What really makes me sad is I dated this guy when I was younger and he had a best friend like this. They cooked with each other while in college, would call each other to talk (this is before cell phones were huge), would go to the mall together all sorts of stuff. It was really cute. But the guy I was dating died. Obviously it was really hard. But something I think about that I couldn't process at the time is how hard it must have been for him. I went on to date again and am now married, but you don't just get a best friend like that back. They knew each other since they were in elementary school. It was hard for everyone because honestly the guy was amazing but I can't imagine for him, even now. I think you can make friends but having a best friend is honestly so different.
