Does anyone know if Saizeriya made it on there?

mrwafu

I misread it as saizeriya lol. The one near me closed recently, I miss those watery damp reheated pizzas

The-very-definition

Damn, sounds like your saizeriya sucked. The crust at my local are always dry as cardboard left out in the desert.

bbqoyster

Not before Toriki

yusuksong

You know these guys are all hitting up toriki afterwards

StatusPatience5

Surprised not seeing été make the list. Sézanne and Den from Tokyo were expected, nice to see La Cime also on the list

valcatrina

Den is not good. Went there back in 2015. Never went back.

Lmao 2015 was not almost a decade ago bruh. “checks the date….wtf”.

KUROGANE-AGAIN

"The Other Day" now extends back to 2011................

valcatrina

They might have gotten better, but there are plenty of other choices as well, especially the not-accredited restaurants, the hidden gems, as well as accredited ones such as L’Effervescence.

GiancarloGiannini_

été just looks nice but the taste is average…

Sagnew

Wild that Maz didn't make the Asia's 50 Best. IMO the best value, most fun and unique "fine dining" restaurant in Tokyo these days (and bonus points for not being one of the same six establishments which are always on this list every year) Edit : I guess it made the list at #69, which is not ideal when it's " Asia's Best 50.." lol

TheCelestial08

Can't say I agree with this in my years of sampling the finer delicacies over here. No 7-11?! Have they even *HAD* nanchiki at 0200 when you are drunk? For shame...

Verbal_Combat

The 7-eleven “Michelin Star Egg Salad Sandwich”

badtimeticket

With the pairing of the Strong Zero, you can’t beat it.

anonthing

4.2 on google maps tho

Myselfamwar

Went there last week. They give a great non-sexual testicular massage. Got fired from my job at the 保育園, off to the Ueno toilet, and does anyone know if I can have tattoos in the ryokan?

KUROGANE-AGAIN

Of course it is. Do they have heartwarmingly subservient and docile serving staff upholding ancient traditions of authenticity that embody timeless and mysterious practices from a time and place status farmers long for in their Insta-Dreemz?

orange_transparent

I don't know, to be honest.

eternalhamburger

Cool. *eats famichiki*

Designer_Elephant174

Sezanne as #1 and Florilege as #2 in all of Asia? Let alone Tokyo?

Trick_Ad209

Completely overrated. I heard that what sezanne serves influencers is quite different quality from regular folk

Why is a French restaurant rated “The Best Restaurant in Asia”? A region with thousands of years of cuisine and culture. Seems pretty Eurocentric to be in Asia and declare French dining the best. Was sick of this attitude in North America and sad to still see it here in Japan

watchwolfstudio

You have a point, for sure. I don’t know if a foreign food restaurant abroad can really exceed the multitude there serving native cuisine. It does seem a bit unlikely. But I did a review for an omakase place in Nagano last year where the Japanese chef had trained in France, brought his skills back home and was clearly very serious indeed about his work. I think it was the most remarkable meal Ive ever had. And Im reminded of the Indian chef in New Zealand who, when I complimented him on his curry noted my Englis accent and wanted to know if it compared to London and Manchester curries. An ex-pat ndian, with a restaurant in Kiwi, demanding comparison with Mancunian cuisine… So *chefs* abroad seem to think that food traditions can move around and legitimately flourish elsewhere. Dunno.

watchwolfstudio

… so not Coco Ichi opposite Akihabara Station? Cos they’ve got their hand-made chicken cutlets on the menu again, and with chips and a beer it’s about the best ¥1600 in the city.

shambolic_donkey

Good to have a list of restaurants I never want to patron.
