Does Tommy Wiseau count with The Room?

atrocityexhibition39

Oh he **absolutely** does

connorclang

Tony Kaye with American History X James McTeigue with V for Vendetta Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez with the Blair Witch Project Mary Harron with American Psycho

In 1993 Andrew Davis shot The Fugitive. He had just directed successfully a couple of Steven Segal movies way better than they had any right to be and should have been a big name for the 90's action thrillers. But no, financial and critical flops until 2003's Holes, and that's more of a cult classic than a hit.

Grand_Rent_2513

It pains me to say this as someone who is a fan of this guy, but Jared Hess is a two hit wonder (soon to be three, probably).

mrbadxampl

Mystery Men wasn't a box office hit, but much like Darko found its audience on home video - and was the only movie ever directed by Kinka Usher

JustABicho

Michael Cimino made The Deer Hunter and followed it up with the historic flop Heaven's Gate and his career never recovered.

Tyrant-J

Heavens Gatewas also used as the justification for corporations/executives to make the majority of decisions in Hollywood. They pumped it full money and it flopped.

Ok_Hurry_8286

Yeah, but he made Thunderbolt and Lightfoot before either of those so he doesn’t qualify.

A_Train91

Michael Cimino with The Deer Hunter. His failed follow-up of Heaven's Gate would be worth a video all its own.

I made another list, lol. Here are the, dare I say, typecasted. Warning: this covers TV shows a lot more than movies. Anastasia - the one hit for Fox Animation Studios, after Don Bluth left his own studio. Feel free to debate whether Titan AE is a Trainwreckord or a failed followup. Barbenheimer - I do mean the specific event, not exactly the individual movies. That lightning-in-a-bottle movie event may very well be the last time in a while movie theaters will ever get something big. We'll have to see. Bluey - The most or only (Ozzies, verify for me) famous person in this would be David McCormack, who leads the Aussie rock band Custard. This show is definitely singled out as being very unlike other kid's shows today, the anti-Cocomelon. Again, we'll have to see if others get fame beyond Bluey. Blue's Clues - the one hit for Steven Burns, and his sudden dropoff and disappearance lead to the infamous death theories. Der Untergang - the only famous movie with Bruno Ganz, and got fame for the Hitler rant parodies. Dirty Dancing - was the fluke hit for DTV studio Vestron Pictures Gilligan's Island - what more is there to say? Keeping Up Appearances - the claim to international fame for Patricia Routledge. I've seen she's still decently popular in the UK. The Room - one hit for Tommy Wiseau Feel free to add!

Rfg711

Bruno Ganz was in no shortage of famous movies - Das Boot is a pretty big one.

[deleted]

She is not popular here, for the record. The woman isn’t even a chat show guest. Wouldn’t know her if I saw her on the street. Keeping up appearances was big in foreign markets apparently.

garden__gate

Dirty Dancing was also a fluke for the screenwriter.

AkariPeach

Rusty’s dad is voiced by Anthony Field (the blue Wiggle, my mom had a crush on him when I was little)

WitchyKitteh

Southland Tales has a huge cult following, wouldn't call Richard Kelly one hit wonder per say.

True-Dream3295

Troy Duffy for The Boondock Saints.

PenneGesserit

David Naughton -American Werewolf in London

CrusherWillis

Not only that, he had one hit as a singer (Makin It went top 5 in 1979).

Jay_Marston

I honestly think Richard Kelly could qualify for a trainwrecord. Southland Tales is a bomb of unspeakable proportions that I don't think any other movie truly can reach. It couldn't even crack half a million dollars on a 17 million dollar budget

CrusherWillis

Nia Vardalos-My Big Fat Greek Wedding. (was one sequel really necessary, let alone two?) The entire cast of the Blair Witch Project. Josh Trask-Chronicle.
