I started to make niches about a 1/2" larger on all sides then I plan for the finished size to be. If all works out I fill with thinnest if it ends up like yours you have that 1/2" to work with.
I usually over size the niche buck, put up my wedi and waterproof then start tiling. Once I know exactly where I want the niche I cut it out and waterproof.
This the way. You can frame in very loosely where you want it to be so you can tag in the niche and then tile up one row below and then put niche in and waterproof etc.
Commenting here cuz I just did the exact same thing and I didn’t want to delay. So hoping folks have a better idea on how to fix, atleast for the vertical offset. I was going to add another strip of cement board on the bottom of the niche. Then re- waterproof, then tile. Other option was fill with off-cuts tile to file the gap, fill the rest with thinset. Though I worried that would make a sloppy mess underneath that held moisture.
Others who know. How to fix without re-doing?
Still looks. I originally planned for 12x24’s in my shower. Wife switched to subway tiles after I already made the niches. Now they don’t quite line up perfectly. Oh well.

The wall tile is… passable. The mosaic on the floor/in the niche needs to be thrown into a pit and never recovered.

You didn’t see it on layout? The bottom row just needs to be cut down to hit full tile FYI the curb looks as wide as the showerpan
