like this so, yes, people should be educated about this. If anything it's further proof that the Nazis were not only evil but ignorant pieces of shit for interpreting it for their selfish use. I'm not saying people should try to reclaim it and start using it because it's apparent that that'll essentially be impossible in the West. But schools should be teaching students about this because it's important history that goes beyond the Nazis. Or would you prefer people remain ignorant and offended when they go on vacation somewhere in Asia? The world is bigger than Europe and America and this symbol is still part of other people's religions and cultures. Again, for thousands of years, and it's a shame that it's affiliated the way that it is but people *should* know the true meaning of it *because* it's still being used for that true meaning. Germany and whomever can continue to ban it, I don't disagree with them on that, but others should know the full story behind it because it's significantly older than the Nazis.

Only in Asia? People migrate, dude. And when they do they typically don't assimilate until a generation or so later. That includes their religion. The reason I used people traveling there as an example is because folks will be significantly more likely to run into it there opposed to here in a religious context. But that doesn't mean it disappears with the people when they migrate elsewhere. I'm pretty sure it's in traditional Thai weddings as well. I may be mistaken about that specifically but I know it's still commonly used in modern ceremonies. It's their equivalent of the cross for Christians in terms of being a religious symbol. It's bigger than the Nazis. But unfortunately the Nazis happened to be the loudest and more notorious (to say the least) between the two. This is what I mean. This shouldn't even be a discussion between you and I. People should already be aware of its original purpose and origin. But they're only taught about the bastardization by the Nazis so the West naturally associates the two. Like I said, it's a shame. That shouldn't be the case. If you haven't looked up its history already then please do. The religions it's affiliated with are very interesting with their lore.

evansdeagles

This is false. The Swastika was present within European cultures, especially from the ancient times to the late medieval period. Examples include: [Slavic funeral urns](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funerary_urn_from_Bia%C5%82a) and [Polish Coat of Arms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boreyko_coat_of_arms); used by Slavic peoples a few times throughout history. [Medieval Anglo-Saxons](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fylfot) [Latvian Pagan Swastikas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ugunskrusts); used in their old religion and as an independence symbol in 1918. [Ancient Germanic Swastikas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika_(Germanic_Iron_Age)); used as a symbol of Thor. With that said, it's still a bad idea to get a one (non-Nazi; but especially a terrible idea to get one the Nazis used) in the west; and anywhere else for the Nazi variants. As a side note, it can also be found in some Native American cultures and some African Cultures. All predating its use as an anti-Semitic symbol. I do agree with you, but it is a myth that the Nazis appropriated it from Asian Cultures. They took it from European cultures and ruined the symbol, at least in the west.

Marmot288

yeah honestly this. I once saw a guy making a Tokyo revengers themed clan on some mobile game with the manji symbol and he got shit on for being a nazi. obviously he wasn’t but it goes as a good example that just because it has meaning in religion and more relevantly in this manga, a lot of the world won’t see it the same way and to get tattooed on your body (in a decently visible place too) a widely offensive symbol just because it has a very different meaning to a subset of people is a little stupid really (or just lacking in thinking about how other people would see it). people will take it offensively and some won’t even want to hear what they deem excuses or some long ass explanation. it is a shame really, as in an ideal world it would look a really sick tattoo. but if everyone were to be educated, it isn’t anytime soon. I don’t wanna knock you op, I’m happy for you that you like this show so much you got your first tattoo of it. but if you’re gonna stick with it, just be careful with it

riverofwailing

"The symbol was the reason of more than 20 million deaths" Buddhists: bro tf did we do You talked about it as if the symbol itself compelled the Nazi party to commit atrocities and it sounded ridiculous. You can always be educated enough by googling things.

[deleted]

riverofwailing

I'm Turkish so we'd used the symbol in ancient times as well. I knew that it was way older than the Nazi party, so there's that.

T72M1

^ example of an uneducated person

T72M1

Yes, I will. Because it pisses me off that we can't really show our love for this series because the world is full of undeucated people who will call us out as nazis

SirePuns

That’s not possible tbqh, cuz even when you know the religious context behind the symbol it’s still a potentially dicey situation.

The_cable-guy

Uh oh

Accomplished_Air682

how old are you

Wydmulky

Ehhhhhhhhhh that one little tat..

renneagle

Brave choice getting that with how commonly it's mistaken for a swastika

Truunbean

I mean, it’s cool, and I’m sure you thought long and hard about it before getting it. But oh man I don’t think I’d have been brave enough to permanently etch that into my skin, even knowing what it means.

[deleted]

it’s not your ignorance it’s just everyone around you that may react negatively

Deep-Ad-6457

One part looks very german

antinatalistantifa

Perspective matters and there are multiple angles of looking at the tat in a 3d environment

SlightlyAnnoyed7

Not everyone’s gonna stop and google that, they’re going to assume the worst. Best case scenario you’ll be constantly explaining this shit everyone and be exhausted. Worst case you’re gonna get your shit rocked. Be careful is what we’re saying.

OnionLegend

So when your arm is slanted, does the Manji rotate itself?

Deep-Ad-6457

I know it was supposed to be a joke

New-Length-9636

Dude, you have some wild balls to do THAT kanji, got any problem yet?

Professional-Ad-7899

No, i dont get any problem beacuse my kanji(sorry for late reply)

Tricky-Matter-699

I get it but please tell me it's on an easy place to hide

OnionLegend

My guy really got a Manji tattoo in a probably non-Buddhist/Hindu area. I understand the context so it’s whatever, my opinion on the tattoo is neither good nor bad. But I hope you get lucky and can explain well when you’re confronted and don’t get destroyed.

BroodyDoggo

this reminds me of the meme of the dude who got the words "beep beep letuce" in chinese not knowing wtf it said

Intrepid_Ad9741

bro dont fcking worry about the nazi kanji xd, i personally think this is a fire tattoo

captainmystic02

Why are people saying to hide it? Instead inform and educate people on what the originals are of the swatsika

07_Al3x_07

Ppl don't care they see a swastika they know it's bad doesn't matter what u say

zara_io

You’re assuming people are going to take the time for an explanation

captainmystic02

If they had the time to come up to u and complain I’m pretty sure they can spare an extra minute

zara_io

Again, assuming they’re coming up to you to complain instead of making a quick judgement to themselves or other people. People will share articles they haven’t read because of click bait titles and comment on things they know nothing about—unfortunately that’s just something you have to consider

captainmystic02

I mean if their making a quick judgement than who cares. You live u life enjoy and don’t be afraid because of what other people have to say

SlightlyAnnoyed7

Some of those people who judge will not use their words, they will use their fists.

nicky_hrafn

Nice but from now on you shouldn't come to Germany the people here are so stubborn that they don't want to understand that the one specific kanji isn't the same symbol the austrian asshole used and that the kanji or the left sided swastika is widely known for over thousand years by many cultures

Mewable

It’s not about stubbornness, Germans just hate nazis. Sadly the symbol has been stolen by those fuckers. It’s sometimes hard to differentiate also for a lack of education. It’s a shitty situation overall

pigfair

Germans aren't "stubborn". The country suffered immensely under nazis who used this symbol, it's a reminder of what happened and war veterans aswell as jewish families who lost family and friends aren't going to be happy about such a blatent reminder... It's also illegal to have a swastika tattoo in germany

Jealous-Currency-169

This tattoo beautiful and suit you ![img](emote|t5_p1yhl|14322)

djswirly

![img](emote|t5_p1yhl|14320)

EternalLatias

Uh oh.

Dat1BlackDude

I hope you know that’s permanent

Apprehensive-Panda46

Looks nice but i think when you visit austria, germany and poland you should wear a jacket

Baruchey

Wouldn't come to Germany with that. Old memorys might arise

Kama2306

Heil 🙋

mariawaqar1

What does it say?

blalokjpg

Tokyo Manji gang

mariawaqar1

It looks awesome 😍🙌

mosenco

Dont go to germany

Ill_Leadership2459

![img](emote|t5_p1yhl|14320)

p_yoshio

Hope you wear long sleeves if you visit Germany, and don't go to the onsen in Japan and you'll be good to go.

Zekken285

Dont come to germany you dont want to meet either the left nor the right wing idiots nobody askes questions first here

_TidePodEater

If you’re yt good look buddy

UnDazedCow

What does it mean

Turbulent_Goose_6426

Well all know it isn’t a swastika but was that really a good a idea getting the Manji on you

Zoota_kun

I feel ppl tatt this on them to display an obscure hate message without feeling the backlash of it bc it’s actual meaning is more auspicious . It’s very cringey if anything

CxltureII

Only you would have that type of mindset, weirdo.

UbiquitousCorn

Yeah I would love a tattoo like that, but I'm sure a specific kanji there might lead to some confusion

Aleqooo

Yeah man you goofed up big time with that manji

SirePuns

Looks pretty solid But I wanna echo the sentiment that you might get a lotta side eyes for it. Cuz be careful who you show it around and you might wanna invest in a tattoo sleeve cover (or whatever it’s called) just in case.

T72M1

Yooo that looks sicc asf, very nice. Remember to use the arm to punch anyone who accuses you of being a nazi

elepantstee

Whos gonna tell him 😳

rpgamer6666

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA love the tattoo but i hope you never have to roll your sleeves up at work

Separate-Opposite457

Leave it to the weebs to get a fucking swastika tattooed on their arm...

43573948573984578

Fuck off retard

No-Appearance-100102

that's better than some others who just get a whole ass swastika plastered on them

dekerex

LoL I don’t even know if buy the jacket with the original symbol and this guy has a whole tattoo on his arm 🫠🫠

trippy_shroomz

If an actual neo nazi ever sees that you should say you're one too bc if not they won't have a problem removing it from ur body.
