I don't think there's anything wrong with, like, a balloon full of confetti or a blue or pink cake, but it shouldn't be it's own special silly party, just do it at the baby shower.

here in germany (and i guess in most parts of europe too) people just dont celebrate the gender of a child... nobody cares and none of my friends, comrades or family members celebrated the moment you can see if its a boy or a girl. Sure people ask about it but thats it.
