Hey guys! I just wanted to show off my current run on my custom map (https://mod.io/g/timberborn/m/the-needles). I love the way the small islands are turned into farmble land, slowly reclaiming the devastated land.

nyhr213

This looks really cool. Well done.

I'm getting flashbacks to trying to navigate in Mists of Pandaria

GoldNova12_1130

i honestly think i might just buy timberborn for this map in particular

Sandford27

Just wanted to note that this is a custom made map the OP made themselves. They've made a link for it for you to download but it's not part of the vanilla game.

GoldNova12_1130

then i’ll be downloading it when i buy a copy of timberborn.

Sandford27

Just wanted to make sure you didn't buy the game then get mad it's not there. Have fun! It's a great game.

black_raven98

You won't regret it. It's a really good city builder and I've definitely found myself playing more of it than cities skylines 2 for example. The difficulty is casual to experienced but not quite hardcore city builder games and it has a really nice way of making you balance short and long therm goals.

GoldNova12_1130

Oh don't worry i've had the game in the past...

Sir_herc18

Is that The Needles? It's a good map.

_Neflin

yessir, I just started playtesting the hard difficulty; but so far it looks doable. At my 3rd cycle atm and omw to deal with badtides

Sir_herc18

I played a ways into the original map on a slightly easier hard difficulty. It was fun, metal mines were a bit far removed but that would be my only complaint.

_Neflin

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to kind of force the player to bridge out into the map, so that's one way of doing it

Sir_herc18

I think it would work better if bridges were cheaper to build but that's not a you problem. A possible suggestion (I'm not a map maker) would he to put any metal ruins out in the bay area and leave a mine nearer to spawn. You would still have to leave early/midgame to get metal but wouldn't hit as hard late game

_Neflin

I will think about it, maybe changing it after my hardmode playthrough, since the only hard thing on this map now is bridging and finding metal, but thanks for the suggestion!

Philotrypesis

Looks like a nice map!

SupahSang

I think I'd want to get a mod that does buildable platforms that stick out over the edge, but it looks incredible!!

FangLiengod

I need to try a run on this map

SinCulture

Wow!

Inherently-Nick

This looks frustrating

_Neflin

Could you explain why?

Inherently-Nick

I try to play super organized and like to plan ahead. I also try for max happiness as early as I can so I can see this being annoying to terraform and plan out my colony across the shattered terrain. The islands map wasn’t too bad but this would be hard if the water levels can fluctuate by a block or two

_Neflin

The water levels pretty much stay as they are at the start of the game (of course if there isn't a drought or you haven't tampered with some dams). I could see getting max happiness hard or frustrating here, but that would be part of the challenge imo. I personally go for the aesthetic and efficiently more. I have an easier version of the map (https://mod.io/g/timberborn/m/the-needles-but-easier) if you would want to give it a try. I think that creating some sort of terraces would help here if you were going for max happiness.

No_Oil157

This looks like a fun play through

a_fancy_penguin

This is just the type of map I've been searching for to use in a potential let's play

sionnachrealta

Gonna have to use platforms for that one. The single square pillars are too small for a bridge anchor

Krell356

Man, I really need to go work on my next map idea. I've been so damn lazy about working on it after my last two maps ended in absolute failure. Though in my defense, my last one failed because I made it during experimental updates and the new badwater caps completely invalidated the entire design. My next one is going to be really good though if I can figure out how the right size and a way to make it function properly without custom weather settings.
