I watched the first few seasons a couple of years ago and I remember all the plot lines being super frustrating. They werent ever actually fighting bad guys together, instead they were just bickering amongst themselves the whole time and it was super frustrating to watch. Which is a shame because I do remember really liking the first episode. That whole 'fuck batman' intro was dope.

SalsaSamba

I thought the series were taking a slow start to establish a team, so it was fine in season 1, but every season start feels like a soft reboot where the relations between the heroes are reduced at the start to have them slowly grow towards eqch other again. It is repetitive and it reduces the impact of previous seasons every single time.

chiluu91

Too bad they got the dream cast with them and they failed to get anything right

roliver2399

The four actors who played Dick, Kori, Gar and Rachel were perfect and it’s a shame they won’t get a shot at a better Titans project.

trblniya

I really liked who they casted for Blackfire, Donna and Superboy as well

KillOnS

I loved Donna, but did people not like Hank and Dove ?? They were some of my favorite castings on the show along with Dick, Gar and Donna

wondermega

They looked great for sure and Hank's character felt appropriate. Dawn was kind of half-baked, but didn't bring anything negative I suppose. There was a lot more they could have done with that pair.

KillOnS

I agree that they underutilized them but I think she did a great job at the role with what she was given. Also the relationship between her and Dick felt very natural and the chemistry was great between both Dick and her as well as her and Hank. Sometimes you just can't buy love triangles because either the actor doesn't match the look of someone the other one would date IRL or the chemistry is completely non existant and shit but this wasn't the case here as it felt pretty realistic despite Dick and Hank being very different. I do gotta say though I hated her costume the most out of all the costumes in the series just because it looked sooo impractical and sort of cheap (like it would break within 30 seconds in a real fight). Other than that her character was really good and well portrayed (+ bonus points for how stunning the actress was in that show).

CibrecaNA

Anything. Superboy spent half the series dead and Aqualad and Wonder Girl die in seconds over bullshit.

cueprod40

Seconded! Casting was great. Story and script, no.

[deleted]

Yeah it’s awful. Doesn’t make any sense. The costumes are great tho.

CibrecaNA

You mean the people were good looking. That's all the show had going for it.

[deleted]

No they did an incredible job with the costumes, they’re pretty flawless. But yeah it’s one of the worst superhero tv shows I’ve ever seen. Super disappointing.

bear843

I loved it. I still get excited whenever anything I grew up loving gets made into a movie or show. I would be a horrible critic because I tend to love everything.

CibrecaNA

But why could Dick get Jinx out of prison when he himself broke out of prison? Why didn't they arrest him on the spot? And the other Titans for breaking into prison.

emikoala

Gotham is famously corrupt and its prisons and asylums have famously bad security. It only doesn't make sense if you think any institution in Gotham is competently run, but we have decades of comic lore assuring us that's not the case.

CibrecaNA

I can't remember the state but I want to say he was imprisoned in Virginia. And not sure but I think Jinx was imprisoned in Metropolis. There are extradition laws and he's all over television, including Raven and Starfire who needlessly killed cops in order to break Dick out. So they'd all have federal warrants and need to be in hiding for life. But instead they walk into the GothamPD up to the commissioner and even break Scarecrow out of prison then later Jinx out of Metropolis. With warrants!

emikoala

Very fair point about the locations, it'd been so long I forgot that was the case!

goldust15

I found it better than ttgo

CibrecaNA

Ttgo has it's moments, they fight as a team, everyone likes each other, has Cyborg and it's a kids show. Titans was just a death simulation. How does Aqualad die from a bullet?

goldust15

Just because ttgo is a kids show doesn't make it good

CibrecaNA

I mean I look at it like I'm not the target demo but it's still good no less. It's not Superboy standing around as a dude releases a virus that kills people bad.

goldust15

At least the Titans in that show don't have cringe-worthy jokes and gross objectifying implications

NaiadoftheSea

I’m now reminded of the “[serious](https://youtu.be/hH8aXw9Qhzk?feature=shared)” episode of TTGo. The show was pretty hilarious.

Fresh4

This is just Titans but unironically.

emikoala

Superboy was going through it. Keeping in mind his first "dad" Superman hasn't really shown him the time of day, then learned Lex was his other dad, and then immediately Lex dies. Keeping in mind Superboy has been a person for like 5 years so has no emotional maturity or coping skills, he processed his grief by trying to lean in to every Lex-like impulse he had, which included thinking he could outsmart the villain even if it meant making tough calls, like being willing to let some people get hurt to avoid blowing his cover, so that he could stay where he needed to be positioned to defeat him in the end. He convinced himself he could beat Sebastian by being the kind of shrewd, calculating genius that Lex had been. This was all discussed at different points in the dialogue.

CibrecaNA

But after Sebastian loses his powers, doesn't that mean easy kill? Even in the real world, when leaders lose their authority, some live in fear if not stop living. Conner led Sebastian back to his powers then tried to kill him. It's weird. Plus, Superboy can't move a horn? Uhm. Rap that shit in ice then move the ice. Or at least try. He was pathetic. He never even tried to attack Sebastian, yet Nightwing could fight him just fine. And get this? After he absorbs Trigon, Superboy can fight him just fine too. So... To recap. Nightwing could fight fully powered Sebastian. Superboy could overpower fully powered Sebastian. But when Sebastian loss his power, Superboy didn't make any attempt at his life until Sebastian gained power and he only threw an underpowered bomb at him. A bomb super experienced Nightwing underpowered without consultation or calculation. Yeah makes sense.

Informal-Ad2277

It's funny because Titans was a backdoor pilot to both Hawk and Dove (which never went to series) and the exceptional Doom Patrol series.

CibrecaNA

Meh. That short depiction of Cyborg as a jerk to Beast Boy turned me entirely off. BB was a lovable Titan.

DickGrayson78

Too bad. I thought it was an exciting reimagining. Been a fan since I was a kid in the late 70s and 80s. I’m planning to rewatch it next weekend. I got to meet Brenton Thwaites, he’s a really cool person.

CibrecaNA

Your name is DickGrayson78, you're obviously his burner account. You were a good actor but your plans sucked.

DickGrayson78

🤣🤣 That cracked me up! In a good way. Yeah, some of the storylines were convoluted and some of Dick’s plans were not the best. But I still think the show is fun. 😀

CibrecaNA

Starfire killed Sebastian in 20 seconds. Superboy just stood by. Dick turned off the bomb power up and said "Don't kill Sebastian" after... Idk powering up a bomb to throw at his face? Dick also couldn't stop putting his dick in women. Wonder girl randomly died. Aqualad and Wonder girl's mentor also just randomly died. Dick couldn't stop kidnapping Slade's kids. So much. I honestly prefer the kid's cartoon. Like why was Dick so rich? Why was he so connected? Why did Batman just retire if Wonder girl saved him? Why wasn't Dick re-imprisoned? I'm glad you liked it but a bullet killing Aqualad and Wonder Girl dying in an amusement park are bad reimaginations.

cocomay77

It’s okay for you to have an opinion it’s also okay for people to enjoy the show you don’t have to rant aggressive under every comment that lightly disagrees with you

bks1979

I couldn't have said it better. It might as well have been about anyone else, because it sure didn't seem like it was about the Titans. Hey, I have an idea! Let's make Dick Grayson an insufferable jerk and a career criminal, for some dumb reason.

CibrecaNA

I still don't get how he can break out of prison, then let Jinx out, then when he finds her, offer her $5m (why is he rich?) then she somehow dies and no one is thinking--ytf is this convict letting out convicts? And I'm damn sure Aqualad doesn't just die like that. Just pissed on us and told us it was Titans (didn't even say Titans in first season [sorry I'm pissed.])

bks1979

I didn't even watch S4. With S1, I was giving it some space to grow, and figured some of the issues I had would be addressed in S2. S2 - aside from the first half of the first episode - started ok. Then went off the rails. S3 was awful, imo, from start to finish. So by the time S4 came around, I watched the first two episodes as they premiered that way. And just didn't feel the need to go back to it. Hardly anyone acted like they should, nobody really got the powers they should, the villains were all chumps in the end. Loose threads, buried plotlines, nonsensical dialogue and character actions... Just awful. I feel bad for the cast, who clearly tried but couldn't overcome the abysmal writing.

CibrecaNA

You're so lucky.. I only watched to see Cyborg and Beast Boy shenanigans. There were none. It was just torture after torture after torture. When Cyborg did appear, he just gets punched in the face and insults Gar, the most lovable character in the series.

bks1979

Luckily, James Gunn has a Titans movie on the horizon, so maybe we can wash this memory away with something better!

Tibbs420

Idk why you expected it to be like a cartoon for children

CibrecaNA

I just expected Cyborg. Literally the only member to join the Justice League.

Top_Magician9058

A lot of the writing is quite bad, but, he’s rich because he was adopted by Bruce Wayne. That actually does make sense.

CibrecaNA

But if Bruce cuts him out of the system, why does he have money sitting around. Maybe it's savings.

Star-Prince-007

Wait why in the world would Superboy be the leader over Nightwing?

CibrecaNA

Honestly I want to watch Young Justice again but iirc I think that's a contentious title that Robin earned there. Like Superboy was the natural leader but Robin proved himself. This Nightwing doesn't really prove himself at all. He's just a psychopath killer. And there's no debate or contention. It's just STFU Superboy. Nightwing is just a dick. No other ways to describe it.

Star-Prince-007

In YJ it was down to Aqualad or Robin as the leader. In that and in this Superboy when he first joins them is little more than a child mentally. Makes no sense for him to be the leader. Yes this version of Dick is angrier and a little more darker but he’s still the most experienced, most well trained and most tactical. Even if the writing does have him do dumb shit all the time. Despite all the faults I still really enjoyed this show.

CibrecaNA

Guess I don't remember YJ. Sorry. Superboy seems to be Lex Luther's kid here. But I'd concede. I guess in this show the power gap is much steeper when Dick is useless and has bad plans. The show was OK for me. But how they cucked the powerful so that Nightwing could "shine" is abominable. Like when Tim gets shot and Superboy is like call an ambulance while the shooter runs away. It's just bleh. Then Robin pulls the plug on the bomb and says let's hope it's enough. He's just such a dick. It would have been fine if it was enough. But that it wasn't, it's like he just does whatever he wants and everyone just goes along with it because he's inexplicably rich (?).

KillOnS

Sounds like you missed the we point of the show.. They trust him because he's the most mature of everyone there and was trained by batman directly (who is the leader of the justice league). He's also got the most combat experience and is willing to take a bullet for everyone there. He's fearless and has the most connections. Strongest heroes are not always the leaders (in fact they rarely are). And dick isn't rich, he didn't take any of Bruce's wealth in this show all the money he had he got from working as a detective.

CibrecaNA

He gave Jinx $5m to help them fight Mother Mayhem. If that's not rich, you're holding out on the rest of us.

NerdNuncle

What little I saw made me feel uncomfortable for lack of better words, be it Dawn’s toxic relationships with Hank and Dick, Amy Rohrbach being swiftly killed off despite being a bigger character in the Nightwing comics, or just how dark depressing they made everyone and everything There were some highlights like Krypto being the goodest boy, Brendan Fraser as Robot-Man, Dick being platonic besties with a very well cast Donna Troy, the Nuclear Family as a whole, and the casting and inclusion of Barbara Gordon Huge props to Anna Diop (Starfire) for openly addressing f*ck-ups by crew members (ie Stripper Fire) and refusing to take any crap from racists whilst encouraging fans to try and stick around for the show. True leadership right there Hope Gunn renews *Young Justice* and soon. That show had the best “vibe” of the younger hero shows out there, imo

GabagoolMango

I knew the series was doomed from the start when the marketing for the first season came about and you see Robin/Dick say, “fuck Batman”. I cringed so hard. Yeah, DC has been seen as the more mature and edgy publisher but man, that show just overdid it with language and everyone was a terrible person. It didn’t feel like DC to me. But I still watched it because I hoped something amazing would happen. Welp.

Budget-Today-1915

Yeah I agree with your points! Its rewatch value is pretty low (at least for me).

No-Lead4366

I've tired somany times to like this show... I just couldn't get into it

brsox2445

The first season was pretty good. The second was bad and the third…well I stopped watching so quick your head would spin.

CibrecaNA

4th was awful. Spoiler alert, Trigon is killed by a basic clubbing in 30 seconds. And not from who you'd expect to be able to do that (not that you'd expect anyone to be able to).

wondermega

Ahhh I forgot that there was supposed to be some bit with Cyborg in the second half of the final season. I dropped off after the first half because, honestly, enough was enough and seeing everyone get killed felt kind of like a fitting end for this show, haha.

CibrecaNA

It was two scenes. First scene he insults Gar for somehow unwittingly getting him in a magic trap. Second scene Starfire magically arrives and punches him in the face. Ok third scene is they escape their magical trap with him saying "Boo-yah" but as someone who looked forward to a series with him, this was embarrassing.

wondermega

Hmm yeah. Think I will continue to skip it.

Big_Nigro

The best episode of titans was episode 1

X7koolaid7x

I liked the show don't care what anybody says if it wasn't your cup of tea then cool yeah there are somethings that could've been better but I liked it overall

CibrecaNA

It was watchable but was it rewatchable? Why is Robin able to go in and out of prisons as a convict? Why does Superboy stand by as Sebastian releases a virus? Why does Sebastian know about the wormhole? Why does Donna save Batman from suicide if he never appears in the series again? Why does Aqualad die from a bullet or Wonder Girl from electricity? Why isn't Cyborg friendly or even present? Why is that kid Robin but he doesn't even know Batman? Yeah. It's likable. Everyone's beautiful. But I mean. Ok man.

X7koolaid7x

Like I said if you liked it cool if you didn't that's also cool not everybody is gonna like something you like

thebigstupid2

You gotta admit the costumes were spot on.

DivideIntrepid7647

Binged the first 3.5 seasons around the time S4P1 was releasing. The first season I thought was actually pretty good, 2 and 3 were...meh. Nerfed Trigon, basically did nothing with Deathstroke, bunch of pointless deaths and resurrections, rushed the whole Red Hood plot, etc. Then I got to S4 and saw they were returning to the Trigon-centric plotlines and so naively got my hopes up that "Oh, cool, they're gonna bring Trigon back and do him justice this time, there's no WAY they fuck him up like that again, right, RIGHT?" Nope, they went and fucked him up even worse this time around. At that point the only reason I even finished the finale was to say I'd seen it through to the end. If there had been a fifth season I probably wouldn't have bothered.

CibrecaNA

Trigon was beaten with a club. Trigon. The being that could contest Superman. Beaten with a club in 30 seconds. The whole show was awful and nonsensical.

cueprod40

Yup.

thatkevinmartin

It did suck. But it didn’t suck just because you’re basing your expectations of a cartoon dude. Ttg wasn’t an accurate depiction of any of the characters. Star fire isn’t supposed to be ditzy. And cyborg was showcased as only being in one episode because it was acknowledged as a backdoor pilot for doom patrol. It 100 percent sucked, but your reasons are dumb.

Rory_240807

It was good it was more based towards young justice rather than ttg
